Turn off the "Telephone" on the Tab - Galaxy Tab General

Hey there guys.
I've got a little question. When I bought my GT-P1000 it had 2.2 and there was an option for enabling/disabling the telephone function inside the tab.
I've upgraded it to 2.3.3 via odin (it was a providerbranded 2.2) and now this option seems to be missing.
As I just use a Data-Sim, it would be really nice if i could turn the telephone off again, since not all ppl of my family are so familliar with theese devices.
Any solution? Maby an App would be nice, so I can lock that feature aswell when there is a stable ics build out and on my device.

Try turning off HSDPA (that means set this to Release 99)
Enter *#301279#, select "Change revision"
Remember to toggle airplane mode on/off after changing this.
Maybe your modem got stuck with some silly configuration.
Worth a shot.

Defy wifi problem

Hi i was just wondering if anyone else has the problem with their defy where the wifi drops out all the time the connection stays on but it stops working and i have to toggle the wifi off and on to get it working. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks
sorry,这个真不知道
I've got the same issue on cm7, to reproduce just try to download a torrent, your wifi will stop working almost instantly...

me too, the same issue on CM7.2 120102, but i've notice when you set the cpu settings on bootloader to default the wifi works fine

Motorola Defy CM72111116, german Froyo base
These are all faulty hardware, try any rom or baseband you like, restore your original rom and return to supplier.
There seem to be quite a lot of them too

No this is a CM7 problem too, has something to do with wpa supplicant
Sent from my 1Ghz CM7 + CM9 Defy
I bet if you used a stock rom for more than a few hours, you'd notice the same drop off.
If it was a cm7 issue with supplicant, other handsets would also suffer, it's all built from the same source.

Mine does it with cm7 and miui some builds are better than others. The latest miuiandroid rom seems the best i've tried so far it only drops out a couple of times a day. With other roms almost every time i use wifi for a few minutes

But it's still dropping, personally I would send it back. Moto issued flaky batches, they deserve a high return ratio.
The same issues affect their other phones too, check the atrix thread.

I would if it didn't mean sending it from aus to the usa and going back to a w810i Sony Ericsson dumb phone for at least a month or two.

No faulty hardware. It seems that if you use Gingerbread with the older (Froyo) kernel, sooner or later you'll run into this problem. Under stock Froyo I can easily download, say, more gigabytes without a glitch. I'v tried several GB ROMs (CM7, MIUI, Moto with GreenBreadMod) and all the time wifi sucked, no matter what settings I used.
Try Froyo or if you have red lense, try a Defy+ ROM (except those with the well-known WPA2-bug) and you won't get any problem.
I think it's a problem with the CPU setting of the CyanogenMod and other ROMs, because when I go to bootmenu and use default settings without saving obviously (800mhz defy default), after some days testing, the wifi works fine, for example, I could fully download 2 game data (200mb and 500mb) without getting a dropout, I think I've solved so far, in terms of speed is not greatly affected the navigation of the phone.
Just today, this evening I got my new Defy and later discovered this problem (I am on stock Eclair ROM), what I did was that I added my Defy's MAC address into my DHCP Reservations List which was found in my modem's settings page and it looks like the problem is fixed for now, I'll keep you guys updated if I overcome any problem. By the way I am using WEP encryption method which only supports b/g mode, plus I checked Enable auto IP option in Settings / Wireless Settings / Wifi / Advanced.
Hello,
I have the same issue (no matter of rom, stock 2.1,2.2 or CM7) and setting my router to BG and WPA2/TKIP solves problem. I think It's buggy hw from motorola and AES support. When I switch to AES or TKIP+AES wifi hangs after downloading about 20MB, sometimes just few MB.
I have wifi issue on my latest 7.2 nightly build, too.
So, it looks like, phone wants to connect to saved connections (wifi status is connecting), but there should be status "searching", and stays on status Disconnected. Pushing Search button, do nothing.
When I delete few saved connections, wifi could do "search", and after that, i can connect!.
I think, there is critical numer of saved connections, when it is riched, then wifi can't do search, and connect to any host.
did you try deleting wpa_supplicant?
No,
I've only disabled support for n-mode in tiwlan.ini. Will see if this helps.
Do you mean, delete /etc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf?
You think it'll help?

Is possible to have this WiFi issue?

Hi!
Well, I have a very weird issue with custom ROMs and WiFi.
The history begins last sunday. I was using GingerDX wich is really great, but I had some problems with it, the most important was not being able to install apps in my SD card.
So, I switched to GingerXperia V22, this is a cool ROM too but I really don't like that my music lags when I turn my screen on. Also, the SE default dialer and Infinity view are bad and slow, but I didn't have the problem with WiFi, until I switched to XGin 6.2
Everything worked OK except for this:
El Brillantinas said:
I just realized a terrible and very weird error with this ROM:
I couldn't connect to The WiFi of my mate's office (where Im currently working). But the weirdest thing was the modem worked fine before trying to connect with my Xperia, but after turning the WiFi on, the modem just got busted and didn't work anymore!! So, no internet in the office computers, neither in my iPod, in my mate's smartphone, etc.! It was necessary to turn the modem off and then turning it on, and turning my X8's wifi off to make the modem working properly again.
Weird, huh?
I reflashed, and the error happened again.
So, I flashed back to the ROM I was using before (GingerXperia V22), and now the WiFi is working fine!
Anyone else with that same error or Im the only crazy around here?

I tried kuyaDROID and the same error happened.
I also did a full wipe... And nothing, the WiFi error remains on those two ROMs. So, Im currently using GingerXperia.
So, the question is: Is this really possible? And, is there any solution?
There may be some bug that's overloading it. Also was it the modem or the router? Cuz if it's wifi I would guess its the router but you said modem? I'd just use a different rom that works.

Guess is the router, where the wired networks are connected, it also gives the wireless signal.
As I said, Im sticking with GingerXperia, wich is not causing the error and Im connecting to WiFi with no problems. But I have personal problems with infinity view, SE's dialer and music lagging.
If is about a overloading bug, how could I fix it?
Im using stock kernel, btw.
To tell you the truth, I'm not actually that smart in this, but by overloading I meant that it might be trying to use too much data or something along that line, did it work fine over 3g?
Sent from my LG-VM670 using XDA App
Yeah, I didn't have any problems with 3G.
Don't really have any idea then, I've had problems with mange one device at a time but not fully crashing. Last advice would be that maybe the router has a limit to the number of connected devices it can have and your phone puts it over, try disconnecting one device then connect your phone

I already tried that, and the problem persists.
But this is a good excuse to read and learn eve more, it is a totally new problem for me hehe.
Thanks anyway, for giving suggestions.
I guess I'd try posting in your phones thread and the rom's also, might get better insight into the problem

To further assist you may I ask some questions;
1. What kernel are you using?
2. Have you tried connecting in other Access Point aside from the previous AP you are connecting with?
3. If using custom kernel did you delete all the modules in system/lib/modules?

1. Im in stock kernel.
2. Nope, I didn't try it. I don't have internet in home, but I'd try in my girl's house.
3. same answer than 1.
Thanks for being interested in this curious case.
If your using stock kernel then you shouldn't have to encounter those issues as most roms esp kuyadroid as you mentioned earlier is made for stock rom. I suggest trying into public wifi access and see if you could be able to connect. You have to have two or more access point to test with as router might have different configs than your girls setup.

Thanks to virtuous DEV's

Dear virtuous Development Team.
I'm using your ROM very long. Think since 2 weeks after buying my device. I loved the Sense 3.0 in Unity ROM, but was disappointed about perfomance. This leads me to switch to g-lite and everything was fine.
At the moment I'm on quattro and realy love this ROM. Hope the camera will work soon. If so i will finaly trash the iPhone4.
ICS is really improving the performance and battery usage.
Expect the camera i have one more issue with the quattro ROM. I know it's not a real usecase. That's why i didn't complain it yet. If background sync, WLAN and mobile data is deactivated it reactivate somehow after a while. Don't know where this is coming from, had whatsapp in scope, but after deinstall the issue is still there. Are there any programs that could activate network access on demand? Want to deactivate the data because want to test the battery cycle with only cell function active.
When i reached the 10 post treshold, i will reply inside the real development thread.
Kind Regards,
I don't have my phone with me right now, so I can't post exact directions. There is an option in the system settings under wireless settings to enable your phone to connect to mobile data. Just uncheck this and your phone will be set to voice only with no 2G/3G connectivity and WiFi will still be usable if you have that toggled on.
The Virtuous Team does great work and it's my hope that they'll continue on this track. Many people use their work and many more use their work as a base, in whole or in parts.
Waiting for a sense ICS.
Nov luck with disabling mobile data and 3g. WLAN gets active After some time automatically. But no problem, device without charge since 3d13h31m. Screenshot follows!

HTC One m9+ Internet problem

Helllo,
I could not find any revelant thread for this and so i waited for the Marshmallow update and not yet to come so i thought i could use some professional help to fix this irritating issue.
I have HTC One m9+ and so far everything is going well with the phone, except one single thing and driving me crazy which is the internet issue.
I have two major issues:
1- When phone is on WIFI at home and i did not use for some time, the phone seems to be disconnected from the internet .. and i have tried all possible tweaks and settings for power saving and sleeping but nothing worked so far, the only thing that is possible for me is to keep on data 4G all the time, which comes the other problem
2- When on Data (3g or 4G) the phone sometimes loses connectivity completely, i just have to wait and wait until i get 4G connection again.. although signal is ok and i still receive calls but just data stops.. i tried matching settings like my galaxy note 3 and checking different APN from ISP but still same.
However, the first problem is more important, but if you can help me with both it will be great
Hello, update that the problem is actually in Whatsapp application and not the rest of the phone, on WIFI whatsapp does not receive any messages unless i open it after unlock (works fine on data)
I tried PNF and change heart beat but still the same. background data is enabled for whatsapp, notification all good, reinstalled application.. still the same
Do you have some ports blocked at your Wifi? WhatsApp and other messenger like Viber are using some ports which may be blocked at Univercity Wifi or other Wifi's...

i had the same problem but i solved out on HTC m9 + . bluetooth and wifi doesnt work together get speedtest app and try it with that when yopu have bluetooth on wifi speed gets under 0.1 mb download and 0 upload speed after you shutdown the bluetooth wifi is ok this problem comes with the 1.08.401.6 change your firmware
Yes, I get exactly the same. Seems that switching on Bluetooth causing significant issues with Wi-Fi. Should have been fixed by HTC ages ago.
I am on the latest EU firmware 1.90.401.3 - I don't think it used to be an issue.
