i know this is probably a stupid question, but how do i boot into TWRP? does it have to be through a computer or is there a way to do it straight from the device?
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
install firefirefire
Have you actually installed twrp? If not, google it.
If you did, then reboot your device and when you see the yellow triangle on boot, hold the power button for 2 seconds until your power button turns from green to orange, then release it and wait a bit until the twrp screen appears.
Quick question....can I have TWRP 2.0 & FireFireFire bootloader installed with the stock Kindle splash screen?
I have both the bootloader (mmcblk0p2) and recovery (mmcblk0p5) backed up on my computer. I can boot from the TWRP backup without installing it (fastboot -i 0x1949 boot mmcblk0p5.img), but can I just dd the bootloader and recovery backups to their respective partitions (/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 and /dev/block/mmcblk0p5) and keep the Kindle splash screen?
The triangle is FFF.... if you don't want that, you would have to replace the graphic it uses. It is doable, but you would have to recompile FFF with the new graphic in it.
So basic answer... no.
Thanks for your input.
Well as it turns out, the "splash" partition isn't the splash screen partition I thought it was. It actually contains some log files which are probably used for troubleshooting.
So, got a phone here from a friend, gave it to me and said i could keep it whether it works or not.
info... doesn't boot normal.
goes into bootloader, and fastboot works. recovery doesn't work.
booting normal DID allow ADB interface access, though with a black screen, until I tried to reflash stock boot.img through fastboot, now no adb.
so, I need to know how to check if an img flashed through fastboot is sticking, and i would like to find img files for flashing a ROM through fastboot.
btw, if internal memory is bonked, is it possible to get it booting off of an SD card?
Check Glacier Wiki, section "Troubleshooting". Link in my signature.
If you build a custom kernel that will boot it off SD card - you'll be able to boot off SD card. You'll need to partition it, of course.
If boot partition (where kernel resides) is screwed - you don't have much to do...
Hi there,
I have a N7 (2012) with an issue.
First, I am familiar with fastboot, adb, etc. The tablet bootloader is locked (unfortunately), there is a stock recovery, and the tablet is running the stock rom (4.3, forgot the build number).
It has been working fine for months, but now when turning it on it goes to a black screen with just the google logo. It never displays the boot animation (the x).
I know for sure I could reflash the stock rom, but the tablet is my brothers and he really wants to somehow save his game progress (in games such as Jetpack Joyride, Temple Run 2, Iron Man 3, and one other).
I can’t…
….. flash any partitions (such as reflash system, boot, recovery, etc.)
….. boot a custom recovery (that has adb so I can do a adb backup)
…… boot the tablet to turn on usb debugging
…… do an adb backup from stock recovery.
I did however wipe cache from the stock recovery to no avail.
Before anyone says “check the drivers”, both fastboot devices and adb devices (fastboot in bootloader, adb in recovery, after selecting sideload update from adb) display the tablet.
Anyone have any ideas (or know if these games backup to play games somehow?) on how to save his game data?
Anyone have any ideas on how this happened? Since stock android should only be able to write to cache, userdata….. and not system, boot, etc… which partition has the issue?
Thanks in advance for all the help.

Hi,
I have multirom installed and tried to install a android 5.0 rom. After installation I had some kind of boot loop: google logo -> restart
After that I rebooted via fastboot to recovery, but after the splash screen it rebootet and I got again the boot loop.
My next step was to try fastboot boot with the multirom recovery image and my default boot.img, but no success...
Then I noticed that I need for this 5.0 rom the 4.23 bootloader, so I upgraded from 4.13 (I think).
Same after that...
Then I tired fastboot boot with a stock TWRP recovery image for nexus 7 (2012) and I got a new kind of bootloop after that: google logo -> TWRP Logo -> restart
And now it tries to boot TWRP every time I turn on the devices and can't boot to fastboot (via vol - button) and adb is not working too...
Any ideas?
Download factory image and do a clean flash with wug tool kit. This will fix it.
To install the factory image, I need fastboot and I can't enter fastboot mode.

I was stuck the same way yesterday. Use the WUGS Nexus Root Toolkit. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475
I had to fool around with it before it would see the device, but once it did, I flashed the LRX21P and was off and running.
When I want to use in the toolkit "Back to Stock (Soft-Bricked/Bootloop) it asks me to tsrat into fastboot mode... but I can't... but I can get the device into apx mode...
Bump...

You mention TWRP - are you able to boot into TWRP, or does it just show the splash and reboot again? If you can get into TWRP, you could conceivably use ADB mode and sideload something...
Splash and reboot... I already tried to get adb access, but no success...
Hello,
I was attempting to root and install a custom ROM yesterday. I first unlocked my bootloader via ADB. Then flashed TWRP in fastboot mode using ADB. I then booted to TWRP and my internal memory said "0 GB." I wasn't able to do a backup or flash a ROM.
When I went to reboot my system it became stuck in the booting screen with the moving dots. What did I do wrong??! PLEASE HELP!

Did you solve your problem ?
Once you unlock bootloader you loose all your data.
Have a try to "format" your data partition inside TWRP.
Afterwards install the custom ROM ..
