1) Power on your tab...
2) when you see the Samsung screen logo...
3) press and hold the Power+VolumeUp button (4g LTE version) until you see the the Big Android icon on the right & Box and Little Android on the left... Let go of the buttons
4) Volume Up to change Icons...
5) Volume Down to select the Box+Android - will take you to recovery mode
Don't know if this works for the earlier WiFi only model - I'm a noob!
All that being said... When I was rooting my 10.1 LTE yesterday using a youtube video for the earlier wifi model (a very good video), the last reboot into recovery mode wouldn't go into recovery mode!!!?? Screen went blank and tab shuts down.
That's my question... does anyone know how to fix it to get into recovery mode? I can see and choose the Box+Android icon, but as soon as I volume down, the tab shuts down... no recovery mode!?
Will a Factory reset help?

I have I/O as well but could not figure this out. Only way I figured was to actually root the device and then go to market and download Rom Manager and then install the Recovery for GT10.1(this is an option) and then boot into recovery.
For me to not have a rooted and couldn't find any useful information so I had to pick one of 3.0.1 pre-rooted roms and start from there.
Good Luck

[Q] how to reset a locked phone

need your help guys
My mates just got a galaxy s and hes locked the phone with the pattern unlock screen, theres no google account registered to the phone because its brand new so there is no other option than to keep trying with the pattern unlock!
Is there a way to factory reset the phone without flashing a new rom whilst in this situation?
If not, where can i find the correct stock rom (not interested in upgrading yet) and the correct version of odin?
Thanks Craig
you can boot it into recovery when you shut down the phone and then hold volume up, home and power until the samsung galaxy s i9000 screen appears. then release the buttons, you can navigate in the menu with the volume keys and confirm with home.

Very annoying bug on 4.0.3 LPY (not found in other topics)

Hallo guys, i just flashed N7000XXLPY via ODIN. Everything worked well but I have one big issue (that wasn't discussed in "bugs" thread).
Whatever I select, Swipe Unlock, Face recognition, Draw pattern, PIN code or whatever, it reacts the same: never requires swipe, PIN, pattern or else for unlocking. If i press briefly the power button, the display light switchs off. If I press again any other button (volume, home or power), the display light turns on but never asks for any method of unlocking. What to do? Does anyone else have the same issue?
Not happening here. Try a hard-reset after flashing a new ROM.
I have swipe unlock by default and it works. Screen does not power on when you press volume button, only if you press power or home button.
Thanks vcespon for your quick response. I tried hard reset via "Volume UP + Home + Power" method, I wiped cache, I tried hard reset via changing the CSC, I restored it to factory settings from menu, nothing worked. Any other oppinion?
LE: I found another issue, maybe is related with the first one. When I want to switch off the phone, I press (for 2 seconds) the power button and it just go to Samsung logo and swhitches off, without asking me those two questions about what I want to do (to can choose beetween flight mode, silent and power off) and if I'm sure that I want to power off the phone.
LE2: Tryed also Indian version (N7000DDLP8), no improvements.

Got reply with solution from YotaPhone Facebook support, sharing it in case someone has the same problem:
Unfortunately, encryption can not be undone.
In this situation, we recommend that you do a factory reset.
To do this, you need to download the phone in Recovery mode. To do this, turn off the phone. Press volume+ key and power key and hold 20-25 seconds. In the menu that appears , please Choose the "Wipe Data / Factory Reset" item by pressing the volume keys. To confirm your selection please press on the power button. In the menu please click Choose "Yes" and confirm by pressing the power button.
Please note that this procedure all personal data on your smartphone will be deleted.

Cannot enter recovery mode

Hi friends,
I have a Samsung galaxy J5 2016 (SM-J510F/DS). It is continuously rebooting, it reaches till android home screen and reboots from there. While in the home screen it shows a msg (Android is Starting.....), and then it reboots. I have observed that all the button presses and touch is working for a short duration in between the reboots. I have searched all over internet and tried numerous ways to enter to recovery mode, download mode, nothing is working. My home button is also not working. Can somebody suggest me a way to enter to recovery mode so that I can do a clean wipe and start new. Please help. Thank you.
Hi,
Did you tried to make reset from within phone settings ? May be you are able to enter Recovery Mode after that!
( My Samsung Galaxy J 3 pro was almost in the same condition rebooting again & again, One Repairer even said that the display has gone but I was able to enter the recovery mode > Bootlaoder > Download Mode & flashed latest stock rom with ODIN > Working perfect now! )
I turned off the phone before it reboots. Once it was completely off, I pressed ''Volume Up + Home + Power'' Buttons all together, released them as soon as anything appeared / flashed on the screen, an installing update screen appeared & then I was right in the Recovery Mode with all the options.
Thanks.
Thank you for the reply, but my home button is not working.

you can try something extreme like shorting home button contacts, but it might be a bit difficult.
