kernel cwm code locking - exists? - Galaxy S I9000 General

hi there ,
I just thought about it and if someone steals my phone , although if I use lock screen he won't be able (probably) to gain access to my contacts and SMS and use my phone as is , but he'll be able to just access the cwm and wipe the phone and then just use it regularly.
my question is: is there an option to code protect the cwm?
Thank you

[Q] Securing Nexus 4

Is there any way to secure android like ios7. In case if i loose my phone then no one can use it. Is it true a hard reset will remove my pattern or password? My phone is non rooted. Can someone install custom recovery too?

There is not fool poof way to prevent this. Even on IOS7 the security can be gotten around. Best advice is to make sure you are backing up your files.
Google does have a remote wipe option built into the Android OS. That is your best bet.
There is no full proof way to make render unusable, but you can call up your carrier and ask them to blacklist the IMEI so they can't use sim cards with it anymore.
You could however, protect your data. Do this by: encrypt your device, stock recovery, disable USB debugging, lock the bootloader. At least with this, if the device is stolen, if they don't know how to flash factory image, they'll need to enter the encrypted password to boot into the phone and can't copy over your datas.
You should also look up the app Cerberus, which with root can survive through factory reset (as long as they don't overwrite or format the "system" partition).

Locked out of VZW GS4....

My Galaxy S4 decided to password protect itself... no idea why. I usually use the Lock Screen pattern, when I screw that up enough it prompts me for a PIN. I guess that's what happened, but after I got in after doing entering the PIN, I didn't reset my PIN or pattern, so now it's asking me for a password to get into the phone.
I've tried using Android Device Manager to send the phone a new password... it doesn't work. When I send an integer only password the phone prompts for a PIN, but it doesn't accept the PIN I send, and when I send it a alpha-numeric password, it prompts for a password, but doesn't accept that either. Clearly the phone is acknowledging the receipt of new protocol.... but it's not adhering to the new directions.
Anyone know how get around this? Or another method that doesn't require me destroying all of my data? Or a way for me to retrieve my data without having to manually select "Use as Media Device" (can't do this since I can't access the drop down menu).
Well, if you're rooted you can mount to your computer via the recovery.
You can also try a dirty flash. Will not destroy your data but it may cause bugs and other problems.
Maybe you got some kind of virus.

Not rooted, do I have to be rooted for a dirty flash?
You have to be rooted to install any kind of custom rom.
I think samsung kies has a backup feature. But I may also backup the password.

[Q] Please Help ! ! Enable USB Debugging From Pin / Pattern Lock Screen

Fellow XDA buddies...please help me on this one!
My colleague is locked out of his Galaxy S4 running Lollipop that has a pin / password lock that he inadvertently set and doesn't know what it was set to
We've Tried:
- Android Device Manager: After getting on the phone with a Samsung Mobile Tech and having them conference in a Google Tech... getting out of a pin lock screen is no longer compatible with ADM on Lollipop as it doesn't display the password input without first unlocking the phone via pin ...
- Samsung Find My Mobile: He never setup the Samsung Account/App on his phone before the forgotten pin issue ...
- Lollipop doesn't seem to have any vulnerabilities / workarounds to get past the lock screen when pin locked ...
- I have tried to use the Stock Recovery to apply the files suggested here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2308130 and here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/general/bypass-t3035553 and cann't get past the Signature Verification ...
- USB Debugging was never enabled so the adb exploits I found that involve SQLite or removing the key file do not work ...
- I have exhausted all the methods here because it doesn't have have root access or a custom recovery installed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2620456
So without USB Debugging, Root or a Custom Recover (which requires root it seems), we are stuck!
I think the best bet would be to enable USB Debugging somehow while locked or from an upload we can make through the Stock Recovery or ODIN...
We would greatly appreciate if anyone can help!
Thank you,
-Chris
Usually the only option is a reset from recovery. Which will erase all user data. Pics, files... Etc.
That's the point of the pin lock... To protect your privacy mostly.
I have not heard of any other way to bypass the pin lock. Well, flashing firmware again works on most devices, but same result. All user data gone.
Flashing a new ROM through Odin I don't believe will work. If I recall correctly Odin doesn't wipe data when installing. Therefore, the only real option is a factory reset if you don't wish to root or install a custom recovery.
The only thing that you can save is files stored on the internal storage.
Apps, sms, contacts etc are gone. That is if you didn't make any backups.
If you want to save the files on your internal storage:
- Flash custom recovery (twrp)
- Wipe /system partition.
- Reflash a rom.

Pattern/Pin

Hey guys
Im in a bit of a trouble.
Sitting in front of my dads phone trying to unlock it.
Cant ask my dad anymore. He died few days ago. To get access to his password safe i really need to unlock the phone. He stored all of his onlinebanking accounts, insurance data and stuff there. Need to pays all his debts but i have no clue about what to pay and what is paid.
Already found his secret note about the master password of keepass but not the unlock pattern.
Factory reset is of course not an option.
Any chance that i can skip the pattern and unlock it with the PIN?
Its also still connected to his google account if this would help.
Bootloader locked, no root, no twrp.
Found a thread from 2013 that says i can boot to twrp without flashing to delete the pin data but im not sure if it works on this one.
Can you access your dad Google account from a computer? if so, you can use Google Device Manager to remove the PIN/password of the device, but I'm not sure if doing this will erase the data. Also, you should contact Google for a solution, considering that isn't unauthorized access, and have a good reason behind. There is a form to contact them. Sorry for your loss.
Hi,
Thank you for your condolences.
I tried to lock the phone but it wont let me change the password.
There is a message. You already have a screenlock on the phone so it wont be changed.
The link you gave me also only let me get access to the account but not the phone.
Any other ideas how to get access?

screen lock was already changed try again with the new screen lock

I used the original zui11.5 rom only because of the "position travel" app (I must be the only person in the world who used this, but had a reason) and to receive updates from the manufacturer. but I saw that the custom roms were well evolved and I decided to test
after unlocking the bootloader the android bootloader it brick and didn't start anymore, still managed to install twrp, however whenever i install a new rom, at the end of the process i need to mount the folders manually before restarting (so far without problems).
however when I try to enter a security password the following message appears: "screen lock was already changed try again with the new screen lock"
I've done everything including installing the original rom 11.5.381 by twrp but I still can't put the password
with the bootloader unlocked qpst also does not install any rom
I thought of installing some version of zui with android 9 to try to solve, but I didn't find any that install by twrp
has anyone had this problem and knows how to fix it?
Has anyone been able to figure out a way to use the screen lock again? I've been using no screen lock all this time, and now it's starting to affect me as some banking apps force me to use some screen lock
I currently use rom bliss but I can change it to whatever the blocking works
