Off-Topic WTF Moment, Nokia 808 - Nexus S General

This has nothing to do with our Nexus, but I felt the need to share . The Nokia 808 has a 41 MP camera. Here I thought 8, even 10 was AMAZING for a phone....... In 3 years from now what will be 'normal' standards for a phone camera... Imagine the Nexus of then. Haha.
Nexus S (GSM i9020a)
GummyNex (9.0)
Matrix Kernel (CFS - 18.5)
Lionheart (1000 / 100)
Deep Idle (Off - Sio)

With those types of phones we may have to get attachments to deal with the giant sensors. If that becomes popular I imagine most devices will have two backfacing sensors, one smaller sensor for everyday spur-of-the-moment pictures and the other much larger sensor for more planned photography so that the user doesn't have to deal with carrying around a set lenses everywhere they go.

What will be the size of a photo taken by that camera? Pic of a 5MP camera is ~3 MB so a pic of a 41 MP will be almost 3×8=24 MB?!?!

In about 3 years phones will support a TB if internal storage. Jks . Yeah that's insane.. you can go watch a super HD video taken from the phone on YouTube

Yeah.. then the internal storage wont be 16GB but 1TB hahahaha lol

The trends tend to be different than that.
Let's see, the original iPhone came out with 4gb, 8gb or 16gb
the 3g iPhone came with 8, 16, and 32
the 3gs was available with 8,16, and 32
the 4 is available at 8 and was available in 16 and 32
the 4s is available in 16, 32 and 64 and as it is succeeded it will probably get an 8gb model
While our devices are not iPhones they tend to follow the iPhone storage wise.
I see a plateau at 16 and 32. That span was over 4 years. I imagine that there probably won't be many break-throughs between now and three years from now so the standard sizes will be 32 at the low end with 64 at the high end.

It will jump to 1tb eventually. Not now or anytime soon.

I was kidding about the TB thing . You'll have to be buying one hell of an SD card though. Sadly the phone runs Symbian, not my favorite OS.

Still speculation at the moment.
Sounds great, albeit possibly a little TOO great.

Jesus christ how many times is this going to get posted?
It's not true at all
lol... fake... the first poster even uses the same font and color that previous fake posts had
and to add another nail to the "fake" coffin. IF it ran W7S then it wouldnt have any external storage (as it mentions in the FAKE spec for micro sd cards up to 32gb)
Microsoft were very clear that all W7S phones would only use internal memory with no other memory slots or expansions available (ala iphone stylee)
If it is real, I will get one for sure
fake, not to mention...am I the only one that feels as though the HD2 is big enough as it is? 4.5" screen? good god, it wouldn't fit in my pockets, of that I'm sure.

We post it because it bothers you.
Well, who REALLY knows ?
Specs sound VERY realistic.
And as a matter of fact: HTC is one of the big shots in WinMo-Phones and their devs are always at the leading edge. So they will tell MS: either You agree to an exception (external mSD) or we simply install WM 6.5.x or Android. Anyway MS looses chances to sell SW but who cares about MS?
WP7 or not. This dream machine will come, it´s only natural evolution using the latest available hardware .................
too bad that the fastest snapdragon that was just announced is the 1.2ghz dual core

Very realistic
Come on 1 GB of ram what for insane specs needs windows phone 7. And 1.5 GHZ dual core proccesor yeah ok it is possible.
But this specs are alomst capable to run windows xp. I think something like the htc mondrian is more realistic.

Manufacturer: Samsung
Display: 4 inch, calibrated Super AMOLED+
Processor: 1.2 Ghz Dual-Core
Camera: Doesnt matter, I think the Nexus S's camera is good enough
Round corners, curves. Contour display.
1 GB RAM
16/32 GB ROM
SD CARD SLOT
4G
Build material: Plastic, but a little more grip at the back. Black.
The reason I am going for Samsung again, is because I like their hardware. As you can see the device I want looks like an upgraded Nexus S. I think the design of the Nexus S is fantastic, but a little more grip would do it for the back. Also, Super AMOLED+ got rid of many of the disadvantages Super AMOLED had, like PenTile. Only thing that bothers me is that the colors are a little bit too oversaturated. That is why I like LCD better, for now.
But it would be awesome if there was a way to calibrate the colors, so that you can choose normal (like Motorola Droid), oversaturated (like Galaxy S) or custom. That, with the advantages of LED, and no stupid PenTile, would be an awesome display!
Realistically, the next Nexus would probably be something like this:
Manufacturer: Motorola or HTC
Display: 4-4.3" 960x640 to 1280x720 resolution (either sLCD or sAMOLED)
CPU: OMAP4 or Tegra 2 for Motorola, QSD8672 for HTC (all dual core)
GPU: SGX540 for OMAP4, Adreno 220 for HTC
RAM: 1GB LPDDR-266
Storage: 16/32GB plus microSD
Camera: 8MP with flash
Misc: Dual mic, FFC, 4G, NFC, Wireless b/g/n, 1600mAh battery, ~9mm thick
What would I like to see (while still within the realm of reality)?
Manufacturer: HTC
Display: 4-inch 1280x720 (any sort of OLED, Sony is working on some nice displays)
CPU: Qualcomm MSM8960 (1.5GHz dual core)
GPU: Adreno 300 (200m+ tri/s)
RAM: 1GB LPDDR-400
Storage: 16GB (to keep costs down) plus mircoSD
Camera: 12MP microlense zooming with dual LED flash
Misc: Dual mic, FFC, 4G, NFC, Wireless b/g/n, 1800mAh battery, ~9mm thick
guys, what about a nexus from nokia?
now for me that would be a dream come true. the best combo of hardweare and softweare. it could be a great hit. i would love for something like this ro become a reality.
anybody agree with me on that one, or am i just a lone dreamer?...
on the other topic it was already said to be a joke only when he mentioned
but Nokia is indeed looking to partner up with other OS markers
but there are no solid confirmation if they are going one way or another
they basically opened the doors and are inviting prospective OS partners for their phones
don't be surprised to see a Nokia running Apple's iOS
but chances seems to be Nokia seems to be favoring Microsoft
however Android has the market dominance in the long run, it'll not be smart for Nokia to not choose Android and partner with Google
if they do, we'll most likely see "Nexus N"
I just hope the Nexus 2 will be made by a company with better outer casing

I guess so but there really is nothing bad with the shell of the NS. It only feels cheap because its glossy plastic. I've dropped my phone quite a few times and its never even chipped. I have no scratches on the screen or the back. I'm quite happy with the SNS and my only hope for the next Nexus is just that it be better than anything else on the market

Finally
I waited so long for this been rocking this galxy s3 all year waiting for the nexus 6.. I cant wait to have it in my hands...
Nexus 6 is pretty much heavy at 180g when Nexus 5 is 130g. Motorola Phones are usually heavy. For instance, Moto E is around 150g when it is a 4.3" device. I like the build quality of motorola phones though since the motorola L6.

AMOLED. That's a shame. So will burn eventually if I use it in a car for GPS (static screen elements, high brightness, high temperatures)
Specs directly from MOTO's site.
Qi wireless charging enabled! I wasn't excited about a 6 inch phone, but they've got some if the things I've been looking for, battery life (potentially) & Qi wireless charging. Plus the phone can be purchased directly from MOTO.

Nope, it's 32-bit since it uses Snapdragon 805. I would not worry about it though, it is a beastly SoC
It says the phone is water resistant
what is the difference between buying from play store and moto webiste?
Surprisingly no. The 805 is 32 bit. However, there's no apps that will take advantage of 64 bit in the mobile world. I expect that to change, but not for a while.
This is gonna be the best smartphone of the year

Your Nexus 6 :)

Hi everyone
I wanted to find out what your personal Nexus 6 specifications would've been if you were in charge of deciding on final specifications. Keep in mind the costs of production and selling price to keep things grounded in reality. I've been thinking about this a while as I keep reading negative points on the Nexus 6, positive points on the Nexus 6 as well as information about upcoming and current phones in the market. I wanted to see just exactly what people want from a Nexus device in a nutshell.
I also thought this could be a bit of light hearted fun
My specifications:
Processor: quad core (or higher) 64bit processor
RAM: 4gigs
Screen: 1080P or QHD with very high brightness & vivid colours (e.g. Note 4, iPhone 6+)
Rear Camera: 16mp 1/2 sensor, dual flash
Front Camera: 4-5mp camera (flash optional - not sure if possible)
Screen Size: 5.5-6"
Body Thickness: 6-7mm
Memory: 32gb, 64gb and 140gb options
Microphones: 4
Speakers: Stereo dual front facing
Battery: 3,600mh+
NFC: Yes
Qi Charging: Yes
Waterproof: Yes (same or higher than Galaxy S5; the current Nexus 6 waterproof is expected to be more 'water-resistant')
Finger Print Scanner: Yes
IR Blaster: Yes
I believe my specifications are completely doable by today's technology and they would easily be able to sell this device at the same price or even $50 more while still maintaining a profit. Even if it is not currently doable today, I believe this phone is totally viable by March 2015 when more 64bit quad core chipsets are released.
I don't think I'm asking for much as basically all my specifications exist today and are included in many phones (at least more than half).

Nexus 6 plus sd card slot, removable battery, and ir port. Oh and a weight of less than 150 grams. Otherwise for right now I think the nexus 6 is perfect for what I want. Next year then everything would change.
Hopefully by next year project ara is out and we can build our perfect phone. I'm so looking forward to that day!
The Qualcomm 810 64 bit big.Little kits should be out first half of 2015 from what I've read. I am fine with the N6 as it is today in 64gb format. SD card slot would have been nice but 64gb local storage is plenty for me. If they mess around and delay a VZW release long enough I'll wait to see the 810 64bit handset announcements.... I'm up for edging up Dec 10th. Just have to wait for the actual review of a VZW N6 to go up, see if it's all I expect it to be, and if it's truly bootloader unlock able. If so I'll bite. If not I'll wait.
Exactly like they made it

Sounds like an awesome phone and I know we're just talking dream phones here, but I don't think a 3,600mah battery in a waterproof 6-7mm body with a 5.5" screen is at all doable at this point. The Note 4 and Nexus 6 are larger phones and were only able to manage 3,220mah batteries.
Would be nice though!
For me, the N6 would have to bring a Nvidia GTX Titan. And the state of the art i7 from intel.
Useless thread and unrealistc too. Its also funny because the only thing that you dont know if its possible or not (front facing camera with flash aka HTC Disere Eye) already exists! But a Phone with 4GB ram, body thickness 6-7mm, 3600mAh battery, its very possible at this moment...
Current N6 specs, but in my hand right now.
I'd have added a 64 bit processor and removable battery, everything else the same , the 64 bit processor wont be ready available until next year, and the removable battery is never going to happen in the nexus line so that's that
Body: space titanium
Screen protector: sapphire glass
Processor: last Intel i7
RAM: 16GB
Screen: AMOLED display (~2000ppi/dpi) with absolutely no gaps around the screen
Rear Camera: 1000mp, led and xenon flash
Front Camera: 10mp camera
Screen Size: 6"
Body Thickness: 10mm
Memory: minimum 1 TB
Microphones: 4
Speakers: Stereo dual front facing
Battery: Atomic / nuclear
Qi Charging: Yes
Waterproof: Yes (minimum ip68)
Finger Print Scanner: Yes
IR Blaster: Yes
FM radio: yes
Walkie talkie: yes
Network: GSM, CDMA, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, standard USB 3.0, satellite voice/data connection
I would like this in the Nexus 7 since it is too late to change the Nexus 6.
1. Duo sim cards. I need to have 2 phone numbers. One for business and one for personal.
2. Expandable microSD card.
3. Removable battery
4. Larger battery
5. Snapdragon 810
6. 4 RAM
7. Better camera
Everything else can be the same as the Nexus 6.
I think these are doable for the next version.

I hate when people just put the best of everything in these threads, of course that would be the perfect phone but be freaking realistic(and also original) it will cost 1000+ euro.
Personally for me a nexus 6 with smaller display (and a smaller battery accordingly, you can't have both) at around 5 inch, instead of a 2k display a 1080p well calibrated one and a Samsung isocell sensor, snapdragon 805, 3gb, front facing speakers(so what the nexus 6 already has)
So a mix between a moto x and the nexus 6.

sure in the year 2020 lolz
nexus 6 current specs + plus these addons would have been great: usb3.0 microHDMI, removable battery, microSDslot
prolly the top 4 addons to any NEXUS phones but will NEVER happen
5.5 inch display may be better... But with very small bezels including top and bottom.
3900 Mah battery.
I'm still very eager to see what the unlocked non Verizon version of the droid turbo looks like. That one's even easier to get to perfect (for 2014)...add band 12 LTE and an unlocked boot loader.

I didn't see the thread as useless. I explained above - all I saw were debates; negative, positive and random comments on what people thought the Nexus 6 should have been like so I thought it would be nice to actually see a more clear picture of what people would've liked in this phone, or its replacement.
I'm sorry for not knowing if the front facing camera is possible or not...thanks for your input.

I dont think my specs are a perfect phone at all; if these specs came out now, someone would better them next time and therefore THAT would be the 'perfect phone'. Come this time next year I'm sure the specs I listed would definitely not be called unrealistic since 4gig phones are expected early next year with 64bit processors, QHD big screens (5.5"+), IR, OIS, 1/2.5 camera etc, expandable memory, big batteries etc.
64 bit processor, 4 gig ram and high quality vivd 6" IPS screen. Those are all I'd add to a already great phone.

Impatient for the device of the gods

Of course I'm talking about the Moto x 3rd Gen.I honestly can't wait. I feel like a little kid waiting to open Christmas presents. I seen the leaked render of this device just a little bit ago, It looks great. The picture was pixelated and blurry but you could see the jest of it. The camera, flash and dimple are all lined up in this rounded-rectangle strip on metal on the back. It looks very premium, the front of the phone just simply looks like a streamlined flat AMOLED panel with 2 front facing speakers (at least that's what is seems to be). I guarantee all Moto users are going to be proud of this device. like come 'on 4GB on RAM! and look at that chipset and pixel density. This is going to be a gift from the higher up.

Not that much. I'm waiting for next nexus instead like every year. I hope they lower the size of display.

Same. I am more intrigued with the Nexus because of Google I/O:
1. I am certain a fingerprint scanner will be included
2. USB type C. Now that is something to be happy about
3. OIS and all that camera stuff will be in the next Nexus
4. Wireless charging & fast charging. Both of best worlds
5. Having the latest Android OS version. Android M is going to be awesome, I want it. I will consider buying a Nexus this year if rumors of an LG one is correct (or Huawei), depending on price
6. A lot of the specs will be the same as the first post
not enough of an upgrade to get me to buy day one. maybe after the price drop.

Yes, I'm also interested in what Nexus is going to put out this year. I know that's its going to have an outstanding spec sheet, It always does. That fingerprint scanner would be nice, unfortunely i don't think the new Moto X will have it but you never know. It's more than likely that the new Moto X will be guaranteed updates after it's intial release. Hopefully Motorola improves the camera, OIS would be great and they need to work on getting consietent high quality photos. Image processing needs to be improved also. I tryed the Nexus 6 for about a month and it was perfectly fine in preformance but it's too large. I think the next Nexus smartphone should have a 5.5 inch display at most. Wireless charging & fast charging im sure will be in the new Moto X. LG or Huawei huh? Both are great cmpanies. LG with its G4 and Huawei with its P8. My vote is on Huawei. I also seen the new Moto G rumored specs. 2GB of RAM, larger battery, higher MP count, 16GB base model, same 5 inch screen but in 1080p this time around, Better chipset and more. It amazes me how fast technology is evolving, if the new Moto G would of came out last year it could sure contend with some flagship smartphones.
The only thing that stands out for me is the 1080p video capture at 120fps (slow mo). Not really enough for me to want the new Moto X. I'll most likely wait for the price to be dropped before biting the bullet.
In regards to the new Nexus, I'll never buy a Nexus phone again after owning the Nexus 4 and 5 - awfully bad call quality issues and a lack of acknowledgement from Google (poor support). Nexus 6 was just stupid with it's almost 6" display lol. Probably get laughed at trying to hold that thing against my ear!! Anyway I don't think I can do without Moto Voice, it's too good!

Yeah, me too. The only reason I jumped to Moto X 2014 is because of Nexus 6 size. Previously I've always used the Nexus line.

Yeah, the 1080p 120fps slow mo will be great im sure of it. The specs that didn't exaclty stand out but were a little unexpected were the battery life & the RAM. I wasn't expeting such a leep in battery capacity to go from 2300 to 3280 mAh is awesome, that almost a 1000 mAh gain. I was expecting something in the ballpark between 2600-2900 mAh which is still good depending on the display and hardware. I was expecting 3GB of RAM for some reason. Maybe it's becuase the Moto X has always seemed to be 1GB of RAM lower than other flagships that came out during the same time. I guess Motorola is stepping up. As far as the expected changes and improvements i knew that Motorola would improve: the camera, chipset and display resolution. It's kinda unfortunate that the new Moto X will most likely not have expandable storage but at least the got rid of the 16GB variant. I am also gonna wait for a price drop, maybe around christmas or so and yes Moto Voice is beyond helpful, i love it. I think that's the dominant reason why i would choose the Moto X 2014 over the Nexus 6, well that and size of course.
I really hope that the MotoX 3rd Gen will have two models, one as large as the Nexus 6 or MotoX Pro (China). I really loved the MotoX and Nexus 6 and own both, but the Nexus 6 without Moto Display is disappointing. I've considered buying one from China, but I don't know if Google services can be installed afterwards. Anyhow, Motorola is about to grace us with a new device so its smarter to wait it out.
If any if these rumors are true, I'll be a happy camper.

Oh I forgot about the bigger battery. That'll be my other reason to want to switch but not straight away, probably when the price drops.
I don't really care about 4GB RAM at all. I think 2GB is more than enough for what most people would do on a smartphone. I've never ever felt like the RAM capacity is slowing me down or anything.
