Hi there,
Does anybody know how to change the setting of my HD2's backlight from dimming when its charging?
The only workaround I have is set the screen time out to max (30mins).
I'm running MAGLDR ICS 4 tyungtung

you could prolly mess around with the services.jar or android.policy.jar found in /system/framework directory.
EDIT: After two minutes of googling i found this google is your friend it works perfectly i was actually in the process of making an app that does exactly this but guess i dont have to

Didn't see a megathread for the Froyo release I'm on, but I have the HD2 release from August 18th.
Problems:
1. Screen backlight will turn on, backlight to buttons comes on, but no image is displayed.
2. Screen almost totally stops responding, when it does it's acting as if I'm holding down on something. I try and turn off the screen, and it takes a few minutes to turn off.
Solutions? Don't know. I tried hard resetting, but that doesn't do anything. I'm using the suggested Miri ROM. I tried Energyrom, that didn't do anything different.
I have exactly the same problems..

1. It's a common problem. Try latest builds and you could have a fastest response during wake up...but the problem persist.
2. It's a problem caused by G-Sensor. Try disabling Auto Rotation and probably this problem go away.
P.s.: Next time read some post. It's a problem already know and posted

I did. And I'll try what you said.
So yeah that didn't fix it. And just now it randomly rebooted itself.
everybody has had these issues and got passed them the fact you say you couldnt find it lets us know you didnt search to well
I've done what people have suggested and had no results. I have searched for a good half hour, using the search feature. Perhaps you could link me to a resolved thread someone posted with the same problem? That'd be helpful. I'm not trying to aggregate anything here, I just want to be able to use this.
You don't disable the g sensor by disableing the auto rotate. Try using a kernal with the g sensor disabled. Its around here somewhere.

Don't I have to start from scratch if I do that?
Haven't been able to find decent solutions to this slow wake up problem. I disabled auto-rotate, and am running the latest shubcraft (1.5).
I would appreciate a helpful link too!
This isn't a slow wake up problem...
Take a look at the how to disable g sensor thread. I used the gscript route and I'm loving it. No screen freezes at all. There's no auto rotate either but with to clicks I can enable or disable it.

same problem
i got the same problem with my phone. after flashing two diff roms Kumar Premium and Miri's i still get SOD. what did you guys do to fix this?
I've disabled the G-Sensor using GScript but I'm still having lag before the screen wakes up (sometimes 10 seconds or more), too!
Any other fixes/patches?
Running Miri's ROM + FroyoStone v2 with Sense on a T-Mobile HD2.

Link? Can't find it.
Disabling the g-sensor does not fix the problem. I used the gsript "trick" with renaming the folder and killing a process. Didn't help.
Help me with this, somebody!
Bump......
When you first start up Android it needs some time to initialise. My experience is that when you wait like 5 minutes after Android has booted the SOD's hardly occur and if occur it will wake up after you'll try a few times.
So... Let it boot and leave it alone for five minutes or so?
Again, I disabled the gsensor with Gscript lite.
That's what works for me. I'm using andriod for Desire HD and I'm using it daily.
hi i installed android froyo 2.2 on my htc hd2, its running well. but the problem is internet, there is no internet connectivity on my phone, how i can activate internet on my htc hd2 ? and if i reboot my phone than windows 6.5 wil start, if i want to start again than i have to install android again ?
waiting for some help xD
sounds like you are using an sd version this is normal, you really should read the sticky threads
as for internet you probably havent put the apn settings in
I need help. When I turn my phone to landscape mode it gets stuck in that mode. When I turn off the auto-rotate it goes back to normal. When im in a call the light sensor doesn't work either. Any suggestions?

Landscape mode, it might just be a weird g-sensor. Shake the phone a bit maybe that'll help. I know it did that in WinMo, but haven't had that problem with Android yet so I'm not sure.
For the light sensor (the official term is proximity sensor) there's a setting for it. Settings -> Call Settings -> Always use proximity.
That should help.
Thanks but it didn't help.

Did you try recalibrating your G-sensor and rebooting? As for the proximity sensor I don't have a solution. Try the search button ;-)

i cant use phone,i know i must take it to service and i wanna know whats not working and how much it will cost me?
I had a similar problem one time one of my backups was corrupt and none of my sensors would work, Gsensor, Light sensor or Proximity sensor. I had to reinstall a fresh rom and it started working again.
Also is your light settings set to automatic? maybe super dim?

How can I set my device to not turn on the screen autmatically?
It annoys me that the screen is turned on every 30 minutes or so, and then needs one or two minutes to turn off again
What is this good for anyways?
Yes 7.7 wakes on ALL system event like battery full, annoying as hell. No working solution yet. Grrr...

Try using smart screen off, it keeps your screen off when the proximity sensor is activated like in a case or bag.

Thanks for your replies! I will try the mentioned app.
Imho this feature should be integrated in stock touchwiz.
Sure np, however it does drain a bit of battery as the sensor needs to constantly keep detecting any changes. Try the lite version first before going pro.
Smart Screen Off doesn't stop the tablet from waking up on system notification like battery charge completion. Google believes charging completed is most important thing on earth and should make it known as soon as it happened, even when it might be in the middle of night.
Grateful if anyone would tell me how to stop this annoying notification...(i know how to turn off its sound, i just wish to stop it from happaning)

And more specifically and as far as I can tell, if the phone is freshly booted then the functions listed above work. However, after several hours on I go to adjust the brightness and the screen does NOT change its brightness no matter whether i set auto-brightness or adjust it manually.
Let me preface this topic and let you all know that I still have my stock screen protectors attached and I've installed the light flow app if that matters.
Any ideas?
EDIT: I such at naming titles.
same here, just wiped. no clue what's causing it
Same for me I just noticed this. Hope its something fixable in an update.

Have you tried wiping? I haven't had any issue since
Ugh never mind, brightness got stuck again.
Wow am i glad to have found this thread, i have been battling this problem since day one with this phone, and i have been trying to track it down with usb debugging but have been unsuccessful. What happens is that my screen will randomly shut off and be non responsive for 5 seconds and when i can turn the screen back on, i can no longer adjust the brightness and only a reboot will solve the issue. It also occurs when i am not using the phone so i think it is a hardware issue but i am uncertain.
Things i have tried to fix it:
Factory reset
Fastboot flash factory image
Flash cutom ROM & Kernel
Didn't realize it before but yes, my screen randomly turns off, then the brightness gets stuck. Thought it was timing out

You guys use auto brightness? Maybe that might be it
This happens to me occasionally too, haven't been able to determine what triggers it. It's almost as much fun as the magical battery levels. Plugged in the other day, went from 4% to 100% in a nano second.
interesting...my auto and slider work just fine
ugh still getting this problem daily. does't matter if auto brightness is on
There is no solid way to reproduce the problem, so I am willing to bet its a hardware issue. I will be calling T-Mobile this week to replace it.

Of the people who are experiencing it, how many have a notification drawer widget (Widgetsoid, Power Controls, et al?) and have a brightness toggle on it?
I've removed brightness from Widgetsoid to see if it's a conflict of some sort.

Might be a hardware issue? If it was software I think a lot of people would be complaining about this.
Edit: ugh as I was typing this post, screen flashed and turned off with broken brightness. I just rebooted like 5 min ago too

Not sure. Here's one report on Google Code: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=40378
Edit: could just as easily be a OS issue, if it decides to stop polling the light sensor for some reason. Many people have the battery bug as well, which seems to stop polling the battery for some reason.
