Hi,
I successfully installed Slim ICS and like it.
However, there are two issues.
Firstly, the backlight of my Nexus S softbuttons turns off after about 3-4 seconds, and I would prefer to have it turned on as long as the screen is on. I tried a few apps, but none helped. I'm pretty sure there are settings for that hidden somewhere, but I can't find 'em.
My second issue is that at every startup, I get a "advanced slim settings crashed" (or closed, since mine is not in english im not sure of the exact translation) notice. Apart from that I don't experience issues, but it's annoying nonetheless. Any ideas? I think it occured after I changed the LCD pixel density to 220, which worked fine, went through all the steps successfully. Tried it again, but still the warning did not disappear at reboot.
Thanks in advance
This is probably better off in the Slim ICS development thread as the dev there can help you with specific issues. In regards to the backlight timeout, grab NSTools from Market/Play Store and turn off the BLD.

And for your other question, as I stated earlier, go to the ROM thread and ask there because you'll definitely get an answer there.

Well, i can't post there due to newbie posting restrictions
For the backlight, install NStools from the market and disable Backlight Dimmer. Regarding the force close, I would wipe the phone and reinstall the ROM.

Ah forgot about that restriction. Have you tried a wipe and fresh install yet like the above poster suggested?

Ok so i started this thread as a result of what happen to me. He is my story, i was on Bionix Fusion 1.1 w/Voodoo and of course i had that backed up along with Bionix 1.9.1 w/Voodoo and JI6 w/One Click Lag Fix. I was having issues with a app (Beautiful Widgets) where i was trying to have the weather how up on the notification bar but it would not come up automatically unless you went into the app and selected "save & apply" every singe time, very anoying. I contacted the developer of the app and the last thing he asked was if i was running the stock launcher. Since Fusion uses Launcherpro i decided to restore my JI6 w/One Click Lag Fix. To my shock when i ran the restore i ended up on Android System Recovery and could not get pass that even if i tried using the other 2 restore points (Bionix Fusion 1.1 w/Voodoo, Bionix 1.9.1 w/Voodoo).
I posted my problem in the Q&A section hoping for a solution but of course i got nothing back, so i found a thread regarding someone being stuck on the Android System Recovery screen just like me. It was mentioned to use Eugenes Froyo that does not brick and then flash the stock JFD rom. After many attempts i finally got my phone up and running but little did i realize that my entire phone got wiped clean, meaning i lost all my songs (over 100) 2 .avi movies, a few wallpapers and all the different Roms and Mods i had installed. Basically my phone ended up just when i first bought it. I was very upset i lost everything but glad that i got my phone up and running again..
So what to do to avoid this? when doing a back up using CWR and if you are running Voodoo, MAKE SURE YOU DISABLE VOODOO BEFORE BACKING ANYTHING AND THEN SAME THING GOES FOR WHEN RESTORING, MAKE SURE VOODOO IS DISABLE. I believe this is a very important point to note but no one has ever mentioned it anywhere in the forum. Yes they advise to do backups before doing anything, they advise to disable Voodoo before flashing anything but never this. If i had known this i wouldn't have spent hours freaking out and wondering what was wrong and looking all over the place and waiting for someone to help me out.
Now i have to spend more time installing everything that i lost and getting my phone back to the way i had it before this happened. I hope this helps and that maybe it goes up in the sticky so people can easily find it.
I would like to thank jdkackley for bring up the fact that Voodoo needs to be disabled while backing and restoring.
P.S. i still can not get the weather to come up automatically on the notification bar, still in constant contact with the dev of Beautiful Widgets app.
I'm assuming you checked "Temperature Notification" in settings.... You didn't say. Are you restoring app + data each time you flash a new rom and not changing the settings of BW's?
I dont understand why you would need to keep going in and clicking save and apply... have you deleted the app, and the downloaded it again?

Yes i did click the "Temperature Notification" and still nothing, every time i restart my phone i wait about 10 minutes and nothing so i have to go into the app and click save & apply, i have also un-installed and re-installed the app and same issues. Thank you for your insight, i still have not heard from the dev in regards to me running the app on the stock launcher so i just have to wait and see what he/she says.
But the main reason of the thread was because it has not been mentioned about how to properly backup/restore if you are running Voodoo.
Do you have any apps like a task manager or autostarts?

only task manager i have is the one that came with the Fusion 1.1 rom nothing else and no auto starts.
EDIT: ok it seems to be working but i only get the temperature in the notification bar about 10-15 minutes after the phone is turned on and is finished with the boot sequence, i thought it should come on automatically. E-mailed the dev on this and waiting for a reply.
I just turned on the notification bar temp... rebooted.
It took about 4 minutes and the temp is showing up.
I have autostarts installed which prevents a lot of apps from opening on boot. Not sure if that helped with my better time. I also have BW set to refresh on wake (and the automatic refresh is like 8 hours or something long).
A great developer... I'm sure he can figure it out. You may want to ask if a logcat is needed... you may want to try an app like autostarts too (free for the 24 hour window, cant hurt).

ok been keeping an eye on my phone since my last reboot 2:10 local time and it is now 2:25 local time and still nothing so i guess we can disregard my edit from last post. i will try the refresh on wake and see what happens.
EDIT: well my phone has been up for 7 minutes and still nothing, very aggravating. just have to wait on the dev.
Sorry if it's been asked already but has anyone else have this problem worked perfectly on v3.0.2
Have you got it enabled in Display?

Have you asked this in the relevant ROM thread or fancied putting it on Lees bug tracker for him to take a look at?

I can't post in the development forum due a severe lack of postings
I had the same issue with ARHD, redownloaded and reflashed the animation and it works now. And yes, I had it enabled in settings.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Had the same issue when i made the speed of the rom go to fast within spare parts, just knock it down to normal on both trainsition and window and it should sort it out.
If it doesn't then disable the animation from display, reboot your phone, switch it back on and enable, lock your device wait for a few seconds then re open and see if it comes back on.
Chances are it's the speed of the windows animations, or the animations are set to off.
Hope this helps.
wow now i feel dumb. I was going out of my mind trying to get the crt off animation working on ARHD 5.2.1 and now i find out i had to enable it in settings.
Still Talkback FC
Good evening,
don't know where to write this issue,...
after flashing 3.3.1 still have the fc of talkback. No addon installed, just LeeDroid. It is an amazing rom, the battery life is really great now. But I still can't use talkback-every time I try to use this instead of touch input, I have to restart the phone. Sense crashes. Somebody an idea of solving this issue? Someone with similar experiences?
Seb.
I´ve been looking around the forum to see if i´m not the only one with this problem but it´s seems that way.
I have a problem with faux kernel v018 and v020 and the fauxclock app... somehow i just can´t calibrate it (i think is that)
i flashed the kernel, wipe cache/dalvik, go to fauxclock app, apply the following settings (a bit below on that page)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...8222&page=1371
and it runs great! for a while... but after about 12 hours or when i put the phone in my pocket it just freeze! I'm not familiar with the technical definition of that kind of problem, but the screen is just... unresponsive! to any touch i can lock the screen and wake it up with the power bottom but that´s it!... had to power off and on the N4 as soon as boot up go fauxclock app and disable all... or going into recovery and flash the stock kernel... i have read in the developers section that it might be the uv settings... but i´m a noob at this kinds of calibrations and terminology.
i really like faux kernel because of s2w, the screen control and the battery/performance... i don´t know if i´m in the right section of the forum, but i hope for an answer... cheers!

yup i just saw it...thanks! and i´m trying right now step by step with any combination, according with what i have read in several sites is that might be uv settings... tried with 0, -100, -125, -150 and nothing, gonna keep trying and see if anyone on this forum had that kind of problem.
So the title says it all im on current golden eye I have flashed done a clean install and I notice when im on the lock screen and I receive a sms my phone decides to reboot I have used the suggested kernel as im in canada any ideas?
Not sure if I can factory reset while on golden eye and keep golden eye after this is done. I have seen similar issues in here with other roms.
I would love to keep this rom as my daily driver as everything works well except this little hiccup. .
Oh and a little off my original topic I have also noticed XDA keeps reloading after I signed in and cant zoom in I have had this issue on many roms not just this one..
Anyways thanks in advance for any ideas to help.
think I figured it out
Seems as though it was widget locker 2.4.1 deleted it and bam hasnt rebooted yet I liked it because I can swype to unlock and after a set amount of time I would have my lock screen any one know how to achieve this with out widget locker?
I would recommend posting in the GoldenEye thread and asking iB4STiD there. He does great with responding to questions that are not already covered in that thread.
Hey, @houstonn! Everyone,
First, I've really wanted to thank you for the longest for all the work you've put in for for all LGG2 variants. I've been with you from the beginning, the quiet kid at the back of the class without the ten notches to do anything other than click Thanks! But it's been awesome. Even getting myself out of some sticky situations alone has tested my metal. It's a good thing I like to read.
K. More adulation later. Just have wanted to make note of something that I haven't ever seen throughout the PA thread concerning the d801 from the 12/24 build to present working 12/31. Don't wanna bring you more headaches after reading about v.01/03, but I'm hoping you or someone can verify an issue I've been experiencing on the three latest builds.
I can clean install PA using TWRP 2.6.3.4 Do so always as with the 2day 12/27 skin I was wearing until dirty flashing the 12/31 just now. Upon initial boot everything is spot on. I'll have already flashed my backup apps post gapps and be setting up, Google Now and offline voice recognition downloaed then set to auto update. Google Now will work hands free for a good while so I can't be exact about the interval between it working and losing the prompt in the Search box, which in turn leads to SMS fails in both stock messaging and Hangouts. I still receive SMS via both apps, but my sends fail every time after something 'breaks'.
I did notice something yesterday while running forensics. I switched Hangouts to batch MMS mode and texted to one party and pinged myself as well. So Hangouts/Messaging only works in MMS mode for me. I've yet to read this anywhere in the novel that is your thread and I do read, so correct me if this has been addressed. I checked App Ops and found the SMS send set to off in Stock Messaging but everything on in Hangouts, but figured that had to be the cause or Hangouts' doing by default since both apps must use the same broadcast intent, thus why both don't audibly run at once. It's really the only problem I have but it seemed strangely obscure enough to mention. I can't think of a possible cause or a way to track it other than running a log. Fall short of doing so cuz I have another phone running custom KK 4.4.2 and I have no problems messaging with it. As for Google Now and voice Recog, when I go back into language settings, my alternate languages will have disappeared until I toggle back and forth between 'when to update' and 'available to DL languages'. By then, English UK (US), French & Spanish have repopulated the downloaded field, yet hands free voice recog fails.
Otherwise, no other errors. I freakin love this ROM and with UV/OC, I'm maxing out some lengthy battery life upwards of 14 hours with screen on for 8 out of the whole! Yea, I'm on it feverishly but who can blame me. It's wicked smooth and you're awesome!!!
Thanks heaps!

I'm sorry, if it is a problem having my post here under the labeled Q&A thread for my device, I understand if you need to move it. As I really had a minute issue and was unable to post directly to the PA forum at the time, searched and evidently missed the thread you mentioned, I saw no problem in posting under the General device specific Q&A. Thanks for the correction. I'll be more thorough in searching next time.
