Hi all,
I've just flashed my Motorola Milestone 2 with the ROM below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169038
It previously ran the stock 2.3.4 which was pushed out by Motorola late last year. I rooted the device using SuperOneClickv2.3.1 and then rebooted via Droid 2 Bootstrapper and followed the instructions in that post to install the ROM. The device now boots into MS2Ginger 3.0 successfully and all functions work - except the camera.
Unlike other posts on the forum I can use the hardware button to enter the camera. But there is no image preview on either the camera nor video modes. However, if I "take" a picture, the picture is taken successfully and stored to my SD card. It's as if the preview is just not appearing, but the camera is actually functioning. My symptoms are the same as the poster below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1515840&highlight=camera+preview
To this end I am a bit lost. Any help or pointers would be gratefully received!
I'm having the same problem.
New Milestone 2 updated to UK 2.3.4 SBF then installed MS2Ginger 3 according to instructions in aforementioned thread (I think I followed pretty closely).
I cannot:
- Play video in Youtube app or Flash (not tried anything else)
- See any preview in the camera app.
Both just display black where the video would be.
Would love to post in developer forum and help them fix this bug (and help sort my own issue too!) but for silly 10 post rule.
I've reposted over in the MS2Gingerbread thread. Hopefully someone will see it and pick up on our problem..
Thanks!
Have you made any progress with it yourself?
I think I'll move on to a different ROM soon as it's a show-stopper. It's unfortunate because I was loving everything else about this one.
I had many problems with MS2Ginger 3 too, even after two full wipes and re-installing, it was still unstable, so I gave up: got back to retail 2.3.6 and now I'm on tezet cm9 and will soon update to this one
Now I got so much used to the ICS interface that I can't go back to GB

I entered my phone rom as CM-GB
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/10191-up...tery-no-charge-led-fm-radio-charge-while-off/
Then I had my first rom as MIUI on Gingerbread (in my opinion, MIUI has the best working camera)
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/19646-mi...mpass-fix-8-point-touch-smooth-scrolling-mod/
Finally, I put CM9 onto my second rom section
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/18589-cyanogenmod-9-unofficial-beta/
I was able to switch back and forth from every rom without any problems. I use CM9 as my main ROM of choice, and when I need to take a picture, I will swap onto my MIUI ROM. All it takes is a simple reboot to swap between them. This worked for me but I can't guarantee that it will work for you (I'm still shocked it works so well!! ). If this did work for you, please make sure to click the thanks button!!
13th angel's cm9 port has had mostly working camera for like a week. One of the other members has also tweaked the latest build and claims stock camera will take pics 100%. He is working on video and panorama now.

Here's the custom build if anyone wants to try it. For me camera works every time and will take pictures.
This build should also have mute in calls working. Sorry I realized that I was transferring the zip over wifi and was wondering what was taking so long.
All I did was fork the D2G framework_base and merge some overlay changes from tpruvot's base to get the camera buffer allocation working. I needed this so that I can start working on getting the panorama and camcorder working. All of my changes are at https://github.com/JB1tz
If this build fixes most of the camera issues for anyone who tries it then I can try to cleanup the patches for x13thangelx if he wants to pull.
I'm in the process of getting the camcorder and charging mode working. If i'm not too tired tonight and I have some success i'll update my server with a new build.

Hello all,
Kinda new into Android world and afraid that I have done some mistakes till now.
I have a moto defy and at some point I installed without knowing what I am doing
Android 2.3.6 "Gingerbread" 4.5.1-134-DFP-139 - retail blur from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11588065&postcount=1
Problem is that I want to be able to go back and install Cyanogen 7.1 but it seems that being an older kernel I cannot downgrade! Is there a possibility to do something as I hate the looks of my ROM now and also the battery life sucks
Thanks!
Read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1486731&highlight=bl6+downgrade
With the SBF in that thread you can downgrade to froyo.
This is incredible.
already flash this and now I have downgraded. Now I am downloading 2.2.2 Froyo 3.4.2-177-3 GB Blur and I hope I will be able to get my cyanogenmod back
Could you please suggest the best ROM to flash after the chinese one was flashed to device. I tried a 2.2.1 and phone doesn't boot, now I am trying 2.2.2 Froyo 3.4.2-177-3 GB Blur
----------------------------Later edit------------------------
Nop...still not working....When I am writing the new ROM it end succesfully but phone doesn't come on!
Please provide a solution or a version of ROM to flash
Is there something to be known regarding what should be flashed after this Chinese ROM is flashed in phone?!
You can try this:
http://ge.tt/8EXW7QD/v/0
This zip contains the chinese SBF, and a nandroid-Backup with a european system-partition.
You must root the chinese one, install SndInitDefy_1.9.apk.
And then you must restore the nandroid-backup.
you can only use this froyodown at the future, you can not flash normally froyo.sbf ever cause you on BL6.
but it dont matters, you can install CM7, MIUI, CM9 or whatever you want.
Thank you mate... At this point I have already on my device Cyanogen7, unfortunately now I am struggling with a bug of it....as when I try to call or receive a call display goes black and won't power on when I press the power button but this is a different story and I will look for answers elsewhere.
Thanks again for all your help...you'we been a huge one for me!

Your proximity sense censor seems to be not working correctly.
I was thinking that the problem was from within the firmware because in stock phone firmware I had no issue. With CyanogenMod when I give a call display goes black as supposed but, never comes one again and the notification LED light's red, but only just a tiny tiny bit....on the day can't be seen but only at night.

Just remove your battery cover, and call someone...wait for the screen to stay black and then use an appropriate screwdriver to unscrew the tiny screw on the simetric side of the proximity sensor..unscrew it until the screen goes On again...your problem is solved
Hi all! I just purchased 4 days ago my nexus 4 16Gb
Im quite happy with it but here are some questions: I'm just asking them because probably someone else has already gone through the same doubts and probably has some more experience: This device's forums have the fame of being more polite and tolerant than some other, so I hope you guys give me some feedback
I come from SGSII - I have ben using CM9 and 10.0 until it got bricked on november 2012
In the moment i received the new phone, i unlocked it, installed CWM Recovery and made a backup of the original ROM, then, installed CM10.1+franco kernel (both nightly)
The questions I have are:
1: Perhaps the low battery life has something to do with the fact that this is my new toy and I cannot stop playing with it, but I'm thinking about trying official ROM+ root.... would this improve the battery life?
2: The camera has been acting weird a couple of times: Once, the image was flickering: a reboot fixed it.... and another time, when i opened the camera app, would get a black screen. Im not very patient.... so I restarted and the problem is gone... Would official ROM fix this?
3: Which features do we have in stock rom that are not present on CM?
4: On stock rom, can you Root/Unroot and then re-lock the phone as if nothing happened? ¿Do you lose data if you do so?
5: There is a lot of confusion about this: When you unlock the phone, the disclaimer says that process "MIGHT" VOID THE WARRANTY..... does it void it or not?, what does that "might" mean?
Overall, the phone is wonderful and I'm really happy, I'm just thinking about testing stock rom but I don't want to lose functionality...
I'm waiting for your advice.
Thanks!!

Hi all
Have owned a X5 (U8000) since April 2011. In December 2011 I was introduced to rooting and custom ROMs via a friend
He rooted the phone and installed MIUI 1.11.25 - which has worked well, with two issues Green Lines in standard YouTube Playback and not being able to WiFi Hot Spot.
Today after many months of procrastination I purchased ROM Manager 5.5.2.8 and installed MIUI 2.12.20.
The two problems I have still remain sadly and I have introduced a third - the 'bold' headers in ROM Manager are missing and I can only see the words below.
Wondering if anyone knows a fix for above issues - have read all the threads I can find and see nothing mentioning these issues (the WiFi Hot Spot was fixed in the release just after MIUI 1.11.25).
The next question - I want to try CM10.1 which requires the official 2.3.5 kernel (?) - I am having trouble locating a mirror that still works.
Thanks all

My hardkeys (back/menu/home) stopped working ONLY on flxo/Vanir firmwares, ive tried both cm10.2 (20140204_cm_10.2_skomer-ota-eng.flx, which is supposed to be "rock solid", i dont want nightlies since this phone is going to my gf so im after a stable firmware) but i've also tried latest nightly vanir 4.4 but that got the same bug in it!

@Kosh_swe, have you found a solution? I also failed to get the Vanir ROM to work and I'd consider the flox CM10.2 ROM. Your post suggest that my radio would be dead in flox, too.

Hey guys,
I recently compiled flxo CM11.0 rom with STE OMX support (from TeamCanjica).
I've been testing it for a couple of weeks, for me everything seems ok (no reboots, camera working ...)
I didn't test bluetooth hand's free, but it's certainly still broken.
You can download this rom from my dropbox account :
xxx
I'm also trying to compile Ubuntu Touch for S7710, I'll let you know when the rom will be flashable.

Testing radio issues
Hi to all,
I just tested radio issues on my phone. I was researching, why radio is not working.
Here are results, maybe it will help. Anyway, I have my GT-s7710 for testing and I can do some tests or catch some debug informations if needed.
It seems that problem why radio is not working is located in modem-supervisor process. In original firmware, this process is responsible for uploading firmware into dbx500 platform chip. But in CM, there is no such process.
I am not expert, but it seems to.
I tried to use old modem-supervisor process to make everything working.
Services line from original fw:
Code:
service modem-supervisor /system/bin/modem-supervisor -r -f /dev/dbx500_mloader_fw -i /sys/devices/platform/ab8500-i2c.0/chip_id -c monitor -t 0
but it needs to be changed because /sys/devices/platform/ab8500-i2c.0/chip_id changed to /sys/devices/platform/ab8505-i2c.0/chip_id
Problem is that firmware event for loading firmware is never generated and firmware is not uploaded.
I have some dumps and traces if you need them. Thank you for your work!

Your "tested" devices are just headphones, right?
The Problem is not the hearing part - the microphone signals are blocked...
if you have a real headset - please try with that one again and tell me
an idea
The 7580's phone hardware is almost identical to the 7710. The processor in the 7580-higher heights, but the hardware buttons and then there are all of the functions, but it has the 4.2.2 firmware, which allow moving to the SD card. Somehow it should possess to operate from 7710.
I'm Hungarian, sorry if the translation is wrong, happened with google.
Okay so I am having the same problem with HW buttons as many others before me...

After clean 1st boot after the installation the buttons are working perfectly, but after reboot (2nd boot) they are not working properly. Only long presses are working (google search by long press of menu button, kill aplication by long press of back button, last apps by long press of home button).
So? There is no such responde on how to fix that..!

XCover 2: BT hands free - Problem fixed yet?
Hey developers,
I was wandering if the BT problem has been fixed for Cyanogenmod Version 10.2 for XCover 2.
BT hands free. Connection/pairing works, but the audio path is broken.
Thanks a lot!
baseband wipe
I can't get Cyanogenmod 10.2 working. Everytime installation wipes my baseband.
When I install the Stock ROM SIM works again - but after flashing CM again also wipes baseband again.
My Installation-Tools:
Odin v3.07
CMW: 20140112_cwm-6.0.4.6_skomer_fixed.tar.md5
CM: 20140204_cm_10.2_skomer-ota-eng.flx.zip
Is there any chance to install the baseband (I think it's inside the modem.bin)?
No network available in Polish Play
I'm installing CM for my father in law on Samsung X Cover 2 and I'm facing problem with no available network.
I've tried CM 11 and CM 10.2 - both are running fast but both doesn't recognize any network operator.
CM11 has additional problem with hanging during shutdown.
I've found that Polish network Play has common problems with radio: like here
https://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod4milestone/issues/detail?id=510.
But even I'm putting T-Mobile sim card then still phone doesn't recognize (phone is coming from Play but it is unlocked).
When I restored Play stock ROM then it works.
Could anybody help in this?
I cannot point link to logcat because new user limitation - pastebin URL part is rWttd9PH

Forget CM en try Vanir or MIUI these are more up2date. Also CM11 is alpa with camera bug:
First look at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/t/xcover-2
Vanir
Second, I use Vanir 4.4.4 daily. It has some bugs, but not some bugs that makes it unstable. Known issues:
Start/Stop navbar after every restart
Use this solution to fix connection errors after a fresh Flash: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60411469&postcount=612
Other small bugs:
2G/3G quick setting and normal settings dont work properly because of absence of LTE
Navigation Ring and immersive mode causes dead touch screen space
DSP manager doesn't work
After using Vanir 4.4.4 I never want to go back! It's that much faster, more free RAM en better battery performance. Because of the better RAM performance, you must kill apps more often else it will drain the battery quicker :silly:.
Best way to Flash with 4.4.4 is to first flash Clockworkmod through ODIN, then do the usual Full Wipe --> Wipe Cache --> Flash Rom --> Flash GAPPS. Here is a video of someone doing these things. P.S. in this video the process is speeded up also reboot can freeze the system (just remove battery after a couple of minutes)
Files
Vanir: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7agwkTbiz0pNHZMQlpudkR4NUU/view
GAPPS: https://mega.co.nz/#!kokjzJwT!eqmMam5r5N2kWvtmSMy4QnaHnxvoqhDtr_joSDU5anI
MIUI
Another option is MIUI (used on the the popular Chinese Xiaomo phones). Instead of the Vanir build, this build is still being maintained. But because it's based on Vanir it has most likely has the same bugs. Never tried it because I prefer stock Android.
2nd, the connection error fix for vanir could also work for CM (vanir uses stuff from CM).
