Newbie Essentials O2 Germany for English users

First of all the correct unlock utility can be found on this post:

The next most important thing is to know how to do a hard reset, you hold the "Communication Manager" and "Voice Speed Dial" buttons while pressing in the soft reset button(that is the small button next to the IR port), make sure to keep holding the two buttons after you press the soft reset. Then a screen will apear to have you hit the green call button to make sure you want to reset. This will format your user info and make you peform the startup tests again.
If you want to load an english rom, I suggest the Qtek one since it is very easy and all the software runs on the computer instead of needing to load files on to a SD card or the wizard. The whole application can be found here:

The link to the file is at the bottom of the page in the last blog. You will need to have Active Sync 4.1 for this phone and it will have to be working for this application to work.

Instructions:
1. You can flash and update your phones to english with this ROM:

Nope, the button combo for "update mode" doesn't work on the T3232.

I tested the english rom wm6.5 on my t4242 and now, my wheel doesent work and i dont know what i can do, that it works again.
downgraded back to 6.1 doesnt show effect, now my wheel doesent work and i have the same wm like before -.-

Bluetooth problem
with this ROM I have Bluetooth problem on T3238, data sending but not receiving. T3238 visible for other phone and wiriting about error.
Somebody know solution?

Start-Settings-Connections-Beam. There is "Receive all incoming beams".

When i exec the update procedure, pressing the buttons, one white screen saying "Calibrating..." is show, and the indicator led is pink. Above many seconds, the cel turn off and when i turn this on, the system not updated.

But I think our problem its a bit more complicated:

I was accessing 999ppc.com looking for information about the Rom P638 and this Rom is related to Huawei K3 processor.
In the box is a Qualcomm, the device says it is a Marvel, but is a Huawei?
I also found a wm6.5 Rom, but in chinese.
Will another wm6.5 WWE/EN Rom work in my cellphone ? I was trying to use Jade23071wwe but it cannot retrieve the actual rom version.
How can I flash it ? I also didnt find a hard-spl to work...

Update mode for HTC/HTY 3238 phone - FOUND
I found the update mode in my 3238:
Hold power + volume down + send button (green button).
But not sure to upgrade to WM6.5 because bios information above.... Anyone have tried ?

You updated using a smart.upr file or a .bin file ?
I tried a upr, but my cellphone does not recognize.
My Bios is a P638M30 EN, so i suppose my processor is a K3 not Marvell.
I found a rom for this bios at 999ppc and DBank (chinese forum) thanks to Google Translate - but the wm6.5 is in chinese ....
This is the filename: P638M30_TH_UI1_L12_C7_CHS_MFGW_WM650_C02SPC002R01_091203.bin
I think a .bin file will work, but I'm afraid to test this chinese rom in my T3238 clone.

Language change from Russian to English

Hi i have purchased my HTC Touch 2 T3333 RU from Russian Moscow. The language of the mobile is Russian. I want to change it to Emglish. Please send me all procedure.

I have learned by searching the internet that a ROM change is required for language change. But if just a few hard boot works, then that is awesome !

I try to make many HardReset, with sim card and without.
But never see option for change language, i push volume up and volume down, hold it, press reset button fnd power button. After see gray screen with information for HR, press Volume UP button, start HR. After few minutes i have WM orange screen, after i see customisation htc option (tap on keyboard, change wi-fi...) and no change language.
Maybe i make something wrong?

After customization (tap etc.) another reset and than he ask me for language. I have this phone from PLUS network.

You make reset by tap power off in menu right button, or make reset by red button on backward device?

There are so-called dual language Rom's. In settings you may check if this option is there.
Another thing you can do is install HSPL and flash another Rom from the Mega rom thread or see here http://htcpedia.com/soft/mega-touch2-rom?page=2

[100% Working] Changing the default language of Xperia X2 - takes you 5 minutes.

This message is now updated with a 100% working, and quick way of changing your language for the X2 device. I have now tested with 4 different languages (fi, en, se and de), and all worked. I also updated the cabs to report to the Update Software that the phone has an old versison. Now it does not compalin that the latest version is installed!
I have tested with these languages: GENERIC_FI, GENERIC_SE, GENERIC_UK and GENERIC_DE. The rest of the cabs are created with the same rules, so they should work to (if not, then please post here which cab does not work).
Before you upgrade, please write down the following info and fill it into the form on the download-page!! I really want this info.
I would like to know which all versions are out there, and how they are connected to the different ID:s and versions!

Save the cab on your SD-card
Reset the memory of your phone (settings->Clear phone)
After the reboot, you have to align the screen. When finished, the phone starts to install cabs. NOW remove the battery (or press the reset-button on the back of the phone) so that the custom cabs wont get installed
Start the phone again. Now when you get a screen that asks you if you want to continut the installation process, click NO. The phone boots up to default windows mobile with no SE panels etc.
Now install the custom language-cab you downloaded to your SD-card earlier
Turn off the phone
Start the phone and keep the vol-down + power button down till you come tho the white SE screen.
Start the SE Update Software, pick your X2 and click next. Connect the phone to the USB-cable when the software asks you to do so.
After a while, the update-software informs that there is a new software-update available. Just hit next/continue and confirm that the phone's data will be erased.
There is NO need to remove any files on windows, The update software starts to automatically fetch the ROM that matches the installed custom-CAB
Now you notice that the update-software starts to download the new ROM (over 125Mb). If for some reason the upgrade does not start to install (eg. one case was with a demo X2 phone), then just let the phone complete the custom cab-installation It does a factory-reset before it resumes the install)
Below are the different language-versions available. I have not yet had time to create cabs for other languages, but if you need a specific language, then post to this thread a request so that i can create a custom cab for that language.
It would be nice if you would report to this thread if you succeed or not with this upgrade!
So, here is a list of available regions that i simply picked up from listigs of ROM:s To get the MR2-release, it has to have been released by SE...

I guess you are trying to install the russian version, right?
What you showed on the above screencapture is an Uk-version of the X2.
To figure out more precisely what went wrong, you need to confirm to me that you followed all steps i have explained in the first post of this thread.

I think that the hardware is the same, but with an old software.
Did you
Reset the phone
Cancel the installation of the cabs after aligning the screen?
Install the generic_ru cab?
I did this, and i had an russian x2 with the latest R3A software...
So my opinion is that you gave back a great phone!

I had a couple of times that the update did not work on the first time. What i did was that i rebooted the phone, and when it asked if i want to continue the cancelled update-process i answer yes. Now the phone asks you to accept a reset. After accepting, the phone reboots, and you are at stage one again when the phone asks you to align the screen. Again when finished, cancel the update-process by removing the battery.
Now install your generic_XX cab (download a fresh copy of it!).
Now reboot your phone at least one time. What you could do is paste the content of the following files (you can get to them via ActiveSync):
\windows\swVersionCust.txt
\windows\swvercust.txt
\windows\swVersionProduct.txt

2.- many users vahe tryed and tryed everything before with no success, which means their PC SEUS SOFTWARE IS ALREADY MARKED with their current I-wanna-get-rid-of language. this prevents the installation of a new language...
May I suggest you to include anohter step into your guide:
UNINSTALL SEUS FROM THE PC and reinstall it after the lang CAB has been installed
OR
delete folder C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db

Regarding the re-installation of SEUS, or deleting the files, i say that that's pointless. I have not done that, and i can install any of my tested languages directly without having to every time download them... SEUS can even resume nicely uncomplete downloads!
I think that the Spanish language has not yet been released, but as soon that will be released, then i'll create a new cab for with spanish language.
There is one thing that puzzles me, and I would like to know a bit more about what they mean (This is an example from the GENERIC_UK rom):
Software Id: 1230-2799
Customization Id: 1231-4909
Customization Version: R22A
What do these values mean? I would apreciate if someone could explain me more in detail, and if someone could point me to a complete, then that would be even better!
If this is some kind of flavour of each specific language, then it's not a big deal for me to create a custom cab for each of these flavours.

I just added two Spanish cabs: Standard + Vodafone. With this you can change your language to Spanish. Currently there is no spanish MR2 release, but you should get the spanish previous version installed.

My phone is currently in Europe as i did not want to risk "bricking" it myself: better to blame someone else if it happens But you have some pretty clear instructions so if I were to do it myself, I dont think that I would have a problem.
I sent this as a link for a more experienced tech to follow and make the change from Czech to English.
Unfortunately I do not know the the answers to the questions that you recently posted on your first post in this thread but as soon as i get it back I can try to find out what I can: albeit it will already be too late because it would have been changed already.
Anyways thank you again so much for figuring this out. Dealing with SE is so frustrating: "you bought the phone in Slovakia therefore it is not meant to be used anywhere else." WHAAAAA??!?!?!? Darn SE... have some product support for once.

hi hertell,i try to change language to my xperia but every time it return vodafone spain.I try with generic_it and generic _es but seus upgrade evry time firmware vodafone

So, the same problem with "You phone already has the latest available software installed" with only button "Exit" in SEUS.
Trying all variants described there with no luck....

it seems there are still changes witch are not set back !?

You need to install the original ROM from your device, intruction bellow for find it.
Go to official HTC site (http: / / www. htc . com/ br / ) - > Select Country - > Chose a region, for example "Asia Pacific Home " -> Support -> Choose Your Product : HTC HD mini -> Select ROM Upgrade for HTC HD mini - > Download - > Put your serial
number in "1 . Serial Number: " - > Submit.
If your HTC HD Mini is from Asia , you can make the ROM download , if is not you see a message error "Sorry , this software
download is not suitable for your device .", than you need to try another region, until you find it .

for hard reset
just hold power +increase volume +decrease volume to show you 3 color page
then push increase volume and wait to restarted

right.download an offical rom that fit for your phone reign.

try to search shipped rom from google.
