Hey guys, I have no access to kindle fire library, which allows you to access free Prime account books. I have never been able to access these since I bought the Fire, which I immediately ran burritoroot, installed golauncher, gapps, etc. I went as far as to call tech support to see if I am not accessing the right settings, but did not want to give away my modifications to the software.
i do know you can get video blocked by amazon for having root performed, but i DO have access to video, if this helps any.
Any advice?
nevermind, found it!

So I received my Kindle Fire for Christmas, and I'm in the UK. My uncle from the US brought it over for me, and I hope this post will clear up any speculation about what will and will not work on your Kindle Fire in the UK.
1. Apps: Apps need a US credit card, or you cannot download from the Kindle Store. This was not really an issue for me, as I rooted my Fire, installed the Market, and can download from there, not to mention sideloading APK file apps, which I was able to do without rooting
2. Silk: Works fine, uses EC2 cloud like it should
3, Book Store: Haven't tried it, but I was able to download books I had purchased previously for my old Kindle
4: Prime: You get a month's free of Amazon Prime, I wasn't able to stream videos from it, and I don't really care, I don't want to pay 70 dollars + a year for it.
Everything else works fine, and I really love it. The only other issue, was during the set up, there is no option to select the UK time zone, so you have to change it manually from the settings later. Oh, and all the temperatures in the weather app are in Fahrenheit. But it works like a charm. Got lots of working apps, Minecraft, Fruit Ninja, Angry Birds, and I'm using Calibre library to convert my PDFs into .MOBI format for reading on the Fire.
So all in all, it works pretty well in the UK actually! Hope this clears everything up for people in the UK thinking of getting it somehow. If I've missed anything please tell me!
Would also like to use the Kindle Fire in the UK but without rooting.
You mentioned being able to sideload apps ... but in order to do so, don't you need to download a file manager from the Amazon store (which a UK person cannot do)? and / or use an Android phone to backup an app?
I tried to download free apps from Amazon but even that is not possible and I don't have an Android phone .... is there any other way to sideload??
regards ....

Before rooting I was able to sideload by downloading directly using the Fire, then using the browser, going into the menu, and seeing my downloaded, from that file list you can launch APKs.
I'm using it in the Czech Republic and I can confirm that all the things mentioned by "georgeos" are valid.
If anyone is interested, here are some of my own findings:
- Books - you can purchase books from Amazon as long as you have a valid card number. You're eligible to borrow some of the books in the store with Prime subscription (limited to one book a month).
- Newsstand - same as above - you can check most of the magazines with a 14 day free trial subscription.
As far as the sideloading goes, it's pretty simple even without access to the App Store.
First you need to turn on installation of applications from unknown sources. Then use the browser to look for an .apk file of your preffered file manager (I used ES File Explorer since it was free and came highly recommended). Once the download is completed tap the status bar to show the recent notifications, then tap the downloaded .apk file to start the installation.

Ah yeah, sorry, forgot to mention that. But it is best to root the device, and install the Android Market, makes getting apps easier if you don't want to pirate the APKs, or if you're looking for the latest version of a free one, and it's always difficult to find a latest version APK. Also the Market shows ONLY the apps compatible with the device, so you don't have to go through the pain of downloading the APK and then it not working and having to uninstall it and delete it.
Hi - I've been searching around for about half an hour or so but can't find an "idiot's guide" (for that is what I need) on how to make my US Kindle Fire compatible with the UK app store.
I've asked Amazon directly a number of times but they refuse to help. I'm close to selling up and buying a UK one, so would really appreciate if anyone knew if there was a way to do this.
Many thanks in advance.
Purchase kindle fire games with gift card from Asia
please some one help me. yesterday i have purchased a amazon gift card of 10$ and added to my amazon account but when i try to purchase any kindle fire game it says that its only valid for US residents. what should i do any proxy server, vpn connection or could anyone purchase for me if i give you my login id.
Any HELP Please.
Rooted with Go Launcher, but can't read books. The Amazon Kindle application opens, but doesn't find anything on the device. There are books on the device.
If I switch back to the stock launcher, my books are there fine, and I can read them.
Anyone have this issue? Clearly a big issue if you rooted but still want to use it primarily as a book reader.
When you want to read your books, click on the old launcher and use it to read the book. Not a real problem. Being rooted is not an issue reading books, just Amazon Prime which you can fix with OTA Rootkeeper.
Why do you need OTA rootkeeper if you have permanent root?
Because Amazon Videos (Prime) doesn't work with root. You have to un-root to use it.
Anyone know if there is a way to access the stock bookstore when rooted? I'd like to be able to access the lending library but the store link in the stock launcher takes me to the web store and not the fire version. I am rooted but have temp unrooted using ota rootkeeper. Prime video is working.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

the way I did it was I downloaded the amazon kindle app from the google market. then I mounted my kindle as a disk drive in my pc and copy pasted the book files to the folder the app has for books. now all my books are there when I open the app
Yikes, it's worse than I thought. I assumed it was only in Go Launcher that there were no books.
But I switch back to the Amazon launcher, go into the book tab, or document tab, and none of the books I downloaded are there.
Music files are there and play with the music player.
Pictures are there and play with the gallery
Videos are there, and play in the video player
All the new applications I installed rooted in Go Launcher are there and work
but...the four books are there in the correct folder (books), I can see them when it's connected as a Windows drive, but they don't show up in the launcher under the Books or any other tab.
My wife will kill me. She wanted this primarily as a book reader.
Thanks in advance.
I just use the Amazon Kindle app from the Market to read books using Go Launcher for Tablets.
That didn't work for me either. When I click "On Device", it doesn't show me any of the four books.
Just so there is no confusion, I read these four book files (well, tested them) before starting the rooting procedure, so I know that the formats are OK etc.
This is really weird. My Kindle is rooted and I have no issues with Kindle books. All of my books are still there. So there were books on the device but after you rooted they are all gone?

Did you place them in the Kindle folder?
Edit: I just copied a book that I had on my Galaxy Nexus in the Kindle folder to the Kindle folder on my Fire and it showed up in the Kindle app.
The books are not physically gone, the files are all there, but they can't be seen with the stock launcher or Go Launcher.

Try reinstalling the Kindle app from the Market or clear the app data for the one you have installed.
This happens if you downloaded the Amazon Kindle App from the Android Market.
When you download the Android Market version it overwrites the stock version without saving your data.
The fix for this is simple.
[*] Go to Settings-->More-->Applications-->All Applications-->Amazon Kindle
[*] Click "Clear Data" and "Uninstall Updates"
If you did it correctly then it should've reverted back to the stock version(v4.1.2.12)
*But if that does not work, here the original stock version .apk:
LINK: http://db.tt/49Efe35z
Now you will have the stock version, but you will not see any books.
Don't worry though, because all books you purchase from Amazon are linked to your account.
*You need to use your PC for these next few steps!
[*] Log in to your Amazon Account and go to Your Digital Items-->Your Kindle Orders
Now you should see a list of books you have purchased for your Kindle Fire.
[*] Click on "Actions" and choose "Deliver to my Kindle" OR "Download and Transfer via USB"
IF YOU CHOSE: "Deliver to my Kindle"
[*] Go to SETTINGS-->SYNC and you should see your book appear.
IF YOU CHOSE: "Download and Transfer via USB"
[*] Download your book to your PC.
[*] After downloading, use your USB cable to connect your computer and Kindle Fire. Your Kindle Fire will appear as a drive on your computer.
[*] Copy your downloaded file from your computer to your Kindle Fire's documents folder.
IF YOU CANNOT CONNECT YOUR KINDLE FIRE TO YOUR PC FOR WHATEVER REASON:
[*] Download your book to your PC.
[*] Upload the book to Dropbox or the cloud storage service of your choice(eg. Box, SugarSync, etc.)
[*] Now go to your Kindle Fire and download the book.
[*] Move the downloaded book to the "Documents" section of your Kindle Fire.
Hope this helps!
Thanks

For anyone looking for a solution, I found it, at least I can now see and read all my books on the stock launcher.
All I did was uninstall the Amazon Kindle application, and somehow, that allowed me to see books from the Amazon default launcher.
I don't know if I can try installing again and if that will let me read both in the Go Launcher and Amazon Launcher. I will try and let you know.
Perfect. That completely fixed my problem as well. Thanks!

During the several days it took to get rooting straight (and it's working perfectly now thanks to [-_-] ), I remember reading something about steps required to access the Kindle Store (Amazon) after you have hacked your Fire. I can no longer seem to find those notes. I'm trying to access books already purchased by my wife on her Amazon Account. I've already de-registered my Fire from my account and re-registered it on her account, but I don't seem to have access to her books. Can someone point me to the correct thread or let me know what I need to do?
The only "hack" needed is with relationship to Amazon Video Prime. where you need to use something like OTA Rootkeeper to allow the app to not see you are rooted.
As for books, you have to access them via the default launcher and use sync to use the default book reader.
don't know about purchasing books but to use amazon video you have to use ota rootkeeper to temporary unroot
hope this helps ...
Thanks for the quick responses. I didn't seem to be able to access my wife's books after I DE-registered it from my account and then re-registered it to hers. None of the books would load. Now that I've gone back to my own account, all my books are missing and I can't wirelessly load them. I WAS able to download them to my PC and then copy them via USB to my Fire. I'll have to take a look at installing the OTA Rootkeeper.
Thanks again.
glad to help ...

Do you still have the stock Kindle app installed or did it get updated during your rooting process. Mine updated at some point and screwed everything up.
If you go into your app management and uninstall the kindle reader, it should uninstall the updates and take it back to the stock reader app. Then loading up books through the stock launcher cleared up all of the issues on my end. Give it a try.
Simply clearing the data on the kindle app might fix the issue too, though without knowing how deeply Amazon login is integrated it might take more than just a data clear on the Kindle part (because the reader is still just an app).
Amazon prime video service wouldn't work but this app fixed all.
After using this app I just restarted KF and service is working again.
My son has a Fire HD 8 tablet that thanks to you all, I have installed LineageOS 7.1.2 on. It runs great now, but we'd like to install an application that is only available in the Amazon App store and designed to run only on stock FireOS. I think the app would run perfectly fine on the tablet with Lineage installed, but unfortunately the Amazon App store no longer recognizes the tablet as a Fire tablet and therefore blocks our ability to download the app.
Is there some sort of workaround that could be tried here? I've read about people modifying build.prop to spoof the device type and run "unsupported" apps, so perhaps that is the route we'd take here? I'm just sort of stumped here and really don't want to go buy another fire tablet just so we can run stock fire os for his game.
The apps in question are the Osmo kids learning series. Any help would be very much appreciated.
*edit - i have searched for .apks of the app online that would allow me to manually install, but i have been unable to turn any up.

Get Amazon Appstore for Android on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/get/amazonapp
Hello everyone! I'm sure this has been discussed in part in other threads, but I want to see what the best way to do this is (if it's possible), and how to do it.
I have a stock Amazon HD 8 (10th generation) tablet running 7.3.26 (November 1th 2022). I can get the Amazon Fire Toolbox to run fine on it, and it enables me to download and run an app from the Google App store that isn't available on the Fire store. My issue is I'm going to be giving hand this tablet (and a couple others like it) off to other people where I want them to be able to only open this app, and not access anything else on the tablet. Is there a way to set up a "child" profile or something like that on this tablet so only the one app could be accessed? Does it involve rooting? If someone can point me in the right direction (and hopefully link instructions) as well, I would greatly appreciate it.
