Can we stop with all the speculation. Look what happened with the galaxy s3.
Wait for official word from Sony.
We had the same speculation about a dual core device last year and we ended up with the arc s.
Have you fellas not learnt anything.
Goodness.
I'll tell you now, besides the S and the Ion, we will not see any other flagship devices from Sony this year.
At the most, you might see a beefed up S but judging by sales figures, that's looking less likely by the day.
One flagship per year. That's the only strategy that makes any sense for all concerned. Consumers as well as for manufacturers.

I can confirm the device exists and is to be released in 2012.
Sent from my LT26i using XDA
Well I don't see how it won't be a real phone...
But I think it will indeed be like the Arc > Arc S situation, and it will be a sort of higher spec Xperia S.
The specs according to the rumors make it out to be that in my opinion...
I will buy Hayabusa if its specs will be similar to Xperia S and design like our xperia aRc with some changes..
from xperia PLAY
It would make perfect sense in my opinion.
Shame though (if those pics above are correct) that they may ditch the light bar. I was hoping they would hold on to it, because I truly love that feature . The S4 with that rumored arc form would appease the spec junkies and arc fans, and the S will appease the light bar monolith phone people, so everyone's happy .

I doubt this very much. Phones can be registered just as backup incase things go wrong saleswise but might never get released to manufacturing.

Any source of this pdf? I am not able to find any !!!
ICS on launch date? Sweet!
That PDF is legit. Marketing divisions get them before launch, but this is pretty incredible how the whole press got leaked.
Anyways, Hayabusa will be slightly different in terms of design. It won't be full white like the GX. I personally like the GX more in terms of looks though.

To be honest, im actually more excited how Sony could come up with their own brand of ICS, after a good turn up by Samsung GS3 on their ICS features (except the phone design though)

Looks nice, although an aluminium frame sounds like a really bad idea...
If the camera spec is real then I'd think: Why would they go back to an older sensor?? Unless the 13.1mpx sensor that's in our XZ isn't good enough...

If it's using an Exmor RS sensor, then that's not old at all but the absolute latest and greatest from Sony. It's just that it'll use an 8MP version vs. the 13MP version on the Z and ZL.

Maybe among the phones released last year only: Nexus 4, LG Optimus G and HTC Butterfly (and their variants) have better specs (SoC) than Xperia SP.
BTW, according to the white paper, SP uses Corning Gorilla glass without a shater-proof sheet..
And Xperia L seems to use glass made by SCHOTT, again no mention of a shatter-proof sheet.
Does this mean no more pre-installed shatter-proof sheets by Sony Mobile?

Great mid-range phone.
Seems like a great mid-range phone to me. Of course everything seem better in their adds but I was honestly positively surprised when I saw it.
Having doubts though about the functionality an smoothness of the phone. I've been using Sony XPERIA S and with a 1.5 GHZ Dual-Core processor and 1 GB of RAM it was quite laggy even when using their built-in APPS like Walkman. At times it would stutter and force close even when other APPS were closed. Since Sony got rid of Ericsson I've become a huge Sony fan especially with their latest release the XPERIA Z. Their designs are formidable in my opinion and I guess many people will agree with me. The translucent bar in the S and the SP is something notable, probably a battery drainer but non the less a nice add to create something different, elegant and "sexy".
I'm very pleased to see another, newer device of Sony with this translucent bar. It'd be a nice second phone to keep with me just in case something happens with my future XPERIA Z or HTC ONE!
YES, definitely not going to buy the S4, design disappoints me and am genuinely sick of Samsung using cheap materials. Specs? Thumbs up Samsung!
Hi Guys,
When I took Xperia Tablet Z into my hands I feel on top of the world - this tablet is awesome!!
Its so light n thin - very good for reading n watching videos, everything is crisp n sharp.
Played some games like NOVA3, Virtua Tennis, Need for Speed, etc - all working fine without any lags so far (heating problem is less as compared to Xperia Z), I played continously for more than 30 minutes.
The speaker n sound quality is also good - XZ sound in nothing in comparison to XTZ.
Once I removed Sony widgets from screen - there is NO lag wharsoever!!
If you guys wanna know or ask anything, let me know!!
I would rate this android tablet as 10/10
Note: I am in Singapore and got this from Japan.
Sry for posting in Xperia Z forum - m so excited that I want to let everybody know
MY RATINGS:
Design: 10/10
Performance: 9/10
Battery: 8.5/10
UPDATES:
5 days and not even a single crash - with android tablet its simply outstanding !!
Battery Life -Moderate Usage

Sony will announce a Google Edition of the Xperia Z, much like the Samsung S4 and HTC One. This is said by a Sony insider, and purported to be announced sometime in July. Apparently, even with the AOSP for Xperia Z, it's apparently too differcult/not for mass market, so they'll be distributing the Google Edition running 4.2.2 on the Play Store, EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE US. It'll have all the same features as the current Xperia Z with no hardware changes, and probably cost around $599 (the same as a launch day PS3).
Are you guys excited for a proper pure Android Xperia Z rather then the buggy AOSP? Personally, I'd prefer a Google Edition Xperia Play, with a 720p screen (games don't need to go that much higher on a sub-5inch screen) on a 4.7inch screen with updated internals, a Tegra 4 with an upgraded GPU and better battery. It could then be the standard bearer for Android gaming, and propel PlayStation Mobile and PS4 cross compatibility forward into public consciousness better, and raise the bar for mobile gaming as a whole (in my opinion, the NVidia Shield is more of a tech demo then anything).

Sorry but they won't the reason why their are Nexus versions of the S4 and One is because people are literally screaming for it, sure their are some sony fans screaming for it but the numbers are considerably lower.
Sony has a few guys who maintian AOSP, they will stick with that for some time, Also SOny has commited to the mutli-model strategy, our Yuga is no longer being actively cared for by Sony, they are preparing their next device and all we can rely on Sony for is 4.2 and 4.3 updates in the next year or so.
The Xperia Z is still very much still the flagship at least in the UK. Advertising everywhere, loads of TV spots. And the AOSP doesn't get the same Android release schedule as any of the Google Edition phones which share the same Android release cycle as the Nexus phones.

Assuming everything would be signed by Sony I assume the ftf for this would be flashable even on locked bootloaders?
So I got the Google Keyboard - it is far, FAR better then the stock Android keyboard. It is literally better in every way. It's smooth, with better prediction and better implementation of the Swype-like features. Before, if you typed a word on the stock Xperia Z keyboard, some of the suggested words couldn't be clicked on because they were covered by the grey things surrounding each word or where the next letter would go. I can only imagine how good a completely pure Android version would feel. Right now I'd consider getting CM10 or something and getting Bravia Engine 2 and the Walkman app on it.

That's apart from all the features you would be missing of course. Easy choice for me
Might be useful for developers however, because that's where Nexus/Google Edition is meant for.
Pure Android
What makes Sony different from others? I would never buy a Sony with pure OS because it will lost its beautiful features, lost some functions. Compared to other phones, I still love the elegant design of Sony, if you all use pure android, then there will be no different among Sony, Htc, samsung...

Sorry mysticmetal,
but I didn't know anaything about Photoshop. I only saw this picture this evening and want to share it with the community.
Nothing more, iam doesn't interested in faking information.
You are false in your mind, it's not Xperia Z Ultra, it's a xperia Z.
The attachment is the picture from ZU and it doesn't match

its Xperia Z Ultra and its right in my hand HERE.
It's a fan page. Not an official source.

We already knew that 4.3 would come to our XZ, isn't it? http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2013/07/25/on-android-jelly-bean-4-3/
Though no firmware certification yet, so it won't be within a week

To me it does not look fake at all. Plus the FB belongs to Sony Mobile.. if people would only take a moment to check everything out before make themselves look stupid in comments.
So wuhuuu official 4.3 will be here soon.. and by the looks of it with the enhanced UI found on the Z Ultra and Z1. The way to go Sony.

Maybe you should take a moment to check:
Official Sony Mobile page - https://www.facebook.com/sonymobile
Community Sony Mobile page (link in the OP) - https://www.facebook.com/SonyXperiaZpage
It's 100% fake. Infact, it's not fake, it's just stating what we already know.
I think we all know they'll be updating the Xperia Z. It might not be the star of the show any longer but it certainly certified for 4.3. Sony themselves said they would update the phone. 4.3 doesn't really bring many most have features so I am not particularity rushing for it. What I do want are some of those xperia Z1 app enhancements in my Z.

Yes, Everybody knows that 4.3 update is coming... He/She just shared the information of the update may come soon.,,
But the question is will it get Z1 UI and some of the camera features..

I would rather Urge sony to drop 4.3 and directly upgrade to 4.4, i have a feeling if they do upgrade it to 4.3, it might be the last official update for Z

We dont know what specification will 4.4 require, but the rumour says that its gonna be refreshed, super-light even for 500mb RAM smartphones. That, and the fact Xperia Z is not even a year old, still supported by qualcomm, makes me sure it definitely will be upgraded to 4.4. What is more Xperia Z was truely (not counting me) first SONY phone, which attracts clients. I mean first which does matter on market ( S and T didnt matter at all), there is too many people who bought this device, if SONY abandon such a great group its gonna be disaster for future flagships.

Am I the only person who really does not cate? By the time the networks release an OTA (let's face it, the vast majority of users can't use flashtool, not everyone is rooted and such) we will be into like 4.9.

Very true, and the fact that Z finally started the Sony quest to be recognized as a serious contender in the Flagship race. The reason i am not looking forward to 4.3 is mainly because it does not bring anything new to the table, so if it had to be one upgrade, it would rather be the latest. That said we always have XDA and Z is a pretty good device on a whole, so we should keep getting unofficial support for sometime.

To be honest Sony have made their name fairly well. But like you said 4.3 doesn't seem to bring anything new to the table in terms of usability. That said I've only seen rumours and such rather than hard facts from Google themselves. It will be interesting to see what comes of it.

Well... The Z4 may be a disappointment for some people, but something seems a little strange about this release. This is found on the japanese site of Sony:

'The product is a product aimed at completing the form of Xperia Z series.'
It suggests that Sony is ending the Z series
.
.
.
Fortunately, I theorize things may not be ending badly like this. Last year when Sony was hacked, emails regarding a new concept was leaked, as shown below:
http://www.xperiablog.net/2015/04/18/is-sony-working-on-an-all-metal-xperia-flagship-multiple-official-concept-images-leak/
The 'Y' series. Maybe Sony is going from Z to Y to X and so on? I think Sony is ditching 'Z' for the 'Y' series, which explains the crummy upgrade from the Z3 to Z4...
Yeah I liked the metal look of that Y pic. I hope the rear is same.
I can't read that line on the Sony pic you posted though. It is too small fuzzy and low res.

Here you go
Just translate it to English
Real shame if true as the z series is one of the best android designs
I was hoping to grab a Z4 to replace my Oneplus. 2 features I miss are waterproof, or IR blaster, so i'd upgrade from oneplus to get one of those. I was upset to see the Z4 was Japan only, but if what you think is true, i'll be glad to wait.
I think the machine translator gave you a wrong interpretion;
Even if I studied Japanese just a little bit, I could sense that the original text '本商品は、Xperia Zシリーズの完成形を目指した商品です。' could mean 'We aimed to make an ultimate Z series phone.' rather than 'We aimed to make the end of the line.'

Good news for me
i like to see something new; new design, new policy for features and hardware and etc
so new series means wht i want
:good:
Xperia Z series remained one of the successful range of xperia, i think they will carry on with this but in case they are planning to end it even then I am convinced that they must be bringing something that will outclass even the Z series.
Happy news for all. We hope "Y" series will more attractive ever series. wish it all the best future.:good:
Pardon me, but is this phone going to be only in Japan? I was hoping to get this in the states- is that not going to be an option?

I think its only for Japan... But after release u can buy it from online stores.. I mean imported mobiles...
It would be sad tho. If they end the Z series. Personally i like Sony smartphones cause of the Z series only.
I am also looking for the exciting "y" series on this version.

Even if I did that, it would be like impossible to get accessories for it in the states, since there would be no demand (other than me)
Xperia Z to Y
May be. But the new "Y" series could be more advanced than the old Z. That can't just keep on continue Z5, Z6,.....Z100. For their business, Sony has to change their models and designs according to the tend and technology...

No I, if the galaxy S6 is better. Just best that can be wet? :silly:
I would not want Sony end their Z series, coz' I am patiently waiting for the Z5 this year.
Z4 for me is a bit disappointing, its just a little upgrade from the Z3.
I hope they will release Z5 with a whole new level of flagship phone! :good::fingers-crossed:
I would be more than happy if they end the Z series and bring something new. From Z to Z4 they all look quite identical and after using Xperia Z and Xperia Z2, I'm not interested to buy the next Flagship with the same design.
Is Y the lavender concept?
That's really similar to what we see in lavender
