Samsung has just confirmed that, just as previously announced, itsGalaxy S II and Galaxy Note*handsets will be among the first to get updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich*by the end of the first quarter of 2012. This means that there’s no more than two months to wait until the*ICS update*finally hits the two devices. We should note, though, that the update is most likely due Q1 2012 for the international version of the handset, while local versions like the US carrier ones might have to wait longer until they get updated.*The Samsung Galaxy Note for starters is not even available yet stateside. The Note is expected to land on AT&T on February 19th, and still feature Gingerbread upon launch. The two devices will get most of the benefits of Ice Cream Sandwich included the improved visuals and functionality, but it remains to be seen how the different versions of the devices will get specific functions like Android Beam which requires NFC. When it comes to the Galaxy S II only some versions like the AT&T have an NFC chip, so the others would obviously not support it.source:*Samsung Norway*via*UberGizmo

Hi, just read this article.
http://www.androidcentral.com/samsung-israel-says-galaxy-s-ii-ics-update-coming-mar-15
Hopefully it will be the same for us.
The news comes from the official Israel facebook

Well the note has a couple of specific functions that the SII don't have, so let's cross our fingers that we don't have to wait any further

I doubt it, I would expect to see a few more leaks before a real on is out.
Samsung has promised release BEFORE the end of 1st quarter!
31 march is deadline! Hope they did not betray and lie us.
Sweet! I could care less about spen, so this should require minimal difficulty to port.

Where did you get this information?
Samsung Italy believes otherwise:

I hope the dev's @ Samsung manage to get out the Note update asap, aside from the resolution, 1.4 instead of 1.2 ghz and a few apps the Sgs 2 and Note are pretty similar to each other...
I guess Samsung will release the Jellybean update on this date. At this rate we are looking forward to an earlier roll out. The day that will change the world!
What do you think?

Funny how Apple will hold an event for their iPhone 5 on the same day. ^^

I think you may be right and I will tell you why!!!
In australia there are Pre-orders going on for the new Samsung Galaxy LTE QUAD +2 GB Ram and delivery Date set for the 20th September. Which I have Ordered the Titanium Grey 32GB unlocked version of someone I know . And On the specs it says Software - 4.1.1 JELLY BEAN.. I asked one of the customer service and they confirmed it will be shipped with the new 4.1.1 Jelly bean. So 100% the official will be out atleast 1week before the 20th which is approximately 12th September
Jelly bean here we come!!!

Apple's death warrant?
samsung should release final version of jb just a couple of hours before the release event of iphone,, this will at least keep us busy in flashing rather than watching the event

Updates have usually been a slow drip starting with a few European countries and gradually rolled out followed by a network roll out . Pointless trying to grab attention of Apple lovers or even keep Android users happy by releasing on that date .
One thing is certain all those who have posted xx date for JB release have been wrong to date .

I guess we have to wait and see.

Thread closed, we have a sticky for JB discussion.
JB for the Note II has been out for a while now. Note II specs are remarkably similar to SGN10.1 specs. JB with Note II multitasking competes well with W8. The current configuration not so much.
So, open letter to Samsung. Time to push out the JB OTA now! You are going to start losing SGN10.1 users to W8 devices. Get your act together and OTA us dammit. This is a new device. We should NOT be made to wait like this. Pisses us off and just bad business for you.
And if you are delaying us just so your W8 devices can get a foothold you are going to have some unhappy early adopters on your hands.
Get it done.
P.S., This post will solve nothing but It felt good to vent.

Thing are done allot different in tablet mode than in normal phone mode so the fact that the note II has same hardware as note 10.1 doesn't make it easy to make a jelly bean rom for it, the interface is completly different

How long should we wait,I support the open post:good:,bring it on Samsung,we have already paid you the price.
Sadly, I don't think Samsung listen to you.

To those who would switch, it would most likely be a Samsung Ativ, so to Samsung it's the right pocket moving to the left and its still Samsung.

What concerns me is that we aren't even seeing any new test builds of the JB OTA with all the Note II goodies in them. You would think they would throw a few test builds out before the actual OTA release. Nothing on Sammy at all.
This makes me think we aren't even close.
just an fyi, but us americans aren't seeing some of the note 2 goodies on the note 2 yet. gotta wait on an update - no multiview is one.

We paid the price for the ICS and it has been updated anything else is just yet to come when Samsung thinks it's ready and or the right time for them.
Yes, it's always a good idea to try to put pressure on a company to release software they don't think is ready. I mean, we all know they develop things and just wait and wait for no reason before releasing.

Sadly, we consumers "pay the price" whenever we don't buy stock Android.
I totally forgot about CM10 tho

Is this all apps or specific apps, if not, hope samsung releases whatever needs releasing to help third party app devs implement this feature on tw
Maybe we should start flooding their facebook site on the JB update.
sadly, i would bet 8/10 people have zero idea what operating version of android is running on the note currently out of the population that has it now. the general public is completely clueless when it
comes to android.

I wouldn't expect JB out anytime soon, with 4.2 out last night Samsung probably has to start with the OS base all over again but if they had gotten to the apps then at least those are a quick copy paste but with less devs working on the S3 and Note 2 version as it is practically out we will probably see the update coming through in December late November unless they give us 4.1 and we wait for 4.2.

My first generation note have come through allot of updates (2.3.3/ 2.3.6/4.0.3 /4.04 /4.04 with s3 touch wizard / and finally 4.11 jelly bean with full note 2 software features) I hope we will be treated the same way they treated the original note in terms of updates
Sent from my X10S using xda app-developers app
that depends on how many note 10.1 are sold note sold in millions and hence its still supported
As pranav mistry (the guy developed the sixth sense project. ..check it out on TED) said during the unpacked event today.......come October. .note 2, s3 and s4 will get the update to make it compatible with the galaxy gear smart watch
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
There was no mention of the Note 2. They said S4 and S3 will get 4.3 in October. No other device was mentioned when it comes to upgrades. It may be a worrisome fact or it may just be that Samsung felt no need to specifically mention the Note 2.
It was mentioned during the galaxy gear presentation. ..you missed it out.

I thought he did, but I'm pretty sure it was meant to have if not.

The update is needed for compatibility with the announced Galaxy Gear, which is launching October. The update for past models will hit later, so expect end of October/November.
