Hey guys,
I see that around here no1 announced this, so it looks like it's gonna' be me

There's apparently a waiting list (i'm unfortunately on it). But some of you mite just be lucky to get a head start. So, any feedback would be welcome.
The apps already available on the market. And google docs now allows you to upload any files up to 5gb. *not sure if it wasn't just the same before*
anywayz, check it out, and if anyone gets ahead of me in using it, give us some feedback
Lol why use this when Box gives you 50GB ??

I got it two days ago. Seriously it isn't impressive for me. My Google documents and drive seem to be collaborated. I believe mediafire is the best.
True , I found Google drive much better for uploading personal pictures and other multimedia stuff. For small files I thing drive is more convenient.
Plus , the current Google app for drive doesn't allow to change privacy settings as of now.
I am still not used to the sharing mechanism.
Like in mediafire , when you make a file public , you can Google it and you can have a direct download link.
Till now , I made some of my files public , tried googling them , but couldn't find them. Plus I found no direct download link. Maybe drive is not meant to be used the way I am using it.
I still prefer other websites like mediafire as of today for public sharing.

ahm...just went on box.com and they don't offer anymore the 50gb free storage, you like have to pay around 20 bucks a month for the 50gb option...you only get the usual 5gb for free.
EDIT: aaaa...yes, box does offer 50gb if you install their app from market!!! sorry guys and thanks

The promo they had was probably to get customers/user.
I like dropbox and i think drive is gonna be something like it, and will seamlessly blend with the whole android experience, being made by google. It's just at the start. I think it has potential, and we just have to wait.
I can live with 5gb as long as it offers functionality and comfort in use. See Apple's cloud services, dropbox, microsoft's etc...they pretty much all offer around the same amount of free storage, no?
One more thing. The only reason why i use only dropbox for the time being is that it integratest perfectly with my computer and my phone. I just hope that drive will be just the same...

I tried it, its a bit temperamental here in the uk.
Google have basically reinvented twitter, but in this case it is potentially useful!
I dont have the layer for maps, of the icon on the browser - maybe cuz im uk??

Update your Google Maps to 4.0.0 and you'll have Buzz!
I tried it and it's really cool, I think I'm only using it with latitude tho.. prefer twitter.
The mobile page is still a bit slow but looks good.
Didn't try the "nearby" yet, is it available in Maps too? can't find it right now
I went to my Gmail page on my laptop, and didn't have a Buzz label. I haven't tried updating Maps on my phone yet, but I will now and play with it...

Not only that, but Buzz doesn't really fill the same niche that Twitter does. Twitter has Geolocation, but doesn't really focus on it. Twitter is more about mini-conversations, and sharing byte-sized information.
This is kind of like Britekite or something.

yes, the Nearby list is sorted via proximity, and on the map, they expire after 24hrs.
anyone having the issue with "posting" the first time you try to post via the mobile site - you may need to turn ON your pop-up windows. There is a pop-up that asks for permission to show your location.
I ended up downloading Dolphin, and it worked there (after the pop-up)... after that the stock Android browser worked correctly.

it works now, but i dont like the idea of a web browser app... if there's enough votes, I can build a (awesome looking + fast), app store (more like a repo, but will work the same way)...
I know php, so im thinking have a web portal for devs/app-makers to upload apps to... and then have an client app as a download portal... and I can prolly make it have a metro-esque UI... i have a huge collection of apps, but most of them are paid, so unless lets say gameloft decides to upload them to the repo and get paid through an app like this... theres no way to put those on there even :-/... if you guys want one for free apps/games... jsut comment below...
Hey, this is a great idea and could blow up in a big way for the forum users/cooks! Even if you did an app, the cooks could have you put in a section for them so you could link their ROMs and tweaks all in one handy location. Problem I see is so many people wanting it to be updated all the time and you not having the time to do it; and I doubt you would get enough donations to make this a full time job! But I do think this is a great idea, app or browser based! Looks promising so far!
my plan is to make it into an app it was just a little test only spent a few min on it last night. Just design stage at the moment.
cool... yea lemme know if u need help... ... and i still prefer the design to be something metro-esque... HD2 deserves better eye candy than the iPhone
EDIT: Oh and dont like the idea of hosting files on megaupload... I have a server with lots of space and unlimited bandwidth... so like I said... web portal for devs/companies to upload apps... and client portal on phone to download straight from the server...
Upgrade hasn't rolled out, but look forward to this soon!

Windows 7 Google Phone Market - Coming Soon!
/puke
I'd like a market that doesn't forget my downloads and break my links. Other than that, they can make it look like 1998 Geocities page for all I care.
What's up with all the hating on the new design? That's just the page that opens up the first time! Who knows what the rest of the market is like and how they sort and list their apps. I'm just saying don't be so quick to judge it.
I'd like a market where you can get rid of the god damn pay apps that are utterly useless or don't use or ever plan to use again.
For instance.. OpenHome.. It's old crap and no one uses it anymore yet it contributes to "My Apps" clutter. I have a decent collection of pay crap I simply don't use, and don't ever intend to use again.. In 2 years our "My Apps" list is going to be stupidly long and a burden. Google needs a "Delete from account" option.

It's funny, because there are a lot of people that think WinPhone7 looks great (I being among them) but it is certainly a polarizing design. There are many people that you do, indeed, speak for. Nobody seems to be in the middle, that's for sure. You love it or you hate it.

Yea...sorry frustrated. The site wont let me update it though. Stuck with it now.
I don't know how that petition site works so not sure if you can edit your existing text, but it should only include the facts of the issue which are:
- microSD card support does not work 4 months after release
- no word on when 4G support will be available 4 months after release
As we wait, neither of the above features work as we watch other tablets release with fully functional microSD slots and 4G support.
My opinion (and is only my opinion) at this point, I have lost 1/2 the value of the tablet for the features that should have already been implemented. Maybe even more since the Xoom was already priced more than any tablet that released with these features working.

Put that in the comments of the petition that way when I print it out they see all that.
I just see all these concerns being wasted in this forum when they could be put there and printed out and mailed ya know.
So please don't waste those great thoughts in here anymore
A petition can't be changed once it's live, else people can sub X for Y and subvert the original premise.

Awesome thank you. We need the support.
I wonder why no one here uses dropbox (www.dropbox.com). It gives you 2 gb for free and you use it as a windows (or whatever OS) folder, so you just drag and drop files there and they get uploaded. Then you get a direct link to share the file. Seems like a whole lot better alternative now that most of these hosting sites are having problems or are being closed.
or google code, or sourceforge...
Yeah, that would work even better.
And when files on dropbox and you have dropbox account , you can copy files from someone dropbox to ur dropbox.
This is the primary reason why Dropbox is not used for sharing ROMs.

When lots of people download one file, it gets too popular and uses too much bandwidth, thus Dropbox temporary suspends downloads. You can imagine the results.
I think Google Code would be better here.

Theres another site 'dev-host'.
And using box.net or min.us works too!
Box.net also lets you know when someone has downloaded your file and
Gives you weekly statistics on whats being downloaded and where and how many times! XD

Box.net seems a good ideia. I haven't used nothing from my 50 Gb prize from SE. (It's forever or just for one year?) I can't use the app from the phone. It force closes on my X10 MP, but I was able to get the bonus. This 50 Gb should be enough for a dev, don't think so?

Well, seems you missed out two simple facts ...
1. Box has the same limitation as Dropbox ... more than 10GB traffic a day and your account is temporarily suspended till the next day.
2. While the 50GB Promo upgrade comes with the bonus that you can now upload larger files (5GB Free account = 25MB/file - 50GB Promo (not to be mistaken with the 50GB Business Plan) = 100MB/file), a file still must not be larger than 100MB. This means if your ROM is larger than 100MB you'd have to split it into volumes. While you could now argue "well, then I simply create volumes and link them for download" this only increases the margin of errors (like users missing out on downloading the 2nd/3rd/... segment therefore increasing the spam posts about "can't extract the file I downloaded").
Using min.us would be a possibility, though I'm sure most devs will simply stick to MultiUpload.
