Hi,
I'm using a Wildfire with CyanogenMod v7.1.0.1. When I changed to a 16G sd-card recently I began to think about the various app-to-sd methods and put an additional EXT partition on the card "just in case".
Just one question: How does my sd-card performance compare to internal flash speed? How can I find out? "SD-Tools" benches my card at 6 MB/s write, 25 MB/s read. What's the speed of the internal flash?
Regards
edit: second question reg. app2sd-method removed (found the right one for me myself in the meantime)
intenal flash faster than mem card i think so!
Try S2E app from market

Hi everybody,
I have a problem with my sd card.
I have a 4Gb transcend 150x card in my G4 prophet (s200) and reading is so slow.
Here i post a benchmark done by sktools:
Storage Card (write) : 31.75 Kb/sec
Storage Card (read) : 798.18 Kb/sec
I think reading time is so slow.
I have spanish qtek rom 2.20 and test was done using sktools 3.1.1
I have formated the sd in fat32 using computer sd card reader, but nothing goes better.
Any ideas on how to fix it?
Thanks in advance.
umm this is just a thought but have you checked the partition?
thats usually the end of most problems regarding SD cards.
What do you mean whith checking the partition?
I have formated the card twice one with panasonic formater
Best.
no check and rebuild the partition, formatting wont do much if the partition is corupted.
get something called Partition manager you can get a demo version that will do it. use your card reader and delete the active partition (remember to get your info off it first) then reinstall the partition format and mount the card.
see if that helps
Thanks very much, it seems that partition is ok and i also tried another memory card with the same results.
Could you please do the same test and tell me your results, rom version and memory brand and size.
Best.
Last night i received an error stating my SD needed to be reformatted after playing around with a couple of ROMS.
After a fresh format i get around 2.67 - 3.00 MB/s writing a 1gig video file to the default 16 gig SD card.
Does that sound about right?
I am just wondering if perhaps i formated my SD card the wrong way or what is the best way to format it for use with the EPIC?
More than likely it's a class 2

can someone please help me?
I have tried many builds and they are all unusable for me when they are using SD partition.
Disabling it makes it usable again but no user space!
I have tried CW method of partitionig and GParted but always same result
My SD is Class 2, don't know if that is problem... tried many times to format it... tried many NAND ROMs.
Please help!!!
Brand, size of your sd card?
What format? Windows?
File system used in ext partition of sdcard?
Try a HDD benchmark test on your SD card. If sustained write is less than 2mb/s, then you want to use SD Card Formatter 3 with ERASE FULL (ON) and RESIZE (ON), if still slow, time to buy a proper sd card.
i noticed it by myself. got a 16 GB class 2 SDcard and since NAND-roms its really messy, changing the screens by sliding (stuttering - and gets worse the more apps are on it), loading apps are much slower than with SD-roms.
i ordered a 8 GB class 6 SDcard last friday, hope to get it tomorrow. will check it out with a fresh format and install asap. will come back and post my experience.
It's Kingston Class2 16gb.
First partition is FAT32 15gb, and second is 1gb EXT3 (also tried with EXT2 & EXT4).
It's strange but I remember that SD builds were much generaly faster (thats not the case when I turn off this partition).
Here are results:
Read 10.130 MB/s
Write 2.163 MB/s
I think they are good for Class2.
Any opinion is welcome!
Eww.. Kingston MicroSD.
You're right, their speed scores are pretty good. Stuttering is usually caused by slow reads, writes don't cause stuttering, except mainly when installing apps. Your card isn't corrupted, because the speeds are exactly on spec.
Well, the first few days of using ext partition on SD card for A2SD+ is going to be slow, till everything is written on the SD card, then it speeds up considerably. I recommend, try using it for 2 days, and see if you can't stand it.
SD builds already have everything in the SD card, including data.img where userdata is stored. However, with A2SD+, everything is in the NAND, but the application will move to SD Card ext3 partition, at the same time the Dalvik is also being moved there too. So yah, it can be slow, until everything is done scooting over.
Hi i have Elelinux-7.1.0-RC1-Hero-v3.1 Android 2.3.5 and my sd card is now very slow,i can't copy big files abt 700 mb how to improve speed tnx?
Buy a Class 4 or above SD Card.
buy a high-speed sd card
You can try an SD Booster App (https:**market.android.com/details?id=de.mehrmann.sdbooster&feature=search_result <- sorry I´m a newby) they increase the cache size of your device, which CAN speed up your card..

Click to collapse
There's a .Zip file that you can install via recovery mode hosted on the Elelinux 3.2 forum page simply referred to as "SD card tweak"
This supposedly increases your SD cards transfer speed, But my card is a class 4, I've had no real problems with it anyhow.
Hi guys.
When I'm trying to check my read/write speeds, SD Tools gives me information about error writing buffer.
I own S4 i9505 16GB version with external 8 GB memory card.
I have changed cache size for both to 1024 kb using SD Booster
I can easily take pictures, copy things and do other stuff without any problem with memory cards.
AnTuTu Benchmark couldn't go over testing i/o performance.
What could be the problem?
