The wildfire has a really good battery already
No need to calibrate imo. Can last 2+ days for me when I don't abuse the wifi and games.
First feedback.....no noticable difference seen.....What do seem to help is to charge you phone longer even after green light indicates that battery is full.....For me than takes longer to go from 100 to 99.

How do you do this? I'm doing everything, I underclock my phone down to 160-245 Mhz, I turn on my wifi only when I have to, I keep my phone in airplane mode permanently, I constantly run on display turned down to max. And yet I've yet got to witness my phone going over 18h uptime. Do you run a custom ROM or something?

I find the same thing, and have even been thinking of returning it because it can't last longer than 24hrs. I have even restored to stock and hard reset, so no apps added or anything, BT/WIFI off and the battery life still sucks.

Yes I've tried openfire rom and wildpuzzle rom. Battery lasts as I have stated. I also use setcpu to set up profiles when phone screen is off to help it a little
Would also like to add that on the stock rom, the battery lasts long as well but custom rom is better
My phone is a stock. But as you can see, the battery life leaves a lot of room for improvement. How can I increase ir?
Not sure, but after rooting my battery life improved signigficantly, and it also charges fast than before... htc wildifire.
ok so i charged my phone to 100% and left it on my table untouched last night when i got to sleep, left it in my pocket today at uni without using wifi/games, just to check the time, is currently still at 99% with up time of 14hrs so far.
and if you want to maximise your battery life with stock rom, lower brightness, disable auto sync of accounts, disable 3g if you're not using it, try juice defender, i think that might help you guys.

Hmm strange, I have installed it and icon shows normally in application list.
I went through the calibration process and my battery life has increased significantly. Currently I have 5 hours and 12 minutes of uptime with occasional phone calls and some wifi usage - battery is at 99%.
I find that battery life is all about how strong ur signal is.
At home i get a full 3g signal, battery lasts about 30 hours with my syncs on all day, couple of hours of wifi and maybe 30 mins of gaming and about 30mins of phone calls.
When i'm at work and the signal fluctuates i get about 20 hours average.
When i was in a restaurant for a party recently from 7pm to midnight, there was hardly any signal and i used about 60% of the battery in 5 hours!
At the end of the day if the battery lasts for 18hours with all my stuff turned on then i won't complain as the phone does everything you need except make the tea!
I mean what's the point of turning all the smartphone stuff off? Might as well just go and buy a Nokia.

I faced the same problem, since rooting my wildfire. Can someone answer. Tks
after getting 2.1 update..my phones battery life has become more horrible.
when i am out clubbing, phone doesnt even last 8 hours.
most friends with Blackberries keep their 3G switched on always so they can use whatsapp or BBM
but for me..if i keep 3G on..the battery wont last for few hours..
how are you guys dealing with this problem?
i am thinkin of buying an extra battery and keeping it in my pocket when out.
or thinkin of upgrading to some other android phone with froyo
My phone is lasting 2 days now.. I did find a few things that were killing my battery though (Handscent bug on unread text messages, some self updating widgets I was using.. ).. suggest you try to suss out what's preventing the phone from sleeping and ditch the app, or replace with one that doesn't cause the problems...
(I've also rooted, enabled JIT, removed Timescape and a few of the other std apps too but don't really think that any of that made much difference to my battery)

1% in 3-4 hours ..u mean standby time?
standby time is pretty decent by default anyway
but usage time is very very low.
Disable face recognition service. I get ~3-4 days of light usage now and can do a full day at heavy usage no problem.
i'm losing 3% an hour on standby and i have nothing running, how do you guys last 1-2 days?
that looks like you have such a lot of battery draining apps.
do this:
charge the phone all the night and in the morning turn it off.
instead of turning it on with the power button, press the MENU button and the power button both at the same time.
after you see the sony ericcson logo release the power button, keep the MENU button pressed until the phone boots up
now you are in safe mode
in this mode all your start-up apps won't boot, only the needed by the system.
Keep this way all day long and by the night check your battery indicator, if it is way too much diferent than before, blame your apps.
Also remove timescape, this will give you around 15% more of battery life.
btw: make a shorcut on the homescree of your whatsapp and everything you need to stay communicated, because they won't be on the apps drawer

Custom b006 is also great at battery life. I have 3g always enabled and connect a lot to wifi at home and my battery is at about 60% after a full day of usage.
Another tip, if you want to stick with original firmware, you could try data on demand. This enables mobile data connection only when screen is on and saves you a lot of battery.
Sent from custom AOSP 2.1 using XDA App
Battery life has been greatly improved in 2.1 so I would be checking what apps you've installed because it's more than likely due to one.
If you don't use/configure Timescape, it doesn't take battery life. No need to uninstall. I haven't, and I can get two days, with plenty of usage.
I've found, though, if you reboot the phone after giving it a full charge, it tends to work a lot better. Yesterday, after using the phone for a few hours at/after work, I was at 70%. Played Angry Birds for 30 minutes, brought it down to 60%, and it was 56% by bed time.
I don't know how you guys are getting 2 days or more... for me, I'm struggling to get through the 24 hour period !!
Between, I don't like to turn off the data or stop syncing this and that sort of things. Stopping these to save on the battery, must get a old Nokia phone which can last a week without a charge.
Give any real advice other than this if possible.
Did u check whether ur battery usage have high "cell standby" consumption? I know mine has bloody high 40%...believe this is one of the culprit...
Compared with wife's x10 mini...hers superb battery life easily 3 days normal use..with 0% cell standby...argh..
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I've said it before... Bad apps or bad widgets cause the battery to drain when on standby..
If you are getting substantial drain when your not using the phone then it's bad apps or bad widgets preventing your phone from sleeping.. when sleeping (even with wifi/ 2G/ 3G and syncing switched ON) you should be seeing between 1-3% per hour depending on how much you have syncing.
I've got FB syncing, auto sync on google sync (contacts, calendar), and googlemail push all on, all the time.
You need to work out what's at fault and find an alternative which doesn't cause the problems.
Also when you just updated your phone is doing all kind of stuff in the background. After a few days it is much better already, my phone last now for 2 days without any task killing application, but I did remove a lot of useless default crap using titanium backup application...

Hmm without 3G / Data enabled I can use my phone for 3 to 5 days because I only use them when I needed it only. My friends have it enabled everytime and he gets about 1 days and a half in quite poor reception area, maybe other setting also affect battey life? because I think the x10 battery life is comparable to my previous nokia e52 with 1500 mAh battery in similar condition (3g / data and gps active only when needed).
Battery time on 2.1
Hello i'm a x10 owner and after the upgrade at 2.1 mi battery time is more than awful around 1,5 days on 1.6 i have the battery up to minimum 3 days, i use advanced tak killer on 1.6 i had es task killer (much better than advanced task) but on 2.1 if i select kill all it turnes of my signal and my sd card and if i select kill when scren off when i'm in a call and the scren goes of bye bye signal and convesation ( what to do??????????????????????????????
And a anoyng thing i have many aplications that run by themselfs like yahoo messenger & mail, youtube, gesture search, and 2or3 more the question is whyyy? I never touch them and they are running i think thats why my battery dies so quick please helppp, i was weryyyy happy with my battery time on 1.6 now i hate 2.1 (
its not recommended to use a task killer on 2.1 as it has better task management

I was getting really fantastic battery life until today when I installed dolphin hd. I'm not sure why, but the moment I installed that, my battery could literally be watched dropping, even when it wasn't open. Once I got rid of it, my battery life then went right back to being great as it was before. The odd thing is, under battery usage, it wasn't showing up when it wasn't running, yet as it was the only change I made, and the sole factor in the change in battery life, I'm positive that's what it was. I'm curious how many people experiencing bad battery drain are using this browser.

I have all these and my battery life is fine, I don't think you get what I said at all. I think dolphin could be the cause of so many people having battery troubles, as once I installed it I started experiencing the same things they said, and then once I uninstalled it the problem was gone. I am back to about 1% an hour drop hen in standby, however with the dolphin installed (even when it wasn't running and I wasn't connected to wifi or 3g) I was dropping about 5-10% just in standby per hour.
Hmm.... might remove it and see if I can see a difference.. but my battery life isn't even horrible. A little worse than before maybe. But I'm getting a solid 10 hours at least.

freex10 severe Battery drain with latest X10i official SE update.
Running Beta 4 after factory SE updated yesterday on my X10i. I have severe battery drain. 89% after loading the freex10 beta4 with apps zip install and a TI restore of all my prior progs. Left the phone plugged in and charging overnight and this morning it was 4%. I am not using any special browsers. I am using Advanced Task Killer and killed all the programs before leaving the phone. Any ideas??
I really wish there was a way to dual boot with xrecovery.. that way we could use stock SE during the day because it has better battery life, and when we are near a charger we can use 2.2
I had the battery drain problem where I was losing 5 - 10% per hour after upgrading to beta 4. While I cannot prove it I think the drain is related to the baseband upgrade and how it interacts with 3g on AT&T. I can't turn off data as this is my work e-mail device. After some experimentation I found that switching to 2g "fixed" the problem. I took my phone off the charger 4 hours ago and with moderate e-mail use, 1 30 minute phone call and some XDA and web browsing I am at 91%. I added the 2g/3g to the power control widget and can quickly switch to 3g when I want/need the additional speed.
One other unintended benefit I found from 2G. For some reason my phone will not drop in certain areas where I drop calls every time I am on 3g.
Possibly due to wifi?
Ok guys so I re-did the OE factory SE update and re-did the xrecovery to redo freex10 beta4. all went well but I was to sleepy to setup the wifi. This morning my phone was fully charged and ready to go. I came into work and turned the wifi on to use on our network. Phones been on standby and wifi is set to be off with the display. Its only been 3 hours and my phone is at 10%. Why is wifi drawing so much power even when not in use?
So far I saw many causes in 2.2, check my list here
> Dolphin HD (from this OP? - unconfirmed)
> Stock Email get partial wakelock with exchange server.
> Dialer - partial wakelock (you might not feel it, but it is, compared to 2.1)
> Dialer - drainage when turn 'turn to silence' on (Call setting)
For Dolphin, well as I trusted in android system, I believe there might be something else 'between' dolphin and the battery, I don't think it's the dolphin itself. Since it doesn't report anywhere between spareparts or battery usage, or even CPU usage. I must admit that 2.1 is doing better in term of 'system stability' (not about hanging, crashing - but to handle when something go wrong)
I also must admit that using ATK in 2.2 is likely cause trouble, I used to have battery trouble and there was no way out before I turned to ATK. well, thing got 'weird' (it was not worse) If you feel something wrong, 3G trouble, some stupid force close, try disable ATK.
I never used ATK in the fresh install. Posibly the stock E-mail however I haven't set that up either. Its a shame as the rom is real good and appears stable other than the battery drain issue. I've already tried the Xrecovery wipe of battery stats, cache, etc with no luck. I may just stick with the factory SE rom till freex10 is no longer a beta..

it's been driving me crazy wondering why my batter drains so fast
Worth a shot for sure! I get 24 hours easily with heavy usage... It's a lot better for me than beta 3 was

I'm using beta 3 with constant 3g and dolphin hd. No problems. Batt drain is as usual with 2.1 original. I get about 1-1.5 days of usage, sometimes even 2.
I've unlocked and am running Ken's Alien ROM and so far I really like this. Im an international user on orange uk, so I use faux123's kernel for Oc and ram fix. But there is one caveat. I have really rubbish battery life. I did all the stuff (charge to 100% from 0% wipe stats, calibrate). The fact is, I left it on, for ten hours. The display was on for about 2. No usage. When I returned the battery was 30%, with phone idle consuming 30%. Newer radio needed? What can I do? My baseband is N_01.95.00R .
I've heard good things about the newest AT&T radio for battery. How can I flash this to an international ATRIX?
Help appreciated
Edit : phone idle consumed 40% :O
I have the exact same issue. Unfortunately, all that I can say is that changing neither kernel, radio or rom did fix this issue. I had some improvements when I followed this topic and flashed back my stock kernel (with no OC), but still very far from what I would consider a decent battery lifetime (10h with 3g + email and twitter sync and screen off)
Some users have tried and it worked well from them. I'm on the team that didn't work ): But you could give it a shot
Calibrate your battery. Charge to 100% wipe battery stats. Then discharge to shut off. Then charge to 100% again.

I've done all that stuff, but it doesn't help IMHO. (at least it didn't do anything for me)
Only 2 real fixes that have worked for me are these:
1. Freeze unnecessarily apps with Titanium Backup (use "System panel" from the Market to find out what keeps constantly running/popping up in the background that you don't need)
AND
2. Turn off Automatic Sync, and get in the habit of doing that stuff manually all at once.
@2. I use to sync in the worst signal areas, and that drained the **** out of my battery. Sync/get your updates manually in strong signal areas whenever possible...
New radio from the fruitcakes thread and the latest faux123 kernel seemed to kill that bug.
I sold my atrix to my less then nerdy friend and I just fixed that bug for him yesterday. Same deal tho...

I noticed from X2 battery (I think) every minute or two the phone constantly checks for either cell or data signal. I can let my iphone 4 sit on the counter all day and it might use 1-2% but my atrix drops 5% in an hour without touching it. No calibration or battery fix will help. Even CM7 uses it fairly quickly. Im running Alien 4 with max battery saver and gps and auto sync disabled...it should last for a full day with heavy usage.
Alien 4 w/theme, faux123 kernel, everything at stock settings for this rom, nothing frozen, and I am sitting at 1 day and 13 hours with 28% left, mostly idle, but an hour long call and bit of game playing.
If you are getting something on the order of just a few hours then your phone or battery must be bad. I am doing nothing to extend the battery life other then using the default settings.
The phone should get 2 days sitting on the counter..LOL Of all the phones I've had and iPhones I've jailbroken, there is definately something wrong with the Motorola or Android software running on this phone. I've never had to worry about calibrating or battery fixes. This is just my honest opinion. I've had 2 ROMs in all the ones I've flashed that had good battery life and I think it was a coincedence that maybe something didn't load right or got deleted by accident.

Most iphone users need to charge at LEAST once a day. A lot of them charge more than once. I can sometimes get 2 days usage from my Atrix, with heavy texting, some calls, and some games - which is pretty damn good.
Maybe your battery is the issue. not all Atrix are created equal and not all batteries function the same
When you go into settings>running apps, does your free and used ram add up to over 800? Mine used to and now it doesn't. It adds up to like 750....I always thought it would add up to mid to upper 800's. It also could be the battery but I was pointing out that I have left my wife's Iphone 4 and my atrix on the counter all day (neither one got used) and my atrix was down in the 70% range and her phone was at 96%. I'm just thinking something is running or consuming the battery. I've used fastboot to do all wipes and still seem to be having an issue.... I also flash ROMs every few days so maybe the battery calibration doesn't have time to really calibrate. I'll pick a combo I like and keeep it for a few days and see if I notice a better battery life.
How long has it been since you've flashed a ROM? It usually takes a few days for it to settle back in and provide decent battery life (at least from my experience). My phone right now has been on for a little over 7 hours and is at about 55% with Display using up 60% of the battery (3hrs on). This is with the Alien v4 and Faux's latest kernel. The first few days after flashing a ROM my phone would usually only last about 7 hours.
i get 2-3 days on stand by. and about 6-8 hours of straight use. 3-5 if i'm using mobile broadband.
1: keep gps and data off (background data is almost irrelevant.)
2: use green power
3: use a task manager to close applications that you are not using. (be sure you can add "ignore" exceptions otherwise get a different manager. anyone who says not to use a task manager is a ****ing punk hipster ***** fag who's irreparable damage to the geeks good name will not go unpunished)
4: do the "wipe battery stats" bit after every flash (100% charge, wipe stats, full discharge)
5: is to install a custom kernel and use SetCPU to underclock to 312 while the screen is off..
most importantly: use your head. if you stream 1080p using mobile broadband for 2 hours your battery is dead.
I flash ROMs every few days but I call BS on the whole "Battery Calibration" thing. If my battery is showing 4200mv...it's full. It will die faster the more processes the phone does so my point it....whether I flash a rom every day it shouldn't matter, if the phone (After I set up and install whetever apps) gets unplugged, something drains the battery. Maybe the infra red sensor is always on, or a process is always starting and ending, who knows but the battery cannot be calibrated, the phone might need to be calibrated to read the correct voltage but batteries don't hold memory unlike the old NiCD rechargables from years ago.
When you flash a rom the battery stats get messed up. Based on what I know the way the battery drains depends on previous battery usage data hence the reason why it last longer after a few days of use after a rom is flashed. It needs to build up new data to correctly report battery use. Maybe I'm wrong but my experience supports this.

I am running Alien v4 with the stock kernel and I am getting well over a day with pretty heavy usage (phone calls, texts, emails, FB, twitter, XDA, Games). My setup:
Battery Mode= Maximum Battery Savings
Auto Brightness off, usually on 30%
Unused blur apps frozen
Reinstalled performancemanager.apk (blur task manager), set to kill unnecessary apps after 2 minutes of inactivity
No overclock, I don't see the need to overclock outside of high benchmark scores. Without overclock I still play every game smoothly without any hickups or slow downs. The phone still feels super fast without it.
I turn off all unused services (gps, bluetooth, wifi)
After you charge your phone and take it off the charger, reboot it.
It seems that a process kills the phones battery after you take it off the charger. You have to reboot after taking it off. It works wonders. Currently on 16 hours of use @ 45% battery on alien rom with stock kernel.
Cheers.

I use the same battery settings recently. I turn off GPS and Sync unless I'm using navigation. Which blur apps do you freeze? I just noticed (read on the Alien thread) On the unlock screen, hold the home button and it unlocks. I wonder if something like in pocket detection keeps the IR eye on all the time.

Later, I've found out, that auto brightness was set way too high and had to manually decrease the brightness levels. After that, power consumption dropped to about -5-7%/hour while doing the same tasks as before. The display value in battery use menu also dropped from 70% to 30%.
The idle battery drain is OK... about -1%/hour with only GSM network on.
IMHO if your x8 battery is draining too fast, check doixanh's FAQ and then check the brightness levels...
Hi,
I'm afraid that the battery consumption is not related to GingerDX itself but to the additional software and phone usage.
In order to improve battery life in GingerDX do the following:
1. REMOVE or freeze Google Maps (ownhere). Use a different software instead (like maverick pro 1.94, which has google maps enabled and it is not consumig your resources)
2. Also, you may want to remove dsp manager (use the built in equalizer in your favorite music player instead).
3. Disable data MANUALLY. Use the built-in power widget to disable mobile data when you're not using it. Don't use automated 3g disable software because it will drain your battery too.
Your battery should last for 2+ days with normal phone usage. No need to mess with the good working autobrightness, you can leave it on.
FroyoBread:
1d 7h 29m since unplugged - 71% battery left
That's pretty good, isn't it? (Sorry for "offtopic")
hello everyone, i just think that battery callibration and some apps freezed is enought for the battery drain... some apps like gmail, maps, maybe market..
for me the battery drain is normal
i´m using gingerdx V011
Wow Still battery drain use this Doixanh Suggestion
Clear battery stats in xRecovery
Freeze unused services (like Email, DSP Manager, Maps). This is important.
Don't set brightness too high
Don't install too many unused apps.
Turn off WiFi, 2G, 3G, GPS, Bluetooth when unused
Turn OFF LED Succession. It's turned of by default, but maybe there are some people still leaving it on.
Reboot after you listen to music. Music service caused battery drain (in the past) for me, even when I stopped listening to music.
Hi. Im using GDX v012 and I don't know if I'm having a battery drain..... in last night battery drop about 17-20% in standby... with all the things off (wifi, data, gps).
So, i went to check the graphs and i noticed that the cell was active during all night....
somebody can tell me why?
and second, maybe the battery drop a little faster because of my signal strength.. but not so fast....
GDX v012, DSPManager manually pushed back into the system and Google Maps + Streetview from the Market (can't live without it); apart from the apps I already had installed.
Depending on the usage of my phone (calls, WiFi, GPS) I get 1-3 days on a charge.
Mind you, I don't use the phone for listening to music or watching video [EDIT] or gaming; that's where my Liberty Tab G100 (mod-flashed into a Iconia A500) performs a whole lot better thanks to the Tegra 250 chipset and faster CPU [/EDIT].
I did a test and found that it consumes my battery is the signal strength that is weak in my location....
when i put my phone in airplane mode during all night, battery has not decreased even 1% ...
i have many apps installed, including maps etc etc
GingerDX v012
Yea, I kinda just upgraded to GingerDX v012, from v010. Somehow I missed v011.
Anyway, I realised that v012 drains my battery a lot more than v010. I wonder why.
Just today, in 3 hours of idle mode, my battery drained from 80% to 60%. That's alot o.o
Any tips on how to reduce this battery drain problem?

I use a lot of functions (wifi 3g games and sms) for long time and the battery life is about 30-35 hours with 013
Inviato dal mio X8 usando Tapatalk
Batery on x8 is to low for room acept 2.1....
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
loving the ROM, but my poor battery!
This is my first post on this site. doixanh, you are a legend for making this rom available to X8 users. Its smooth and pretty. stock eclair can go in the rubbish with no reservations. When I first discovered just how limited it was I regretted buying my phone. Then I discovered froyobread (which I used for 1 day) before updating to gingerDX v13. Stoked!!!!!!! My battery drains pretty badly though. I have quite a few apps installed and use live wallpaper so I guess I can put up with it. I need my koi carp dammit! lol
My battery was draining 20% to 30% an hour on idle mode with bluetooth, 3g and wifi off. Turned on Airplane mode and now it drains around 2%-4%.
Any ideas on how can i improve the battery life without having to turn on airplane mode?
displays drain my battery 90% omg
when i check what uses battery it indicates 90% on display
my phone only last for about 8 hrs doing nothing just in idle mode
i follow all the instruction but it failed (

I tested it and got no significant results.
The change in values doesn't seem to improve battery life...
Using GingerDX 013, so far no battery drain. Yet i have noticed, that it's the cell standby that uses the most power. Although it drains 1% in 2-4 hours depending on quality of signal in my region. Usually everything's off and i have the supercharger v8 script installed. Also applied the smartass tweaks to save battery time as well. And i kill all unnecessary processes after using apps.
small update: Current uptime is 3d 22h as of this point and i still have 21% battery left. And i've drained over 15% when i was meddling with the supercharger settings. Otherwise regular use - phone calls, messages, some tinkering and wifi usage.
status update: standby was 4d 14hrs to 6% including the 15% drained when trying to set up supercharger. So it is possible it can do 5 days with small use and 6+ without any use at all.
