As the title states, where can I find the nookie froyo 0.6.8 emmc flashable zip? I know that every other rom is better but someone is paying me to get this on her nook and I can't find it anywhere. All the links here are dead.
Just tell them that CM7 is better and use that. I don't see why anyone would want to be using an outdated and dead rom...

Trust me I tried telling her that
You may have tired telling her that but it really is a disservice to put that on anybody's device. I am guessing she has absolutely no idea about anything having to do with the Nook and simply repeated something she heard somewhere.
Throw CM7 on there and she won't know the difference. Thankfully for her it will be much better than the alternative. If she does want something else after having CM7 you can always change it at that time.
Ooooor i could just put cm7 on it and slap on the retrodroid theme
BAM! She'll never know the difference.
Thanks for the replies guys

If she doesn't even tell the difference then as a friend, you should let her know in detail what that is and about, not tricking her into some old stuff. Let her know that the Froyo is like Windows 98 (if she uses Windows at all) and nowadays we all use Win7, and Win8 is around the corner. Froyo is just that, CM7 (or gingerbread alike) is Win7 and ICS is Win8.
Make sure she understands that.
Be a good friend.

That's actually exactly what I ended up doing lol I told her about the retrodroid theme and that's the whole reason she wanted it (the froyo look)
She's using cm7 now and loving it.

Just wondering if anyone had tried porting it or anything like that. That would be neat.
Go ahead and try it. Let us know how it works out for you...
I'll try and fiddle around with it.
There was a thread about it and someone was working it, but its under all these topics. Would be nice to have though.

I don't think any true "porting" would be necessary. If we were to push/pull the right apks/libs, it would probably fire right up. They have a system dump of the Motorola Enzo in the general Android development forums that I was looking at last night... the system/app directory seemed to contain multiple apks related to the blur interface...
I didn't look to far into it... unsure if it'll run on 2.1 currently. I'd rather work on porting Windows Mobile Classic.
I attempted and got it booting, but didn't have time to fix the issues.
Once we get FriendStream I think blur is useless.

Maybe, but FriendStream honestly kinda sucks compared to MotoBlur in my opinion. Not as feature rich.
do they even have motoblur yet running on anything 2.1? Don't think the droid has it...
If you are going to try. Go download s_blur on the G1 forums, it would give you a good starting base, then take it appart pull its kernel out, put our kernel in.
I had to stop when I was having issues with my linux liveCD and using CPIO. Can't unpack/repack the files with out that. and for some reason it just wouldn't work for me. I was going to try again one day because it would be cool.
But anyways:
Once you get our kernel in it, it will boot. but just about everything force closes.
Where do you get FriendStream?

?, I haven't found it to be anymore feature packed (From what I tried on the Moto Backflip), FS is more compacted whereas MB is split (widget wise).
I think its better split up cause if you follow a lot of people its hard to manage that with FriendStream, I dont know.
if it was possible to port onto the HTC Touch then its possible for our phone it just requires a dev with the knowhow and the demand for such a rom. lets be honest as much as our devs love to tweak their phones they also need some love in the form of donations because this work isnt easy. I was building my own roms for my Touch before the Hero came along and it was tedious work. That said if its ever done I will try this out as I just bought my girl a Moto Cliq and she seems to LOVE it. I honestly tho will never buy another phone that isnt made by HTC
I was fiddling around with this too. I got it to boot and connect to Sprint.... but that's all I got it to do.

You act like that's a bad thing. I know nothing about building roms, but a start is a start. Anyhow, a blur rom would be awesome to have. I personally like the look of motoblur.
I had this running on the touch vogue when it first came out. It's ok but sense is way better for me and really don't do the social networking thing. Now if it had anti-social networking I'd be using it right now.
Just went to look at the dev section. Come on... Really?

FYI about "all" the roms... in terms of FROYO roms, they are virtually ALL THE SAME -- CM6. The rest of them are actually just rebranded CM6.
Thanks for the sweet input. I'm sure the community will decide to stop working on all of their different ROMs, themes, and whatnot to suit your belief.
It's not that bad - there were times when you could choose from really different ROMs, but then Cyanogen started to support G1 with his CyanogenMod and these days there's only few the bravest who try to build their ROM from AOSP, not from CM source.
So it's like CM AND themed/renamed/scripted MC.

Maybe over time, not updated ones. You have no idea how sweet it was when Donut was still the big player.

Heh, it's like when I first got my G1 and watching the android store: "Oh! There's another one!".
I've been around since the beginning and you are right about how "sweet" and exciting it was when the updates came fast and furious. I guess I've been spoiled by that experience, and now it seems to me there are two pages of same ol' different bonnet.
To be clear, not saying this is a bad thing.
yeah, feel ya buddy, i got my g1 less than a week ago, and i felt exactly like you when i wanted to chose a ROM to flash.
I flashed CM6 just to try it out, then switched to biffmod 2.sth, which is like a shaved CM. biff runs a lot faster than CM for me, but i need some ROM that will let at leaste SOME ram free, and that wont kill my battery in just a few hours.. i guess ill have to go for eclair or donut,, i just didnt want to miss froyo updates..
so if you do find some good ROM, let me know

Chromium 4.5. It's in the first two pages, I'm on an iPad now so posting links is like pulling teeth, sorry. I've been on Super F now for 24+ hours and it's pretty good too.
Anyone able to recommend a donut or eclair that is still being maintained I would be much obliged.
aaaah I think its called "Chromatic", not "Chromium", thats why I couldnt find it.. lol
ill give it a try, but anyways, Im still looking for a very light 2.1 to see if I can get more battery life and RAM
I'm looking for a rom that runs basically vanilla android? does anyone know of any that are completed? essentially, the slowness of blur it's what I'm trying to get rid of.

well your best bet to learn about them... is to read about them. every ROM has a huge list of features and screenshots. do the homework and make your choice that way.
This thread I believe has all but one of the ROMs available for the Atrix listed in it if you scroll down, it's near the bottom, then you can go through each thread, look at screen shots, requirements to flash, etc. When I was trying to decide which ROM to flash first I used this thread as a guide, kept it open in one tab and opened the threads for each individual ROM in another tab.

Congratulations on an effective thread-crap.
OP: Alien seems pretty good to me. Snappier than stock, been stable for me... I am personally waiting for a touch more polish before putting CM7 on my daily driver.

I agree that Alien is a great ROM (I'm using it), but it's not a Vanilla ROM as the OP has asked for, and it's not as de-blurred as, say, Ninja or something. I dunno how usable Ninja is now, as Sam had to temporarily leave it for CM work...
@OP, you could surely flash the CM7 pre-beta, as it's quite stable. The only major thing that doesn't work as of now is the Camera, I believe...
I was just thinking as an idea or suggestion for the atrix it'dbe cool if there was a dual boot for it haha. i don't really know alot about this phone so i'm what my name is when it comes to developing although i wanna learn how to develope mods and stuff. but is there a way to somehow put 2 roms together and have the phone think one is webtop and can view it on the phone? like to have cm7 as primary then put miui in the webtop partition since they use the same kernel (I think?) lol or is this something that can never happen? just wanted to stir up some ideas. also probs to the people who make my phone 10X better.

Yeah it's not impossible to do, just finicky... I'm trying to work on it in my free time.
Let me first start by saying the rom doesnt boot completely. It boots all the way to when the screen dims and vibrates, when it is about to display lockscreen.. Logcat shows everything installing and starting correctly.. It wasn't hard to get to this stage, so it gave me a little bit of confidence in this awesome project.. Froyo was my favorite android version, as it was a huge upgrade for my old hero.
I thought it would be hilarious to release cm6 for the nexus s, heck I would have run it for the rest of my nexus's lifetime.
So, let me know what you guys think.. keep digging around to get it booting or give up because its old news..
If anyone wants to help for just a fun proof of concept project, or just to poke around, lemme know, the more the merrier
That is all. Waste of a thread, but that is what the general section is for.
LOL in this time and age running froyo is like going back to xp from windows 7. But yeah as a proof of concept its kind of interesting;-) What would be really interesting, is running gingerbread on the gnx
Oh wow.... I don't even know what to say.....
I would absolutely try this out

They are incompatibility. Because Nexus S is the first Gingerbread-device, Androi 2.3.0 is the lowest compatibly OS version.
You also can't install System V(AT&T's Unix system since about 1970) in your computer.

Yes this is true, but the point is that its almost booting.. I knew this from the start, it will require back porting drivers and probably a few kernel edits, but it may be possible.. in the end its just Linux running on a few upgraded drivers and a few kernel changes..

Not without doing some back porting.
This is much easier to do from Gingerbread back to Froyo though, since you are building something to run on the same hardware and software stack (ARM and Android 2.x). The most difficult part would be getting drivers to work, but just as older drivers are made to work on new OS versions with shims and other tricks, in theory this is possible, if not a lot of work.
I'm not sure what will be gained though. Gingerbread didn't seem like a significant resource drain over Froyo, so I can't imagine there are any speed/power gains.

Yeah, its funny because I tried porting a froyo touchwiz rom from the og epic, and it got to pretty much the same place when booting haha.. hopefully I can get this working, along with other variations of froyo, that would be the greatest achievement for me in any android related stuff.
