All I can tell is recording to videos I saw in youtube is that the new motoluxe is extremely laggy, don't know how is acting when overclocked, but the defy (+) has pretty big section here, but on the other hand it has a locked bootloader. I don't know much about neo, I have experience with SE mini which it has I think similar hardware with neo and it's pretty good. But I love my Defy more.
Neo V has just 320mb memory(internal) Defy+ has 1200mb free. and screen isn't quite bright...
Advantages of Neo V: HDMI, official ICS update and Scorpion with 205 is a bit faster than Defy+ ARM A8 with SGX 530 (100-120 points difference in Quadrant benchmarks...Defy+ 1750-1800 in stock. Neo V 1900s)
Defy+: more compact, weatherproof, more internal storage, better ROMS and great unofficial support.
If you aren't interested in rooting and stuff...get Neo V. Defy+ won't get ICS anytime soon...I am happy with a Defy+.chose it over the Neo V...I find the Neo V too big for a 3.7 incher plus the screen isn't bright.

about locked bootloaders...in a way they're good.as in...you don't have much of a chance of bricking your phone...like...the chances are almost 0. I never faced any issues flashing stuff on my Defy+

I'm an ardent fan of customisation n xda. I own a x10 mini and thinking to buy a tablet. I have my sights on p1000 and tab plus. Wat do u guys suggest??
I wanna play hd games without lag n avoid any compatibility issues which may occur later. I watch a lot of videos and customise. Is the p1000 gd in all of them or the plus?? Does the processor difference in both of them make a lot difference btw their running speeds??

Unless you're not interested in a Wifi only device, why not wait for the Nexus 7? The galaxy tab is a single core with 512MB of RAM, the plus has double that (dual core, 1GB RAM) and the Nexus 7 will have a quad core with 1GB of RAM.

Of course after customization, GT-Plus would performs better than P1000, because of hardware updates. I figure GT-Plus would also have more supports for more people might use it.
But it's all depends on the price and how 'custom' you want to make it to.
If you can get a good deal on P1000, it would be a good device to own too. Because it's been there the longest, and you can browse through XDA for hundreds of things you can do with it.
Tats exactly my idea.. p1000 is kinda cheap here bt not tat much difference in cost compared to gt plus. P1000 has more development compared to gt plus.
Nexus 7 is an excellent device but my current price would nt cover it so either its P1000 or gt plus.

Wait/save a bit longer if you've already got an x10 device.
I think my ICS'd up P1000 is incredible, but if starting from scratch today? I'd get the N7.
How about, wait 2 weeks, play with a N7 yourself, and try and find someone with a P1000 and see which one you think'll work out best.
(what $ IS the tab7 atm? Has it really fell through the floor?)
I'm in India its around 390$ here. Ppl who own tablets around me aren't into a lot of customisation or experimentation like me.
Does the processor in plus gives a high margin of speed or graphical quality over P1000??
Sent from my E10i using Tapatalk 2
In case of tab plus it has 3.2, so for smn appa such as adobe touch requires 3+ so it doesn't cause any issues. And even better new ones come up wit ics
My doubt, is p1000 worth buying since it has a lot of roms n gd customisation than tab plus which has ics, better compatibility wit all apps wit 1.2ghz ??

This thread is aimed to help people like me who either own an Galaxy S2 I9100 or Galaxy S2 I9100G to compare and also to evaluate whether a switch to the other version would make sense.
My main problem is that I own an internation SGS2 which runs with the Exynos SoC but I kinda dislike stock Samsung crapware. The firmares out there are not as flexible and smooth as AOSP firmwares such as CM9.
Now the question is should I (or anyone with the same "problem") consider getting the G version of the SGS2.
There are several pros and cons on both sides:
I9100 International:
+Processor is faster than in G
+Display is slightly better (source: chip.de)
+Firmware gets updated on a regular basis
+Community is bigger
+...?
-Phone heats up more than the G (source: chip.de)
-Batterylife is worse than G (source: chip.de)
-Exynos closed source crap (hwcomposer broken on JB, memleaks, workarounds to make it work etc.....) <-- biggest downturn for devs to make the device make use of all its power!
-...?
I9100G:
+Batterylife is better (source: chip.de)
+No heating problems
+OMAP SoC <-- dev friendly (codeworkx recommendation: get a OMAP device the next time )
+All features the internation SGS2 has
+...?
-Smaller Community (a lot of ports but no "real" development - except cm9/10)
-Processor is weaker (source: chip.de)
-Display is worse (source: chip.de)
-....?
There is no way to get a Galaxy nexus, cause of lack of sdcard support.
The reason why I actually started thinking about this is that CM10 is already in nightly status and has working hwcomposer for the I9100G.
Questions to be answered
1. Is it worth to "downgrade"?
2. Which one is better for future?
3. Is Exynos so much better than OMAP in questions of performance?
4. Which one is smoother at the end and has an overall better AOSP experience?
other thread is more or less dead and this thread here is in consideration of Jelly Bean and CM10 for both versions.
This one here is to elaborate whether triple buffer and vsync and working hwcomposer (JB features working on G) make the cons of the G more or less obsolete. Its not only about the raw hardware info its about the user experience and the availability of future AOSP support.

If N7000 get JB and we don't it's still possible for us (i9100) to get JB working, it's not as big difference in hardware as with i9300.
I would suggest N7000 for upgrade instead Galaxy Nexus. IMO i9100g "dev friendly SoC" is worth it, but I will stay with Exynos because performance. If you own either g or intl i9100 it's not worth changing, they seem to be same at all.

Hi
1) Can't understand question)
2) I think International
3) I haven't tested OMAP, but i9100 have good performance
4) Maybe both, but for i9100G easy make fully working AOSP rom.
Sorry for my bad english)
Previously I had G version but I got it replaced with non g
Now enjoying better S2

Samsung has announced the device and it is none other than the Galaxy Grand successor. Samsung rightly calls it the Galaxy Grand 2 and brings in better hardware and new design. Galaxy Note 3′s stitched faux leather back has also been adopted in this device as well and comes with a 5.25-inch 1280×720 HD TFT display.
The processor and RAM has also got an upgrade, which now comes with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 1.5GB RAM. Additionally, you’d find an 8 megapixel camera at the back, 1.9 megapixel HD camera on the front, 8GB of internal memory which is complemented with an external microSD card slot supporting up to 64GB. Other hardware features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, dual-SIM support and 2600mAh battery that promises up to 10 hours of playback and 17 hours of calls.
The phone runs Android 4.3 with Samsung UI overlay and other features like Samsung Hub, Story Album, Group Play, S Translator, S Travel, Sound & Shot, Best Shot and more.
There’s no info on the price but the phone will be available in black, white and pink.

Yupzz & it comes with android 4.3 which is somehow latest version of android around samsung devices for now.
But if we take a look then m not sure Grand will get further official 4.3/4.4 update in future ahead.
Andro 4.2 is the final update for our Grand.

Good to know,SAMSUNG has announced another Amazing device. Finally this grand will be having 720p display rather than previous 480p,faster processor and more RAM. According to my perception this device is one of the best affordable devices out yet.
I think the time has eventually come to upgrade our GRAND TO GRAND 2
May be This should be called Mega 5.2 as this is little brother of Mega 5.8 :good:
Anything larger than 5" is impossible to use without 2 hands... unless you have a really big hand.. definitely not upgrading. Samsung has a tendency to make their phones larger and larger... ditching rational ergonomic size...
Maybe it's just me. I don't like their phone-tablet hybrid phones (Note lines and similar sized devices) too big to use as a phone, too small to satisfy entertainment and web browsing use from a tablet...
Not enough spec changes to warrant an upgrade. The Moto G dual SIM will get Kitkat, has the pretty much the same spec. It looks to be a better option.

Anything bigger than 5 inch is useless, moreover samsung is releasing same design phone over and over again. No design change. You have to go near and see which galaxy variant it is as all are same.

This makes me feel that my sweet lil Grand is becoming old
I wish samsung has given Grand 2 with 16 internal memory ... snapdragon chipset ( The one we get in Nexus 4) or same chipset as s3 ... Super amoled panel and 3000 mah battery ...
I think Grand should be updated to 4.4....... its the best selling mid range in India.......... and its not 18 months old....
wish if Google themselve updated our phones
Samsung won't update our grand ...
Because if they do then no one going to but grand 2

If the price the same as S3 or Note 2 this Grand 2 won't sell sweet. As you can see Mega 6.3 price almost have the price as S3.

My intention is to keep my Grand til it's unusable. Maybe 1,5 years or so from now. And by then I won't buy another Samsung device. It has to be a Nexus. I've tasted how awful it is (especially regarding updates) to own a mid range device from several companies.
Samsung releases phones too fast... They might lose their market with this...

For me : I wont' upgrade to Grand 2. Grand is rather dissapointing for me (FYI, I've been using grand for 4 months). I'm not dissapointed for its software update, but its performance especially for daily usage especially after updating to 4.2. 4.1 is not that fast, and 4.2 is worse.
In here, Grand is priced 3.200.000 IDR (approx. $290) unlocked. For a $290 devices, surely I expect something more than this. Grand is very slow for a device using a dual core CPU especially when opening Gallery with more than a hundred photos. :crying:

Thats why the devs have made custom roms. Use a rom like cm or slim and all that lag will go away + you will get a pure nexus look:good:

The biggest problem with these custom ROMs is none of them support dual SIM, which is main reason some of us bought the Grand. If dual SIM is not required, then there plenty of better phones out there. And if you want pure Android, why not get the real thing and go with Nexus 4 or Nexus 5?

Hi,
I am looking to renew my phone now. First I was thinking in the S4 considering the price is quite good now the S5 is out. But then I thought maybe is more wise to get a S4+ since I plan to use the phone for a couple of years. But it seems that there is less support for the i9506 than for the original 9505 in terms of ROMs. What should I choose?
I have also cosidered the S5 but the price is too high and the only plus I see from it is the camera + dust/water protection. It feels better an S4 with the black edition back cover than the S5...
I would really appreciate some opinions/tips. Thanks!!!
i think S5 doesn't bring anything new to the table besides little cpu power.
its bulkier larger heavier. for me it;s no,no. s4 is large as it is.
you can have I9506 which is snapdragon 800 edition of s4 which is almost the same as s5 processing power.
Yeah but when u get i9506 u r stuck with stock firmware there is currently minimal development for it, and there is no 4.4.2 kk for it yet.
I wish I had gone for the i9505
Sent from my GT-I9506 using Tapatalk
i did use my S1 for years - from 2.2 (and after rooting and costum ROMs) to 4.2 - its still very good usable ..
i would say nearly as fast as on stock 2.2 when i bought it
only web rendering went a bit slow on some pages
so as long as you are not a gamer or massive picture editor you wont need the extra cpu power for years (my guess)
Hi everyone!
I'm new to this forum, as well as with mobile phone technology, so I would kindly ask you to help me in choosing between Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S5 Neo.
So, as I figured out by now, the cons of S5 Neo are that it has a weaker battery life than S5 and no Gorilla Glass (?), while on the other hand it's newer (it came out this year). Regarding the processor, the S5 has a 2.5 quad-core Krait 400, while the S5 Neo has a 1.6 octa-core Cortex-A53. I'm not familiar with processing power, but I'm guessing it's comes at about the same on both phones, right?
I was looking online to find a professional comparison and an opinion but couldn't find any good enough. If you could help me out with an expert opinion, I would be very thankful. Which phone would you choose for yourself?
Btw. in the store where I'm going to buy them they're at the same price so the price is not important.
I asked Samsung on Twitter and they said that the S5 Neo indeed HAS Gorilla Glass 3.

But Root is the biggest problem - there is nothing to find . I'm not sure about Gorilla Glass, but ok.

The main difference between those two phones is the processor, S5 has Snapdragon 801, while S5 Neo has Exynos 7580 Octa.
What does it mean?
For regular user - nothing.
For geeks - standard S5 has custom roms, kernels, it is easier to root, and if you care about benchmarks, it usually has higher scores than S5 Neo, but that's only bechmarks, so i prefer not to care about them.
