Dear Longhorn Developer tenorntex is there a posibity that you can make this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933517
available to your releases or better yet make an flashable zip file that works for Longhorn 2.6. It would be greatly appreciated.
You could likely safely flash those on top of his rom, make a backup and try.
If it doesnt work just restore and you dont lose anything.

I already tried, it didn't work nothing happened, it just kept working normally
I am not sure what you are wanting? That link had 4 different zips that do various things with some adding, and some removing. Those zips should be compatible to flash from StreakMod Recovery, just be sure to get a Nandroid backup first as a fail safe.

Sorry for not specifying what I was thinking of is replacing the current launcher in longhorn 2.6 with the stock GB launcher
Here is the CM7 stock launcher from that post. I also added it to the First post of Longhorn 2.6.

Pershoot's kernel is great for extending battery life. Virtuous is a sense based ROM with lots of tweets. CM Nightlies are experimental(sometimes very unstable) builds that are built every night with the new commits.
All can be flashed the same was through ROM Manager/ClockworkMod Recovery. Just always remember to make a nandroid backup before you flash anything, so if anything goes wrong you can revert to the backup that works.
Lol - I know lots of people don't know what a nandroid is. It's the backup option in ROM Manager/recovery.
ok thanks and after i flash something how can i get everything back ,,i have to go rom manager and look for something ?

I'm sorry I'm having trouble understanding your question? Do you mean how do you restore a backup that you made? Well first off be sure that you go through ROM manager to make a backup just go to "Backup current ROM". Do this before you make any changes or flash new ROMs.
In order to restore to your backup, go to ROM manager, go to "Manage and Restore Backups" you can then click and restore from a backup that you made.

If your talking about google apps then you need to d/l the latest gapps file. Many of the ROM's already have google apps installed but for instance the Cyanogen nightly's don't.
If your talking about something else please be more specific.
Hiya, i am in the UK England and have a Samsung Galaxy Apollo GT-5801 which was on orange but unlocked
and now fully rooted using SuperOneClick it's currently running stock ROM and no kernels have been flashed.
so it's basically just rooted.
i have been reading in depth about flashing kernels/roms and seen everyone always saying make a backup
with clockworkmod recovery,
well now i am stuck the apollo according to clockworkmod website and ROM manager doesn't have any
supported application for this model of phone. every time i go to install via rom manager it says sorry this
phone is not supported unless you have installed clockworkrecovery by some other method.
So can someone tell me how i can get Clockworkmod recovery onto my phone with the custom rom it already has?
this way i can make a backup of my nand/phone and be happy that i can just restore it if and when needed.
not really interested in using custom roms i don't want to mess with that side i am happy with the phone as it is
just i wish when holding down power + volume + home button the recovery hboot screen had the clockworkmod instead.
all i rooted the phone for was to get shut of the stock apps taking up space, my phone is now how i like it.
and just want to be-able to make an image to restore back to.
i have tried using premium apps like titanium backup pro but its useless because that only lets you
backup and restore in the phone OS and plus it makes like 150 separate files instead of 1 .img file or zip file
i need something i can backup/restore if my phone one day doesn't boot.
i just downgraded my wife htc wildfire to be-able to root and install cygenmod7 which she is loving.
but that phone has clockworkmod (rooted with unrevoked) so it automatically installed it.
Anyway thats the background, and the reason i really need to get this nand backup working on my phone.
can anyone , anyone who's somehow installed clockworkmod recovery on their Apollo please help me out.
thank you!
Just flash a custom ROM such as Purumod v3. You don't know what you're missing in terms of performance. It's amazing! And it also has CWM pre-installed as do all of the ROMs on this forum. It saves you the hassle of finding the CWM files and having to manually overwrite some of the system files. If you really don't want to install a custom ROM then you can flash the G3Mod kernel which has CWM pre-installed or you can move this file to /system/bin.

Thanks for the quick reply, i looked into the G3mod Kernel it states there that the latest version is available
but when you click the download link to the files the latest there is a kernel below that.
code.google.com/p/g3modteam/downloads/list
if you look there the latest version they have is G3MOD_2.4.1_NON-OC.zip but there is a thread in G3MOD advertising 2.5
but i cannot see or find this 2.5 anywhere, obviously i want the latest as it includes the latest CWM version from what i can tell
on the features list.
unless i am blind 2.5 is not available at the link above sorry not got 10 posts so can't post the actual link?

thanks much appreciated, wonder why 2.5 isn't on the google downloads site?

Its because the Dev who uploaded version 2.5 forgot the Google code password and I would recommend using fugumod kernel and the cwm file I posted since G3MOD kernel doesn't give as good battery life as fugumod.
Click thanks if I helped.
wouldn't it be a good idea for him to maybe edit his first post explaining that and maybe putting on mediafire or some other hosting.
lol people like me wouldn't be scratching their heads reading a thread which is all about this kernel but the kernel is no where to be found.
much appreciated guys,
I've tried searching for a fix to the "Android is Updating" on Every Boot problem with no avail.
I am rooted on stock and have tried to uninstall and reinstall TBP. This did not solve the problem. I read something about moving odex files around in the /data/app but there are only apk's
I have Currents, Earth, Magazine, iWnn, Picasa and Set-up Wizard frozen.
Have you run any scripts for "supercharging" or similar?
your dalvik is getting wiped on every boot. its either the rom, kernel, mod, or a root app that you enabled it in.
Did you have disabled/frozen apps then done a davlik cache clearance ?
if so try enabling them and maybe reset davlik again.

That much I have gathered from looking around for a solution. Stock rom (rooted), 3.4.0-perft-ge039dcb kernal and I used the wugfresh toolkit for rooting

yup, and that didn't fix the issue
I have the same on my N4 and N7.
On the N4 I didn't freeze any application, on N7 Currents is frozen.
I am wondering whether this happens because I integrated sys Dalvik into ROM with Titanium Backup

yes. its either a mod that you flashed(sound mod, or a supercharger script, etc..), the kernel youre using, or a root app that you use, that has an option that you have enabled.

Kernel is custom i believe.
Root only apps? Yes, TB is one of them (which I uninstalled to see if that was causing the problem). ROM Manager (which I just uninstalled as well), BusyBox, SuperSU and Online Nandroid.
Rooted but stock, no custom ROM. I don't mind trying out a new ROM and kernel if that is going to solve the annoying issue

rom manager has such an option(wipe dalvik) i believe.
1. you can try to factory reset, then reboot after booted up, before installing any apps(make a nandroid backup in your recovery first, so you can restore it if needed).
2. try a different kernel. if still happening, try a different rom.
3. rom manager is one of my most hated apps

I did a couple of factory resets a few months ago when I was having camera/gallery issues. I had no apps installed (aside from those that came with the phone) and was getting the annoying "android is upgrading" message.
I've read good things about the Franco Kernel and found this site with a few options but I am not sure which one to flash. Any suggestions?
I've learned to dislike it myself and hence why I just uninstalled it a few

ok, so if its doing it, without any app installed, nor rom manager, and the rom is completely stock, then the chances are that its the kernel. btw, i highly recommend the rasbean jelly rom. its very clean, with only added mods(not everything plus the kitchen sink), and very highly praised by many. if you want a stock experience, with a few additions, rasbean is great.

Simms, I tried to download but the page it took me to comes out blank (no link, no info, nada)
EDIT: got it
Hi I am new to android. I decided to install CyanogenMod on my Indian sgy rooted and had stock rom with Touchwiz and android 2.3.6. So I got some instructions from here . Then I downloaded the file of around 120MB.I booted into recovery mode. I selected update from SD card and then selected CWM.zip I got from XDA thread. It entered the CWM and then I selected Format system, Clear cache and clear Dalvik cache. Then I selected the update from SD card and then selected the CM zip file of 120MB I had in my phone. It installed and then it showed no errors. After conformation I rebooted the phone. It showed Samsung Galaxy Y and then turned black with no Samsung logo. I thought it was doing something and then after 3 minutes I touched the screen it began to draw circles wherever I touched. I thought I bricked the phone. After two minutes I turned it off and then again got into recovery mode and then to CWM mode and got my phone back with Nandroid backup I had.
Was the phone installing and I interrupted it by touching it?
Is there any error on my installation steps?
Kindly reply me how to install this CM and tell me if you get the same and give me the link you used for installing CM
Apologies for poor english if you find any.

to use cm9 you need to install whitexp kernel else you will have the track pad which you experienced
you should also know cm9 is not stable in this device - no network wifi data etc - all it does is boot

no you will not get stock kernel back by restoring nandroid backup
to go back to stock rom/kernel you need to flash stock rom firmware via odin
This is because the kernels that support cm will format your system to ext - stock kernel does not support ext so your phone will not boot so you need to flash stock rom via odin to go back to stock
all roms including stock based cm7 and aosp are found in the dev section - read the op - full instructions are given there - if you flash a cm7 or aosp rom you will need to flash percys kernel first and reboot to recovery and format system data cache to remove mount errors
choose one that works best for you

guys you need to unmount system before you flash otherwise the updater script will fail.

I'm using it right now. No real problems noticed so far except for a couple of crashes at first boot. It's really smooth. Pure AOSP.
Yes very pure.
Strange cant get into recovery anymore

I think you need to reflash recovery when you install it, which is easy to do from fastboot.
I did that. But even then i was not able to enter recovery
very very different modem, compared it against all the five I've got here (not all the previous modems) and can't see anything like it.
