Can't really do anything, its a ICS problem. If you want to fix it, downgrade back to GB.
i haven't really noticed a slow down of transfer speeds, how slow is yours going?
maybe its the port on your computer thats slow?

I got it correct now. I copied files via recovery by mounting my data storage and the speed was back to normal again.

In the pc or the laptop I've the same low speed.
Isn't yet any fix without the downgrade or make the transfer via recovery?

Hello all,
Been trying to root my epic for a few days, and can't seem to figure it out. EPIC has the 2.2.1 firmware version. Here are the steps I'm taking.
1. From computer (WIN XP)
2. Installed Samsung mobile usb drivers v1.3.800.0
3. Installed one.click.root.exploitv2.5.5 from firon.net/xda/one.click.root.exploitv2.5.5.zip
4. Phone
5. Changed usb debugging to enable
6. Connected phone to computer via usb cable, keeping phone active my moving around to various menu screens.
7. From computer
8. Double clicked run.bat file
9. It ran busybox by skeeterslint
10. Daemon started successfully
11. Phone is not connected
I’ve tried rebooting computer. Rebooting phone after step 5. uninstalled and re-installed USB drivers in step 2. I know the usb cable is good because I used it to copy all data on the sd card to computer before I started all of this.
Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.
Use a different USB cable. If it's the stock cable... I don't care what it does work for. Just don't use it.
Also, switch USB ports.

Yes, I hate the stock cable. I tried to get a screeny earlier today using the sdk tools, and I barely got the shot before it disconnected. So I grabbed my dads work motorola cord, worked fine all day.

Reboot the phone and try it fresh from boot. Just had this problem rerooting my gf's phone which mysteriously lost root.

Also don't use CWM2.5.5, use the new Clockworkmod 3.0. It will speed up your phone quite a bit with the new EXT4 filesystem and allow you to flash custom ROMs without issue if you so choose.

I'd say it's significantly more than an opinion, EXT4 is the filesystem of choice for the Developers and the ONLY option with a several Roms.

Which I understand and agree completely. But the issue here is solving his phone usb disconnection problem. Cwm 3.0 is prbly not the answer to that.

While true, I am recommending that he try to root with 3.0 instead, so that he doesn't have to do it later and possibly have to solve these issues all over again.

Also if you have one of the newfangled firewall programs like Comodo, you'll need to tell it the rooting executable files are safe before running. If you don't it will force you to confirm their safety to run many times over as you launch, and will stop root from happening because the timing has to be precise for it to run correctly (this was an early issue I had).
Almost everything is perfect on stock ICS, except the very low speed of SD card, it is about 1MB/s, while the original is 3~4MB/s. what a big difference!
i suffers when transfering big files like movie, game, etc.
It is unbelievable google release the ICS OTA on nexus s with the big bug.
Hope google update it soon, btw, Cound anyboady tell me how to send feedback to google team about the nexus experience? i found no option in my phone.
Try the SD speed increase app and see if that helps.

If this project was so important to you why didn't you back it up off of the phone somewhere? Dropbox or the free 50GB Box account most got with the Nexus 4 come to mind. I'm not sure if a full nandroid backup includes the contents of the sdcard on the nexus 4 but that might be a place to start looking, that is if you ever bothered to do a full backup of your phone.
You can get your files back, the same thing happened to me, my pocket somehow formatted my sdcard. Look for software that recovers deleted files

XDA also encourages users to search for answers before asking for help. This place is for learning new things and expanding current knowledge. People won't really learn if they're spoon fed what they want to know.

Boy do you have it wrong. XDA is not a place to come and get help. IT is not a support site. This is a developers site. You are EXPECTED to put in the time and effort to fix your own issues first. Then spend some time searching. (and do search outside your own devices forum) Then you try some things you have seen. If that doesnt work then you can post a thread but dont expect a solution.

I'd love to here about the hundreds of software that recovers deleted files from MTP devices (MTP is not direct hardware access like plugging a flash drive into your computer)

I haven't tested such software, and I could be wrong, but when you connect (most) newer Android devices to a computer, you get access to the files via MTP. You don't have direct access to the filesystem (which I think is ext4), and because of this, you can't do the "advanced" stuff needed for file recovery (I guess checking sectors, free space, and etc.)
Older (and some newer) Android devices when hooked to a computer let you do USB Mass Storage (essentially the same kind of access you have when you plug a flash drive in), which is giving you direct access to the file system (FAT32), and in-theory, should work fine with file recovery software.
so can we mount the nexus 4 as fat32 or ext4? because on mine it just shows up in device section with no name

Does anyone know how to modify the TMobile USA APN settings. I recently came from the HTC One S section where we had a mod to allow WiFi and USB tether without the plan. Anything similar to that for this device?

Did you try searching? there are methods that can be use but if you are using the N4 and a custom rom thats all you need. Remember this phone does not have any carrier branding.
It may even work stock but unfortunately my phone was not stock long enough to test that out... LOL
Edit: My friend connects to his wifi and using USB tether without a problem on his Note 2 and its not rooted so there is obviously a way

rooting it and custom rom will do nothing for you and getting caugth tethering, thats an untruth that gets spread around. tmobile sees your device on their network regardless, or you wouldnt be able to use tmobiles network. its just a matter of tmobile actively stopping you or ignoring you to a point. you can always try changing your browsers user agent, that helps sometimes, but they eventually catch on. to get to the apn settings, you dont need root. its in the main phone settings, more, mobile network, access point names..

Ok to clarify are we speaking about you turning on your wifi then connecting your phone to a pc and streaming over the internet that way? I know it sound crazy but my friends Internet card and wireless card in his pc do not work and this is how he connects his pc to internet.

I am running SlimBean with AK kernel AK41. May I add that wifi notifications and all necessary phone options work flawlessly for me. Also battery life is quite good, I did update to SuperSu and it was draining my battery so I switched back to 1.41 :good:
