[Q] Windows with Aero-Look - Windows 8 General

[Redaktion, can you please integrate the Attached Bitmap here? THX A Lot!]
Windows-CE Phone with Aero Glass Surface
Windows should look out more clear and attractive, serious. The Handling should be better.
1. For what do you need colored Icons, simple Elegance with Glass-Effect, like “professional” Windows-Desktop would look more professional. Tiles should be all the same Size and with common-Look of Glass and additional the Picture of your Choice, that you view in Standby-Complete, just with A Clock upside.
- Do you need -> Symbol? There is enough Place for 3 Raws of glazed Tiles.
- Do somehow miss Symbols of Tiles Function? Everyone can read Words.
When you beginn Minimum-Design, why not finish IT? There should be some Alternative for Business-People, that gives Difference to all the coloured
Phone-Toys!
2. There should be some
Taskmanager with _ [] X Symbols at the opened Windows-Tiles when you click on two Times.
3. Animated Icons help to overview running Applications. Some Flash-out-Effect should be there when you hold the Finger on A Tile filling the Screen, with the Preview of the Tiles Function. Example: opened Websessions, like this 1 from Windows-Desktop.
4. Also, i miss the original Fileexplorer - there should be additional some Upload-Client for Skydrive, FTP-Uploader and A physical Share-Function, with Bluetooth and via Mail. The Media-Explorer ignores all my File-Structure, Names, Formats. There is not Copy and Paste.
5. Tiles & Functions
A >>Pager<< could collect every Social-Networks together and RSS. There should be Updates for additional Headlines, Networks and for Developers Plugins. At the Market (-place) you can buy.
Library, is the classic Study-Tool I’m searching for! Please look at the Tiles on the Preview-Bitmap. This integrates A Function for re-viewing Bookmarks – also from Web-Sessions, view PDFs, also for Music-Playlists. Library should help to load Sessions fast.
More i put together:
- Calls/ Contact-Managing, take Photo, Video-Call
- Chat/ for “on-Phone” Contact-Managing, that is opposite to Social-Networks, because this Fun-Stuff steals much Business-Time, it’s sourced up to the Pager with all the other Headlines.
- Camera
- Calendar/ Appointments, take Pictures+ Barcode-Scanner, Notes
- collect and draw Ideas/ ---> #8, the Creativity-Studio (downside).
- Office is classic MS-Tools/ with Calculator, Countdown-Function, Light on Device,
- Navigation
- Browser
- Music
- File-Explorer
- Programs/ Applications, Tools, Entertainment (like TV, Gambling, Videos on Line)
6. There should be the Stylus again by exactly working Ballpoint-Top that is Pressure-sensible.&
7. Hand script-Recognition should be re-integrated. Modes of Recognition_
- 1 Script-Mode
- 2 geometric drawing
- 3 Symbols (search for Clipart online)
- 4 Math-Formula-Recognition.
R-M should switch automated.
- There should be Updates.

8. CREATIVITY - STUDIO
There, the best Ideas are on my Way, what i like most on Microsoft-Products is Completeness.
There should be some Design-Mode (look, Ideas-Tile), that unites
- MS-Paint, adds Geometric-Drawing-Mode, combined with
- MS Word and Excel, auto-recognizing Text-Boxs, Tables and
- organizes all Pages together MS-Powerpoint ready
- also with Youtube-Output, by adding Audio-Comments, that you reccord later.
9. No Borders, while-Brainstorming, when you collect Ideas!
Just the raw-Idea (on a virtual Sheet of Paper) should count. Idea, that you can simply start with
and the Device works like Content-Manager; it recognizes, asks and re-arranges your Draw and puts Ideas out later, in option-able Multi-Format of your Choice (Bitmap-Collection, Powerpoit, Email, Powerpoint and Video-Presentations, also raw-Web-Presentation with Photocollections).
You can edit all the raw-Stuff later, on your Desktop, (that’s for Homework).
10. Updates and Panel-Programs can be bought at the Market (-place, ---> Tile),
Example: with CAD-App.

Good point, but what is the sense of this ?

damned if I know.
I found that very hard to understand, however from some of the bits you mention id like to point you to WM 6.5... that pretty much sums up what your looking for, course its crap at games but it nails everything else you want and can be modded to within a inch of its life

Updated 3/26 : CEPhotoViewer - Small Photo Viewer

Folks,
I have created a small photo viewing application that I wanted to publish to the world. Key features are
- Native C code. No dependencies on .NET or any other library
- Tiny (just 25Kb)
- Full screen photos with gestures and hot-spots
- Slide-show mode
- Nice transitions (you can see them all in the slide show mode)
I have tested this on my GPS (CE 4.2) and PDA (Hermes) and it works quite well.
Gestures:
- Slide left to go to next photo in list (You can also use the wheel down for this)
- Slide right to go to previous photo list (You can also use the wheel up for this)
- Slide up to go to last photo in list
- Slide down to go to first photo in list
Hot Spots
- Top left to open a specific folder. Folder navigation is done by sliding up and down and select the <This Folder> to select
- Bottom left to open a specific photo. Again, you can slide up or down or go to a specific folder
- Bottom Right to start/stop slide show mode. Slideshow is 3 seconds. You can change the config file to specify different interval
- Top right to exit
- Right edge of screen to go to next photo in list
- Left edge of screen to go to previous photo list (You can also use the wheel up for this)
- Bottom edge of screen to go to last photo in list
- Top edge of screen to go to first photo in list
Configuration
CEPhotoViewer saves its configuration in CEPhotoViewer.cfg in the same folder as the exe. This file contains the last open folder and the slide show timeout
Startup
- On startup CEPhotoViewer looks for any JPG/BMP/GIF images in the program's folder. Else it prompts you to select a folder. Once selected the config file is created and subsequent runs, it will automatically pickup that folder
Bugs
- CEPhotoViewer uses native microsoft DLL to load a image. Depending on the speed of your CPU, this loading might be slow. Photos resized to the correct size (under 640x480) load pretty quickly. Large (2MP+) photos take a couple of seconds to load. Perhaps someday I will include native JPG loading codeDone
- CEPhotoViewer is built for ARM CPUs only. I can build for other CPUs but dont have a device handy
Looking forward to your comments. Im also working on finishing a MP3 player and a launcher (more appropriate for GPS devices)
Version history
- v0.67 (3/25/2008)
First public release- v0.68 (3/26/2008)
Integrated JPEG processing. Much faster in loading big images (although the size tripled from 20Kb to 60Kb)Added edge hot-spots to navigate in addition to slide gestures
Feature Request
What do you think of adding in touch Pan, Tilt, Zoom, & Rotate? Also, it would be cool if it auto rotated based on the original pictures orientation.
Thanks,
Curious G
i'll give this a shot when i get home

Forgot to mention, pictures are auto-rotated if they can fit better in the screen. Also auto-rotates if you change the display (like when I pull out the keyboard)
Nice but it wouldn't load my actual (2mp) photos. Sliding is a bit slow but very smooth. Wouldn't quit and at some point all corners stopped working.

Loading large images is time consuming, sorry, thats the way microsoft has implemented JPG processing. The corners are not 'not responding', the program is still trying to load the image.
Im trying to compile ijl jpg library that can loaded scaled images, that way I only decompress the size I want
3/26 - Version updated
Guess I'm in the minority who resizes images to fit in PDA screen. Due to popular demand, I have integrated the IJG jpeg library to considerably speed up loading of large images (largely due to internal image scaling)
Also added edge hotspots to navigate images, rather than slides which are bit cumbersome
my personal opinion(i havent seen program YET):
any viewer, that cannot show gif/animgif/png/tga/bmp files is pointless.
it doesn't matter how "touch"-ed it will be.
so - i am gonna update opinion after tests..

It does show gif and bmp. Adding png is trivial (libpng can be compiled easily in CE, both PNG and TIF take about 100Kb each). My intent is to what cover 80% of the people would want.
Just tried it on my Trinity and, while the transition speed is nothing to write home about, the software works. Not sure if i prefer this or S2V, but it has to be said this is a nice application.
Edit
Could do with more space at the top when navigating folders, the directory path disappers under the "This Folder" button.
Please could we have screenshots?

It shows your photo on the full screen, so screenshots are not of any use

The main goal of writing this app was to have it working on all CE devices (including GPS that do not have the .NET framework installed).
Also, there are more transitions than just the slides that are visible when you are in slide-show mode
Amazing Program!!
I've just gotten myself a windows mobile phone. I looked everywhere for a simple photo viewer that could scroll through images by tapping on the left or right of the screen. I didnt understand why resco photoviewer or pqv or any of those other photo viewers didnt have this feature. It was so frustrating.
Also I wanted to browse folders starting at a pre-configured Picture folder. I didnt want the program to go scanning my whole PDA for pics including gifs and pngs for some other softwares.
Finally found this program and I'm really happy.
I wonder if you're still developing this program though? This thread doesnt seem to be active anymore. I hope you'll still continue developing this program.
If you're too busy, I'd be happy to help in some aspects of coding or improving the program. It really is that amazing to me.
Hope this program is still alive.

Glad to hear that this application is working well for you.
I have not stopped development on this, added additional features like PNG, GIF decoding and automatic rotation.
This being a PPC forum, there is not much need for this app since there are multiple options (including built-in applications). I had made this app and many others primarily for GPS and other low end devices without the standard libraries.
I will update this thread with the latest version and also add other applications I have built (including native MP3/OGG player, simple shell, GPS dashboard etc), all totally skinnable and configurable
The program has been amazing. Loads huge pictures with no problem. It's definitely faster than Vito's EyePhoto.
But Coolsva, I have a question. Now call me crazy, but I want to be able to set it up so that when I click a jpg file in file explorer or total commander, it will open up in your photoviewer instead of the windows mobile default viewer (coz it sucks). What're the parameters to do so? I tried the normal parameter "%1" but it doesn't seem to work.
I'm glad you're still working on this program.
Cool program , but zoom would be nice feature

Just now landed at this thread after spending a while checking out google results for "windows mobile picture viewer". Coolsva's prog sounds very worth trying, but I'm wondering if 0.68 is still the latest release?

does al this software work properly on the blackstone if you dont mind me asking anyone
I use flexmail from webis every day!
I would be interested in hearing from anybody who uses email program that incorporates mailling list. What I hope we can do is to create containers that each holds as many email addresses as we choose. Then, when we create or forward mails, we enter the name of that container into the email address instead of enter all the emails individually.
Anyone knows of such an email program?
A lot of those feels a bit redundant on the blackstone. Can anyone confirm if FtouchSL works well together with touchflo3d?
I agree. I used to be a big FtouchSL fan but to be really honest I just don't need it anymore with the blackstone. THe list of "must have" programs for me has shrunk drastically after getting this device. I'm a business user and I mostly do TONS of e-mail and sms, a decent amount of web stuff, listen to MP3's at gym, and GPS nav. My "must-haves":
1. Touchpal, in landscape or protrait I am much faster with this than on my old hermes hardware keyboard, and compared to the miniscule keys on the touch pro?? No comparison... Touchpal also lets me go back and forth between chinese and english in the same sentence without clicking anything which saves me TONS of time
2. AE Button Plus or Magic Button- you'll need something to remap the volume buttons to scroll up and down, there are a couple of places where the touch-scrolling will just let you down on this device and annoy you, programs list and call history are two that come to mind.... I also prefer to map the back button to screen toggle so I can use landscape mode for typing, I find this to be faster at rotating the screen than the g-sensor based solutions (gsen, gyrator) and causes zero stability issues
3. HD Tweak- fantastic freeware from XDA's own, complies wth app to date so always has the latest tweeks and fixes, I like this better than Schaps old tool...sorry!
4. Total Commander- obviously the stock file browser still sucks in WM. I like TC, others prefer Resco.
5. PIM backup- when the inevitible ROM flash comes...you'll want all those sms, e-mail, and contact info to be easilly restored.
THis next one I don't consider "must -have" but it is pretty cool, though I don;t use it that often:
1. COre Player- why fiddle around with converting vids and all that? Just buy the darn player and watch the vids. I personally am never going to watch entire movies on this little screen but every now and then it's nice to be able to load some cartoons or something for a train ride.
That's all I've got on there now besides a few extra g-sensor games (my wife LOVES them) and to be honest, I am loving this phone more than any other device I've ever had.

Very good.
Okay, I've got a request:
I need a little program, which is the same like BluePower which switches BT on when connecting to AC but a little bit more extended.
So, 2 things are very needed:
1. A popup which asks if BT should really switched on (YES/NO; Standard: YES)
2. This prog should recognize if a BT-device is connected so BT should stay on when loosing AC-Power
That's for now

simple but very very usuful
photo uploader
hi, i'm looking for a program to upload, pictures/photo's/video to my own website. like, you make a picture and then you can select to upload it to your own specified website. maybe also the posebillety with gps position and some comments. don't know if it's possible.
pls think about it!
grtz heyk
hey i m looking for photoeditor for elfin can u made it
Really cool would be, to have an small app like g-profile, which for example turns on wi-fi on an fixed placed at an fixed time.
for example i come home, it recognizes this gsm singnal, and wi-fi turns on.
or i get to work, its not yet my breakt and it turns the volume to just vibra. than my break starts and volume turns up.
gprofile can do such thing but just with one reason, gsm OR time, i would need both
i want if you fancy making a simple but functional hard key program swapper so i can change the hardkeys setting easily to other programs.
thanks for the offer wish I could do this.
I wouldlike to log calls in contact notes like agendasfusion.
callcalendaris close but buggyand logsonly incalendar.
a weather app like weatherpanel where wallpaperis live radar
a calculator app with running tape, and a transparent keyboard
looks like youre gonna be busy!
i was thinkin recently of working with someone to make some palm pre-like apps
the fluidity of the apps on that device ive seen in preview vids and the wonderful use of the small screen real estate (no top and bottom bars, minimal buttons), is something that is almost necessary on screens like my htc touch (same screen size as the palm pre)
so, i would provide all the graphics for these apps, just need a developer
i think so far pocketcm contacts has contacts/sms covered.. very smooth scrolling, with a skin i can acheive the same simplicity and great use of fullscreen view on a small screen as i whippd up in this photoshop mockup:
i think what winmo needs is a good email interceptor app.. there are none that are skinnable to the extent of pocketcm contacts or as fluid, and then an image viewer (see palm pre screenshots of that app here -simple but very useful-:http://www.engadget.com/photos/palm-pre-official-ui-shots-1/1290333/ you can find videos all over) and a similar calendar app
most needed is the email app
if you could develop trust me.. you would have an insane following of obedient users
weve been looking for one for a long time, but its never come thru
if you make it, ill provide graphics!
think about it

What about a application, an actual good and working application that lets you create group distribution lists for email groups in your contacts similar to how the blackberry allows you to do it from their contact list and be able to use the group listing whether creating a new email or forwarding an email. I am shocked that this issue hasn't been addressed sooner.

Complete lack of integration between calendar + contacts and email + contacts is very disheartening!
My problem is that I do a lot of presentations, and all the presentation pointer/remote apps out there cannot meet my needs in terms of simplicity. All of them require me to run a server app on my PC.
I have used one in Palm that emulates a bluetooth HID keyboard/mouse, meaning it can do anything that your mouse or keyboard can do. The app requires to have virtual keys for Ctrl, Alt, Del, Function keys.

Papi Jump
Hi!
My idea is to make a game, similar to Papi Jump (a great game for iPhone) - you can see the game on this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQxltToeNXo . It's an arcade game - you control a jumping ball with tilting your device.
It would be great if could make this game work for Windows Mobile.
Since we're all tossing stuff into the "wishing well", I can add something too
An application that would scroll RSS feeds on Home screen in Manila.
Of course, such an app isn't hard to make, the RSS Hub saves its channels into simple files - the problem is how to incorporate it into Home screen.
Well, I got an idea for that as well! Recently a small program called Personalizer showed up that enables us to change the network provider name into anything we want - that would be the perfect place for RSS scroller to show up! And since there already exists a way to modify this data, I suppose it would be possible to use Personalizer as backdoor for the feeds to show up in that text filed!
Even if they wouldn't actually "scroll", I think they could be made to change every 4-5 seconds.

Or how about a Config-Editor for FingerPoint? ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=499734 ) - so there's no more need to edit the XML Config File manually?
How about an application that reminds you to drink water and tracks how much water you have drank per day. As everyone should know, the average male should drink 3 to 5 liters of water everyday and ladies should drink 2 to 4 liters.
How about a litle app that:
1-Reminds you to drink
2-Allows you to input how much water you have drank (when reminded or manually)
In the long run, you could monitor how much water you consume on a monthly, qaurterly ,biannually and yearly basis.

Ideas for better Handling Manila and Windows-Mobile

Everything should be more in One and in one style and less than a puzzle-Operating-System. More handle, more flowing, more user-friendly.
0. There should be some possibility to Plug-In New Panels for Manila and to switch Panels Off. For example, I don`t need some weather-panel, cause i see this when I go in front of our house, some additional functions would make more sense:
1. Integrated RSS-reader/ news-plugin (like the Email-Overflow-View in Manila.)
2. Media-Player-Plugin for all kind of media (photos and Videos also like MP3, this should support Flv-Youtube-Videos and Livestream-Media too. The player should be aviable by browsing with the windows-browser, instead of mediaplayer and much more aplications.
3. Windows-Mobile-Browser: the scrolling-bar should be invisible! When you go right-edge of the screen with the finger over it, the scroll-bar should appear, it should have always the same size, finger-friendly fat and the background should be half unvisible (so that you see the bar visible in front of the window and the rest, in which the bar is moved, is blended over the window like glass.)
- there should be the possibility for saving Playlists by handling like in the core media player - direct, easy.
4. PDF-Reader: should be integrated in the opera-mobile-browser, scrolling and zooming should be possible also like in opera. The Opera-Browser should be aviable also offline for watching pdf-files. Some E-Book-Manager would make sense for Manila. It should be possible to set bookmarks for every PDF-E-Book with notes for them, which you can share later too and save common with the ebooks, it's uncomfortable to read ebooks with the Acrobat-Mobile Reader. That should be easy and flowing like the iPhone-View.
5. In Opera-Browser should be the function for saving a whole Websession (all opened Tabs in one boomark). You should can open more windows than 3 in one.
- there should be some integrated function, for printing webpages later wireless via bluetooth.
- There should be some possibility to syncronize opera boomarks with active-sync too.
6. It should be possible for the programm-panel to list every programm automated in the shortcut-view.
7. Also at contacts-shortcut, it should be possible to select, that every person has to be listed with a picture, not only some.
8. It should be possible at the phone, to select, that every answered call should be on loudspeakers opened. It should be possible, to select, that the scrolldown for viewing options while calling should be also on one view, without scrolling down, as a standart, so that scrolling isn't needed.
- Add a phonecall/ Number as an apointment should also be possible at Outlook.
9. The Option for Audio-Booster should be aviable also without using a headset.
10. There should be the option, to link the Youtube-Player shortcut at Manila with other Programms, there are Programms too, with which you can record and download clips.
11. Perhaps a shortcut for a painting-panel could be integrated too, so if you scroll to this, you can draw directly notes, like at a sheet of paper.
12. Listening to Music/ Watching whole SD-Card-Movies (insted of DVD) wireless over Bluetooth by streaming Audio and Video to your TV or the Home-Sound-System should be possible, also with Dolby 5.1 Quality and with HD-Movie-Quality (100HZ). That would be really cool to use the Pocket PC as Media-Player and for easy-connect to presentation-Systems like a video-beamer. For this there should be some better processors, better bluetooth, bluetooth-universal-media-stream-formate and recieving components for video and audio, who you can connect to your Home-System too.
13. For Fun, there should be some dejaying-programm for pda, for playing loops and sound-samples on the pda with different effects and on multiple bands at one time. And with synthesizers and a scratching-panel.
good ideas but most of them impossible unless you start programing yourself...
some solutions:
0. there is "manila 2d customizer" M2DC
3. if you meant the file explorer you can use resco's explorer its more functional & customizable
7. in contacts everyone shown with picture maybe you don't have pics for all ur contacts
8. with some programs its possible to set answered calls on speaker so probably there is some registry key for this & i didn't understood what you meant in "scrolldown for viewing options while calling" but everything while calling depends on dialer you have so you can install another dialer
9. for better audio install SRS WOW HD
13. dj programs exist i remember seeing something like this and there are also programs like cubase to make songs i dont remember names but if u search youll find
and the best solution to every problem is search...

I Need a word processor with print layout view.

So I have alot of .doc and .docx files I frequently view and edit for law school. problem is, they are all written in and meant for viewing in Word's print layout view, except for my class notes in Notebook layout view.
I've used docs to go and now Officesuite 5. both have the same problem: they can't do print layout view. instead, they format all text to fit the full screen width, so there's no text offscreen or white space at edges. this is a problem, because it totally screws up things like tables my professors put in their instructions, and anything with bullet points. worse, if I try to edit anything, I have no way of knowing what it's going to look like once I'm back on my computer, which is where I do about 95% of my work anyway. so I sometimes end up having to fix notes I try to take on my tablet or phone, and sometimes the edits I make end up with flaws I can't seem to fix.
Also, since my notes are done in the notebook view, I have different sections for my classes, and I use Word's tabs on the side of the display to quickly switch between the classes to find what I need. The mobile versions don't have this either, instead they require me to scroll through AAAAALLLL my notes from the first sections to get to the second, third, fourth, fifth. Not good, especially since each section can be over 50 pages.
TL,DR: I need an android word processor with a viewing option that matches MS Word's print layout view, and if it can also separate sections from Word's notebook view or let me jump between them easily, that would be great as well.
Have you tried olive office?
Or if you don't mind cloud software. Yo ucan use onlive desktop and just use the wondows 7 office setup. THe free one has limited storage but plenty for word docs, if yo ustore alot of music and vids you woudl have to go pro for 4.99 /month.
Remebr it is cloud. So you need wifi or internet connection to connect to the windows 7 machine. But you will have office 2010 to use.
