Please save your dlpkg before you do your OTA update. Instruction is here (all credit to daoist):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21240036&postcount=99
The file will help the developers to build customised roms.
Thank you in advance.
Will root gone after the update?
Is the OTA root keeper work on this update?
Wil check mine tonight..

Got it on my SG TF101. Anyone knows what this does? Is it like the recent prime update? Haha
One X to rule them all
Not sure if WiFi Direct was in the settings before but its in there now and you can turn it on.
If you didn't have Play Store it replaces the Android Market icon with Play Store and appears to add/replace Play Books, Play Music and Play Movies.
Not sure what else it does under the hood. Someone confirm that WiFi Direct was in there before?
Updated the versions for GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth among others...
look good for now,
but the vpn l2tp shared key is still not working. I need that.
When updating the firmware, what's the step by step procedure of using OTA root keeper to avoid losing root? Thanks!

If they based the kernel build on the source tree for the TF101G, mempodroid is gone and unless you backed up su with OTA RootKeeper you'll lose root permanently - that is, until some other local privilege escalation vulnerability pops up (which could take a veeeeery long time).

At least we know they didn't even take the time to look at the .config changes I sent them. Sheesh.
Bottomline: you'll have to wait until the sources for this kernel are out, then you'll have two options:
add CONFIG_L2TP=y to their shipped .config and rebuild the kernel for yourself (tricky)
wait until someone else on XDA does it if you don't like playing with cross-compilers and the like
Oh, you'll need root and CWM as well
I haven't tried to download it bc I am at work, so it is waiting for me when I get home but what Android o/s is it? Still 4.0.3 or did they take initiative and put 4.0.4 on it like the Xoom recently got that seemed to fix all their problems?

But I have no idea what the update did! Popped up with a message saying "System update available"
20mb roughly to download. Kernal version says "2.6.36.3"
Build number is Acer_A500_1.139.04_COM_GEN1
So far I don't see any changes at all - it's still on 3.0.1
Anyone know what the update was for?
I found built in exchange support and a new scrollable agenda widget
Are you rooted? If so any issues ? thanks !
I was rooted.
Before the update would work I had to unroot as well as revert a few things.
as root I added cifs.ko, googlebooks.apk and the asus transformer email.apk and emailwidget.apk
not sure which of the above allowed me to update because i reverted them all at once.
I haven't tried re-rooting just yet.
Yeah I think I'm going to wait until there's some more info on this one. I would rather not risk root.
I didnt unroot and didnt need to - update went fine then rerooted with gingerbreak. Havent found any differences yet except the you tube widget seems to have shrunk.
Edit: reloading the you tube apk in the app folder seems to have brought it back to the original size.
I can't complete the update. It downloads fine but during the actual update in recovery, I get the exclamation and triangle icon.
I've tried unrooting - no difference.

Might give it a go then
Edit : couldn't update, I think it is because I removed a lot of the bloatware. Maybe I'll have to find the apks and add them again.

No update here...
Southeast USA... where is everyone else?
Already download the update. Need more confirmation to proceed.
1. Ability to re-root the device.
2. If cifs works, or need copy cifs.ko again.
3. If need to copy Eee email.apk again, and if the configuration will be lost.

Southwestern US, actually just across the border in Mexico. My tab and I are both American though. No update here either, but as noone has noticed any glaring improvements and there is no changelog, I'm in no rush to get the update. At least we know Acer is at work doing something. I'm hoping it fixes the screen coming out of standby at random as well as a few other minor issues.

Rooting works fine with gingerbreak, and it seems to be a no wipe update..... so your email. Apk should be fine. As far as cifs goes...... I haven't tried but almost positive you're gonna need to push it to your system again

South Eastern US here. No update. I bet your serial number has something to do with when you get the update if they are staggering it somehow.
Update received.
Out here in India, the OTA update showed up when I went online earlier this evening. It's installing as I write this.
Update: Installation was successful.
Android version: 3.0.1
Kernel version: 2.6.36.3
Build number: Acer_A500_1.139.04_COM_GEN1

Just got the update this morning
Im guessing it might have fixed the auto power on screen
since after the update my screen hasn't turned on once and it has been on slep for about 5 hours now
Android Version: 3.0.1
Kernel Version: 2.6.26.3
So after seeing that the transformer got netflix i went and tried the solution with out any changes.
*I take no credit for these files or figuring this out. I was just the lucky guy who decided to flash this first
1. Download both files
2. Install the netflix apk
3. Reboot Recovery
4. Install GT10.1Netflix_patch.zip via CWM
5. Reboot System
6. Enjoy
*************************
What the patch is doing is renaming the libnvomx.so in the /system/lib/ to a .bak
Then placeing then new one into /system/lib/
If there are any problems then you can use the libnvomx.so.bak so go back to default.
The libnvomx.so file is from a Xoom. Which does seem to work for our devices
*************************
So there it is folks... if you like it and it works well for you just tap the "Thanks" button for me
Pardon my ignorance, but how is this any different than just installing the APK file from yesterday? Who was this not working for (ie - what rom?)
Really no need to go through that much trouble. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1177969
The difference is that this should work with the Netflix updates to the app. So that you will not have to wait for a modded apk every time
What is in this patch file exactly?
Netflix up and running
I installed Netflix on my SGT today. Works perfectly. Didn't realize how many TV shows they offer (besides movies). For two bucks a week, it's worth it.
Does anyone know how to get this to work on the tab outside the US?

Thanks a bunch. Once I updated to UX I'd been having issues with my old .apk not working. Great! Now if I can finally get wifi tether working I'll be a happy "tabber".
Is there a problem that you are having?
Also is netflix in your country?
Should this fix my 12001 error I keep getting? The patched 1.3 does not work for me. I keep getting the same error.
I'm not sure about anyone else, but I've had the stock APK running just fine on HC 3.1 since I got my tablet last week.
I'm not rooted or anything, running nothing but the latest ROM update from Samsung, which is 3.1 of Honeycomb and I installed the offical APK of Netflix 1.3 and it has worked just fine, other than a lack of having video in correct HD settings.
I know this will take care of the 12001 error issue.. As for the HD issue. It did help me and a few others. I haven't had many people say anything about it. But that if you would like to try as well that would help me see if i can do anything about it, (if there is an issue).
The patch.zip simply renames the former file to a .bak just in case of any negative issues
Okay. So I have the stock apk installed and it runs well. My only issue is that I don't get full hd. Has this update fixed the hd issue for anyone?
Also, if/when Netflix launches official support for the GT is there any way to undo this? (if necessary)
Be aware that the "stock" apk is not working on the LTE version. It will open but gives an unable to communicate with server error.

You have to get a account from Strong Vpn.
I am paying 7,5 usd a month.
When you have the account from Strong , setup your device to use a vpn, and all your traffic will go thru that vpn. The ip address of the vpn will be an us one, and and netflix will allow you to sign in.

Thats part of the beauty of this... its takes the original libnvomx.so file and renames it libnvomx.so.bak and then places the new file there. so that when the Offical app comes out you can simply revert back.. when that comes out i will add another zip to revert back to make it simple on everyone...
I am looking into the HD problem as we speak....

I guess, for some reason 3.1 OTA is an I/O update. So far I/O tab owners haven't received the TW update yet other than that 11 MB update that locked the boot loader. I don't know if there's an 3.1 OTA for the retail version, that can be ODIN to get back the unlocked boot loader and then update the TW. In the mean time, you can install the TW posted by Doc, as I did and wait for the next update for the I/O tab owners, and flash that update when it's available. .
So far everything is working fine, even the Google movies, except for Plex. One of the guy, Darrin at Plex forum said that the fix won't be coming in near future. May be they should share their codes with some dev on xda, and I'm sure the issue would be resolved a week or so.

I finally gave the UEKMB+ROOT a try but I deleted the superuser.apk to unroot it

Hopefully when they release the next firmware I can use OTA.

I'm using UELMB+Root, and I have the movie tab in the market. What you can do is, go to accounts and sync in the settings, remove the account and add it again. Also, clear data for market and videos application. Then open the market app, follow on screen instruction. Then open videos and choose your google account. I guess this should fix it. If not, go to CWM, clear cache and dalvik cache. Then reboot.

Absolutely, and it's brilliant. This kind of thought process is what has me hoping that they've managed to make the current dock compatible with the Prime as well.
Took quite a while to check for updates, and then came back saying no update is available. Servers must be getting hammered.

I am rooted & I was able to download the update. However, the updates does start & the screen shows the file unpacking with the little Android dude. Then the the install fails. There is a triangle with an exclamation mark in the center with the Android dude. I am assuming that this means that the update failed. I am able to reboot thankfully. However how can I install the update?

I can't really speak for other users, but the stock browser is definitely working and responding faster for me. It could have something to do with the wifi being upgraded in this latest firmware or something they fixed with the browser, but it's definitely noticeable on my end since I use the tablet daily to surf the web. Also it used to take forever to type in text boxes on the stock browser and now for me it's almost instant. Also EVERY user experience is different (most likely since May), so ironic or not it's still a good thing for other users to report what they're experiencing with new firmware upgrades.

As it says the update for ASUS ICS, but CWM flashable.
*WARNING* If you are rooted, you will need OTA rootkeeper from Market to flash this patch, or flash superuser after rebooting at least once. Currently US and WW ROMs only.
--If someone has an update from another version (CN, etc.) that they want to use, PM me with a link to the file and I can build/edit a script for that too and add it in--
You should be on an odexed stock ROM (rooted of-course) in order for this to work. If you are on a custom ROM, don't bother, it won't work for you. You will need to wait for the dev of your ROM to make a patch or upgrade.
I set this up to only flash the kernal and the patches. Recovery will not be effected. This is confirmed working for me.
The US version -- http://www.mediafire.com/?3aa16qy7sh4t9m4
The WW version -- credit to Lizard -- http://www.mediafire.com/?nw4zgwvl3yug0tw
The TW version -- thanks to wai43 for the files -- http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?cfq6d5lug4q4sd8
I will not be responsible if you brick your tablet. This patch worked fine for me, but may not work for others.

I didn't wipe anything. It worked fine for me. It works just like a normal update. You may need to be sure to have all the factory installed files though. I did the update from a full stock, rooted ROM. Worked great.
You sir are awesome. Worked perfectly.
For those like mE that edited thier system.
1. I flashed ics full over my set up to restore it without losing my settings.
2. Root keeper to keep root.

Honestly, I don't know if we can profit from this... lol, but thanks is just fine. I've been dabbling in this crap for years, but I had to go back to the drawing board to get that script to work right. I hope that ASUS has their crap together and don't release a bunch of patches over the next few months, that would suck for all the devs. It is supposed to have some benefits, but I've been playing with this for a few hours and haven't seen anything amazing yet... I'm working on some thing based on this and will release soon.
BTW, for those with random reboot issues, I have yet to have experienced that -- since the original update. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

I didn't have the reboot error either. I wasn't even going to install the update. But since you made it easy....
Thanks for the uneventful update.
I HAVE experienced RR on ICS; will see what happens.
The poll in the other thread does not lead me to believe that this update fixes all the problems that lead to random reboots.
Anyway, thanks.
Btw, I tried to capture the update blob but after I renamed it, it disappeared from the /cache
I was just curious as to what you did to the update to defang it.
Is removing the recovery enough?
Does it also carry a bootloader update which you also have to remove?

I packed only the boot.img in the file. All the other junk is gone. From what I saw in the unpacked boot.img, there appears to be minor changes in the files. Quite possibly updates.

Can you just add superuser binary and the app plus busybox to the user script? I'm curious how you could go about further de clawing this update for rooted users.. maybe not wipe the system xbin folder just amend it? I'm out of my element...

I backed up su with OTA RootKeeper then rebooted into CWR. I flashed the zip, rebooted and let the update "optimize [my] apps". Once that was done I was greeted with my usual homescreen. A toast notification informed me WebKey was granted SuperUser permission, as always happens on bootup.
Surprised, I launched SuperUser and saw a corresponding new entry in the log. I double checked my current version of su, which was found to be current. I'm assuming that a "No newer version of su available" means su (and thus root) wasn't removed during the upgrade.
I next launched OTA RootKeeper which oddly reported my TF101 was no longer rooted. Nonetheless I hit RESTORE and root is back: or rather OTA RootKeeper is happy now.

Patch good for Non US Firmware?
I have tried to flash this update but I get an asset failure. Could that be due to the fact that I am running stock WW ICS and not the US version?
error
I got the error in the image I tried a couple of options including the microsd.

I didn't wipe anything. It worked fine for me. It works just like a normal backup. You may need to be sure to have all the factory installed files though. I did the update from a full stock, rooted ROM. Worked great.

that is an assert failure. The update isn't happy due to the ROM you're running. if you aren't on a US ROM, it wont update.

Thank You
Sharpe thank you for this zip. I have a US B80 and the stupid update would start to install and then after getting about a 1/4 of the way it would freeze on the android with the exclamation point. Your zip solved that problem and so far no reboots or any weirdness. I do have one question about the update though, how do I stop the tablet from trying to take the OTA(it is persistent).
Thanks
