Quick question as the searches are failing me...
I removed the One Click Lag Fix 2.1+ in preparation for the JI6 OTA update. I have not removed my root access yet as I've been told that the update will simply overwrite it back to a "normal" user status. I still have OCLF installed from the market. I removed the ext2 tools also.
After removing the lag fix I was expecting that I would be able to mount my vibrant via USB like I did before I rooted it originally. Sadly this is not the case.
I've made sure to enable the Mass Storage prompt in the Applications -> USB settings, but according to the syslogs on my mac it's not even seeing the SD cards when I attempt to mount them. (No error, no nothing).
Is there something else I have to do to get usb mass storage working again?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Switch the setting To ask you what to do. plug it in, choose Mass storage. then switch it back to just mass storage.
Thanks for the reply but I need a little more detail.
Switched to "Ask", plugged in, chose "Mass Storage".
You didn't say to attempt to mount the drive at that point, and I did choose Mass Storage, but I cannot switch it back to just mass storage as opposed to "Ask" while the USB cable is still plugged in.
So I'm guessing what you meant was: "Set USB plug to 'Ask', plug in, choose Mass storage, do not mount USB, unplug USB cable, change USB plug to 'Mass Storage', plug USB cable back in, attempt to mount."
Is that correct?
all I had to do was just change it from mass storage to ask and them instantly change out back to mass storage

Again, what _exactly_ is meant by this since you cannot change the USB settings from Ask to Mass Storage while the USB cable is still connected?

When you plug your phone into the computer via usb, if the message to mount does not come up in the status bar disconnect the usb cable, go to settings, applications, usb settings, change it from mass storage to ask on connection, and then change it back.
After I did that, I plugged the phone into the computer again and it asked me if I wanted to mount or not.
If this does not work, try turning off debugging and doing it over again.

Ok, this is weird...
I turned USB Debugging on because it was set to off, and now my drives mount correctly.
*shrug* It works now, and that's all that I'm looking for
Thanks for the suggestions everybody!
Err yes. With USB debugging on, it will always work.
To clarify the instructions:
1. Turn on "Ask"
2. Plug into PC
3. Select "Mass storage"
4. At this point, if it shows that you can mount, great.
5. Unplug and switch to Mass storage.
6. when you plug it in, it should always prepare to mount.

Strange, that is what I tried and it did not work until I turned USB Debugging on.
Yeah, I just did some more testing and confirmed that the only way I can get my drives mounted at the moment is to turn debugging on.
You're on a Mac, right? I've read that Macs require the phone to be in debugging mode.

Hadn't heard that before now but based on this and previous behavior it sounds right to me
Thanks for the heads up!

Yeah, not sure if it's because of driver support, but I've read this on a couple forums now.
I did not have to switch settings I just selected mass storage again and it worked.
I am having trouble connecting the tab to my PC in USB Storage mode, I click on mount but the storage is still not showing on my PC. I have already enabled USb debugging mode.
I also happen to use an HTC desire which I happen to connect in USb everyday so I think i fairly know what am doing.
Any suggestion please
Try installing the software for the Gtab from samsungs internet site...
I had the same problem, but solved it with the samsung kies software package...

Shouldn't be required - I have USB debugging on almost permanently and have no trouble connecting via mass storage.
Regards,
Dave
I too, have had issues when attempting to use the sd card as mass storage hooked up to my PC. I fixed it by turning off USB debugging, when I wanted to copy files to the Tab, then turning it back on after I was done copying files.
I have a rooted Atrix 4G and I am having a very weird problem with it.
If I go into Settings->SD Card & Phone Storage while no USB is connected it shows the following:
Code:
[B][SIZE="2"]Internal Phone Storage (media area)[/SIZE][/B]
[B]Total Space[/B] - 10.71GB
[B]Available Space[/B] - 10.60GB
[B]Unmount Internal Phone Storage[/B] (selectable option)
[B]Format Internal Phone Storage[/B] (grayed out/unselectable)
Makes sense... all is good right? Until I plug in USB (debugging mode selected, USB mass storage for connection type). The Notification bar shows:
Code:
[B][SIZE="4"]Ongoing[/SIZE]
USB debugging connected[/B]
Select to disable USB debugging
[B]USB connection[/B]
Select to manage your USB connection
[B][SIZE="4"]Notifications[/SIZE]
Internal phone storage is unmounted[/B]
Internal phone storage is unmounted
Going into Settings->SD Card & Phone Storage now shows:
Code:
Internal Phone Storage (media area)
Total Space - Unavailable
Available Space - Unavailable
Unmount Internal Phone Storage (grayed out/unselectable)
Format Internal Phone Storage (grayed out/unselectable)
What is going on, and how can I get it to mount the internal storage while connected with USB debugging?
Instead of "USB Mass Storage", "Motorola Phone Portal", or "Windows Media Sync" choose "None".
Internal Phone Storage is Unmounted - Motorola Atrix
Having the same problem. Seems like when you power off and reboot the phone, while still connected through the USB port, the problem goes away, but I am not really sure. Help would be appreciated.
I got the same message but it wasn't connected via usb yet i've tried to mount the internal thru recovery settings but it keeps going back yo being unmounted

Do what he said!
Pull down notification bar > select USB connection > Select None
hello i to had this problem but after messing around with different settings i tried to start from the begining so that didnt work and then i wiped everything and i do mean everything if it could be wiped i wiped it clean and installed my download rom i had gotten and still didnt work but i wiped it again and did this 3 times in a row and installed my rom again and it worked so try wiping everything and about 3 times and install a custom rom and see if that works
FIS
The best way to fix it is too... first all the apps from the internal storage... the once that you cannot uninstall move the app and then uninstall and use the format option.. it will def. do it... i had the same problem but in the end it worked.
I accidentally deleted some important photos which stored in my S4's internal SDCard. So I connected my phone to PC through USB cable, and plan to run some recovery tools from PC to get them back. However, when connected, my S4's identified as MTP (portable media device) rather than USB Mass Storage, therefore those recovery tools can't do anything.
I googled the net and found some apks that help my phone to switch between MTP/USB mode, however this method only works for external SDCard.
Any ways to retrieve accidentally deleted files? Thank you in advance!
p.s. I do heard about that flash TWRP in will help the PC identify the phone as a USB Mass Storage Device, is this true? If it's true, how do I do it?
Thx!!!

Thanks, but no this was exactly the app I used, it can't mount the internal card. If you read carefully the author also says 'It will never be able to export the internal storage on the device.' All my deleted pics are on the internal card so....
