I'm on Ginger Xperia V24b, but a new version is out: [ROM] GingerXperia||ESPECIAL EDITION|| nAa kernel ANDROID 2.3.7 GINGERBREAD CM7.
V25nAa is out now, do I need to do a full wipe if I want to upgrade?
When I selecet to Reboot into Xrecovery, then FreeXperia X8 Recovery v001 starts up instead.. whats up with that? And can I use it all the same? I wanted to get gapps, downloaded it from http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_Version#Google_Apps , but they don't have any for my Xperia 8, what am I suppose to do?
I also have Clockwork Mod v3.2 I have now tried to use it, selected install from zip, found the gapps .. said its done. Then I tried to Fix permissons, but that process is stuck :/
DUALBOOTING 2 NeatRom (Stock NeatRom and NeatRom AOSP)...
revisions in blue color...
I decided to create this thread for all NeatRomers who likes to experience both the NeatRoms on your phone...
With this, you will avoid flashing from one NeatRom to another NeatRom...
I got no problems using both NeatRom (the only problem is, I can't decide which one to use)...
So I keep on booting from one NeatRom to another...hahaha...:laugh::laugh:
So for those who want to try dualbooting but afraid or lazy like me to read all necessary thread...
This step is for you guys...Good luck...
Requirements..
1. AOSP NeatRom...
2. Modified Stock NeatRom...
3. Dorimanx Kernel (I stongly suggest to download branch 8.43v76, only known stable release so far)...
4. Minimum of 3gb space on your internal storage...
Setting up 1st Rom (AOSP NeatRom)...
1. Back up back up back up...(I suggest Obackup for backing up and Nandroid Manager for Restoring or Titanium)...or Nandroid will do...Make sure to have a minimum of 3gb on your internal storage...
2. Download and flash compatible CWM for Kitkat...
3. Reboot to Recovery (not boot)...
4. Wipe everything (data, cache, dalvik) and format (system, cache, data, preload) >>>need to do this to avoid any fc's again and complain blah blah blah...
5. Flash our dear latest NeatRom AOSP and Gapps...
6. Reboot to Recovery again (not boot)...(this recovery will be TWRP, for those who hate TWRP don't panic, just tap on Install button)
7. Flash Kernel_Dorimanx-V8.43v76-Comp-[00-21]-[17-02]-JB-SGII-PWR-CORE.zip....
8. Reboot to Recovery again (not boot)...(now your back on CWM recovery)
9. Flash this to downgrade into MaliV2 (necessary for KK dualbooting with JellyBean)...
10. Reboot and enjoy the 1st Rom...(in here you've successfully installed NeatRom AOSP on 1st Rom)...
You may omit or skip step 10 and proceed to step 11 if you want to continuously install the 2nd Rom (I prefer this one to avoid booting the 1st Rom immediately)...
Setting up 2nd Rom (Stockbase NeatRom)...
11. Reboot to Recovery again (not boot)...
12. Go to mount and storage then format /cache, /system and /data for secondary rom...(do this only if you face black screen or bootloop after first try dualboot installation)
13. Go to dual-boot option...
14. Wipe data/cache and dalvik-cache for 2nd Rom (this will take long as it prepare the images needed for the 2nd rom)...
15. Still under dual-boot option, select flash zip from external/internal storage to flash modified Stock NeatRom (look for modified NeatRom and download from thread ROM KITKAT & SAMMY BASED MODIFIED FOR DUALBOOT...
16. Reboot...(not reboot on recovery anymore)...
17. Dori bootanimation it will ask you which Rom you want to boot...(press any key to boot 2ndRom or none for 1stRom)...
18. You may now restore your data using Nandroid Manager or other apps for restoring. (Optional)
19. Enjoy...
Updating 1st Rom (AOSP NeatRom)...No wipe...
1. Back up back up back up...(I suggest Obackup for backing up and Nandroid Manager for Restoring or Titanium)...or Nandroid will do...
2. Download and flash compatible CWM for Kitkat...
3. Reboot to Recovery (not boot)...
4. Wipe only cache and dalvik...
5. Flash the updated NeatRom AOSP and Gapps...
10. Reboot and enjoy the 1st Rom...(in here you've successfully updated NeatRom AOSP on 1st Rom)...
Updating 2nd Rom (Stockbase NeatRom)...No wipe...
1. Reboot to Recovery...
2. Go to dual-boot option...
3. Wipe only dalvik-cache for 2nd Rom (this time it will not take long)...
4. Still under dual-boot option, select flash zip from external/internal storage to flash modified Stock NeatRom (look for modified NeatRom and download from thread ROM KITKAT & SAMMY BASED MODIFIED FOR DUALBOOT...

FAQ's (by me)...
1. Where is the preload folder of AOSP NR?...
- there is no preload folder for Kitkat...
2. How about the preload folder of NR v5.6 (2nd Rom)?
- it is located at /data/sec_data...
3. Can I swap both Rom?
- yes, you may do it in dual-boot option under recovery mode..
4. Why 2GB+ was taken from my internal storage?...
- see /sdcard0/.secondrom (there is an image file used for dualboot).
5. Can I flash other MOD?
- AFAIK if the mods has nothing to do with preload and system folder you may proceed. (I hope somebody can give us a help to modify those MOD to be able to flash specially those MOD for NR v5.6)
6. How's the battery life?
- So far so good. Again, battery drain / consumption will still depend on the phone user and apps that was installed.
7. Ram will reduce by 50mb (will be use for video driver of Dori I think, please correct me if am wrong guys)...
8. I forgot the other question...
That's all I think
List of things that is not working...
Maybe you will find few items that will not work, like the ff...
1. Light keys control on settings doesn't have effect (but you can use BLN to control it from Stweaks)

I tried Neatrom 2.5 AOSP and followed the procedure for setting up the 1st rom but it does not boot, goes into a blank screen, didnt reach the step for installing 2nd ROm, does this procedure work with 2.5 AOSP?
As per procedure,
1. Back up back up back up...(I suggest Obackup for backing up and Nandroid Manager for Restoring or Titanium)...Make sure to have a minimum of 3gb on your internal storage...
2. Download and flash compatible CWM for Kitkat...
3. Reboot to Recovery (not boot)...
4. Wipe everything (data, cache, dalvik) and format (system, cache, data) >>>need to do this to avoid any fc's again and complain blah blah blah...
5. Flash our dear latest NeatRom ASOP and Gapps...
Does Step 5 have to be a dual boot modified ASOP Neatrom or would a normal one work?
Also, is there a procedure to convert normal rom to dual boot rom?

Yes v2.5 will work also...modifiying v2.5 is not required...
Step 1-5 is just a normal procedure of installing a kk rom...
Have you manage installing v2.5 before?
Please check md5sum of rom and gapps before installing...

@marjune23 Thank you so much for guiding me how to dual boot both neat roms. Your methods and prompt PMs were really very helpful in saving my bandwidth and time
@Troubadour666 Thank you so much for your scripts/tools/guides and elaborated posts etc etc.. I was able to learn how to modify update_script and symlink_preload to configure the second rom's config for dual boot.
Next time I will help others in creating the modified second rom (any rom not only neat)
@marjune23 : I have successfully dual booted neat aosp (1st) and neat lite 5.8 (2nd) using dori 8.43v76 kernel. But i see the 2nd rom is very very laggy. i remember neat roms to be very fluidic. Just want to know whether it is because it is installed as 2nd rom?
if so, and if i swap roms will it be faster?
Weird...my is not laggy...both runs smooth...Try swapping it...

Unfortunately today i did not succeed to upload also "SlimKat 4.9 weekly 3921 - 2014.05.05" : i will on monday.
To all: feel free to request the port of any Galaxy S I9000 or Vibrant rom.
When i will have some spare time i will port them to Captivate.

Thank You.
Mainly Semaphore Kernel has the merit to make "SlimKat stable 3" so fast.
You can tweak it with Semaphore Manager app (i suggest SmartassV2 and ROW)
Maybe i will incorporate Semaphore Kernel in next ports...
On the other hand if i use CM11 as standard kernel, users can flash later Semaphore or NeatKernel, and maybe reflash rom if they want CM11 kernel.
So they have 3 different kernel options (CM11, Semaphore and NeatKernel)
only kitkat?

I was also going to ask for this but kind of hesitated since it is ICS. People using this are extremely happy with it.
Also @Monfro could you please add the Md5ums of the files if it is not much trouble?

Probably this week i will work on it; i have seen too a lot of people happy with it.
From my personal experience i remember that AOKP was the fastest ICS rom, and when 4.1 Jelly Bean was out it was smoother, thanks to project butter. So i think that 4.1 and 4.3 should be both faster than 4.0 ICS. Anyway we will see soon...
I have noticed that i made a mistake on both versions of OmniRom i posted.
I uploaded the new corrected versions, so OmniRoms now are good to go.

It packs GearKernel for ICS, not universal version.
It should be ok.
I decided to use it since it is based on Semaphore, also adding OC steps and it is updated.
There are also a lot of other ICS kernels available.
If you want to be sure before flashing make a backup of EFS folder.
If you will lose the IMEI flash a 4.3 rom like Slim and IMEI will be back.
I forget to write that the rom and kernel have the BigMem mod.
Please report feedbacks on this and other roms.
And also on kernels for 4.4.2 roms...better to use as stock NeatKernel, Semaphore or plain CM11??

Dear Monfro,
It goes like this:
1: Boot to recovery.
2: Wipe data + cache
3: install MackayROM CM9 from sd card:: It restarts itself and boot to recovery.
4: install from sd card/ external_sd :: and then no memory exists there.
5: I have to go back to stock every time.

I forget CM9 is on an old partition layout.
Flash the first time: it converts partitions to the layout used in CM9, then it reboots to the recovery just flashed.
It is normal this way.
Flash the second time: it installs the rom.
But you can't since /sd card and /external_sd are not mounted.
Try this: flash one of the semaphore kernel i linked. reboot recovery and then flash rom.
Tomorrow or the day after i will post again the rom with some modifications.
