I was able to download Google Wallet straight off the market this morning without having to use any workarounds. If you have an I9020T on T-Mobile USA, give it a try.
I'm not seeing this on 4.0.3, is this something new with 4.0.4?

It could well be. I was setting up a freshly wiped install of 4.0.4 this morning when I noticed Google Wallet was showing and allowing me to download it.
Try opening this link on your phone: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.walletnfcrel and when it prompts you, open it in the Play Store. It should let you download it.
I get the message "This item isn't available by your carrier."
After upgrading to 4.0.4, it still doesn't work for me. I had Google Wallet on my T-Mobile Nexus S before I moved to ICS, but I haven't been able to get it back since.
Are there tricks to downloading this from Google Play, such as Market Enabler? Presuming you can trick the market into allowing you to download Google Wallet, are there any missing libraries which would prevent it from working?

Same here, but my phone has had 4.0.4 (via OTA) for a while now. Perhaps there is a bug in the stock market.
Though I already have wallet installed by sideloading it.
Wait i have a galaxy s ii not rooted on TMobile and on 4.0.3 and i can download it fine on the play store but it doesn't run

Okay, so I just got my Nexus 7 last week, the same day as the new update for google wallet to come out. So I started by defrosting wallet with titanium backup on stock and it would say it "Is not supported in your country" because I live in Canada. Just to clear things up, it is also a US model, so it can't be the Canadian ones vary. Now I have AOKP installed and I have tried wallet again and will receive the warning "google wallet is not compatible with your carrier or network" Which seems like it is less progress then on the stock rom. I have tried market enabler, using the older modaco patched apk and have still had no luck. I've been researching trying to find an updates apk and still have not had luck. Does anyone have this working yet or know what I could do?

Hi, the reason i ask is because when i sideload apps from my n7 to my xperia play, they install fine. When i try to do it to my brothers phone (its not the best of phones tbh) it always says app not installed.
So i just wondered what the reason could be? And could this be overcome by rooting and manually installing it?
Thanks
Not yet. Android Jelly Bean 4.2 will though. Read about it on google.
I mean check hardware specs ect, not the actual app for malware
I know this is a bit off topic.. But some apps will soon be verified by your device id. This is the same id that google wallet uses. It will make it so when you but a app on one device you can NOT install it on another.Ti Backup already has a built in way to help with this during back up restore.
The above is only from what i have read and is likely not totally true as its not implemented yet so who really knows .

It's because the phone is not compatible with what you are trying to install (either in hardware or minimum Android OS version).
Is the app you are trying to install offered to the phone on the official Google marketplace? If not, then there is a reason why.....

Nope, its not offered, but sometimes they can work when not offered.
I was just wondering if that was simply the reason, or if the apps generally cant install on a phone without specific specs, i.e android version X or multitouch
Thanks for the answer
i forgot about this.. I have used aptoide to side load a few apps that i know work on nexus 7 but in the play store show not compatible..This is not meant to Pirate apps.. I used this to install a messenger app that would not install and a few games that i have purchased...
I keep flashing a custom themed version of Google Play but it keeps updating itself shortly after I install. I cannot find googleupdater.apk. I usually delete phonesky before I flash. Lucky patcher app doesn't work for it either. I am on 4.4.2. Anyone run into this before?

Did you check Google play app settings and uncheck auto update
Edit....
Just noticed lucky patcher custom patch for self update

My problem is not with apps updating. Its with the play store itself updating. I want to stop it... don't know how. Anyone successful in this? Again, I'm on 4.4.2.

Did you read my edit about lucky patcher

Yes... I did that. Lucky Patcher makes a phonesky.odex file that's supposedly meant to prevent an autoupdate but it still eventually auto updates phonesky.apk anyways, giving me the ugly normal play store.

After some digging around, apparently Google Services Framework seems to be the culprit. They have updated it in such a way that replacing it (and vending/phonesky.apk) with an older version causes it to stop working.
If you dare clear the data from GSF, You'll be unable to sign into Google nor the play store, and the only way to fix it is to factory reset or to restore a backup if you have one. This seems to be the case only if you're on 4.4.x. JB and ICS don't have this problem for some reason because I had no issues using a modded color themed version of Google Play.
Hopefully someone will take notice and create a fix.
Is it just me or has anyone else faced problems downloading and installing new apps from Google Play Store? I'm on Google Play Store build version 4.9.13 & Google Play Services version 6.1.11 (1474901-036). Even the older apps are not getting updated. The download/install status bar just keeps running forever. I have even done a factory reset but that hasn't helped. Any help in this regard would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
The same for me last month.... After flash a couple of roms, now finally work fine, and I can download from Google play store.

Which ROM did you flash? Was it stock ROM? If so, which version? I would really appreciate your help.
It's happened to me with discovery elite, try with aosp, and works good, return to discovery, but not works, try xsoul, and no works, return to discovery, and now works fine.
Got my new phone today.
It had the most recent update ready and I installed.
I know there has been several updates recently. Would all the prior updates have already be installed on the phone or do I need to get them from somewhere.
If I recall I have to load the essential camera app from the play store
THanks for your help
If your phone says no more updates are available then everything is current.
You ca't get the Google camera app from the Play Store, you'll need to download it from the camera thread in this same section and install it yourself.
OK thanks.

the stock essential camera app version is 0.1.078. If you dont have this version then you should get an update notification soon from the app store, as well as de the essential resourses app and another essential app.
