Re-Stocking Nexus S 4G for OTA Update - Nexus S General

Hi, I have a rooted Nexus S 4G with the stock rom but a different kernel and CWM recovery. I have received the OTA update for ICS but can't install it. I was wondering what I can do to go back to stock kernel and stock recovery to install the OTA update so I don't have to wipe all my data and worry about that.
Is it possible? Where are the stock kernel files and how do I do the recovery?
Thanks.

Nooooooooooooo

Could you please provide a working link?

Download these files:
2.3.5 Full ROM
2.3.7 Incremental Update.
4.0.4 Incremental Update (If you already got the update notification, you can copy this from /cache to the sdcard.)
Superuser.
Recovery Saver.
Flash the zips in this order:
504d...
2e8d...
TAMkDR3z
Superuser
Leave_the_twrp_alone
This will not work in twrp recovery 2.1. Use twrp 2.0 or earlier, or clockworkmod.
Protip: Some root apps requireBusyBox.

Someone can help me with the correct procedure please?
I also have the issue that myzine.apk is missing during the update in cwm although i'm sure it is there. Any ideas how to solve?

[Q] Unroot without full wiping

I recently realized that I use no root requiring apps or custom ROMs on my Nexus 7(while I keep my phone rooted for many a reason). Now that I hear the 4.4 update is being pushed, it occurs to me that all keeping a custom recovery and root on my tablet does is complicate updates. So I want to unroot, return my recovery to the stock, and get myself all ready to wait for the update to push out. What would be the best way to do this that does not require me to lose data/game saves/have to reset everything up?
Fastboot flash the stock recovery and don't worry about su because the ota will take care of that.

I am sure this has been answered somewhere and I did search the forum before posting but right now i am pretty excited about 4.4 and would like the experts to answer this regarding grouper :-
I got the 4.3 update OTA on a rooted 4.2. I later rooted the 4.3 but did not remove any default apps. I also have frano kernel installed and TWRP recovery. Does the kernel and custom recovery affect the OTA process? Am i safe for 4.4 OTA? or shall i unroot, install stock kernel and also stock recovery?
Thanks
You should be fine if you install the stock recovery before the OTA arrives

Open the SuperSU app on your device.. Go to the app settings and select the option to unroot/clean up.. Reboot. That is all.

Yes, you'll want the stock kernel and stock recovery installed.
On grouper, it can update independent of changes you have made to the system and recovery. This isn't true for all other nexus devices, for example, mako. Doing the 4.4 update will get rid of root for you, but it will flash fine even if you have a custom recovery. You may need to flash stock recovery manually if you don't want custom recovery anymore.

In the past, that has failed for me. I'm still one update behind on 4.3 because it would not install and I was too lazy previously to unroot and get it to install.

Update 4.4 to 4.4.2

I just received the OTA update of 4.4.2 so I wanted to know what exactly I have to do to update without any errors. I'm Rooted on Stock 4.4 with unlocked Bootloader and Custom Recovery TWRP and also I have the LTE hack enabled. Do I just fastboot flash stock recovery and let it update through OTA or do I have to push the original build.prop from 4.4 too because of the LTE hack? I really don't want to factory reset because I had to do that before in order to update from 4.3 to 4.4. Thanks in advance guys.

I literally just flashed from 4.4 to 4.4.2 by flashing the entire factory image. I didn't lose any data. Same boat as you, rooted and using TWRP with LTE hack.

Downloaded the 435mb OCCAM KOT49H factory image from google? Then you put the entire .zip on the sdcard and flash it through twrp? Is that it?
I'm rooted and have twrp also, but i don't know if i can just flash the full factory image. I want to be stock and rooted!
Thank you!
EDIT: Sorry, i have found the solution in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145848
I didn't know you could download these files and use them as "manual OTA update"..
Thanks again

[ROMS] [STOCK] 100% stock no root ota 2.4, 2.4.1, 2.5, & 3.0

Hi Guys just wanted to get this out there I have pulled the system files from ota update 2.3 and 2.4 and made them into a Rom.zip that you can flash in CWM recovery
if on KitKat 2.3 and you want to update to KitKat 2.4 ota then just flash the 2.4 rom zip and dont wipe data just cache and reboot. this should update you to 2.4 ota with out loosing your data and apps.
install instructions
boot to CWM or TWRP recovery
Wipe data factory reset
install rom (make sure it is on internal sd card) or external with TWRP also works
reboot and enjoy
Stock Kitkat 2.3 ota rom
Stock Kitkat 2.4 ota rom
Stock Kitkat 2.4.1 ota rom
Stock Kitkat 2.5 ota rom
Stock Lollipop 3.0 ota rom
WIll try and keep this up to date as updates come out.
Nice on there tom, its a good idea. Not sure why the OTA's some times lose the userdata when its just a update to a current branch.

4.4.4
Moto G (gen 1) (Consumer Cellular) just updated 4.4.4
Thanks pal, changelog?
I just got the update. I think Motorola is getting ready to update their Moto devices to Lollipop.
Im on CWM
Is it weird that I got the notification for the 4.4.4 update even though I use CWM instead of the stock recovery?
When I got the 4.4.3 update, I installed it via the OTA and didn't change from CWM to stock recovery. Nothing seemed wrong. But from what I understood you shouldn't be able to get OTA updates if you have a custom recovery?
I'm on Philz recovery. Unfortunately can't install the OTA. While installing error appears saying that there is a problem with verification Exchange2.apk...
Does this work with cwm? I tried with twrp but no luck and for some reason I can't fastboot stock recovery

I've got Philz Recovery and I can update with the update zip.
My system partition was unmodified (The Exchange error like it happens to Legomina was caused by a system modification).
Have a rooted device with xposed. OTA does not apply either with stock recovery or philz. Does anyone have a full SBF instead (I hate OTAs anyway, they never quite work for me)?
When the full firmware image is available, it will be announced here:

Thanks for this! Updated using this. My falcon was rooted using Superboot. So the recovery was stock. I was using xposed modules. I followed these steps:
1. Downloaded the file in OP
2. Copied it to sdcard
3. Booted to recovery
4. Selected install update from sdcard and then selected the update zip
5. Done! :good:
It took around 5 minutes for all this process. Thanks a lot @tony_evl :highfive:

x1032, Amazon, Global version
I just bought my x1032 Moto G from Amazon. The global GSM (international) version. I learned how to and I unlocked bootloader, flahsed TWRP 2.8.1.0 as my recovery and rooted yesterday!
Currently running 4.4.3. What do I need to do to install 4.4.4?
