Flash Xrecovery. And then afterwards when you flash ROM's like GingerDx (for example) , you will automatically get CWM
Here's the Guide

Still if you want CWM first

Most new ROMs have them both installed but If you haven't, install DualRecovery.zip from the multiboot thread in the development section.
CWM vs xRecovery
I don't want to hijack the OP, but I wanted to understand what the difference between xRecovery and Clockwork Mod.
I originally understood xRecovery was developed as an alternate to CWM because CWM couldn't access certain section of SE's firmware. Am I wrong?
How come we're seeing xRecovery and CWM used together now?
Thanks!
CWM is using a newer type of update-script and it can do more than xrecovery, but this scripting method is more complicated and must be configurated for every device, and I guess that´s why some of the X8´s ROMs are still using xrecovery/amend scripting.
So it´s better when you have them both.
Hey,
I did everyting I s-offed I did the clockworkmod recovery thing also I made a backup but I can't install a custum rom it keeps saying.
Installing update and nothing happens?
I wiped all date etc.
Please help me
If u r trying to install gingerbread rom (2.3) then u need a clockworkmod recovery 3.x and + to do that.
And if u r trying to install froyo or lower (2.2 or lower), then u need a clockworkmod recovery 2.x to do that . I think this is what u r facing. If so, then open rom manager and flash 2.5.0.7 recovery. This creates a file called "update.zip" on root of memory card. Now go to custom recovery and first flash the update.zip which gives u clockworkmod 2.x temporarily on the fly. Now u can start the installation of 2.2 or lower roms.
Hope it helps

The only possibility then might be the rom file might have gone bad. (AFAIK).
If so downloading a fresh one might help. Although i can't say anything sure.
Please Help!!
I have Xperia X8 E15i
I have xrecovery installed and I used it successfully for backuping and restoring at very bad situations ...
Now I am interested in Dual Booting ...
I need to install ClockWorkMod ...
May I use CWM-recovery-3.2.0.0-r3-x10mini-Amend.zip or CWM-recovery-4.0.1.5-e15-Amend or any other
1. Is it an automated install ... means I only need to flash as an update.zip
2.Any other thing I need to do for complete installation ?
3.Can I restore those backups ( made by xrecovery ) with ClockWorkMod ?
4.Iam going to install floyo 0.30 ... will that harm installation of ClockWorkMod ...
5.How will I install that ROM ... it said to restore that ROM as from a backup file by xRecovery ... can I use ClockWorkMod to restore that ROM ?
Thanks for your kind attention ...

CWM backups are not compatible to xRec.
Some CWM versions can restore xRec backups.
Sorry, cant test it, I`m using custom kernel and have "only" CWM

Most ROMS have instructions in the first post but basically you need to:
0)Backup everything (installing a custom ROM requires that you factory reset your phone)
1)Root your phone. Since this is your first time installing a custom ROM (search the forum for rooting methods)
2)Install ClockWorkMod (CWM). You can keep a backup of your previous recovery if you want.
3)Download the zip of the ROM you want to install on your SD card.
4)Reboot your phone in recovery
5)Do wipes / install as instructed in the ROM you choose
quoting from the aurora ROM for the u8800 Pro...
INSTALLATION
Boot into recovery (5.0.2.7 for U8800 pro )
You should have Clockworkmod version 5.0.2.7 installed, in order to install clockworkmod you should first root your phone
Wwipe data / factory reset
Wipe cache
Advanced and wipe dalvik cache
Boot in recovery (ClockWorkMod) and do the wipes as instructed
Mounts and storage and format system
From ClockworkMod
Install zip from sd card
From ClockworkMod
Choose aurora_2.0_u8800pro.zip
From ClockworkMod

Extra info...
*)Custom roms are rooted so you don't need to do step 1 next time
*)ClockworkMod will not get deleted/altered by a custom ROM unless you want to update it
*)Usually you don't need to do all wipes if you update the same ROM (always read instructions)

I totally agree with you there are instructions for every rom... i haven't installed any rom to u8800pro but for u8800 i can asure that there are guides everywhere step by step, instructions to any rom on how to install them, etc.
If the rooting tutorial that you have found does not work properly as it should on your device you should look for another, and you might find it. not a very good help just an opinion and was trying to make sure you won't give up next time because you can't find a proper guide take care
