Hi, i have a Motorola milestone running cm9 alpha but this did not cause the problem. when i changed into cm7 about a week ago then changed into cm9 the the back and the search key only light up. All the keys work they just don't light up. Also the same problem with my keyboard the keys don't light up unless i change the brightness of the screen not when i slide the keyboard..
i am currently running cm9 alpha 4.0.3
any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hey.
My Droid pro is barely a month old and Im experiencing difficulty in getting the backlight of the physical keyboard to light up when its dark.
If i tilt it upwards, it comes on sometimes but this too is very random with no specific response to any particular type of lighting.
Its ALWAYS on in the day but never in the night
From what I've read, turning off automatic brightness setting is a solution but it has not worked for me - my phone has been on a custom brightness setting since day 1.
HELP!
do u have a screen protector installed?
No screen protector. that would solve the problem?
I just noticed this problem as well while I was trying to text in bed with the lights off. Couldn't see a damn thing
keyboard light problem
I have the same issue,i wished motorla would do a update and fix with a setting for that,in the meantime,I always hit the on off button and then it stays on for a bit
Not sure but...
I never had this problem until I downloaded am alternate keyboard. i installed swype and this problem started. Have not uninstalled to see if it fixes the problem
If your rooted then try installing keyboard backlight from the market. It works great for me.
Ive never had a problem with my backlight. Night or day.
backlight
I too have the same problem,im like the others, wished motorola would fix this and make it adjustable, i have a semi fix til they do fix for good, when u notice it is not on,reach up and just push the power button for the screen to temporarily shut off, then push power button again, use slider to open screen and then it should be lit up then, thanks
Any try the backlight app and see if that works?
which app is it? a link would be nice
if you have a screen protector, use a hole punch to cut a hole in it above the light sensors.
turn off automatic brightness.
with the backlight on, but keys off, cover the two sensors for a few seconds with your palm, that always gets my keyboard lights to come on.
On the DROID pro there is also a light sensor in the upper left corner.
I experienced the same issue that u did. I then put my finger over the light sensor and the backlight came on.
It seemed to stay on from that point forward in the dark.

1. are you rooted, and did you get the specific app mentioned.
2. did you completely miss where TWO of us have mentioned that covering the light sensor briefly usually turns the lights back on?

1. I'm currently on Rooted TBH Gingerbread.
2. Tried that, didn't seem to work.
3. Not that big a deal just kind of annoying.

Thank you!!! it works great now with that app.
hey all, recently added GB to my BF's non-rooted DPro and he's having this issue as well.
Looks like the best, and only, fix may be to root and add that app from the market?
Upon covering the sensor at the top the light does come back on, but only for a second or two. Have messed with the display and brightness and power settings but nothing seems to keep the backlight on when typing.

Same problem here, I dont think its a ROM bug since mine its runing CM9 and no one else has reported something like this on CM9 forums...
Ill flash full sbf just to check if that solves de problem
+1
I have seen that on CM7 and now on CM9..
If you change brightness on cm9 buttons will light up again. That's annoying

No, beacuse buttons light up perfectly but the search one just doesnt... even with full brigthness and while booting the search one stays off
I flashed full sbf and its still off, so I guess the led its just dead

probably the leds are dead, my old defy had two leds dead (menu, back), and they broke shortly after my phone got wet. but thats all that happened, so im lucky the phone itself still works
I am having the same problem since yesterday. Home button led not working of defy+
yea mine too menu button not lit properly... its not glowing like other 3 buttons...
My home button is lit but not so much as other 3 buttons.
I think that it's because of Full HWA, didn't try changing the rom, but it just suddenly happen.
if you set brightness to full for too much time, it may damage the leds
My LED lit, but only two becuase the other two are damaged
cm9 and cm10 works now (except the broken ones)
And me too have this issule. My search button didn't light.
Motorola don't make good phone :/
Never again motorola
mine home button is dead too
Option button LED dead here. Conked off yesterday. I've always set least brightness for these LEDs. First a dead pixel on screen, now this. This would be my last Moto too.
my home button dead tooo any tweak to bring it back?
How can a tweak fix dead LED
Why not ? M not talking abt software tweak... m talking about opening the phone and tweaking hardware... or may be replacing it..

Or may be connect some floating pin or may to some shield/body wer we can capitalise on leakage vtg

My defy's menu and back buttons are also dead lolz, seems like an issue with the diodes themselves
Hi, I have question mostly for Walter79 but maybe someone else gonna help too. Walter79 somehow adjust brightness buttons in his MS2Ginger 2.1 and i would ask how he did it or is there any fix to adjust brightness on buttons in Defy+??
Ok I received answer from Walter79 so thread to delete.
well, what was the solution?
I guess I'm not the only one who is interested in hearing the answer to this question. How can the brightness be adjusted? I know how to switch the backlit on and off but it would be good to have those buttons dimly lit, not ultra bright.
CM7 has this under device settings.
Why not check out the source code for this part of it?
Defy+ bottom's button light is missing with CM9 20120902 version
if i adjust the button light then the button's light can light up.
is that anyway to make this always on when the screen is on. is it a bug or any option in the setting menu?
thks

I guess it's a bug which doesn't work with auto brightness. Try changing brightness and see. I use CM10 and with auto brightness my button back light doesn't work, might be same with CM9.

I just noticed a very weird glitch in the yureka stock cyanogenmod ROM? In normal phones, the light of the touch buttons only lights up when the buttons are used whereas in Yureka, the buttons light up every time we touch on the screen. This is very annoying particularly while using the phone in the dark environment such as night. So anybody have solution to this? Please work on this issue so that the buttons light up only when touched. Thanks.....
