Hi all,
Sorry to bother you if this question has already been answered, but I promise you I have checked. My IcecreamTostidroid rom suddenly stopped working after the battery died, it keeps getting stuck at the black HTC loading screen. I backed up the whole sd card after this happened. Luckily I've been doing this after an sd frying incident, so when I copied an old back up it works. Unfortunately, this back up is pretty old so I don't have a lot of things on it.
Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this? Perhaps deleted or edit some system files? I noticed the .REC files on the root folder kept increasing, perhaps it has something to do with them? I don't know.
Sorry again, if this is a common problem, but most of what I checked wasn't resolved or wasn't similar so... yeah. Thanks in advance!
Have you tried deleting the data.img file from the ICS folder? You would have to run through the startup process but you would atleast be able to get ICS working again.
Try replacing system.ext4 file with original one if this don't work PM me

File explore dies whenever i try to delete a file, it does delete it (or the first one if im deleting many) but then it freezes, i get the spinning circle thing and thats it.. even if i leave it for aages. Ive tried ending it in task manager but it refuses to shutdown.. only way to fix it is to soft reset.. so when ive got a few files to remove its very irritating  anybody got any ideas how to fix it?
Running the latest o2 rom
try installing resco file explorer. Its much better.

I do know what is your problem. You have an SD card inserted! When softresetting WITH SD Card, the problem is as you described, but WITHOUT, you have no problems and it works smooth!
Don't know the exact fix for the SD Card, but what I described works and just helps you!
Yep thats fixed it.. thanks
I thought even basic testing would have shown up this bug..boo @ m$
Hey Folks,
I think I may have bricked my phone. Just checking here to see if anyone
knows something I don't that may be able to save it. I was backing up my
PIM.vol file using the Synce software. I did this by ending all tasks running
on the system and renaming the file to PIM1.vol. I rebooted and a new
PIM.vol was created and mounted giving me access to the original file I
copied it onto my system with no problems. I then used the same
procedure to rename the empty PIM.vol to PIM11.vol and PIM1.vol back to
PIM.vol. When I rebooted the system it hangs at the Windows Mobile 6.5
splash screen. I'm running a 3v0 series windows 6.5 rom, no idea on the
version but it's been running on there for a few months with no problems.
If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them. Thanks for looking
everyone.

Well, today I tried the phone one more time in desperation before I went down to Verizon. The phone locked up as per usual, but when I cycled the power it came up with a recovery screen. the screen allowed me to do a hard reset on the phone and it's back to working normally. Once the phone was recovered I moved my backup PIM.vol file over, and it took this time. I'm not quite sure what or why it was hanging, but I think it had to do with the case of the file being incorrect, though I'm not sure. Anyway, everything is up to snuff once again. Hopefully this information may help someone else down the road.
Hi everyone,
I've managed to boot android several times, but always have the same problem (and have never been able to find a fix).
I manage to boot android perfectly and configure everything the first time, but when I switch the phone off, when I start android again it hangs at the black htc screen.
The only way i've found to make android work again, is by deleting all the files and booting again....
Today I reseted the phone by pressing the red button at the back and it started again perfectly, but after I switched the phone back off, same problem...
Are we not supposed to power off the phone?
Thanks a lot in advance
I'm on the latest energy Rom and Darsktone Froyo android as of today (allways had this same problem with all versiones I've tried)
i think this i the prob i had same thing is the stuff in a android folder on the root of sd or just sd if just sd make a folder called android and move the stuff to there
Same problem here.
have to delete "andriod" and "lost.dir" folder to start up andriod
my setup
NRZ rom 24 sep
radio 2.14
FRG83
I guess it happens to everyone... Yesterday i just got Mdeejay_eVo_Sense. It was pretty cool and very smooth... However, got the same problem that you encountered. Then gotta press the "Red Button" to reset... Gotta wait for the stable and bug-free one to install....
Are you putting the android folder in the SD card or its contents?
from the froyo ZIP I extract everything to the rood of the sd card. I've always understood that's the way you're supposed to do it....
Where are you supposed to put the files?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the help.in the end you're supposed to create Android folder not copy It's contents on the root
Works perfectly now, and thoroughly enjoying Android

actually finding out what it's looking for in the card is the key for fixing the problem.. like for example, if it's looking for the rootfs.img, then that means it's looking for the wrong folder and/or you have to edit your boot parameter to correct it or move certain files to the folder to get it working correctly.. so make a note of what it's looking for when you boot it up again and then come back here and let us know to get a better response on how to fix your problem
It's booting that there is no Rootfs.img in the SD but i checked it, even tried putting new rootfs file and deleting the old one... same thing happened. I can only get into Android on First boot any after that it gives me no bootfs.img in SD error ...
I'm having the same problem. I have tried restarting immediately after booting into linux without loading any apps and I have tried downloading apps. It will always boot correctly the first time and then it will freeze at Root.fs
One Solution I found is that when you go into the SD card and delete the Android folder it works again... so far there is no harm to anything yet, all you do is delete the android folder then restart haret file again and you are back into your android OS with everything saved the way you left it... must be something in the startup files in a lot of these builds. anyways if anyone knows how to fix it without deleting the android folder please let us know.

hmmmm.. why do you have to delete the Android folder?? what android build are you using?? where did you extract the Android build on your card?? is the haret.exe and clrcad.exe inside the same folder as the initrd.gz, rootfs.img, data.img etc??? one way to find out is make sure you extract the "Android" folder on the root of your microSD card.. also, make sure that there's no subfolder named "Android" inside the "Android" folder, as i know some build compresses the Android folder inside another android folder or sometimes inside the folder of the builds name.. also, copy and paste your startup here so we can see what folder is it looking for on your android build.. because, if you're getting the can't find the rootfs.img error, it means that it's searching for the wrong location or the haret.exe is not inside the android folder or in the same folder as your rootfs.img and initrd.gz etc..
Are u running directly off root? I think the builds you are running are expecting to run within an android directory off root?

The problem is very easy. When you have the USB cable connected on an active connection to the PC, most WM-roms will not show the storage card on the phone itself. Try a normal powersource, not a computer, and it should work just fine.
Right now i was looking for a plugin/hack so the storage card stays visible even though there is a computer-connection. I know some roms do this, but can't find the individual files to do so.
hi all,
first of all, sorry for my lack of knowledge..
im trying to get an android build working on my hd2, ive hard spl'd, and updated the radio too one everyone seems to say works fine, copy the decompressed files on to the memory card root, labeled android (two sub folders labeled data1024 and data512) run clrcad and then harat, some tiny text appears, its then changes to a black background with htc written on in green. it stays on this screen indefinitely..
I presume im doing something wrong.. ive checked another memory card, reformatted etc but no change, Im hoping not to need to task 29 it.
thanks in advance!

You need to move one of the data files into the android folder then delete the 2 folders - try that.
thanks for the reply, still is stopping at the boot stage... am I going to need to flash a new rom? thanks!

You are aware that files are to be copied to a folder, in general called android, and not to the root of your SD card?
