Access SD from Computer - Dualboot <SOLVED> - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running (Dualboot Mirage CM7 / ICS CM9) on SD. I used to be able to stick my SD into the computer and it reads the card and when I put it back into the Nook. Now I am trying to do the same with Dualboot Mirage CM7 / ICS CM9 I cant access the same partition on the tablet.
I want to put some pdf files onto the SD and have it read onto tablet.

You can't do that with SD installs, (verygreen or dual boot). When you put the card in your PC, all it sees is the first partition which is 'boot'. The solution is to boot to CM7 and use your usb cable to connect to the PC. On the nook select 'turn on usb storage' and your sdcard will show on the PC. Copy your files there.

This is, unfortunately, normal. None of the builds allow the micro SD to be mounted as a USB storage device on your PC. Stock is the same.

Thanks for the reply, Then how do i install Clockwork v08? it says it has to be installed on Micro SD, I'm trying to install VEGAn.
When u add it to the SD card (by removing it from the tablet and reading it directly for your PC)) then reinserting it to the tablet), and then power off and then back on with the volume+ held in, it will read the files on the SD card.

And actually, if you use clockworkmod .08, it reads /sdcard by default (that's the internal memory) when you use it.
I have a ZIP of cwm .08 in my TnT Lite dev post, and that is setup to be used on /sdcard, not micro SD. you drop the update.zip and /recovery folder to the root of /sdcard (via the drive letter on your PC), reboot into recovery and it should find and install clockworkmod.

CWM wont show SD card contents...

So I rooted this stupid tablet and put the custom acer recovery app or whatever it is on it. Installed the proper CWM, and when I boot into recovery and try into install zip from SD card all it shows is "Lost.dir". Nothing else. What am I doing wrong?? The ROM/Kernel I want are on the root of my sd card, why isn't it showing up?
Because the tablet isn't stupid it knows exactly where the files should go but you didn't put them there? You just put your files into a wrong directory namely your internal storage.
/sdcard/ = internal storage which isn't used by CWM
/mnt/external_sd/ = SD card which is accessed by CWM
EDIT:
And in case you're looking for USB... The tablet mounts it under /mnt/usb_storage

Files can also be put on a USB flash drive and CWM will see them there also

Take your time and have patience. I know the feeling. How are you transferring the data to the micro SD card? Can you use a file manager app to access the card, /mnt/external_sd?

Again over and over ..try another SD card maybe two this is a very common issue.very common
Try diffrent SD cards if you have not
Or use a USB drive and flash from there. I do it all the time if I'm to lazy to copy the files to my SD card.
I am also stumped with the the acer reading the micro sd card. I am able to see it using root explorer. However, I cant see it when it is connected to my computer. I had to place my sd card in my galaxy tab in order to transfer files to it, and then place it in the iconia. That appeared to be the only way to put the rom on the root of my sd card. I want to save my stock back up to my computer in case I damage my sd card, but there seems to be no way to do it with out removing the card and placing it in another device. Am I missing something? Dont want to start another thread, so I'm asking here because it looks like it's been seen by other users.

FYI ( just in case ) !!!
When fully booted... SD CARD is the internal storage... and the physical card is shown as EXTERNAL SD CARD !
When at CWM recovery... SD CARD is the real physical card !
again KNOWN ISSUE

[q] urgent help needed!!

Ok, I have CWM and I can access it. I cannot read from my External SD Card to install a rom. I can access my Internal SD but I do not have a rom in there.
I cannot boot into the previous ROM since I erased everything and when restarting I get boot loops. I need the tablet to get back to work tomorrow.
Any help would be greatly apreciated.
I have a ROM downloaded in my PC but when I connect the A500 to the PC (via USB) I cannot mount it to copy it there and flash.
HELP please!!!
What version of CWM do you have. I think the new one can install ROM from USB drive. Also try reformatting the SD card in a PC in FAT32, some time its just that and some time tablet is picky what SD card it can read and what it cant.

I was able to put the SD Card from my phone and flashed the new rom. The tablet is sill not recognizing the SD Card though. I put it on my PC and it wont detect it (cant format it that way). I put it on my printer and I am able to read from it but I cannot format it. It tells me that is right protected.
I need to find another way of formatting it.
Thanks for your help.
I suggest you get a new sd card. Clearly the one you're trying to use is not working.
I'm not even sure if you can "write protect" an SD. Maybe something on the micro SD adapter perhaps (switch)? Or an option in Windows Explorer (check the sd's "properties". If it says "write protected", then turn it off.

Evergreens SD card helpful solution CM7/CM9

I dont remove the SD card throughout the whole process of formating, imaging, and copying files over to it while it is in the Nook for installing CM7/CM9. I boot to internal Nook software and format the card through the Nook. Then I image it with the appropriate image. I resize it if necessary and copy the installation files over to it and then restart it. I do this because I have had problems unmounting it in the PC and then remounting it again to put files on it from the PC. If you need to add files to the boot parition later on, I just reboot to internal Nook and mount the SD card on PC through Nook software. Works great for me since I hated taking the card out all the time.
Yesterday I installed CM9 to a bootable sd card and my 2 biggest problems with this setup are: can't seem to get a usb hookup to a Windows PC working for either boot or sdcard, and can't get Adobe Flash to work. Anyone else?

Flash does not work yet on CM9. Dunno about the USB..I don't use it.
I am using a recent ICS nightly and have the same problem. It worked on an earlier install so this may be something with the current nightly. One work around is just to boot into stock nook and then connect.

Can not gain Root. [v1.3.0]

Hello, I'm new to the Nook world. I'm Currently Trying to Root a Stock Nook v1.3.0.
Here's how the about screen looks (Minus User Info)
::Software Version::
1.3.0
::Model Number::
BNRV200
::Serial Number::
2014370085802011
I have a 2G SanDisk MicroSD Card.
I've followed the directions on this thread to the T.

I have my SD Card setup with the Clockwork Image.
http://monster-rootpack.googlecode.com
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
So here's the issue.
I turn of my Nook, put in my Micro SD, plug in USB. But the nook boots straight into the Nook 1.3.0. No ClockworkMod Recovery.
I've tried using an 8G, 4G, and a couple of 2G's I have laying around. None of them work.
I'm using my phone as the SD connector, mounted in Clockwork. SD Only, nothing else (Can't do ADB, that's how I know its only the SD connected).
I just wanna get MIUI on my nook. Can somebody please help me, as I'd love to have this Nook Rooted.
Please feel free to PM me any info you have.
Just to make this point clear, you run the risk of damaging your cell phone by using it as a SD connector.
There is no need to root the factory firmware to install MIUI.
First download this bootable CWM image, HERE
If you are using windows, download Win32DiskImager, HERE
Use Win32DiskImager to flash the bootable CWM image to your SD card, this is where it can damage your phone if you don’t select the correct drive
Once the image has been flashed to the SD card, use windows explorer to copy the MIUI zip file onto the SD card.
With the Nook Color off, put that SD card into your NC, and turn it on
Now it should boot into recovery, and you can flash the MIUI zip to the device
Don't use your phone as your SD reader and make sure to run Win32 as admin.
