[Q] Help with rebooting. - Flipside General

Just looking for some help guys.
A few days ago my phone suddenly dropped from 20mb free space to 4mb and wouldn't stop giving me the warning about available space.
SO I remember this was an issue with people who upgraded to Froyo. So I decided to wipe my phone. after the wipe the phone started rebooting everytime I installed/upgraded an app.
So I loaded up RSD Lite and flashed Froyo on it and the phone now randomly reboots about every 2 mins. I even tried downgrading to eclair, but it just gives me errors when the flash is complete.
So just looking to see if anyone has any recommendations, or is my phone destined for that great recycle bin in the sky?

Hi!
Well, I belive that I may remenber a similar issue some months ago... I dont remenber well how I really fixed and I almost sure that it fixed by reflashing again with froyo, sine this is the only resource that I had to try it out... also seems that when You upgrades to Froyo is not possible to downgrade/return to a previous android version (and it seems that is not only in FlipSide, so seems the same for other Moto models...)
so, by the way, I may suggest... Remove Your SiM and SD memory cards, Put the phone in flash mode an reflash the froyo again, and also backup you personal files from Your SD memory card and erase everything from SD memory card (prefer reformat your SD card) and then when Your phone reboot normal and after an initial setup BEFORE recopy your personal files, AGAIN reformat WITH YOUR PHONE MENU OPTION Your SD card and do an factory restart... may sounds silly so lot of erase and wipes... but in my case, after this such harsh cleanning make my trouble phones working fine and stable again, and after that I restore again my personal files to my SD card.
Good luck and best regards!

Sounded weird, can agree with that. Are you using apps2sd? Try do a backup of your sd-card, format it, wipe and install ROM. Dont restore a backup or something.
Now copy ur files back to the sd-card and see if it makes any difference
Yeah, it sounds like your ext2 (or ext3/ext4) partition for apps2sd is corrupt. It may even be an issue with your SD card. SD cards are not optimized for ext2/3/4 partitions, and as I learned through running android on my Vogue, it's rare, but your SD card can become permanently damaged by using this filesystem on it.
If formatting your SD card like sinnadyr suggested doesn't work, I would re-partition the entire card, making your FAT32 partition smaller by maybe 512MB and have everything else the same size. This will obviously result in 512MB less usable space on the card, but at that point I don't think you'd have another option anyway.
(I may be off about the size of 512MB... I'm tired and drunk and can't be bothered to look up the actual size of the swap/ext2 partitions.)
If all else fails, try a new SD card.
Your Hero can be saved
Ok... I've had this... and this is how I solved it:
-save what you have to from sd to pc
-format sd
-partition from scratch
-reboot
-put what you saved previously back on
-done
sounds easy, but it actually took me AGES in between finding out and doing it.
In my case it was due to a combination of using a program to move the cache to SD AND mounting the SD card WHILE some app was doing something (APP2SD was enabled). All I know is I never used the cache to SD program again and 3.1 is now running smooth on my hero.
Good luck
Ciao
p.s. If the steps above do not seem to work just do all the Wipes, load another rom, play with it for 2 mins, then re-do all the wipes and start off. I know I'm being a bit confusing but trust me, problem will be solved eventually. Just make sure u have plenty of time when u start the whole process
V.
There's a guide somewhere how to repartition your SD card through ADB, this is what I did when the same thing happened to me and the partitions were corrupted.

I cant turn my phone off

For some reason i cant turn my phone off. I've used 5 different versions of android and the first two roms worked fine, i could turn my phone off normally and start android right up again. But for some reason i get the error cant find rootfs on root of sd card when i try and reboot my phone after the first boot. so basically my phone cant run out of battery otherwise i have to clear out my memory card and redo everything all over again.
i dont know why this is happening but i am currently running on Omega v13 gtx rom.
Please help me try and find a way to fix it because it really sucks having to reformat my memory card every time my phone dies. Thank you
Reformat (2 or 3 times) and reinstall.
Ensure you read the "readme" file from whatever rom you are using on the SD card.
Last ditch.... consider that HTC is sending new SD cards to those who call and complain their card is unrecognized. (You may have a bad card; and HTC will replace for free.... Search these forums for info).....
i've tried that and i still havent been able to get things fixed, and im pretty sure my sd card isnt defective since only the newer builds have been doing this

[Q] Bad SD Card?

I've been getting the SD card was unexpectedly removed error for my 8GB card. Can repeat this issue by moving pocket god (or several smaller apps) to the SD card. I can how ever copy 8GB worth of data from a PC onto it, so is this issue with android/my phone or is the SD card just acting weird like this? A 2GB I got with it works just fine, just it isn't large enough to suit my needs.
Things I've tried - erasing card within android, formating to fat32 within windows as well as defragging, and threatening it with magnets.
Phone is HTC Legend running "Gingerbread + CyanogenMod". Download the ROM from derhofbauer.at/android/
Later;
Now when I copy it through the phone usb it now dismounts, but I can copy it fine through an adapter I'm using. Seems this is phone related. Will try using my default firmware tomorrow when I get time. Any suggestions here are welcome and encouraged... Really like the way this ROM looks as well as functions
It may well be the ROM, I saw some stuff on gerrit about fixing it. Check with BlaY0's ROM (or similar) or CM 6.1, see what happens
Is there a way I could go about backing up my exact settings, contacts, apps etc. into my own custom rom so if it isn't the ROM I use I could quickly go back? Still a complete idiot with android so haven't figured out theming yet and like my current ROMs look
edit;
If it was my ROM wouldn't my 2 GB one be acting up as well? Cause it's working perfectly fine, I plan on trying to return the SD card tomorrow but got a feeling they won't accept it back...

It might not, 2GB card is most probably SD aka SD 1.x, 8GB is SDHC aka SD 2.0...It might be related...
To backup your settings and ROM I would recommend backing it all up with nandroid (CWM, FakeFlash) or if you want to, you can ue some apps like Titanium Backup, My backup etc...but backing-up/restoring settings/home screens might not work across ROMs, especially going from Stock-like to CM...Contact are saved via your Google account any synchronized afterwards anyway, so don't worry there ;-)

[Q] Any hope for my SD Card?

Short story: Was running the latest (as of Dec. 4-5) ICS ROM(s) - the ones with the SD card bug - and my SD card appears to be shot.
Long story:
-----
I had been using the various betas of the ICS ROMs since I noticed Tytung's first Alpha was out and the ROMs had been improving rapidly. I guess when the headphones issue was fixed it caused problems with reading the SD Card which was documented and seems to be well known.
The constant SD messages didn't bother me much, but eventually I noticed launch icons missing and went to the Market to re-download one of the apps I use (I've been flashing so much, I wasn't sure which apps I didn't bother restoring). The Market app tells me I need a SD Card to install apps, so I just figured it's just the instability of the sd card mount for this latest batch of ROMs and I'll flash an older ROM off my SD card when I get the chance. I also noticed the messages started saying I inserted a blank SD Card but I brushed it off (couldn't look into it at the time).
I get home and find out Clockwork refuses to mount my card which means I can't easily wipe and install something else, so I switch to USB storage mode in CWM to simply transfer a ROM from my PC and my PC only sees ~30mb of my 16GB SD! I initially thought it was just some corruption but I tried all sorts of format and partitioning programs and nothing recognizes more than 30mb of space and none have even been able to format that little space that's showing.
I've been Googling for a while and came up with nothing I haven't already tried so I finally decided to post here. Is there any hope for my SD card? Being the holiday season and for once I've got most of my Christmas shopping done early, I'd rather not waste the little money I have left to run out and buy another SD card right away if it's not necessary.
-----
Does anyone have any ideas how I could fix this? I'd greatly appreciate it because I now stuck with WM6.5 and realize how much I didn't miss it for the past year
This is also a heads up for testers to be sure to upgrade their ROM ASAP (or at least to the kernel that fixes this) if they're on a ICS ROM with an SD card bug. I'm not complaining - I know this is a part of testing early builds (please ignore my sorry post count; I've been flashing for quite a while) - but there's no reason for others to go through this issue if it can be helped.
Have you tried EaseUS?
Sent from my LG-VM670 using Tapatalk
Yes,
Try Easus Partition Manager and/or MiniTool Partition Manager.
They can help but you will have to format your SD card I think.
Good luck!
I had the same problem. I plugged my card into a USB reader after it working error free, it then said it needed to be formatted and was only showing 30mb. After formatting repeatedly it still doesn't read. I haven't retired any positioning software but i think the card may just be done with.
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App
probably you'll need a replacement.
have you tried the SD formatter? there's like a 0.000001% chance it will work in your case, but why not try it?

[Q] LINK2SD Broke efs on my SM-G900H

A- I recently installed Link2SD on My rooted Galaxy S5 (SM-G900H) and everything seemed ok. The app asked me to reboot my phone, when I did my phone stuck on the SAMSUNG Logo screen and FACTORY RESET/Wipe data didn't work. I even tried emergency recovery with no luck (Error mounting efs). I fixed the efs issue and I re-installed the stock ROM and re-Rooted my device.
I didn't re-install Link2SD anymore because I'm afraid it may break my phone.
1- What is the maximum size of the ext2 partition?
2- Does it work on SM-G900H without issues?
B- Despite what they say about Kitkat and that you cannot move your apps to SD card, I have the option on my phone to move (movable apps) to SD card and that's good enough for me. I purchased a SANDISK Extreme plus 64 GB SD card (Which is formatted in exFAT by default). When I move apps to SD and reboot my phone, all the apps on SD disappear and my phone starts acting weird and apps crashes. Maybe it's because of exFAT but I'm sure the SD card is fine and not broken. That's why I wanted to try Link2SD and see it it solves the problem.
Have anyone faced theses issues? Anyone know a solution for these problems? I appreciate any help.
Bump... Me too!

Yes, I am having a very similar problem and I also have the 64GB SanDisk Extreme and SM-G900H and rooted.
Did you ever find a resolution?
My extSD seems to come and go. The last time I uninstalled the last 2 apps and it was good for 24 hours. Put I just pulled it off the charger and it started acting up again.
I cleaned the contacts, chkdsk'd it on my PC (everything reads fine) and rebooted a few times but no luck.
This post had some good recommendations but cleaning contacts, etc. didn't help me.
I was going to try an OTA update but it seems that I need to un-root first. That's my next step -- starting over.
Try FAT32

You SD card is formatted with exFAT? Try formatting it with FAT32. I didn't try it yet because I can't use my phone since my EFS partitions are gone and my IMEI code changed to 004999.... (Generic IMEI code).
Let me know if this solves your problem.

64GB will for sure need to be exFat -- FAT32 can't access all the space.
This is a good utility to reformat and fix it OR you can use the cmd level commands.
For me, I am able to use it intermittently now -- seems like it will work for hours, even days, then have a problem when I pull it off the charger. Of course, I woke up this morning and it wasn't working AGAIN.
I am on the phone now with Samsung tech support to see if there is a log somewhere that can give me more information about what is exactly failing. I did use this same card in 2 other Galaxy S5's (AT&T and T-Mobile versions) with no problem. Maybe I ruined the card when I had it in my wallet?
FAT32 - I was wrong.

I was wrong. FAT32 CAN access all the space. I reformatted with FAT32 using the fat32format program and still have the same problems.
Furthermore, it happens with and without root -- I've reflashed a million times now.
At this point, I think that I just got a bad card reader in my unit because the card went off just by tilting the phone sideways last night (clean install, no root, no apps).
Good luck to the original poster.
