WTF??!!? Have you made the usual hard reset, battery out, put it into Bootloader mode, reflashed or anything like it?
Doesn't sound good. I'll find you on IM.

i do...
also it was really hot when i picked it up
EDIT: just fixed it... seems the battery got ultra drained somehow ... went from 90% - 0 in 30 min... i dont know why that happened
that's wierd...Mine would not turn on yesterday. It just had a blank screen with the Green light on around the joystick (like it was fully charged). So I soft reset and nothing, still green light and blank screen. So set it to bootloader mode and ran mtty to check it out, Mtty tests were normal and nothing seemed wrong, tried reset, check for bad blocks, and the normal info and task commands, everything looked normal, but it would not boot up...took out the battery and waited 10 minutes, still green light and blank screen. Charged battery still same issues
SO I tried to hard reset...still same thing,, it asked to confirm hard reset, looked like it did hard reset, but still same problem..
SO I finally, put it in bootloader, reloaded the wm6 HTC__001 rom and it worked fine, Restored from backup and I was back to normal...But I was starting to get a little scared that some how my advantage was bricked...
Haven't had any problems since....Wierd

There are two main methods:
1. Try using the search function.
2. Read the wiki.
Try either of these and you will suceed. Ask without doing either and you will become unpopular!

take it out and leave it for a bit

same here, after doing Olipro's AthenaUnlocker step 1 and went to Bootloader mode to check spl version. my device is stuck to its bootloader mode & when i soft reset the only thing that will turn on is the led light of the joystick. is there a way to bring it back to normal mode from bootloader mode?
thanks in advace!

Typically this is caused by some software running in the back ground. Try to disable anything from running and then re-enable one thing at a time and see if you can isolate the problem. Sometimes it's two programs conflicting with each other so you may have to do some experimentation here. Hope this helps.

That is weird and scary. Did you try to remove the battery then plug the device into the power source with the battery out also?

Yes, something about flashing a specific version to your device but since this never happened to me i don't have details. Feel free to search the threads....i know it's somewhere at the top. Have fun!

I had my ameo also drawing 1,5A from the battery (actually powerdrain was higher than charge current) Never found out why.
I took my phone out of my pocket and noticed the flash was stuck on. It is not in the camera mode, I can turn on the flash in the camera mode and it gets brighter, but when off it still stays on. I have taken out the battery and nothing seems to turn it off. As soon as I put the battery back in the light comes on and the phone is off. Is this something that I can fix or is this yet another warrenty issue? I already did the warrenty for the crack(twice because they failed to put it back together correctly) and it is cracked again, just not as bad.
I have tried a soft reset, hard reset, the light is stuck on. Any suggestions?
I think it is a hardware faulty so give it back to sonyericsson...
Maybe first let it on until it burn so you can tell us how many hours does the led last on....Alive...Just kidding...But this will be helpful for knowledge....
By the way when did it started it keep on after a fall maybe?
Or else..Did you install some program or maybe flash any rom?
Or does it came so by service?

No, I did not load any software recently. No drop, no flashed rom, the service was done a couple months ago.
I called them up as it seemed like a hardware issue. The light stayed on all night, had to wait for SE to open before I could call. He suggested an update to the phone, didn't make sense as the light was on as soon as it got power. It would light up with just the power cord plugged in and no battery, phone not turned on. It would light up as soon as I installed the battery, phone not turned on. It would get bright when in camera mode and I would turn on the flash, but when I turned off the flash it would still be a dim light.
Anyway, I started the update from the SE site, it loaded and said to take out the battery. Then reinstall and press the Volume down and power until the colored screen appears. Plug in the USB and it would start to load but not install the program. It would try to install then give a "can not find device" message. I tried a few times, then just decided to take out the battery to get it out of the bootloader screen. When I turned it over the light was no longer on. This makes no sense to me. I turned on the camera and the flash still comes on. This is weird how the attempt to flash the update would fix the issue. Anyone have an idea on how this happened?
My wing died on me big time while flashing a WM6.5 ROM.
Wont turn on, wont light up at all when plugged in, wont be noticed by computer when USB'd .
I tried multiple reset tactics, but nothing gets the phone to show any signs of life.
Any help?
I figure I cant use a gold card or do anything at all if the unit wont even turn on in the slightest. I have tried a charged battery from another wing as well.... nothing.
Can you get it too boot up in bootloader mode? Press the power button while holding down the camera key until you see a 3 color bootloader screen.
Also, was your Wing HardSPL'd before you tried to flash this ROM? Which ROM was it? Did you use flash center or an RUU? More information is needed if possible.

I cannot get to the bootloader screen.
I did not have hard SPL before trying to flash.
The ROM I used was choi3es WM6.5 at the link below
http://thewingster.com/wm65.aspx
I used flash center.
Oh dang, here I was thinking you where some kind of n00b. My apoligies...well yes, it seems that you may have just had a bad flash, try hitting up the Wiki for the instructions on making a gold card...that may be the only way to fix the old girl.

Same with me. No sign of life in my Herald.
No lights even when you connected to charge (wall charger or PC), no bootloader,
Do we have any luck of recovering.
Is there any JTAG solution for Herald.
My Nexus one won't turn on. I tried flashing RADIO 32.24.00.22U_4.03.00.21_2 that I downloaded from Modaco.
After it failed to install showing the error message like
"Multiple Radio images"
and a few others I try to reboot it.
when trying to reboot it there showed a picture of a android and a orangish arrow and a box.
Help...I think I bricked it.
Help?
Please?
Can you get into boot loader? Hold down the track ball, then power on, and keep holding down the track ball...
Also, try holding down the "volume down" toggle button while powering on if the track ball method doesn't work...
If both don't do anything but take you to that same screen, let it sit on that screen for a bit, say 10 minutes just in case...
If still nothing, see what happens when you plug your phone into your computer with the data cable, is it recognized? If so, can you get ADB to recognize it?

can u get to the recovery image? if u can, its not bricked.
well I tried plugging it into the computer, I tried the wall charger, and nothing seems to work. The LED doesn't come on, and the button combination doesn't work. So I think it's dead for good. :C Before everything got screwed All I saw was a box and an arrow pointing at a android. Which I think meant it was unboxing. I then thought it froze so I tried to take the battery out, and after that it didn't turn on anymore. No LED, no recovery, no nothing. :C Quite sad.
Why the f are so many people intent on taking their batteries out while the phone is updating? I'm not saying that led to the bricking...but it probably didn't help.

This part takes a few minutes. I am not totally sure what is happening at this point but I'm assuming it's not good to remove battery during this. Mine sat on that screen for a few min and then finished.
Try to boot up with volume down button held. Then use volume arrows to choose recovery and hit power.

Everyone expects everything to be instant these days... "Uh oh! The screen isn't doing anything, it's been at least 20 seconds! I could just wait and leave it for a few minutes like all the guides say to do. Or I could take my battery out...how could that hurt, right?"
For me it took a good 3-4 minutes on the screen with the arrow and the box.
Anyways, if you can't get to the recovery then you might be buying a new N1.
ahh it took like 5 minutes for me, I have to admit I was a little worried since you dont see status bars or anything, but like said, the guides warn for this.
I cant imagine that removing the battery broke it though, he should be able to load a recovery image
I feel sad for him so bumping
Bleh. I'll just have to wait and see. I'll contact HTC.

If you remove the battery during the period he did, which is when the phone is actually flashing the radio ROM, yes removing the battery can and likely did break it for him. There are 2 ways to brick an Android device, while flashing a radio ROM and while flashing an SPL...
OP, have you tried any of the button combos we have recommended? Have you tried putting your battery in the phone, then without turning it on, putting it on the charger to see if it can charge the battery at least (you said it wasn't even turning on, which is likely because you have a dead battery)... charge the battery first, then try the button combo's we recommended.
And please, when you report back, and not to sound like an ass, do so clearly and systematically (I can't tell from your posts what did or didn't happen, and whether you tried anything we suggested, nor what the current state of the phone is)... so, please use this format to make it clear to us trying to help:
Battery: Charged or Wouldn't Charge (LED will come on if it is charging)
Trackball+Power: Booted into boot loader, yay! or Went to the damn box
Volume down+Power: Booted into fast boot! or Went to the damn box
And remember, you have to hold down the button, either trackball or volume down, then press the power and keep holding down the trackball or volume down until it either goes to boot loader or it goes to the box screen... you might want to even wait for a minute on the box screen(if it goes to that) while holding down the button to make sure it can't get into boot loader...
Okay so I took the battery out, put it back in, and tried charging it. The Battery LED did not come on, so I'm guessing it's not charging.
The Trackball+Power did not work.
The Volume down+Power did not work.
I think I most likely broke it, due to the fact that I took the battery out while it was flashing the radio ROM onto the phone. I kinda did it on a impulse, which is my fault. So do you think it'd be possible if I did contact HTC they'd send me a swap, and not be able to make my phone work or turn on, and everything will go on as if I "broke" it and not unlock it or anything?

It sounds like you have a true brick... disruption of the radio ROM flashing causes lots of bricks, and did so for you.
It is pretty common, at least with T-Mobile with the G1, to call them up and tell them your phone asked you to update, and while updating it froze and won't turn on or charge anymore. Not sure if HTC will handle it the same as T-Mobile did, but if they do they will just send you a new unit, you send the old one back, and you are back up and running... they might ask that you send it to them first, but there is no way for them to test if it was rooted/unlock boot loader if it can't be powered on, so you should be fine.
Sweet. So I called HTC, and they said they'll repair it, but I asked for a swap instead, so I'll be getting one by either Wednesday, or Thursday. Good stuff! I'll tell you all how it goes. :] Now I am stuck with my Nokia N95. Thanks for all your help.

Yeah, he doesn't have to tell them... but they don't have to cover his phone either.
If they find out it's unlocked after the fact, they can charge you to repair the phone.
How exactly will they know he unlocked the bootloader if the device cannot even properly turn on, unless htc has other methods of being able to "restore" the phone, then he should be rather ok. Am I not looking into this deeply enough? Can the phone turn on with a new battery or something? Does HTC have alternatives ways of checking?

That's my point man.. I don't know. All they have to see is that open padlock and they can deny the claim.
I have noticed that my charging LED on the front of the phone is always on and always even if the battery is very low it still remains green,it appears that it is has stuck,i tried everything that i could think of,first i took the battery out of the phone but after putting back in it lit again even when the phone was turned off, then i let it the battery die completely but even with the battery dead for 3 hours the light was still on,i rebooted the phone several times but nothing again, this problem for sure is giving me less battery life and also if the LED continues to stay lit all the time it will die some time soon too!
Can anyone help me with my problem?
Always on when the charger is plugged (which is normal) or on even if the charger is not plugged?
Factory reset and or reflash rom...
It is always on when even if the charger is not plugged,24 hours a day!
And it does't even turn red when battery is low, it stays green.
I would need some help here,i would like to try to Factory reset and reflash the rom,but i am a vey new android user (10 days that i bought my X5) and i don't know how to reflash the rom and also is there a way to not loose everything that is installed on the phone by doing a Factory reset ?
The phone has stock rom and not rooted!
Just go to shop where you have got it
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
I already have gone to where i bought the phone and the manager told me that for such a minor problem they will not DOA my phone
and that it will take at least 15-20 days to send it for service and back, and they will probably have to open the phone(a thing that i would like to avoid)and i cant stay with my SE W800(backup phone)for that long of a period.
This is the second X5 that i got and both had problems, the first one had blue tooth problems where when connected by blue tooth the phone could not play any media-mp3 at all,not even YouTube videos, they stalled very badly, and they gave me a new X5 and DOA the first.

Where are the LED settings?
I suppose you have a non rooted and with stock rom device.
If yes, you don't have any LED settings.
I think that you need first to do a factory reset to see if the problem still remains. You can try use Huawei' s hiSuite to take a backup of phones, messages and apps, if works for you. Otherwise(and maybe with hiSuite too, if doesn't work) you'll need to root the device(you can do it not permanently with z4root) and take a backup with titanium backup or another similar app.
I just talked to the service here in Greece and they told me that since even when the phone is turned of the Led still stays lit then it's probably a hardware issue and they don't think that a factory reset will do anything to solve it.
