Hey Guys
Back in WP7 world after a long time and I have a 1.4 hw phone..
I can see that custom ROM's can be installed now and saw this thread for 1.4 tango
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1553759
1) Worth putting custom ROM ?
2) is this the best one for 1.4 hw?
3) All apps and settings lost after upgrade? any way to backup / restore apps and settings?
4) Any other thing I need to consider before / after doing?
5) I won't get FOTA from samsung after these roms ?
6) An easy guide if available and if recommended to put custom ROM?
Just wondering if the current custom ROM's are worth putting and is it worth doing it ? and which one for 1.4 ?
Cheers

I'm pretty new to all of this, but CM's new roms keep giving me weird 3g issues.
I have a few questions.
1) Can we restore back to the OTA updated rom (if i have the new radio EREB26) and where is it?
2) Is there a way to use the stock OTA ROM and just add the highmem kernel and ChainsDD LED trackball thing?
3) I guess a more general question is is it posisble to just add different kernel's to the stock ROM and it'll work ok ( just by flashing or pushing files) or is the process a lot more involved than that?
Thanks
can i upgrade straight from corvus to vegacomb without loosing my apps or having to reinstall them ? , or do i need to whipe the tablet first and then install vegacomb and all my apps ? , ( and if so , im guessing "Titanium Backup ★ root" is the best and fastest way to keep stuff between roms ? )

Hi there.
As far as i am aware you need to flash the modded stock rom to use vegacomb.
It would be far better to ask this question in the vegacomb thread. Starting new threads asking questions just clogs up the forum. Thanks.
Take it easy
you have to flash the modded stock first. You dont have to boot it so just flash it and after flash stay in clockwork and flash vegacomb
cheers , and my bad , ill think of that next time , xD
Hi
im new to android ..
i own a ideos u8150.........and i have rooted it with z4 root
I also have managed to install clock world mod 3.0.2.4 i flashed it through pc (works perfectly)
now i want to change my stock rom ..i' heard ideos HD and droniX are good roms
i'd like to install droniX 0.6 raw ginger ..
but can anyone help me in flashing the rom i need a guide..
also how can i make full backups so i can revert to my stock rom anytime i want..
Does switching to custom roms affect baseband of my mobile ..
because of a picture i saw in a blog that says "baseband version :unknown" in mobile settings .
i have been a apple user and to jailbreak you need to preserve your basebands so is there anything like that in android
i have also read that after flashing dorinX .6 many see a black screen ..how can i prevent that..
i've also installed rom mangaer free version from market but its useless because everytime press any option it tells me to install colckworld mod and when i press install a list of phones comes up but u8150 is not in the list only 7 options.......
Thankyou
You won't get much love here as this is in the wrong forum, but here is a link to my rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1375289
You dont need to use my rom, it just has flashing instructions in the first post.
*Good luck with ginger, it is still not stable, so maybe stick with 0.5.4.
*Baseband is not changed by flashing roms in CWM, only by official huawei update software, find a copy of yours before flashing if you can.
*CWM has the option to make a NAND backup under backup and restore.
*Dronix is good, Leandroidmod is ok, Ideos HD seems to be deprecated as I had bugs which I reported and have not been fixed so I switched roms. Has not had an update in months.
Here is the wiki page for u8150, have fun:

Hi newman2015:
First of all, that can void you warranty since you will root and install a custom recovery on the S5 (Of course it depends on your region).
If you want a more stable and mature ROM, then go for Kitkat, some ROMS out there have great MODs like the Dragon KK CM11 rom.
On the other hand if you want to try something new and new capabilities then go for Lollipop, there are great variants out there and they are getting more stable each day, but expect issues.
I have tried several of them but the best for LP are Bliss, Dragon, CM12 from albino887 (UNNOFICIAL)... For KK i recomend Dragon ROM, Liquid Smooth and Vanir, all of them with great customization, but that's my personal suggestion.
I hope this helped.
Best! :highfive:

Hi newman2015:
Since you have the International variant of S5, you can flash any of those ROMs that I mentioned earlier, if you need further assistance don't hesitate to ask.

Hi newman2015:
Of course. IF YOU WANT FIND A GUIDE WITH IMAGES, just google it. But the basic steps are as follow.
- Always do a backup!!, since you can lost everything (CONTACTS, FILES, PHOTOS, ETC.)
- Download a stock image in case that anything goes wrong, that way you can boot you S5 once again
- Download ODIN, that way you can boot you S5 once again and just in case
- Download your desired ROM to your PC
- Download GAPPS to your PC (remember to download KK GAPPS)
- First of all follow the guide to root and install a custom recovery (Chainfire CF-Root, don't do anything extra FOLLOW THE GUIDE and you will be safe)
- Once you have root and a custom recovery and you booted into ANDROID OS, transfer the ROM and GAPPS to your phone
- Remember to do a backup!!
- Find your APN settings in your current ROM and take note of then, back up them, etc.
- Turn off your phone and press HOME, POWER and VOLUME UP button to boot into RECOVERY
- Find the option WIPE
- Swipe to do a Factory Reset (you will start clean... )
- Once it finish, select the option BACK (DON'T SELECT FORMAT DATA OR ADVANCED WIPE)
- Select the OPTION INSTALL
- Navigate to the directory where you saved the ROM and GAPPS
- First select THE ROM FILE
- Select the OPTION ADD MORE ZIPs
- Select GAPPS file
- Swipe to begin...
- Wait a little... a little more...
- If you don't receive errors select the OPTION FLASH DALVIK and CACHE (Just to be safer)
- Select the option REBOOT
- Enjoy your new ROM
- Restore your APN settings, contacts, etc.
Hope it helps
Best!
P.D. To be honest I can't remember if the hebrew option is there, but my guess is that it is

Hello,
I have a unlocked Huawei P8 GRA-L09 B390, and i would like to install the custom rom Gratitude by Tecalote, and I have some question :
- Should I install the custom rom, or should I wait an update (because the custom rom is based on firmware b366, and that would be a 'downgrade')
- If the custom rom based on B390 will be out, is that easy to update it. Can I do it immediately or should I unroot first then update ?
- I'm a player of Pokemon Go, can I still play it with the Magisk Edition ?
- What's the main difference between simple root my P8 and install the custom rom ?
Thanks in advance.
I'm not sure if I understand all your questions.
I'll try to help:
- If you install your custom rom it will be a downgrade, but it's possible, that it doesn't matter, because of many differences (as I hope)
- For the update to a new version of the rom, I can't help right now. The safest way to update would be to make a full wipe, so you get sure, that everything is okey and nothing is disturbing, but with some Roms it works also to just wipe the Cache and to flash the new Zip-file - read the instructions, for more safety make a full wipe, but you won't have to unroot
- If you install a Rom, you will have a new operating system, with a new user-interface etc. Perhaps you get more updates, perhaps less (depends on the developer of the Rom, this is not Huawei) - the system could work better or worser. With simple root you can use apps that need root-access (there are a lot).
For the Pokemon go apps I can't help
Could I help in general?
