Hi frnds,
I am from India and I came across a dvp and loved the screen and the keyboard. Its available for:
Rs 13,500, 8 gb, imported so no warranty
Rs 15,500 16gb, with 1 yr Dell India warranty.
At these prices, this is the only phone with a 4.1 inch amoled screen. Also, I liked the OS.
Kindly suggest, is it a good buy. Should I go in for one???
Are there any other major issues other than Camera??
(I read somewhere that the wifi hanging issue is resolved after the mango update. Is it true???)
Kindly Suggest???

I have no issues with the WIFI, if I was you I would get the 16gb with warranty just in case you get a defective device. I did the mistake of getting a 8gb and changing the memory card to a 16gb (voiding the warranty) now I have dust under the screen and I cant exchange it.
The DVP is end of life, you probably won't get good support if anything goes wrong or any more updates. Not such a good buy as it was a year ago.

Just read Chinavasion news.
There is a device called myPad which looks very much as the X7500.
http://www.chinavasion.com/product_...-windows-smartphone-with-5-inch-touch-screen/
No keyboard though and lack of 8/16GB HDD.
I thing GPS is also missing.
Same processor, memory, screensize and camera.
Would be very nice if we can flash this cheap myPad with WM6.5!
Hi there, the O/S could be WM6.1 CHINESE VERSION!!!
Any idea if this is actually a X7500? I would like to get one of these and put Android on it.

My experience with ChinaVasion Support is that they are quick and pretty complete. Info they don't have they seem to cannot find.
I myself have no hardware programming of Android.
And "Cross posting" is not allowed here I think?
The processor, ROM, RAM, GSEN and wifi looks the same to me and things like GPS are extra chips on the mainboard so if Android will be build for X7500 I am pretty sure it will work on the Chinese myPad too.
Maybe someone with the right knowledge can mail Kayode Enunekwu who bought one (see below at link).
If you use iPhoneToday you can pretty much setup your x7500 to copy an ipad's home screen OS look and even use the same background image as the ipad. It works really well with the Advantage-- autorotates, displays icons bubbles with counts, etc
still the android port is what I am waiting for
Hi there, has any forum members bought and using this device myPad,would like
to hear some first hand experience
I'm having a hard time trying to buy one on Chinavasion.
Paypal is refusing my current credit card, then I've tried add a new one, but Paypal give me a invalid zip code error. I'm not confident enough to try bank transfer.
A huge 5'' touchscreen plus Wi-Fi for only 310?
I must not miss this chance.
Sorry for my poor English.

Strange, have you contacted Paypal about it?
I have bought a couple of phones and a car stereo in a few years from them and never had any problem with my creditcard and delivery.
I am no wholesaler or shop myself so could just have been lucky.
I would never buy with bank transfer indeed. No insurance whatsoever that you get the product or the money back.
I just ordered one.. the chinavision model is last years model.. the manufacturer is actually a company called QIGI (qwee-gee..) and the model number is the u1000 smartbook.. I ordered the newer model U2000 which comes with WM6.5.. should be here by next week..

Looks like both versions have GPS. What's more interesting is the older version supports the 850 band but the newer one doesn't. I see one BIG problem with both versions - they only support EDGE, no 3G! I would buy one today if it had 3G. No 3G (or 4G), no sale...
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=2328&view=1&c=qigi_smartbook_u2000
Just saw that the Athena is also called "Dopod U1000".
That makes the name "QiGi Smartbook U1000" even more copycat.
Would be bad indeed if there is no support for UMTS/HSDPA!
CSD is for Chinese market, right?
There is a "C-Motech Mangrove" with whopping 7" screen.

Cannot find an international shop yet. Any tips?
Hee Hee!! I ordered one and mine will be here tommorrow!! I ordered the u2000 which is the current one with wm6.5.. I dont care about 3g support because there actually isnt that many 3g towers where I live so I use edge anyway.. I'll let ya know when its here!
@vinski208
May I ask where you have orderred your u2000? I have search the net but only got news about the u2000, no shops to order!

Hi vinski208
would also like to know where you order your unit, understand that there is a new

Hi all,
I couldn't resist and bought one off ebay..arrived today and it looks pretty sturdy for a china made device.
Problem is I've been trying to charge it for the last 3 hours and it doesn't seem to wanna charge..
I'll leave this charging overnight and if it doesn't charge in the morning, I'll have to return this for a replacement..quite annoying!
ROM U1000

bad battery
Hi guys! I also bought and received on monday a u2000. Everything works fine, except the battery... few calls, some reading in word = battery down in 3 hours. Next day, not using it , except 1 call, battery down in 6 hours.
I don't know what to do... a replacement of the battery, a refund...I just want the battery to last for 12-14 hours.
How long does your battery last?
What is your advice?
Please respond to this message as soon as you can.
Thank you very much!
Hi all,
I have recieved my phone from mobiles.co.uk finaly who initially advertised the I9000 as the 16gb version... This is incorrect and have since changed their website to 8gb..
I have been in contact with mobiles.co.uk who have tried to send me an 8gb memory to make up the difference. Like probably most of us here we already have 8gb memory cards so this is useless but may be useful to you.
I would advise that anybody who has purchased the Samsung Galaxy S from mobiles.co.uk as the 16gb version, to double check and you'll probably find its the 8 and if you want to return it.. do so before the return policy runs out and goto vodaphone for the 16.
I am curious how many people they have done this too!!!
Hi, I bought mine from Mobiles.co.uk, and yes it was advertised as 16g, but it was also advertised as having an LED Flash at one point. But being realistic I never expected to get a 16G version since Vodafone announced a UK exclusive on it. Mobiles corrected this as soon as they got them. I didnt bother asking for an 8 gig card, as you say, we mostly already have them.
You are fully entitled to send it back, and get one from Vodafone, but it will be locked, and likely Vodafone branded with the red dog turd. So I'm happy with my 8G version, and its hardly a limitation given we can add another 32G in the SDHC slot.
I guess its a question of weither you feel cheated or hard done by, or weither you shrug it off as an easy oversight in today's world where a new gadget arrives every week.
Thats exactly it.. but would rather be given the choice than realise when its too late and cant send it back.. Vodafone offer it for £35pm and dont give the half price offer neither which would pay for the SD card..
Just a note to people... thats all.
guys do you know if this phone work on tmobile US? can I buy it off and get it send over to the us????
thanks
Hey guys
I'm thinking about going to Microsoft Store and picking up a Dell Venue Pro,
however I'm kind of worried about the DVP's well known freezing issues.
Can you guys please tell me your DVP's production or manufacture date?
and if you are experiencing any crashing or freezing problems.
I'll really appreciate it if you can include your model (8GB model or 16gb)
I also like to take the answers from US consumers, just because people in India is getting a DVP with a NODO update. ;(
Thanks guys.

I believe MS Store still only carries the 8GB model which in general has been far less problematic than the 16GB. I don't think the build date will help in determining the stability.
yeah...thanks for the reply
I called two different MS store today, and the CS Rep told me that
they are only carrying 8gb version of DVP.
I also asked them to check the production date on the retail packaging,
and foud out that they only have DVP from December of last year.
Should I just go with 8gb version of it and do a SD card swap?

If you want the 16GB I'd still get it from Dell even with the risk that it may be bad. Replacing the card yourself will void the warranty.
If you do decide to get it at the MS Store, I got mine there in December so it is likely from that same batch. Mine has been pretty trouble free.
Hey counterfeit1204,
I was also worried about the manufacture date of the Dell Venue Pro and release issues. I have recently purchased my Dell Venue Pro (8GB) on March 14, 2011 directly from dell's website. Based on the information of the box, the manufacture date is 01/23/2011. I have been using the phone for 3 days since March 22 and I can say that it has been running stable expect for a lock-up of the screen after charging it, while surfing the marketplace and while using the maps software. Other than that though, it seems to running just perfectly fine in other aspects. I would like for them to fix that lock-up screen issue that seems to occur at random moments on my phone. So far it hasn't frozen on me again from charging it or surfing the marketplace. I haven't tried to see if the maps causes a lock-up again. Here's a link to the forum briefly discussing the issue - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936649
So im from Trinidad and Tobago and a local independent phone store has the DVP available for 2200 TTD, roughly (2200/6.45) 341 USD.
Here is the situation, its the TMobile Phone that they unlocked and to make matters worse it the 8gb version -_-
1. So first, can i get the update to mango even if im not on the TMobile network.
2. Secondly if i get the 8gb im gonna want to upgrade it and if i do so, im going all or nothing 32gbs bbe How easy is it to upgrade the Micro SD Card and can anyone do a youtube tutorial video?
Any insights/asnweres (preferably answers) would be greatly appreciated. Keep on doing the do pplz
1. Yes
2. More info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10789265&postcount=10 Keep in mind that you're going to void the warranty
Save your money, the dvp would have been great, but dell fkd up in so many ways. Just read the threads and you will see.
most of the issues have been fixed by now with firmware updates and mango. Also currently dell only sells the dvp with a 16gb (which is perfect size for 99% of people) unlocked so no need to worry about carrier issues and 16gb is great too.
Only thing you need to ask yourself now is the size to big for you?

Have a link? Searched all three but only found generic cases.

seems like you don't even own the device! The device works flawlessly now!
I am really big fan of HTC HD2, but I still get tired with my old Omnia i900. Yesterday searching the Internet I found HD2 in very strange price - 567 PLN (about 185 USD). And my question is: should I try and buy this one or look for any more expensive? Should I trust this seller?
As device is 4yrs old that price is possible for old stock, I buy them around 90USD for 100% working clean examples with void stickers still present ...
Hm... I forgot to write it's completely new. So it is really, really strange.
I can buy new old stock for about same here in Thailand, seems about right to me. At HD2s age you get no HTC warranty & it is old hat hardware by today's standard, they need clear them & HD2 demand is not so high these days so prices have fallen.
So do you think I should buy this one?
No idea as not seen the retailers details, if has some form of buyer protection & return policy then might be worth it as buying used HD2's is only good if can be hands on with device prior to purchase as eBay etc are full of the sh1te used devices.
I sure would not want spend more on a new old stock 4yr old handset with known digitiser & bga failings.

I am not recommended you to buy this. Because i think it also old. You did not get same version from old version...
You'll try to buy an used item on ebay.. it's an old funny phone.. but I bought a Nexus 4 for that price!
great post

i am wondering anybody is still using this device today
I have still 2 HTC HD2 at home.
At the one the screen is broken and in the other the mainboard seems to have a problem.
Actually i wanted to join them. But since i have a Moto G, the HD2 is nearly completly out of my Head.
But i had really nice 4 years with this device.
Do you really want to spend this much money on such a old device?
I don't know. I would really recommend you not to do that.
If you are a dev, then it is maybe ok, but as a simple user...?
I think the times are nearly over or not? But if your money is falling out of your pocket
As i said did not follow HD2 since 5 months. I would reccomend you to buy a Brand new Moto G.
Google converted middel class Hardware phones to low class price phones. Excellent!
looks like a used phone to me.
