Hi,
Does anyone know where to find or can upload Thinkpad ROW 16gb NANDROID backup? I have deleted my system by mistake during installation of CM9 . But CM9 doesn't work and I have no backup.
Thank you
No one? I am really desperate. I even went to service. They wanted 50$ for re-installation and after half hour they told me, that it is impossible because they cant find the rom on Lenovo's website .
Did you see this thread?

I have CWR installed, I just need whole rom.

Sorry that link is for US version, but I need ROW. Thanks anyway.
Please could someone upload ROW CWM backup.
During summer I would like to port one of my games from Maemo to Android but I can not do it without Android
Hi, I've got a ROW 16gb nandroid backup here, but its 780mb so need to figure out a reasonable way to upload it somewhere first.
Thank you very much for your help. You can upload it here http://www.hellshare.com/ .
That site is geo-ip blocked to me here, but I should be able to get it uplaoded somewhere else within a few days or so, I'll post back here once its done.
I'll make an upload slot for you at my server tomorrow.
How about this one http://www.edisk.cz/en# ?
that guy from lenovo forums stands he seems have successfully booted ics on ROW by using WE backup:

Anybody tried something like that? Or I took it a wrong way?
mks$> , do you need some other place for the rom?
Could someone please upload the row backup? Otherwise I can only dump this **** tablet.
If you need the backup too, please write into this thread. Maybe it will convince someone to help us.
I also need it...
I have ROW ICS 32Gb succesfully running. Can dump any partition for you using nvflash. I think they can be easily modified to meet your tablet.
Contact me via skype (alexey.sopov) if you need my dumps.

THE ONLY THING THAT HAS CHANGED ON THIS SYSTEM.IMG IS THE BOOT ANIMATION (INSTEAD OF "ANDROID" IT HAS THE HONEYCOMB BEE) AND THE FONT HAS CHANGED ALSO...
AGAIN, THIS IS JUST A TEST, IT IS THE FULL FILE SYSTEM TO BE USED ON A DAILY BASIS BUT DOES NOT HAVE ANY OPTIMIZED FILES AT THIS TIME.
Alright, now that you have read the warning... download this file here:

You can then push the file through ADB by typing:

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR FILES FIRST!!! THIS FILE IS BASED ON USA MODEL 1.104.05_GEN1 ACER A500. I RECOMMEND TO TRY ONLY IF YOU HAVE HAD TO UNBRICK YOUR TABLET BEFORE. I DONT WANT TO MESS UP YOUR TABLET!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! JEJEJE
Please post if it has worked for you or if it glitched, I am currently in trial and error so... my tablet gets bricked 1-3 times a day because I am testing different things on the system images... hopefully, I can find a way to have root on the image or at least include:
1. File manager
2. ROOT or at least the Gingerbreak.apk already installed.
3. Terminal emulator
4. Custom background upon boot
As stated, it works for me but I have only 1 tablet so if you are daring enough, please dont hessitate to help me in getting this up and running...

cant figure out how to multiquote as clicking the buttons dont do anything.
but just look at "Crsdr37"'s post in general with the imgs and update zip to get back to stock and updates!!!
and to the person who made the IMG keep up the good work. im not gonna flash it and im happy with being stock and getting updates now ;D
Have you figured out how to apply the incremental updates to the img?
I suspect it's just replacing files, I'll look at it when I get to a PC.
Ive been away from my tablet today. I put the post up and went out tonight... jejeje
Thank you guys that tested my image... if it worked for you, THANKS!!! if ou didnt, then let me know what did not work...
THIS IS NOT NOT NOT AN UPDATED IMAGE, IF YOU CHECK THE DESCRIPTION, THIS IS A TEST IMAGE TO GET A CUSTOM ROM OVER TO THE ACER A500... I AM TESTING SO I WILL NOT ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT UPDATES... THAT IS FOR MY OTHER POST... SORRY PEOPLE.
Never did. Am back now on the EMEA version and going to wait until someone cracks the code. I have reflashed so much I can do it with my eyes closed.
i am going to try it as well nice thing you guys do
Great
Cheers man, !
So, pulling your system image from /DEV/BLOCK/MMCBLK0P3, then modifying it, then pushing it back works?
Let me try and understand here:
I thought the whole locked bootloader thing checked signatures on the images that are about to be loaded into memory, such as the image in /system.
According to this:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/hkbf3/so_you_want_to_know_about_bootloaders_heres_the/
It says:
What does a bootloader do with digital signatures?
It uses them to check any update that passes through it.
So: dd any partition we want to modify, back it up in a safe place, mount the img we get from that, make changes within the img, and dd it back, = all good?
ie: signed bootloaders only have to do with installing update.zips on the sdcard?
Can someone clear this up for me?
Thanks!
Unfortunately, I don't know how to answer that... I have to make my changes through the tab and then pull the system.img. Everytime I make edits externally, my tablet crashes... That's why I'm in testing right now.
sorry guys, I'm not a developer so there are going to be some things I can't answer but if someone is willing to explain it, please do as it is a learning experience for us all... jejeje

Dude, chill man... You are right, your question does ask about headway for the updates but here are the facts:
You are asking about updates on a BETA Rom that is just in testing...
I took your question to be if the ROM file had the updates (My fault for sure). I was not yelling per say nor trying to be rude but rather making sure that people are aware this is in no way an updated image and should not be treated as such... THIS IS A TEST ROM and since your question was posted within its thread, I took it as if it was directed to the image itself and not toward me and my development...
Look, as stated, im not a developer man, this stuff is a little hard for me to do. I do apologize because I did not answer your question correctly/completely but as far as the comment... Its what I meant. jejeje

Have restored to complete US stock. Had a lot of problems related to SD cards, had to swap them out to avoid errors on the actual update.zip file, but am back to normal. Now if I can just keep my hands off until the 3.1 update comes out, or there is custom ROM...

been installing custom fonts and trying to change some of the system settings from other customized roms directly from the tablet.
Instead of reflashing wouldn't it be easier to just provide the files to push into the tablet? just my 0.02
Yeah, I can provide files for you guys to install but what I was going for was an image that contained everything already setup so you can just flash it over ur old one allowing the "customization" to appear upon install/pushin the file... jejeje

And, of course you made a backup via clockworkmod???? eh?
Why are so many not making backups of their tabs before installing unknown software?
There's lots of threads about this in the forums with instructions already. And this belongs in the General forum, not development.
Yes I'd also be interested in this. I have the droid x so when ever I want to revert to factory settings theirs a program on the computer (rsd lite) I use to revert it. So I almost never backup my roms. Now on my iconia they don't have such program. At least that I know of. So I flashed a rom on my iconia and didn't make a backup of my current one. I tried fixing it by flashing stock_acer a500.zip I thing by dexter don't quote me on that one. But it was the emea version so now its stock european and I live in america. Help is apreciated.
I'm a flashing person that has flashed many times on my phones. I forgot to make a nandroid backup of my original rom myself...so I'm not judging. I would say, flash honeyvillian, as its the closest thing to stock I've seen.
But, if your already flashing, I wouldn't want to grab the official anything...someone will post it once it comes out.

because we are impatient and stupid
I am running to get someone with a tablet of my country to get back the STOCK ROM in case of... I am going to see if I can deal with the shop to root and recovery on SD Card the stock rom so I will be able to have the stock rom...
For USA version 1.104.02, Check out this post.. You'll probably want to skip flashing the stock recovery until you know the system will boot normally.. So from this post, run itsmagic, flash boot, flexrom and system, in that order. Preferable from an adb connection. The tablet will freeze while flashing system. Give at least 5 mintues to make sure it's complete.
You may need to do a data wipe if it bootloops (that's why you should skip flashing recovery). Once it's booting normally, you can flash the stock recovery if you want.
Alternatively, you should be able to replace the files in dexter's stock update zip with these files. But I haven't looked at that zip, so I don't know if system is an image file or a archive file.
Thanks for the replies quick question though. How do in run its magic is their a command for ADB or do I acess it via clockwork recovery?

I too would like to restore to the 3.0.1 stock rom, however my backup of the stock rom got corrupted somehow. I know it had to be something I done, but know not what it was I did. Any help would be much appreciated. Or would it be a better idea to flash the 3.1 leak?
Alright, now I realize this is the Thinkpad section but there doesn't seem to be an Ideapad one. I've been out of the Android game for a very long time, and finally came back with a Lenovo K1 Ideapad.
My big issue is I don't know how to create a system.img, boot.img or recovery.img from the Canadian OTA zip on the Lenovo site so I can flash them onto my tablet. I managed to use the root tool available in the development section to root my tablet with a US firmware. However after experiencing a lot of freezing and my tablet not responding, I felt as if I should revert back to the Canadian firmware. My problem is I forgot to create backups for the previously mentioned images so I can't flash them back and restore my tablet.
If someone could please explain or even direct me to where I can learn the steps in creating them (I just installed linux because so far it seems like that would be the first step), it would be a great help. I took the img files from a different root tool and tried those, they changed the system to a chinese firmware but I at least know it works if I could get the Canadian ones. I can go back to the US one if I really wanted but what I want is to just put this thing back into its original state that it came in.
Even if someone could just post those files, it would be greatly appreciated. I've been scouring the internet for days to try and gain some enlightenment, but it isn't happening. Probably since development on this thing isn't as hyped as others.
Thank you.

On the K1 you cannot. Lenovo has it locked down so there's no way to back it up without root. The only way to root it is to flash it which wipes it clean. Thee ole catch 22.
Now, if you read through the leaked keys and rooting tips, they talk about fastbooting to ASUS boot.bin and then backing up before you start rooting. It definitely works to backup, but I haven't found anyone that has successfully used them to restore from and I could not get them to restore. So, in my opinion, that backup method is worthless because you cannot use them.

In Linux, you just mount system.img and then read and write to it. If you are using Windows then you can download drivers that let you mount the the system.img as a disk drive.
I use Windows for everything, no need to use Linux. For cooking, Google Cygwin which runs on Windows and is kitchen for 'cooking ROMS'.

Alright thanks timmyDean for the answers. I noticed you uploaded a tool to revert back to stock. So I was thinking of giving it a shot. I'm just hoping it won't be too much of an issue if I install the US rom. I'm thinking it won't let me use OTA updates since I'm in Canada, but I can probably just do the manual method for installing the updates. The box for my K1 says US, and we usually get the same pieces of hardware as the states with just a modified OS.
Hoping this works, fingers crossed

I loaded a tool to goto CA stock too and already tested it for you.
Thank you so much man, I just used your tool. Flashed the stock US, then put my CA one and it worked like a charm. You've honestly made me so happy.
Too bad the K1 in Canada is still at 3.1 and doesn't look like it'll get 3.2 (fingers crossed we for sure get ICS).
Anyway I am very thankful. I've looked over the tools but I don't see a lock thread option, hopefully a mod will do so promptly.

TF - have you considered using CWM to restore the OTA3 ICS US Nandroid I posted on everyrandom.com?
It will get you to ICS and after that, a factory reset will get you back to stock Recovery and (maybe) unroot at the same time.
http://www.everyrandom.com/files/files.php?start=2 --> it is file number 24 (good luck with the wonky download system)
Will this work from 0086_US 64GB?
It should be fine. It is from a 32gb US tablet.
Thanks!!!

Here TF - I've been meaning to put it in my Dropbox public folder. That everyrandom file site is borked.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10649086/TPT_OTA3_US_ICS_rooted.zip
ROM history: I factory reset my rooted US 32GB OTA2.5 tablet, upgraded to OTA3 from within CWM, then created the ROM before rebooting.
The only thing that comes to mind is that I believe there is a firmware upgrade in the OTA3 process. Your tablet may need a second go around of installing OTA3 to get your firmware updated but as we've seen with CM9 and CM10, upgraded firmware is not necessary for ICS and JB.
Let me know how it goes!

***DISCLAIMER***
If done incorrectly, this can soft brick your device. I take no responsibility for this, and if you're unfamiliar with rooting android I suggest reading up before attempting. There are threads to fix your tablet if this goes sideways, but if this doesn't work I personally can't promise I can help you.
I used this method two days ago, and would like to thank jerbear294 for providing me with the information. I didn't come up with this, I just want to help others looking for root.
Hello guys
First, apologies if this is a redundant thread. All the root methods I've seen in individual topics seem outdated, and I just wanted to make this quick guide to help people from having to scan through pages of information to learn how to root these things. This method works on firmware WW_V12.10.1.33_20150917, which is the current release as of this post.
Lets get to it!
Download
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/intel-android-devices-root-temp-cwm-t2975096
(Navigate to page 1, for some reason it links to the last page)
Place it on your computer and unzip.
And the latest supersu .zip 2.46
https://download.chainfire.eu/696/supersu/
Which will be on your tablet.
Install the temp recovery to your computer, connect the tablet, make sure you enable adb (USB Debugging) on it in developer mode (Settings → about → software version → tap build number 7 times for developer mode). Once connected, run the exe in the .zip from the temp recovery.
Choose: TWRP HDPI portrait, T4.
Your device will boot into twrp recovery. Now navigate to the supersu.zip on your tablet, and install, and you should be good to go . Good luck, and happy rooting!
Thanks to everyone who developed these tools (especially Social_Design_Concepts), and XDA for providing a medium to relate them.
To run Xposed, go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
Choose 'xposed-v80-sdk21-x86', this is currently the only version I've had success with. Happy hunting folks!

I updated my me176cx directly from v17 to v33. No matter what I do, the rooting method you outline here doesn't work for me anymore. On v17 it worked first time, now it's a fail every time. No superuser app, no su binary. Any suggestions? I've reinstalled the v33 firmware (it was actually a nandroid backup posted by jerbear on androidfilehost).
Anyway, when I installed temp TWRP this time it asked me did I want to keep system read only - I answered no. Was that a mistake? Also, I went straight from v17 to v33, bypassing the v24 update completely. Was that the wrong thing to do?
Your help would be hugely appreciated, a life with an unrooted device is not one I care to contemplate.

I hear you. I'll be honest - I didn't so much Pioneer this method so much as succeed with it and then repost it to save people some time going through the threads on here :/
That said, I would ask jerbear if he has had this problem reported via his nandroid backup. Answering "no" in twrp was fine, if you said yes it would have been gimped and probably useless, so I doubt that's the problem. I would say it's the nandroid, but I've read people using it and nobody I remember mentioned a problem. In the meantime, try re downloading the backup and flashing it again, and then trying temp twrp and see if it works. I personally haven't tried jerbear's nandroid, so I can't speak on it's behalf
Sorry I don't have something more concrete, let me know what jerbear says and how things play out, and good luck

Hey, thanks for the reply. Just to clarify, is this the file you downloaded and restored? https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347832070
Here's what I had to do: I had to create a folder (this folder I named with my device's serial no) as well as creating a folder inside that folder that I named after a nandroid backup that I'd done earlier. Then I placed all the files from the nandroid zip inside that (second) folder. Only then did the TWRP 'see' the backup. I did the usual system/cache/dalvik cache wipe and restored the nandroid without any hitch. You did that or something similar to get TWRP to restore the nandroid, right?
I wonder should I have taken the recovery log from my own nandroid and replaced jerbear's recovery log with it? I'm starting to confuse myself at this point I think..

You did that or something similar to get TWRP to restore the nandroid, right?

No sorry you misread: I never had to use that nandroid (or any on this tablet yet, all my updates .33 were in order and via ota) - I'm aware of it though and I've only heard good things so I'm not sure where the process might have broken down, outside maybe a corrupted download. That's why I recommended asking jerbear if he's heard of that problem from anyone, because it's a stock backup and I know tons of people have used it and supposedly rooted successfully using temp twrp. From what I can tell, you shouldn't have any problems...it sounds like you know what you're doing and did everything properly.
Can you revert to a previous version, and manually download .33 from https://www.asus.com/support/Download/28/6/0/23/3HzHuNmdcAgeMhJ1/32/ ? I assume there are no backups readily available, but the major xda thread on the 176 might have a couple older ones you can try.
I haven't done as much as a lot of pioneers with my tab, just update, root and install xposed. As such I can't really answer myself what the problem you're having is, just offer general advice I would try. Jerbear hopefully knows about what might be causing the root to fail

Hope I haven't misunderstood you here, but I'd tried installing the v33 from that thread when I was running v17 and didn't get anywhere with it - jerbear told me that restoring a v33 android backup was the only way to go. So even if I can revert back to v17 I'm kind of back to square one, really. I wonder if skipping the v24 update (which I couldn't flash anyway) is the reason behind my current woes though..
P.S. You got Xposed framework running on v33? I'm impressed, I couldn't even get it installed on v17, how did you do it?
Just chiming in to say this method worked for me and thanks a lot!
I was on firmware WW_V12.10.1.33_20150917, followed the instructions, and used root checker to confirm. Yep, rooted!
I did tap the keep read only button, more so on accident. Not sure what that does/did but I did find the restore defaults button. I don't know if that "fixed" anything or what but I didn't want to accidentally break something. Anyway, after that, I flashed SuperSU and was rooted.
Thanks again! :good:

Yes the general for the memo 176 has a special working xposed, make sure you use that one. I'm a bit busy, but I'll link when I can glad you got it rooted

Hey sorry for the late response, work got crazy on me. I edited the original post to now include how to set up Xposed, for you or anyone else interested. Confirmed working on both .33 and .36
Hey guys!
Sorry for the off-topic but how is the new .36 firmware compared to .33? For me .33 sucked, all memory leaks , crashing apps, slow as hell, fortunately I got motherboard replacement and now I'm on KK again. Should I update to .36? What do you think?

It's got less battery drain here, performance seems better too but that could just be a placebo

Thank you. Does upgrading to LP unlock 64 bit capability of the processor (Z3745)? I'd really appreciate it if you could answer me.

I'm not sure, we should be because of art runtime but I feel like our version is bootlegged to a degree
unable to mount /data, internal storage 0MB. How can I load the zip file?
It's probably because FDE. I used a external SD card instead
