So, I've been rocking the MT4G since Dec 2010. Great phone. I've also been out of the US since June 2011 (been in Nigeria). Now, I return somewhere between next week and June. When I get back, I want a new phone.
But, I'm confused. I've read several articles only to get confused. Right now, there's three phones that look good. HTC Amaze, HTC One X, HTC One S. Now, here's where I'm confused about:
1. With the One series, are both coming to T-Mo or just the S?
2. I read that the One series will only have Edge, but then I read they will have 42Mbps 4G - what will they one run at in the US? Seriously, one article literally said Edge and one paragraph later said HSPA+. (Maybe I'm just that sleepy and can't read right now)
3. Articles kept confusing me on radios and crap. T-Mo is GSM, so if I travel outside of the country again (I will), will I be able to use the One series phones like I did with the MT4G? The MT4G gave me 4G outside the country as well.
I'm extremely disappointed that they will not have microSD slots (seriously?)
Right now, assuming T-Mo is only getting the S, I see the Amaze as still the better bang for buck for two reasons: NFID and microSD.
Please help me out and your help is appreciated. If there's typos in this post, forgive me. I'm tired and hungry as hell.
1. From what I have read, T-Mobile will be receiving both phones. I am 100% sure that the One S is coming to T-Mobile. A quick google search gave me this: CLICK
2. Both phones shall have 4G; 100% guaranteed if you buy it from T-Mobile
3. I'm quite confident that it will be GSM. Just make sure that T-Mobile unlocks the phone so it can be used internationally.

I S-Off and Root, so no worry there. Its just that they're adding all of these radio frequencies and I want to make sure it works at least as well as the MT4G does abroad. And, that link is for people in the UK. I need to know about T-Mo USA.
What do you feel about the Amaze compared to these two?

If you're looking for ROMs and stuff, the Amaze IS NOT the way to go. They haven't even achieved S-OFF I believe. Go with the X or S

check t-mobile's website. they have the HTC One S up there.
i personally don't think that the HTC One X will come to TMOUS, because AT&T has it... but hey it's all good. i heard AT&T thinks that data speed is more important than phone speed, so the American version of the One X will still be duo core like the One S... if i were going to get a HTC One X, i would get it from another country... IMHO
Want to relieve yourself from all the confusion? Go for the amaze. SD card slot, remove able battery, 8mp camera with dual led(awesome pics), 42mbps 4g( I've read some where HTC one series won't be 42mbps 4g speeds), dual core and will be getting official ics just like the one series devices.
By the way, T-Mobile will be getting the one s and att the one x. In my opinion, the one s barely has any improvements on the amaze if any besides ics which the amaze will be getting. The amaze is a beast out the box. I bought it for my girl. I love the damn thing. I for sure won't be considering the one series. Ill be purchasing the amaze soon.

You're kidding me... I'm sure they'll get it though. I recall the MT4G being a pain for devs to figure out, but they got it.

So... In that case... Should I get the phone from AT&T and use it on T-Mobile? But, again, this whole radio thing, there's a whole even more confusing thread about this issue. About the 1700 3G and Edge thing. Everyone in that thread is confused.
If I get either of these phones, be it the S or the X, I want 4G. When I got abroad again, I still want 4G.
I guess when I get back to the States, I'll be having a long talk with T-Mobile.

Dangit man, then it makes me want to wait. I can't S-Off and root the Amaze at this point. I just realized after I made my last post how long the Amaze has been out and they've yet to S-Off and root the thing.
The S not having NFID and only 16GB pretty much breaks it. So, I was hoping the X would come as well. How sure are you that we're only getting the S?
Okay, seriously, I'm going to bed. I will check this in the morning.

yeah the Amaze is a nice phone, but still sad to see that it still hasnt been S=OFF. but concerning your 4G question...I think if you buy an unlocked phone from another carrier, youll only be able to use EDGE or 3G at the most because of the different radio bands used. my contract is up in October, so I still have some time to find some better phones coming out later this year

I would personally disagree. Not only does the One Series have better hardware and software out of the box, but because of it's insane hype and the fact that it is international, it will have fast and great development for a long time (think HTC Sensation).
I thought tmobile only got the one s... I'm pretty sure about that
--sent from my glacier.
Wow there is so much wrong info in this thread! 1. The T-mobile One S will have 42mps HSPA+ on the AWS 1700/2100 bands. If the country does not support those it will fall to 2g/Edge speeds. If your mytouch 4g had 4g signal where you was at then you will get 4G on the One S from T-mobile USA since they are on the same bands. 2. Rumors say that T-mobile is getting a One X variant called the G4X with the Tegra 3 running stock ICS a sequel to Lg's G2X with the Tegra 2.
P.S. To respond to another post the Dual Core Qualcomm S4 IS NOT A DOWNGRADE from the Tegra 3 they are both very powerful.

I have my girls amaze unlocked and rooted. Running a custom recovery, rom with faux amaze custom kernel. You don't need s-off to root the amaze or flash.
Also, in the topic of s-off, a few known devs already figures s-off for the amaze. They are just finishing test before posting the how to.
I'm not 100% sure of tmo just getting the one s but it is all over the net that tmo is getting only the one s and att the one x. No matter which, I still won't be getting one.
Just a random thought from an amaze owner, if you want an amazing phone that works then go with the amaze but there's not a big dev scene at all. If you want ROMs and development and all that, go with a One series phone - I agree with the analogy to the sensation and how the One series will have tons of development for being international. The amaze really is a fantastic phone that is barely beat by the One S, except in size cuz the One S is way thin! Other than thinness, development is the only reason I would consider getting a One S or X (the permanent battery and microsd are really annoying, too).

Yeah, do I think the way to go its just to see what will happen when I get back. Maybe we'll get lucky and the rumors of us getting a variant of the X is true.
Since these come out in April, I might be waiting a while until the next Bugatti HTC comes out..
But, I do need both S-off and root.
How would a European X work on T-Mo's 4G?

I have been looking around for a new phone too but I think I am just going to keep the MT4G. The ICS Roms for it are running great and the awesome virtuous sense 4 rom is almost ready for prime time. The international One X looks pretty nice. I am not completely sold on the One S.
I wish t-mo had an htc phone that was like the Galaxy Note. Hopefully soon.

1. With the Amaze, you get a cheaper (price-wise not quality) phone than the One S/X.
2. Barely any difference in the Amaze and the One S power-wise.
3. One S does not have an SD-card slot so you're stuck with 16 GB forever on that phone. Amaze has 16 GB internal memory AND has an SD card slot that will work with 64GB microSD.
4. One S/X do not have removeable batteries, so if they go bad, you have to send the whole phone back for repair/replacement. Also can't carry extra batteries with you to switch out during a long day.
5. I've read that the ceramic cases on the One series have been chipping (poor build quality?).
6. Amaze is supported by Madmaxx's 4EXT recovery, so it can flash kernels from recovery without S-OFF (S-OFF exploit has been discovered though and will probably be released soon).
7. One S/X will have Sense 4.0, while the Amaze should have 3.6 (if you like Sense).
8. One S/X will have ICS right out of the box. Amaze should be receiving it soon.
9. The Amaze's capacitive buttons cause a light bleed on the screen (these can be turned off with root access).
In the end though, the choice is yours. I personally feel like the One S is a downgrade from the Amaze without the microSD. Also (just a small correction to something you wrote) we do have root on this phone.

Yeah, you're forgetting the fact that the One S won't have the NFID Chip. This is the whole thing I really want.
Yes, I LOVE Sense! But, really, I think I'll go with the Amaze. Unless there's speculation on the next Bugatti HTC coming to T-Mo after the One S. Because, the let's face it, when the MT4G came out, it was the Bugatti of phones at that time. The One S is more like the Lambo.

Just to give a slight rebuttal to a couple of things. I do agree the Amaze is a very nice phone. The Amaze S3 soc is very nice but he S4 is more future proof it's arguably the fastest soc out now!
The T-mo USA is only getting the blur/silver version as of now, which does not have the coating issue.
And which has already been mentioned before the One S will have vastly more custom rom development then the Amaze.

I most certainly will my G1 is on it's death bed. I love stock android and this will have and get the updates first! I can deal with the lack of features and dual core can wait because in the next 2 years something better will come out. You can never beat technology! So who else will be getting this phone?

I most likely will want another phone. Currently have the myTouch 3G slide.
I too am going to wait. I think Google/Sammy's partnership came late, and they attempted to give use a dual-core, but couldn't, and so rushed the single-core to their Nexus brand. Lack of HSPA+, especially, just seems backwards when all phones and carriers are moving toward "4G." It just doesn't make sense. I will hold off.
i'm still not 100%. i'd say i'm about 65% sure i want it right now. need to get to a best buy with a real working display model and use it for a while.
I should have mine on Wednesday of next week
Is it really that much better than the G2 or Mytouch4g to get? G2 has a keyboard SLCD, HSPA+, new gen snapdragon, and almost stock android. Mt4g also has HSPA+ and a new gen 1Ghz snapdragon.
I think the only reason to get the Nexus S would be for the Google updates. The specs really aren't mind blowing, they're high end, but nothing new.
So when it comes time to retire my trusty G1 I think I'll go with its successor the G2.
Although it is quite tempting to go with the Nexus S updates and SAMOLED are quite tantalizing.

Yes the mt4g is quite ugly. But I think the G2 has notable advantages over the Nexus S.
1. Keyboard
2. HSPA+
In all other things the Nexus S reigns supreme. That's what it's so tempting to get it. But then again coming from the G1 I do like my keyboard

I'm waiting for the end of the first quarter to get one of the big daddy's with there dual core processors. The nexus s seems very rushed in build and spec. Nothing is going to hold me back from buying this. And I m getting everything I need from the current generation phones. Will upgrade later if they (next generation phones) really have something good on the table to offer.
16GB enough for me. 720p will come, I m pretty sure. No HSPA+ in my country
LED notifications, we are not sure of it! And many other phones dont have a track pad.
Atleast I know whatever this phone has to offer will be "usable to fullest" bcos of good battery life (consider all the pitfalls of DHD) and XDA support
Overall should be a flawless phone with whatever is has to offer! If you are fine with its offering go for it. Else wait for another 3-4 months for the next generation phones

I have a G1 that is also in its last moments so i'm thinking about getting either Nexus S or MT4g.
I'm leaning more toward Nexus S because its vanilla android and will get the updates faster but also because I think that the community will embrace it more.

If u already have mt4g and use/expecting 4G in ur area. I dont see any reason why u shouldn't stick with mt4g. Its an amazing phone sans the loooks. Its ugly !! But technology > looks
I've had my Nexus One since April, and right now after seeing the new Nexus S (which is some-what disappointing in terms of upgraded hardware) I've decided it's time to move on. I'd like to sell before the Nexus S comes out since I believe the price of the Nexus One will decrease. I'm currently considering the following: G2, Nexus S, Captivate, Galaxy S i9000, and Mytouch 4G. The problem I'm having is deciding, see I would really love to have a front facing camera which would come in handy for me but, the phones that offer it don't work with AT&T 3G (except the i9000). So, I would like to get a captivate or i9000, but I'm not really fond of the i9000's design nor either's Touchwiz & Samsung's updates. I would really love a G2, since I could easily sell my Nexus and buy one with money to spare in some occasions and it's a very attractive device with great build quality (except for that hinge issue), but again, no AT&T 3G and no FFC. The Mytouch has the FFC, and is a nice phone and all but probably the ugliest thing EVER in my opinion. The Nexus S has everything I want (except for AT&T 3g) but, I would probably have to shell out $100-$200 to get it. So, what I need is advice. If you were in my situation, which would you choose? Thanks!

u will get STRESSED going back to edge. i mean its ridiculously slow coming for a 3g one
In a couple months they will be releasing some kick ass phones..wait patiently ..regardless the n1 is already depreciated
You will be trading one of the most customizables phones for some that you are not sure if it ll get the same support
IF you sign up for tmobile you buy one g2 and get 1 free (just got an email about that)

Get a Desire Z from bell canada, unlock it, and that's your G2 with AT&T 3g support.
The one I am impatiently waiting for is the Motorola Olympus for at&t. They say q1 of 2011, which is just when my warranty is running out for the n1.
the nexus one is still one of the best phones currently out there. my opinion at least. i hope to keep this phone another year before i get another itch. til then i hope my N1 doesn't get any scratches.
I'm looking at the desire Z also for the next phone. I'd like the price to come a bit first though. I haven't found it for less than 650 yet.
Wait a month 2 c whats new in 2011...
Went from a Nexus to a G2 then back to a Nexus to make some extra cash to get rid of the keyboard.
Currently I traded my Nexus for a new Mytouch 4G.
It is a very fast phone, solid build, decent camera, and its 4G, not to mention it has some nice novelties like front facing camera and a hard button for the camera and 720p recording out of the box.
Alot of people complain about the UI but i havent seen much slowdown or problems with it. It's a pleasure to use and i have yet to remove the battery bc it froze.
I went from a Galaxy S to the N1.
The screen is definitely a BIG step up from the N1, both in responsiveness and quality.
The phone itself though, frustrating. Good hardware potentially but crippled by bad implementation. Out of the box they are laggy and unstable. The GPS is basically useless for anything other than telling you where you are at that point. Start moving about, and its gone. Then its the going into a coma for no apparent reason.
The N1 is probably just about a more dependable device. Not sure I'd go for the SGS over an N1.
I would try to get a dual core phone with vanilla android. So I recommend that you wait.
my advice is it sucks but you have to just wait for an ATT 3G version to come out. just wait for a nexus S with att 3g is your only choice. the nexus one is still awesome enough to ride it out for a bit longer.

Well, see im stuck in a dilemma. I can either a. sell my nexus one on eBay right now for $450 (offer I just got) and add $for a Nexus S OR b. wait it out. The only thing i'm afraid of is that the nexus's value goes down and when NS comes out everyones gonna be selling and their gonna be a dime a dozen....
SO, what do you guys think I should do? I have until tomorrow to decide to sell...
Personal finances are different for everyone. If U need the bread now for an upgrade, then sell at the best price.
I say wait it out. The Nexus one is going to get Gingerbread soon and the value wont depreciate as fast as you're afraid it will. In a couple of months it will be on a very small list of phones running Gingerbread and people will be willing to pay top dollar for it.
I'm in the same boat. I can upgrade right now but there's nothing on AT&T compelling enough to make me switch. Hopefully CES will give me something to look forward to. That LG Star is actually looking surprisingly good, as is the Olympus, and I definitely want Tegra2 on my next phone.

I just picked up a mt4g at the upgrade cost from t-mobile. I'm coming from a nexus one. I'm really on the fence, If I should just give it back and wait for a newer phone to use my upgrade credit. It just doesn't feel like a huge upgrade from my N1. I'm thinking I would like a 4+" screen too. I wish I had a date when the pyramid was available.
Should I keep my N1 a couple more months or move to the mt4g?

My wife has the mt4g, which is why I'm in here. It's a great phone, but I agree that it doesn't seem much better than the Nexus. If even say it's just different, in good and bad ways, and not necessarily better (probably the wrong place to say that?). I'm possibly just attached to my Nexus?
Anyway, you could wait forever for the next phone, and there's always the latest rumors - but the Pyramid does sound nice (first time I've even thought about switching).
There's certainly a lot worse than the mt4g!

Didn't hear back from any actual mt4g owners.
I slept on it, and i'm going to be returning the phone to t-mobile today. It's nice enough phone and I give it props. Even with all the bloat crap on it, it did feel faster than my N1. I just wasn't blown away. I think it just goes to show how good the N1 was when it came out. I never dreamt that I would be happy with a single phone for more than a year.
Patience is not one of my virtues. I really hope T-mobile gets dual-core and big screen soon.
I was in a similar boat about a month ago. I was forced into getting a new phone though, as my Mytouch 3g finally fell the wrong way and the screen got smashed to bits. Was between the MT4G and the Nexus S, decided to go with the 4G for FFC, HSPCA+, and more RAM. Plus I like Sense and the sturdy body of the 4G. Like someone else alluded to, there will ALWAYS be the next cool thing just a month or 2 away, so you're never really future-proof with a new phone in that sense.
As for advising you on the phone itself, all I can say is that I think the MT4G is the best android (certainly the best TMO android) phone on the market right now. It's got extra RAM, good features, HSPA+. But if you're happy with the N1 for the next ? months, then wait it out. I just didn't have that option, and am very happy with the 4G.
Oh and one more thing regarding your last post - I'm sure it's a personal preference, but the screen size on the 4G is perfect for my tastes. It's big enough (little bit bigger than iphone) but still comfortable to hold and put in your pocket. The 4"+ screen sizes are great for media and web browsing, but were too big for me to really be comfortable with (again just personal opinion). I like to be able to just slip my phone in my jeans pocket.
i would wait for a few months for a newer phone.mt4g is great, but the newer hardware will be better.

former nexus one owner for over a year...then all hell broke loose.
N1 traded for iphone 4 32gb (Stragiht trade)
iphone 4 32gb traded for iphone 4 16gb plus $200
iphone 4 16gb sold for $500
purchased vibrant $160
purchased mytouch 4g $275
Sold vibrant $260
traded mytouch 4g plus $50 for nexus s
traded nexus s for mytouch 4g plus $200 (bad screen)....
Currently with the mytouch 4g, its a solid device! I really like it but its just bland to me, not much development for it. I loved the nexus one , trackball wake, and alert colors were very nice. Screen is still pretty good compared to some new models. I would recommend just keeping the nexus one till a new phone comes out. Heck I may sell the mytouch 4g for $300 today, and buy a vibrant for $150.
Neuxs one still has solid development of roms, which I still wonder into that area to look over whats going on. Mytouch 4g well it does have 4g services, and front facing camera....thats really the only differences that stand out. Heck I dont use the FFC nor can I use 4g since I'm unlocked on a local carrier, although I did hit 7.04 mbps today, highest to date.
Stay with the nexus one, itll still hold its value and its holding up well vs current phones
That's some damn nice horse trading you've done. I would trade my N1 for an Iphone 4 32gb in a minute. (if only to sell it and buy another N1 back for half the cash i got for the iphone!)

Are you reading the same forum I am????? Not much in Development for it???? Are you serious? Tons of work on multiple kernels, TONS of ROMs. So many themes and icons I can't even keep up.......I dunno where you get that its bland....Root the phone and go CM7 and get rid of the bloat and tell me the phone is bland.....
Sorry just find it weird that you think its a plain jane phone yet theres a plethora
of stuff to mod it with and make it your own....
The mt4g has a pretty solid development base, but it's relatively small compared to the N1... CM7 is cool, and probably the only unique ROM out there.
The development on the N1 is huge, which is why I'd struggle switching from it...
MT4G is a cool phone, but it's nothing ground breaking.

Yes I am reading the same forum, mytouch 4g ? Yes there isn't much development, phone has been rooted since day 1, on cm7....phone is bland. Nexus one there was just that much more development, mytouch 4g development base is small compared to the nexus one
I've seen, held, and used the Nexus One for over a week and I'd still choose the MT4G. Sure there might be more ROMs but you can't beat the fact that the MT4G has the better hardware still and more RAM.
Now for anyone with a G1 or MT3G its a no brainer the MT4G is better than the N1
As far as going from N1 to MT4G I would save your upgrade for a Dual Core.

Yes mytouch 4g does have the better hardware, being unlocked I'm not fully utilizing the device, hence I still prefer the nexus one. Both htc devices are solid, cant go wrong with either one
agreed. if you are looking for a major upgrade the MT4G is perfect and will hold its ground for a long time. But the leap in power and quality from the N1 to MT4G just isn't worth it.
But to say the MT4G community and features is bland is false. Sure its been rooted since day one but so was the N1. It allowed you to root it without hacking it. So its been customized for far longer than the MT4G has even been out. It will take off soon enough.

You cannot compare MT4G to Nexus One, that was the first google phone, now a days new phone comes out every couple of months people will buy what they like. Look at the Nexus S all the development have scattered to other models, G2, Z, HD, etc... all they have is GB and kernel, so many different versions its still GB And CM7 Lmao... MT4G has alot going for it that's why you came back

Hello,
I'm thinking to change my cellphone. I'm find two goods alternative the HTC Incredible and the HTC Nexus One. Both have the same characteristics and I don't know which of them to choose.
What do you think about it? What would you recommend it?
One important issue for me is that both can be rooted and can install ROMs.
Thank you.
Hello cabrerachaparro,
Well IMO, being an Incredible owner, I say you can't go wrong with the Dinc. It is by far the first phone that has lived up to the hype and its name Incredible. I have yet to find one thing the phone can't do. It is not extremely difficult to root and flash ROM's as long as you read everything 3 times before doing anything. The list of ROM's out there by some amazing Dev's is huge. Some may bash the battery life but with proper adjustments I get great battery life for the most part. However I've only had the Dinc so I am biased but even with discount incentives to upgrade I find it hard to leave it until something leaps and bounds comes out.
They are essentially the same thing minus the droid incs 8gb emmc storage. Id pick the inc cause of the 8 free gb and its on verizon. And its a tough as$ phone. I've dropped mine at least 25 times, no case and not a scratch.
Youre looking at a crackflashing troll with ORD
They're more or less the same phone (A minor difference someone else mentioned is the 8GB internal memory) so it pretty much comes down to carrier:
If you're on Verizon, go with the Incredible
If you're not on Verizon and wan't to get on Verizon, go with the Incredible AND DO IT NOW! before unlimited data ends in 2 days.
If you're on some other carrier, go with the Nexus One.
(Sense is probably a consideration... but carrier is the most important)
The Nexus One also has a 5MP camera, vs. our 8MP camera. Just nit picking lol.
I was going to get the Nexus One when it was announced for VZW. I was completely sold on it, but then they said it wouldn't actually be going to go to VZW but, they suggested checking out the Droid Incredible and here I am today a year and 3 months later lol.
As other people said, it mostly depends on what carrier you want to stick with.
Sent from my Droid Incredible running a random CM7 nightly.
I didn't realize that the Incredible works with CDMA and in my country the carriers only work with GSM
So I think I will have to choose the Nexus One.

i'd wait for the next LG Nexus that will come out by the end of this year with quad core and 4g lte
I know your getting the nexus one as you stated it works where your at, but I owned a nexus one and I got say the incredible takes it out. The screen on my incredible is way better than my nexus one. The black on my N1 was faded and the white was a light brown. I don't know which screen it was as there are two different screens. Seems like the inc has more internal memory too. I haven't had to transfer apps to the sdcard.

Those are just rumors about the new nexus, it hasn't been announced yet so no real details are known.

Both the N1 and Incredible use the same screens. They are either AMOLED or SLCD. I have 2 AMOLED N1s and the screen looks identical to my wife's AMOLED Inc. The Inc w/Hardware version 0002 is AMOLED, hardware version 0003 is SLCD. I have 2nd phone that is an SLCD Inc and its screen looks much better than AMOLED, IMO.
Yeah, the Inc has more internal memory, something like 1GB I think? N1 only has 512MB. Inc also has an additional 8GB emmc which can be reconfigured to work as SD for putting apps on it as well.
The 5MP camera on the N1 actually takes better looking pics than the Inc.
The Inc has a better touchscreen that actually registers multitouch correctly. N1 has the multitouch "bug".
The Inc is also sealed better, no dust gets in the screen like the N1.
IMO, the Inc also looks nicer.
N1 has better battery life and I also like the multicolor indicator ball.
Although I guess it's a moot comparison because OP can't use the Inc. If they made a GSM Inc, I would definitely choose it over the N1.
Yes, sadly the Inc only works for CDMA and my carrier works with GSM so it seems I will choose the N1. I don't if there is another GSM Android with the same specifications and of course similar price

You'll need to be rooted to change the file though.
My DInc didn't come with a MicroSD card and I didn't have any other use for the emmc so I was real happy I was able to get that to work. Your emmc will become /sdcard and the SD card will become /emmc.
Hmmm that is a bit of a compromise. I have a decent sized card but I would love to free up that space by moving apps back to emmc.
If your SD card is mapped to /emmc, I think the phone would still see any media you put on it. I think the main difference with mounting the SD card under /emmc and emmc under /sdcard is you can then install apps to the emmc. Oh, and I noticed the HTC Notes app won't recognize the switcheroo.

You could go get the Droid Incredible and go to "Las Malvinas" by BreƱa in Peru and get the people there to unlock the phone for you for a very small fee lol. When my folks go there to see relatives, they bring their Verizon phones and they work. Also a cousin of mine was able to get an unlocked Verizon phone to work in Peru as well even-though Peru seems to only have a GSM cell structure (Claro and Movistar). The HTC Incredible has only dual bands for CDMA so it might be impossible to pull it off. Have you considered getting the HTC Incredible 2? It has GSM and CDMA combos for better World coverage. The N1 sounds good too.
Incredible the best
I'm thinking of getting the HTC One S when tmobile starts to sell it this month. It looks like a great phone and has all the features I want. Was wondering if anyone else is thinking of getting it.
Its nothing compared to the one s though. Better of waiting for the s3 since you'll be using it for two years.
There's nothing wrong with my vib oozing iced butter and bacon right now.I recommend waiting 4 more months and get the G3 or if tmo could get the htc one X that would be a consideration

I beleive that the X is going to at&t while tmobile gets the S...either way im getting one
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
i'll probably get one. benchmarks show the S4 dualcore outdoes the T3 quadcore chip. no need to wait around for a One X. By that time, the SGS3 should be out.
I'm actually still waiting for a device for tmobile with a true hd display.. similar to that of the current galaxy nexus. From what I understand the oneX has one but I'm not aware of any plans for it coming over to tmobile. Also personally, I'm not a fan of how the camera protrudes out the back of many htc phones.
Even though I'm quite satisfied with my vibrant running ics passion (occasional gps issues aside).. I've started to notice the lack of power while browsing and the occasional lags more and more. I used my friends galaxyS2 (att) the other day and was blown away at the speed and was left wanting more out of my phone.
I get a sense that tmobile is really dragging their heels in getting better devices. If I didn't have a serious dislike of being on mobile contracts I probably would have jumped ship already. I can live without true 4g.. fake 4g (hspa+) seems plenty fast to me... even my 3g vibrant is probably good enough for what I use the phone for.
I don't know.. just babbling...
and hoping tmobile steps up their game and offers some nicer devices.
All I want is a phone with a 4.7 HD screen, removable batt and micro sd, seems to be hard to find...nothing around the corner, still on the vibrant, nothing in sight so far...Sprint's EVO One (ONE X sprint style) looks great, but it's sprint and their data speeds are crap and no one has them so you use up anytime minutes quick...
There's a few phones I keep seeing, like LG and couple of others, but for some reason the US can't get **** for phones, like the rest of the world does, or if they do it's on att or verizon, and no, I don't want to pay 150/month for my cell phone..
I want a phone with about a 4.3" screen, flash on the camera, removable battery, and Micro SD. Preferably with that new S4 snapdragon... that things appears to be a beast. But I'm looking for a phone that devs are going to get behind. After having been in the Vibrant community, it'd be really hard to live with a phone that didn't have good dev support. I would honestly be really happy with my wife's HTC Amaze 4g if the dev support was more like the Vibrant. That phone is a beast and I can only imagine how smooth it would run with a good rom like CM9 on it. (but it's my wife's so it's staying stock LOL)
The non-removable battery and no Micro SD is a deal breaker for me. I'm also surprised to see only 16Gb of internal storage in any new phone, especially this one.
I need a phone that blows my socks off the same way my Vibrant did after it was rooted and customized. If there are any regrets I'll be seriously disappointed.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA
I just want a phone whose GPS works reliably and a good DAC. I mainly use my phone for those two things. I was hoping HTC would've nailed a good DAC (as I'm aware that HTC has the best GPS rigs), but it just wasn't meant to be.
I am going to wait for a better phone. The One S just doesn't do it for me. Sure its probably better than the vibrant but if I'm going to extend my contract, which has been up for about 8 months, I'm going to need a phone that I will be happy with for the next two years. When the next generation of phones which are almost here are offering far superior specs and capabilities, it makes no sense to upgrade to a mildly better phone. T-Mobile should see that and not insult us with "little brother" phones. If I'm paying for it, plus two years on contract, I want my moneys worth. I'm a big boy and I like big boy toys.
I would have loved to get the One S, but would never consider buying a phone with only 16GB and no microSD. I can't tell you how much I want to avoid buying anything from Samsung ever again due to anger over the Vibrant GPS problems and lack of update and other support.
