Kernels - Acer Iconia A500

can someone list which kernels work with the 0.014 ICS update for the a500? im sick of the stock kernel that came with cm9, i believe and want to flash another one.
my tabs unlocked, cm9 installed, but is laggy so i think OC'ing it may help a tad.
ty in advanced as im new to the world of flashing kernels

Currently, there are no known OC/UV kernels for the 500/501 running ICS. With the exception of TegraOwners, however it only works with the Tegraowner rom as best I know.

damn, i was hoping there was a kernel out there.. is it possible to take a kernel from another tegra2 device & flash it to the a500?
thank you btw for all your answers to my possible ridiculous questions!

Look in my thread , they are not OC kernels , the tweaked ones but they improve smoothness big time.
One thing they are build for 1.031.00 based rom , they will work on older versions but it is possible that camera fails.

Why no custom froyo roms ?

I was just wondering why there are no custom froyo roms, even know GB is coming out some time this month or next, but all gb roms that are out are betas.
I would like to see something stable from you awesome devs !
I have been using the Gingerbread ROM by KennethPenn and recently switched to Ninja.. Both have been extremely stable (Kenneth's one is a basically stock build with added speed hacks that he can't test, hence the beta) with minor bugs. I say keep developing for Gingerbread

+1 agreed.
What I've got running now is far smoother than anything Froyo.
ORFR234, deodexed, zipaligned, SD card hack, multi-touch enhancements, OC kernel with voltage profiles, etc, etc.
Haven't played with any ROMs because I honestly don't like themes. It's easy as heck to do as well. Just read all the guides and you can't go wrong
The reason that there aren't any Froyo roms being developed is that the Bootloader isn't unlockable with Froyo on it. You'd need to upgrade to Gingerbread to unlock the bootloader, so there's no real sense in trying to make a new rom for an outdated version of the operating system.
and If you go back to froyo with unlocked bootloader,You have a hard brick.
I am using cherryblur 1.3 with stock theme,so far I find it far better than froyo stock.
Its heating problem is solved and battery is pretty good for me.
only thing I am looking for is processor undervolting and profiles which will work with overclocked kernel .

Huh? Im unlocked with froyo. And I think froyo isn't going to be developed.for. because that would be like developing for windows 98 at this point.

Not true. Going back to froyo using sbf files *may* hard brick your phone. You can flash to froyo with fruit cake files with very little risk.

hey quick question on roms and which ones have been proven and are current..sorry

hey guys, and sorry for a question i know must have been asked before, but i am unable to find.
What roms are the best and most up to date as of now?
i was going to go with cm7 but saw we had cm9 and a few others out there, my real question is, anything better then cm7 out there?
this will be used for my wife, who just wants it to work, as little freezes and hang ups as possible, feature set means nothing next to speed and reliability.
this is my last attempt to make this phone usable for her before i take my 12 gauge to it. please please help! i have to her hear whine everyday with the 2.6.1(think that's it) kernel on there (hasn't been updated in over a year, so anything should be an improvement, it's just hard to get the phone off her long enough to toy with it)
In that case I would use either Superclean 3 or Geewiz
Both are stock EH03 based Touchwiz ROMS. Neither has bleeding edge features but they both just work and are the most up to date ROMs that come from the Samsung/Verizon base. Personally, I have found these ROMS to be the best on battery longevity.

cool, i already d/l'd the geewhiz but it's not taking like the other rom's i'm used to, flashed stock rom E3 and booted in to recovery and tried to update with gwiz through recovery, signature error of some sort, will try again with the other one you mentioned ..... or do i need to load the kernel using odin then flash rom through recovery?
I would also recomend giving Team Hacksung ICS build 6.5 w/ Icy Glitch v14 b4 kernel a try! No doubt superclean and geewiz are great roms, but I think you will like ICS 4.0.3 the best...just sayin.

i thought i saw that as a beta build, been around long enough to be proven?
[KERNEL][CM9][1/29/12] Icy Glitch V14 - BETA - LiveOC - Voodoo - DIDLE - USBhost
gotta bail from work will be back on with the tablet in about an hour.
ICS still has some issues and while it's good enough for 99% of people if this is for pure stability for a nontechnical user I'd say to go for the ROMs I mentioned earlier. Some issues on ICS are MMS doesn't work with wifi on, the datadata issue, the ui is a bit different from Touchwiz ROMs, phantom ring still occurs, CWM and nandroids still have some issues, and it's on a pretty rapid release cycle which would mean that you would need to update her phone fairly often.
ICS is great and it's what I'm running but I think the more mature EH03 ROMS are appropriate in this case.
EDIT:
The link you have goes to Glitch which is a kernel. That is part of the operating system but isn't the entire ICS OS. ICS ROM development is centered over at the rootzwiki developer forum. AOKP, Gummy, and teamhacksung's build are the premier builds.

Yeah, i figured if the kernel was in beta the rom would be as well, got her on super clean and she likes it , still can't tell the difference between that and a 2.6.1 build that was beta around a year ago, lol, thanks for the help and ics is sick , but bob nailed it in regards to my intentions.
That said , thanks to the both of you for bothering with this b.s. question in the first place , i was at work trying to sort her phone out , she needs her phone , life is chaos and time is short, thanks for making it all a little more easy. Also great to see such great support still going on for this, envious with my charge in regards to roms.
Hope i don't need to post here again for a while if you get what I'm saying, haha !! Thanks a ton !

Xperia Problems after ICS

Hey Guys ever Since Custom Sony Beta and The Official ROM I experince these Issues:
Phone Is on But never Responds to Hardware Keys to wake Up.
I have to Re-flash ROMs Sometimes able to get in both Fastboot and Recovery.
Using Doom's Kernel Mostly or Other Custom ones.
What's Wrong?
Using CM7 Stock is the Only ROM that works for me.
Front Facing Camera is Dead.
any help
As far as I know (I could be wrong) but I dont think Doom has done much in the ways of ICS, so I don't think his Kernel is made with ICS in mind if that makes sense. maybe thats whats causing some of your issues, Cmod7 is a GB rom right? which is the only one that works? with dooms kernel? Like I said I could be wrong and if I am I'm sure someone wont hesitate to let me know it lol I'd recomend reverting to GB if you can, try the stock GB rom and see if that works with Doom's kernel.

DooM released a ICS kernel too.
Beta means not ready, Release Candidate means Not ready but almost, Stable means ready , If you want a stable ROM, Go to Stock.
Try the Darkforest ROM with DooMLoRD's advanced stock kernel.

Best ICS Rom at the moment. Use the ICS kernel in the post instead of Doomkernel.
Also don't flash any CDMA stuff if on a GSM device

ROM and Kernel

Hey guys have just installed taboonay's Rom on my Acer and so far it is not too bad. I am using AOKP on my Galaxy Nexus which is awesome, is there anything similar for the Acer. Also does anyone use Franco's Kernel at all? If not, what is a good one?

With ICS, there is only 1 OC/UV kernel, and that is by EZTerry. With kernels, each is specific to the device&OS, so you really can't swap kernels around. You can find EZTerry's ICS kernel easily in the Dev forum.
AOKP? At one time there were a couple folks tried doing a Kang but they were using a non-GPL kernel, so they were not allowed to post here.

Overclock NexusHD2 JellyBean CM10.1

hi guys, i'm currently using NexusHD2 JellyBean rom. it can be overclocked up to 1.2ghz, but i saw on internet that with CM7 hd2 can be overclocked up to 1.5... i would overclock NexusHD2 JellyBean CM10.1 to 1.5ghz.. but i don't know how to... sorry for bad english
You need a kernel that supports overclocking to such frequency. I didn't overclock my HD2, and most times I used the kernel that came with the ROM and didn't bother to change.
Use the sticky in the NAND development section to look through kernels, and flash the one that has overclocking and works on your ROM.
Edit:
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322639 I think this should work for you, follow the instructions and, as always, make a back up. (Though if something ever happens, you'd just have to flash the stock kernel back but I'm telling you to back up to disclaim myself anything should happen to your device.)

Apparently not, lol. I don't think it's possible then. That's the only kernel I knew which supported 1.5 GHz. Try and search for yourself, you may find.

should I keep jelly beans on 1.2ghz, or should I install ICS on 1.6ghz?
I can't really tell you, because it depends solely on you.
Why not try both? You've tried JB on 1.2, backup and flash ICS with 1.6 and use it for a few days. See which one works best and use it. Good luck.

well, in jellybean or ics, i think overclocking more than 1.2 ghz is very risky. rom developers remove this option aswell as kernel developers, because in those builds it may brick your phone

May I know why/how?
@Marvlesz well, i'm not sure about what i said
but after gb, i've never seen an ics+ (or jb) build that has overclocking more than 1.2 ghz. gb used to have 1.6ghz AFAIR, but newer build are all 1.2 ghz and maximum. maybe it's related to HWA or such stuff
Edit: i just saw you posted about trying ICS with 1.6 , so nevermind about what i said
