I have usb debuggin enabled do I need to have mock locations also?
What mode should I connect my phone in like just charge or pc mode..I have tried both both no luck..yet!!

I have managed to visit motofans.ru and downloaded roms etc.
I have finally magnaged to sort my phone out by down grading to 2.3.3 and then using super one click v2.3.1.
I is working now and I am on a The Cynogen ICS rom.
Loving it..!!!

Very cool thanks for the heads up.
Anyone tried this? Just curious im already rooted just maily would like it to unroot.
sent from LG Dare lol
It worked great for me, I rooted with it, tried a few root only apps...then I unrooted with it to see if it works, and it worked...then I rooted again so I can use those root only apps.
worked for me. painless, and quick. total time....less than 5 minutes.

Really Works? The Rooted Apps too?
Does this really work and do the rooted apps function? Why does this work and the bootloader has not been cracked? Cunfused....
And now there's this too.
I cant seem to get this to work. I downloaded the file, went and clicked root me and it just sits there. How long does it normally take
If that's all you did, then you need to reread the instructions. I'm sure it clearly states to toggle Bluetooth or wifi. I don't want to burn anyone but in my opinion, if you can't follow instructions maybe you shouldn't be rooting your phone.

will we still be able to use the one click method to root our phones after we have installed OTA update Froyo 2.2 from verizon in September. I have not rooted my X yet because the only thing i need it for is wifi tether and adblocker, i dont really need the custom ROMs. will i still be able to do this once my phone has received the update, if not will they develop a root for phones that have been updated via OTA
sorry for being such a noob thanks for your help

You cannot currently root a 2.2 device (unless you upgraded with that update.zip to 2.2 and moved SU), but I m sure that it will come sooner rather than later
universal androot
Im using universal androot and have my phone rooted, which i believe is the same thing as 1click root will i still get the ota in September with root on, I hope i have not posted in a inappropriate place I just was curious.
Bro, were did you get this universal androot?

I tried universal androot v1.6.1 and it was a no go, seemed soon after installing toolkit it kicked me out. I did the update.zip so i'm up to 2.2 now. Gonna try the droidx root in the first post see if that does it.

theres no way to root a 2.2 device yet, u have to root in 2.1 first then move su around and then move it again once upgraded to 2.2

this is incorrect. you can root your 2.2 Droid X with this method: http://www.droid-life.com/2010/08/26/droid2-rooting-method-works-for-droidx-running-froyo/
worked like a charm on first go for me.
My speaker on the back of my droidx is blown i need to take it to verizon. How do i get rid of superuser permissions app in app drawer? I rooted with universal androot. I was told you have to remove it first then unroot. So i looked for it in app manager to delete it but its not there. I tried unrooting it still not there. Rooted it back still not there. Thanks for ur help.

Traded the DINC in for the DX and rooted in 2 minutes!!!!!! Kinda miss the DINC, well I miss HTC Sence
does this one click root work for the 2.2? and is there a chance that the fone will not root correctly and not work?

How to get to root from newest OTA

+1 on the Droid3 root method. Took the OTA for 602 on my son's stock DroidX and then ran the update right after. No problems.
I used this.

I also used the droid 3 method....worked perfect...thx

You can root via the instructions above but to get on MIUI you must first SBF to 2.3.34 (Google for more instructions), then root via Z4root, install Droid 2 Bootstrapper, then flash the MIUI rom via ClockworkMod Recovery.
Good luck! =D

i have droid-x and i have flashed so many roms (offiical and pre-root) and CM7 amd MIUI etc...
right now i am currently on 4.5.602 pre-root (the zip files that are part 1 and part 2)
i have my phone setup pretty much how i want...uninstalled a ton of crap with root uninstaller....already made my nand backup.
just wondering what i do from here to get OTA .602 installed and rooted and then what about all my data/apps that i have setup?
thanks

Rooting With SuperOneClick

I got bored today alongside programming and playing some pool. a friend of mine wanted their Droid 2 rooted and I took the task.
With a shot in the dark I downloaded the driver's and made sure USB debugging was there when plugged into my laptop.
I'm not too familiar with the Droid 2 as I develop on the captivate, the different methods of rooting; device specification.
I used SuperOneClick and had no problems at all, might not be the right place but hey I try my best to inform.

Big thanks to CLShortFuse for all the work.
Thanks again for helping out and, "shooting a hole through the wall," instead of the quick root.

I'm not 100% sure if the Droid 2 has gotten the Gingerbread update officially, if your on a custom rom don't think you need this, if it's definitely a Droid 2 it should work completely fine.
We have got the GB official update and this won't work. There is currently only one way to root GB.

Ah, well I'd have to use one of my friends Droid 2 to fully test, either way one could always use this to root when flashing back to stock if needed be, thanks again for all the input

How to root Defy+?

How do I root my Defy+? Also are the Defy+ roms compatible with the original defy roms?

I have successfully rooted my defy + using doomlord's rooting tool.
URL
www.xda-developers.com/android/want-to-root-something-anything-try-doomlords-easy-rooting-toolkit/
My defy is a telstra branded unit running 2.3.6
I wouldn't bother with other roms just yet, mostly because of any telstra specific tweaks that you might lose, like nextG... Almost no other counties are using it, so any modded ROM based on a foreign ROM won't work without further tweaking. So bone up on how to get things working again should they break.
Once you've got the defy+ rooted you can remove the God awful telstraone app...it's pure poop. Just setup URL shortcuts to the services it tried to supply.
I'm on hols ATM and will try to cut out as much of blur as possible once i'm home.
Sent from my rooted defy+ 2.3.6 ;-)
i used SuperOneClick v2.3.1.0 and it worked whitout a problem
My response was more aimed at OP, and gauged by his avatar.
Telstra branded phones with 2.3.4, or once updated to 2.3.6, won't root with oneclick. Not the batch I experienced anyway.
NextG is a low freq variant of 3G chosen by telstra to cope with Australia's vast open spaces; hence they employ a custom production ROM. So what works in one country, on one carrier, won't necessarily work everywhere or any where else.
Sent from my rooted Defy+ 2.3.6 ;-)
i did it the way AzzA68 (thanks!), told everything ok with my new Defy+, it had the 2.3.5 with Telcel (Mexico)... greets
Mines rooted, i got Android 2.3.4.
Has anyone been able to get CWM working?
I'm not affraid to root defy+, it looks easy, but I can't find a good and functional guide, how flash CM or MIUI on Defy+
Some ideas?
Thanks guys

It's easy. Use SuperOneClick and as the name suggests it's just one click! The lastest version works on just about any android phone, including Defy+. - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
To install Cyanogenmod, there is a simple guide in a FAQ posted in the forum by one of the Dev's - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1065798
The way to install MIUI is basicly the same idea, except when it says to flash "update-cm-7.1.0-11-Defy-signed.zip"you flash the MIUI zip file instead.
SuperOneClick doesn't work with the defy+

I've got a Defy+ running android 2.3.6. I'm planning to install MIUI on it, but I'm not sure if any of the rooting methods work with the .6 update of android :/
Some guys over at this thread tried to use DooMLoRD's easy rooting toolkit, but it doesn't seem to work for them either.

DooMLoRD and the latest version of SuperOneClick both use the same exploit (called zergrush). This appears to have been fixed in the latest versions of 2.3.6 shipping on the Defy+, hence no root for the moment.

Sorry, not at the present time. Just have to wait until someone finds another loophole that can be exploited, I guess. Might be worth keeping an eye on the main SuperOneClick thread for news - the dev does say on his blog that he's planning to focus on Motorola phones next. In the mean time I am looking forward (not much) to life with a non-rooted phone, depending on how mine comes back from UK repair agent (having managed to brick it by attempting to flash incompatible SBFs in the hope that one would then be rootable).
How are you supposed to make any kind of useful backups without ClockWorkMod and Titanium Backup?
Apparently SuperOneClick v2.3.3, releaed a few hours ago, has added a new exploit to root on "Motorola." Might be worth having another try with the latest version!
SuperOneClick Does work with my Defy+
SuperOneClick 2.3.3 worked fine rooting my defy plus.

I was in the same situation for a month, until last week i did this:
flash official 3.6.8 update zip using rsd lite, this will install 2.3.3 on your device.
Then root using Superoneclick and it will work.
From here some people have said you ca install OTA root keeper so you can update to official 4.7.3 ROM, but what i did was install CM7 by vanillaLVL and it's been working perfectly.
BE CAREFULL with this method, as the very first time i tried flashing my phone with rsd lite it bricked, i could get it working again after 2 days though, just make sure you do all this on a 32 bits version of Windows.
Does this method still work on Droid Pro 2.3.4?

Hello, Does this rooting method still work on Droid Pro with Android OS 2.3.4 ? Downgrading it to 2.3.3 and then running superoneclick? Could you point me to some detail instructions somewhere! am new to the rooting process, but will do it if possible, the crap ware on my droid pro is killing the phone's performance.... also, could you please detail on CM7 ?
I assume, once the phone is rooted, I would be able to remove the crapware?
Please help.
