CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.
What are Nightly builds? Auto compiled builds of the latest CyanogenMod source from github. This version change each night and aren't officialy supported. If you find bugs/issues you can/must discuss here (do not submit nightlies bug on CyanogenMod issue tracker).

Reporting Bugs
You are allowed to report bugs only in this thread. Before reporting a bug, please make sure you are running as stock as possible. This means no custom kernel, no custom framework modification, etc. If you are using any of the above modifications, please flash the rom again to get rid of the modifications before reporting.
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. The following is a useful format to follow.
Code:

Awsome!

Builds are fast and stable for me and good power consuming!
thanks for bring it to Captive!

I'm coming from apex 12.4 running at&t bootloaders. Can I simply follow the 7 steps of "flashing ics" from the first post? Or are there other things I have to take into consideration? Any help would be appreciated!

Awesome!!! I know what I'm doing tonight.

Aah, now i can feed my flashing addiction.

Shouldn't the download link be http://get.cm/?device=captivatemtd ??

The download link in the first post is wrong. That link is for the international Galaxy S. Here is the link for the Captivate.

You would be fine to follow the first step.
Edit: has nightly officially taken over original CM9 Alpha?

Currently, the last post in the CM9 Alpha thread is from pawitp linking to this thread, so I think that indicates that the CM9 Alpha thread is now officially dead (unless you insist on running an old alpha build and are hoping someone other than THS might answer a question).
On a different note, it is nice to see that teamhacksung is taking up Galaxy Note development.

Pawitp, as an FYI I reverted back to build 17 and am not experiencing the reboot issue during calls like I did during the later couple of nightlies I tried. Not sure if that helps at all, or if anyone else can confirm.

Thinking of giving this a try. Don't think I've ever been on a cm build! Coming from aokp and I'm not at my computer, from what I understand this is asop right? By that I mean straight up and simple? I'm expecting no rom control, etc. I think I'll give her a go tonight. Thanks Pawtip.

When CM9 is officially released, there will likely be a demo video on http://www.cyanogenmod.com but until then this is alpha/beta software at best and as such the aesthetics and functions are not completely polished for wide release

the difference between RC and nightlies is RC is considered (mostly) stable and users are allowed to post issues/bugs to the issue tracker. nightlies will never be allowed to post, but even RC1 users can. nightlies will continue to be built between stable releases (there will continue being nightlies after RC1/before RC2... and after RC2/before RC3--if there is an RC3--until the final stable build is released) until there is no longer a use for nightlies.

What about CM7 issues like battery drain?
Nightly #33 was on my captivate yesterday, #40 this morning, RC7.1.0 tonight, and by tomorrow, ... back to the nightlies. Stable for an instant.

OP says to flash from ClockworkMod Recovery: Does it matter what version?
OP does not mention what boot loaders should be used. Are the new AT&T I897 GB loaders okay to use?
Thanks!
I was on the nightlies and was using Froyo Bootloaders. I think you can use One-Click to go back to Elclair and see how it goes.
Wow great work, this is a mile stone

wiki instructions clearly say to flash from Froyo, and those are the instructions to use
don't forget to backup /efs folder everyone. this fried my efs folder on the first install and i had to recover it from backup. working great now though with no /efs issues.
Edit: Not saying the rom did it or anything. Sometimes efs just gets rubbed the wrong way during a rom install and jacks up your imei.
Flashing from a froyo-based rom okay?

You can grab these builds via ROM Manager as well.
Q: What is this?
A: This is something I have started doing since the buildbot has been on hiatus and I needed to feed my addiction to flashing the most recent build of CyanogenMod 7 I could get my hands on. I started doing this for myself and saw that there was a pretty big demand for the newest updates possible so I said why not share it with everyone. Nothing in my builds have been altered so don't worry. It is not a ROM I have customized. All I am simply doing is pulling the source every morning and compiling it.
Q: Wait, so this is the same as the CyanogenMod 7 nightly builds? Why rename it and make it?
A: Great question. Think about it this way. The CyanogenMod team builds nightly right? Well, lately it hasn't been nightly but more random. The advantage of building daily, for me and the people on the east coast, it is much better to have a new build readily available in the morning versus waiting all night for a release or no release at all and wasting time. I am not taking credit for the CyanogenMod team's work and I refuse to as I am simply pulling the source and compiling it. The renaming of my builds is to defer the confusion between the CyanogenMod nightly builds as my builds have nothing to do with how CyanogenMod builds and releases.
Q: Ok, so if I am having issue X,Y,Z who do I report it to?
A: As of yet, there is no official CyanogenMod 7 thread so please feel free to post here!
Q: Uh, if there are nightlies then why would I want to use your builds? Doesn't it make sense to use one of the nightlies?
A: Sure, you are more than free to use one of the official CyanogenMod nightlies! The reason why some use my builds is simply the fact that they want to have the newest updates and merges on their device! The buildbot does not always pump out a new nightly where as I always will be building and compiling every day. Also, the nightlies don't always include the newest merges because of the fact that merges can be push at any time.
Q: If you are building these daily what happens if updates are merged after you build?
A: Haha, I know this is sad but I don't have much of a life but I do have one! I keep on top of all the merges almost like clockwork! I normally check about every hour to see if there are any major updates and fixes. If a major fix is merged I will be pushing out another build as soon as I see that it has been merged! So no need to worry about having the newest build besides downloading it and installing it.
Q: Ok, so nightly #X is released, wouldn't it be the same as your build #Y?
A: This is a little harder to answer but I will make it simple. As I said before and as many have noticed, the buildbot doesn't always push a new build and I compile AFTER all the merges are done for the day. I will be working on a log that tracks the differences between the nightlies and my builds shortly.
Q: I can't get CWM 3.x.x.x to update on my phone. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Every time I go to recovery, it says i'm running 3.y.y.y
A: ROM Manager > Menu > Settings > Erase Recovery > Back > All ClockworkMod Recoveries > select desired version
Any other questions? Please let me know and I will include them in this post!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I personally test out each build as I release them and if there is one posing serious issues I will pull it!
All my builds will be online and ready to download no later than 10 AM eastern time! I try to get them out as quick as possible for you guys!
As a sidenote and fore more clarification, I am NOT taking credit for the fabulous work that the CyanogenMod team is doing! This is NOT a custom ROM I have edited or made! This is always going to be straight from the CyanogenMod team's source!
Please enjoy it and happy crackflashing to all!
Perhaps one of these builds will clear up my "can't establish a secure connection" problem when trying to log into my google account on the slayhers build.
Thanks for uploading.
Random battery drain/heat?
I personally think this is the best ROM. However, not sure if it's just me, the phone would often heat up as if I am running something intensive. Obviously, when that happens, the battery would drain fast. Is this just me? Also, will there be anymore updates to this awesome rom? Thanks

I think its a valid question related to the developer of this ROM. Seems like a back door way to get your ROM on xda after being banned. Hell, could be a secondary account of Protekk.
In either case development has slowed down on both sites.

[ROM] UNOFFICIAL AOKP nightly builds

UNOFFICIAL AOKP Nightly Builds
Since AOKP development has started picking up with their addition of their new Gerrit server, I've decided to release nightly builds for AOKP. These should be released every day anywhere from 6-9pm depending on when I get time to do it. Also, some days I might not get the time. However, it should be almost every day that a new build comes out.
All credits go toward the entire AOKP team for their efforts in making one of the most customizable builds out there right now. It is absolutely fantastic.
You can download it by sorting by date uploaded right here on my goo.im profile:
http://goo.im/devs/rohan/tenderloin/aokp_nightlies
Note: These downloads are provided untested. This might break your system so be sure to keep a backup handy. Nightly builds are usually more unstable than any other type of ROM, but if you want the latest features then use this. I do not take responsibility for anything that may happen to your system.
Another note: These downloads do not come with any sort of support. Do not ask for help in IRC for aokp if you are running these nightlies. They are not official and thus are not officially supported. So don't go and give roman and the other devs a headache
And another note: They don't come with gapps, download those separately from goo.im or some other source.
You should just be able to download and install the zip in CWM, then wipe caches. Reboot and enjoy. No other wiping is needed, only caches.
Right now I am building on my personal PC (I don't have a server) so I apologize if it takes a while to get builds up! My system isn't the fastest at making builds haha
I will be making these ROMs updateable via the goo.im app probably this weekend, I don't have much time right now to figure out how it works.
If you want to find out when I release the new nightly, follow me on twitter: http://twitter.com/rohanXm
Looking forward to it!

Yup you need to reflash the Package and nope its the default Cyanogenmod Kernel.
This build is 100% AOKP "stock", as in its simply compiled from source with no changes.

The Supreme mods work fine but the xenon kernel broke my wifi (not had any wifi issues on any build) so back to cyanogen kernel and everything is working
The latest nightly (5/07) fixed my screen off/sound bug. All previous builds of AOKP had a muffled or distorted sound bug that appeared once I dimmed the screen while playing music. Bravo! I believe the fix came from the Classicnerd team, who once again prove they are contributing in remarkable ways. Bravo to them as well!
is this wifi driver included in the nightlys?

I tried both the 05/07 and 05/08 AOKP nightlies and the screen off/sound bug is still there just like any other ROM I have tried. Are you sure that you have the volume turned up enough?
can has new build?

NEW[ROM]Carbon Rom U8800pro [LATEST KERNEL]

First build!!!! Expect bugs~
Link is hidden in the text, read it all...
Ladies and Gentleman.
I present to you my second source built rom: CarbonRom
Before we jump to conclusions, I am testing the first build of this rom and notice many bugs.
Two main bugs
The Home and Search Capactive Buttons (Light Buttons) at the bottom of the screen are incorrectly assigned, Easy to fix and is not a priority.
Second, since this the old kernel made by Ivan (FIRST 4.2.2 kernel ever made) Bluetooth and wifi will NOT work.
System.ui faces issues, cant seem to see notifications, probably an easy fix.
Your welcome to submit fixes. All I ask is for people to ask permission to use any bits of THIS Rom. Team Taurus or not, i would like to know.
Just a reminder, it is a beta build for a reason. Before you judge me for posting a rom with bugs, I am going to try to stick with the ONE rom until all is fixed.
Sound works, Ril appears to be working (confirm?) Wifi? Cant connect since i have a -51
Note: rom is compiled for u8800pro. Will need to make a seperate tree for -51.
I'm sure if you use the latest cm10.1 kernel will work fine.
I will make this a solid build and move towards official or if my phone breaks
I think this rom has the FASTEST boot time. (First takes a while of course)
Please don't flame here, this is development and you will get reported the second something is non-development.
When you encounter a bug, list what happened and how it happened plus what you where doing. Make sure to include a logcat, I can't read your mind.
Note: I am making my own kernel next with all fixes and mods included. Also a zip kernel installer.

so, is it usable? what about reboots?
Not at all unstable. For me better than CM10.1. Just try it out.
Just a bit of advice..follow my instructions to ignore getting your sd card fried up.
1)Put the ROM at your Internal storage.
2)Safely remove sd card from last rom.
3)Go to recovery( cwm 5.0.2.7 or Somcom's 6.0.3.3 or Twrp 2.4.4.0)
4)Do a full wipe(Format system+Wipe dalvic cache+Wipe cache+Format data+Wipe android secure)
5)Flash Rom from internal storage
6)Flash Gapps (I support flashing Slim gapps(8MB only) you can find on XDA Android Software development forums)
7)Wipe Dalvik cache + Wipe Cache
8)Reboot System
9)Do the registrations using google account.
10)Reboot ROM
11)After phone is up after rebooting. Finally insert your SD card
NOTE- This is caused due to Some coding problems in the Ivans Kernel tree. As this ROM(Beta1) has [email protected] 3.0.8-dirty kernel,It is possible you can end up with a dead SD card IF YOU DONT FOLLOW THE ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS
After Spacekiller releases his latest kernel We wont have any more SD issues atleast in CarbonRom and Slimbean.
Stay Tuned for the next release.

[ROM 2.3.7] CyanogenMod 7.2 - [27/12/2013]

Hello dear xda users!
This is my effort to bring the newest CyanogenMod 7.2 for the U8800Pro.
To do this, I recreated the gingerbread vendor tree for U8800Pro.
I also made some changes to this device tree by genokolar which was incomplete.
This rom is built using the Linaro Toolchain.
Everything works in this ROM (including FM radio). However if you find something not working please inform me in the comment section.
I am not responsible for any kind of damage happening to your phone by using this ROM. YOU and only YOU choose to use this. Don't blame me or CyanogenMod Team if something ever goes wrong with your phone.
You have been warned!

CyanogenMod 7 firmware is based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread with additional custom code contributed by the CyanogenMod Team. The custom portions of CyanogenMod are primarily written by Cyanogen (Steve Kondik) but include contributions from the xda-developers community (such as an improved launcher tray, dialer, and browser) and code from established open source projects (such as BusyBox in the shell).

ezeteze - for helping me make my first steps at compiling roms from source
CyanogenMod Team - for the great work they put so far to make this ROM available to us
i will try both, thanks for sharing!

Why build made with Linaro is better?

You didn't mind searching much around on google huh?
Well Linaro as an organization provides an optimized GCC toolchain for ARM SoCs. I guess there should be kinda a little boost from using it.
Anyway, I didn't say my build is better because is built with linaro toolchain but I think is something worth mentioning since I didn't use the stock toolchain coming with CM7.
Build your super long they polzuyus.Spasibo much for work! This assembly is not the exception, but one - very quiet sound in the loudspeaker during a telephone conversation. Is it possible to fix this? Good luck and success to you!
This rom is insanely fast, no random reboots, just launcher was laggy.
I reccomend to downgrade and use this one.
1st post updated with newest build and screenshots
For changelog see my github commits.
The most important thing, FM radio now works. Enjoy a fully working rom!
Big thanks to him! Everything works great! Good luck!
nice rom amazing good jobs man !
Very good job Moichack. This is my second favorite ROM.

Whether the continuation of this miracle? Bring to perfection. Good luck. Very nice ROM.
hello ... what is used to put the gapps separately? enough to include everything before the flash and go all the great ..... I do not understand this step unnecessary
Two Power Buttons and No Search Button
By default, the search button acts as power button. Pressing it once locks the screen and long press brings up the power menu.
The CyanogenMod Settings > Input > Search Key behaviour toggles do not bring back the normal search key behaviour.
Kindly guide me how to get back the normal search behaviour of the search button.
powerful rom amaaaaazing ^_^
but i want to increase the fps to 55 like kalo's rom
i tried to use the uncap fps script but unfortunatly no changes pleeez help
