GB or Froyo Kernel?

Hi!
I'm currently using Epyslon3's CM7.1.0 on 2.2.2 official kernel for my country.
I would like to flash his ICS rom but, I need to flash GB kernel.
I saw a topic on this forum that you cannot downgrade from 2.3.4 kernel.
Does it refers to all 2.3.4 and 2.3.6 kernels depending on a region, or just to that chinese kernel ?
My current kernel is working perfectly, but I don't want to lose downgrade function.
Can someone help me ?
GB kernel to use to try the GB ICS is available either on ICS thread or in the thread in general forum. Search it out
Or you can try Quarx's Froyo kernel build too, no need to change the kernel you are using currently. Check relevant thread here.
And this should be in general or Q&A, not dev forum.
You can downgrade from the gingerbread kernel, but you can't downgrade if you flashed a full gingerbread sbf. So don't worry if you flash a kernel as long as you don't flash a sbf.
So I can flash a nandroid backup and I won't lose the downgrade possibility?

2.3.6 defy+ to froyo solved finaly

http://www.mediafire.com/?ccrnoyc738078aq FLASH WITH that rom with rsd, restart with stock recovery and wipe data cashe, restart ,now is froyo.root and put what you want,MIUI CM7 WORKS GOOD ,NOT RIGHT DOWNGRADE BUT IS FUNCTIONAL
i think it's not possible right now
According to this SBF thread there is today no downgrade from the (2.3.6) 4.5.1-134-DFP-132
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537
maybe in future if Motorola unlock bootloader... (or if/when someone hacks it)
Use only the nandroid backup, I tried it but will not or do not know ,i tried cm7 cm7.2 cm9 wont work

first study this thread carefully and learn the basics:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982
the use the search function in the forum and find and an official ROM MIUI thread
or check WIUI based on MIUI and CM7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161110
use forum-search and find (many?) other MIUI rom thread like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122595
ok it work ,,now is froyo
with chinese rom
this is rom DGC_U6_2.13.0_SIGNED_USAJRDNPRCB1B50AA039.0R_JORDANAPCNCU_P017_A042_M006_HWp3_Service1FF.sbf.gz
flash with this DGC_U6_2.13.0_SIGNED_USAJRDNPRCB1B50AA039.0R_JORDANAPCNCU_P017_A042_M006_HWp3_Service1FF.sbf.gz and you have froyo on defy+ 2.3.6 LINK http://www.mediafire.com/?ccrnoyc738078aq
Remains BL6, BUT FOR ALL OTHER MIUI , Cm7 ,CM7.2 CM9 WORKS

Follow a guide on how to instal CM7 but replace the zip file with the one from a CM9 build (for the defy, not the defy+)

TO CLEAR YOUR CONFUSIONS ABOUT GB KERNEL ICS AND FROYO KERNEL ICS
I have seen lot of confused user out there asking about which kernel to flash and stuff... So here u go read below...
So our beloved Awsome Developers make two types of nightlies
1-For DefyPlus(Can Also be used on Defy(RedLens))
These are the GB/CM9 kernel builds
These are found under /cm9-nightly-defy+/ folder of the servers which we have
To install these you need to follow the TuT to install ICS Defy Plus Above...
Green Lens Camera Wont work on these(Correct me if I and wrong)
2-For Regular Defy(Do not work on Defy plus)
These are Froyo/CM7 kernel Builds
These are found under /CM9-Nightly-Defy/ folder of the servers which we have.
To install these follow the TuT to install CM9 ICS FOR Defy stated above
3-Well there is no 3rd build(There is The MileStone2 Port by Walter79,But now that we have camera on our builds that one is not usefull...)
Click to collapse
Basically, as labsin said, you can follow the same steps of CM7 flashing guide, but changing the build with an CM9 one and adding the correct kernel. In your case, you can choose which kernel to use, because Bayer Defy is compatible with both Froyo and Gingerbread kernels.
Questions go in the Q&A section

[Q] Defy (green lens) 4.4 android and 3.0 kernel flashing

So, I want to flash 4.4 Kit Kat to my Defy, now I'm on CM10 latest built and 2.6.32.9-gb08c3c8 kernel. And now I have few questions:
1. What's the difference between cm11-nightly-defy+/ and cm11-nightly-defy+3.0Kernel/ ?
2. If I flash cm11-nightly-defy+3.0Kernel/, will I later be allowed to downgrade kernel, and how (will flashing sbf do it)?
3. I have flashed roms before, but now I don't understand what's the flashing procedure, because I have seen few different ways of doing it and I'm not sure which one to use, so could you please tell me the right one.
4. In Quark's 4.4 project, what's the difference between AOSP and CM11?
I will appreciate any kind of help, thank you.
