i have iconia A501 with 3.2.1 and i tried to downgrad it to 3.0.1 to root it. i downgrad it than root it but i couldnt install new rooms after sometime it start giving me this msg secure boot: image SOS checksum fail

Are you still able to boot into Android? if so, download Acer Recovery Installer and use it to install a cwm. It'll fix the SOS checksum issue by running itsmagic.

My A500 also has the SOS checksum error.
When it boots in only gets to the Android System screen then there is a message that it is poweing down but it doesn't.
I can not navigate to install recovery touch screen is inactive.
Can not flash because of the SOS checksum error.

Used EUUs_SBK_Acer_A500_1.016.05_COM_GEN1
That fixed the SOS checksum error
and several reloads of unstable update.zip
Then OTA updates Tablet is alive!!
t_r_j could you explain a little? First. I found EUUs_SBK_Acer_A500_1.016.05_COM_GEN1 with google. It was a rar achive. Should new roms not be a zipped archive? What do you do with it?

Are you still able to boot to recovery by pressing Volume-Down + Power?
Have the same problem on my a501, but recovery doesn't work, too. There comes the message SOS Boot Checksum failed. Hope, someone can help me.

Tried to flash new bootloader with blackthunders a500apx Flash Tool. It seemed to work, but after reboot still the same errors.
I have the same problem,is there a solution?

Open A500APXFlash and coose bundle market,yas and choose repo skrilax.Now taste one of this bundle.I fix the problem.I solve the problem several months ago and can not remember what I chose but I think it's number 11 .Go one by one.

I am currently trying to install thor_rom_v14.2.zip (ROM) to my
Pb liberty tab said to be the same as acer iconia A500.
The stuck version is android is 3.0.1
But every time I try to start it in recovery mode I get
"secure boot img SOS check sum fail!" and the boot process stops.
I've rooted it with gengerbreak
installed ROM manager from app store. It does not recognize the product under the installation and asks me to confirm that it is an asus transfomer which I did although it was certainly not an asus trnasformer. All the things I tried with ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) led only to a boot that stopped by "Secure boot img SOS check sum fail!"
So I tried with acer recovery install v2.74. But here I got exactly same result. I could not get past the "secure boot img SOS check sum fail!".
So my question obviously is. How do I get about this "Secure boot img SOS check sum fail!"
Should I perhaps get hold of an older version of the Acer Recovery Installer that has ClockworkMod Recovery rev.1.3.4 by thor2002ro with it? If yes how to I get it?
Other proposals... could I do this in a completely different manner? like from a USB connection from a remote computer or with Unix dd command or???.. How could I get about this?

My Acer A500 starts only in the Team Win Recoverey twrp v2.4.0.0 modes.
Backups are on the tablet and on the external sd card but it is not possible to install them.

I want to install ROM "CM10-FLEX_V6Supercharged_Rev2.3_GappsIncl_Public " but this is not possible with twrp v2.4.0.0.
To install TWP 2.1.3-Triumph.zip with twrp v2.4.0.0 gives "Failed".

This gives a error message "Unable to locate zip file '/ sdcard / SDCARD: update.zip".
E: Error installing zip file '/ sdcard / SDCARD: update.zip ".
Is there anyone who can help me. It doesn't matter anymore what rom I put on as long as it works.

Can you install THOR's 1.73 recovery? If so, then you should be able to flash the ROM you mention, That's how I did mine.
I tried to install:

You'll lose all data, so pop out your external micro card, but you might want to try the hard reset...the one where you toggle the orientation button. Have you tried that?

Have you tried flashing a "back to stock ROM". That would also install the stock recovery and remove root. There are XDA threads on this.

I have bricked my ACER and phones several times (and a few times it seemed as if I wasn't gonna be able to restore them). But I always got them running again.
Might take a lot more googling, but you'll eventually figure it out.

Yessss, I did it . The problem consisted of two problems.
1) APX driver reinstalled.
2) Installation on a Windows 7 PC. (Windows 8 will not work)
Then start all over with "blackthund3r_A500_APX_Flash_Tool_v0.4" software.
What a great tool.

Hi guys i have an acer a501 tablet it was running stock android 3.0.1 and i tried rotting it and updating via rashr.
