Ok so recently i fried my kinde,so for when i get a new one i need to know a few things...
1.Does a factory cable charge the battery.
2.When i had my kindle it shut down even when it was connected to the charger as if i was just using too much cpu power and the triagle flickered on and off because of no battery. If i am using a custom rom(miui.us) without a charger and it shuts down because it is out of batteries would it boot up with a normal charger?
3.if you use a factory cable am i stuck in fastboot till i use the computer to get out?
4.does cynagenmod have trouble charging while in use like miui.us?
Thank for the help

1) Other users have indicated that the battery will not charge while in fastboot mode, but it's been reported that the factory cable will boot the device even when the battery is flat or even disconnected.
2) It's possible, but if you read the posts from the other thread you started several days back, the user with a dead battery said he was only able to get his battery charging again with the stock software.
3) No, you can turn off the device, disconnect the cable, and reboot. It will revert to whatever bootmode was set before the factory cable forced it into fastboot mode.
4) I've never had problems with CM7. I've even had it shut off on me after some running app went nuts and drained the battery in a few hours. I don't have any experience with MIUI.

Technically, there is no "official" CM9 for the Kindle Fire because the KF is not an officially supported Cyanogenmod device. With that said, this might be as close as you get...

Hi Guys,
I got into a problem here, and I need help! I have a milestone 2 with the latest Endlees CyanogemMod, Android 2.3.7.
I was trying to follow the steps into using the internal memory as a SD card (link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948887), but I wasn't successful.
Here cames what I did:
First I tried to follow the steps:
1- create a file image in /data and a folder in /sdcard
mkdir /sdcard/storage
su
dd if=/dev/zero of=/data/storage.img bs=1024 count=5242880 (1024x1024x5 --> 5Gb)
busybox mkfs.vfat /data.storage.img
But that didn't work, the terminal emulator just said that the directory couldn't be found.
Then I downloaded Busybox from Android Market, and installed it. But when I executed the program, the installation wasn't done because it was insisting that Busybox wasn't able to access the folder, and didn't have superuser access to root. Even with the permission on Superuser OK!
So after that, I tried to reboot my milestone 2, and now it won't even get to the boot screen of android (screen with the rotating square)
I tried to use the boot recovery tool, and wipe all system data, and reboot, mas it isn't working. Something I noticed on Recovery Tool is that apear a messagem saying "E: Can't Open /cache/recovery/command" and "E: Can't Open /cache/recovery/caller.
Even the battery light won't turn on. If turn off the cell and try to recharge it, appears a image of the battery with a "?" on it... I tried to connect the cellphone to the PC with the usb cable, but it isn't recognized...
I hope someone can help me, I just can't afford to lose this phone.... Thanks
Look in this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1344740 it should help you solve this problem
in general: firstly you need to charge your battery in another working Milestone 2 or in some universal battery charger (because bricked Milestone 2 is not able to charge battery) and then you need to flash SBF and it should be ok

I read somewhere else that even if the MS 2 is bricked the battery charges. Very very slowly, but it charges.
thanks for your tip... I read the entire topic, but there is a problem. My battery must be around 30% or something, but when a connect the milestone 2 with the pc via usb cable, the lateral light won't even lit... And the pc won't even recognize it...
edit: when I connect the cellphone to the pc, the light lit for 30s more or less, the appear the Motorola logo with the rabbit on the side, but then the light turn off and I get stuck in the same situation...

I don't know, maybe it is possible, but I as far as I know, everyone, who had bricked M2, charged the battery outside his phone...
So he can try it in the bricked phone, but he can't be 100% sure it will charge, right?

Yes, thats why I said here and even in the topic I referred to, you have to charge battery in another non-bricked Milestone 2 or in universal battery charger. When your M2 is bricked, it wont charge any battery (or maybe it will, but very very slow according to carpet55's post ).
So now you have to get some universal charger or working M2 (or another battery).. This is your step no. 1. Then you can flash it via RSDLite by SBF file.
ok Anonymous_!
I'm going to find a way to charge the battery and do what are you saying.
But RDS Lite can flash the android even if windows it isn't recognizing the cell phone on the usb?
thanks again! I'll return with more info when I get my battery fully charged..
After you will have charged battery, you will have to boot into bootloader by holding Power+Volume Down+Camera button, then windows should recognise it (maybe you will have to install drivers too) and then you can use RSDLite (don't forget to run it with administrator rights).
Anonymous_,
final question of the day... Where do I get the SBF file?
I'm from Brazil, so should be the brazillian version of this link?
and-developers.com/sbf:milestone2
You are on the right path
Grab Brazil 2.2 version from http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone2 and it should be ok.
I can confirm that no, the battery does not charge when bricked. I left mine going for over 24 hours and nothing -_-. So ended up using a universal ac adapter set to 5 volts and some wires directly to the + and -. This didn't work after half an hour so I upped it to 7v and about ten minutes later, all good.
During my research to find how to fix it, someone was saying the charge sequence software in in the system or boot data, and since it was all corrupt - no charge.
But you perhaps allready have enough juice in there to load up bootloader successfully, so try what anon said and hold d-pad up and power on until the screen flashes blackish grey and let go. Then it'll tell you if the battery has enough charge to flash a sbf

Guys,
I'm thankful to everyone who tried to help me, especially Anonymous_!
Yesterday, in the same day I bricked my phone, I flashed it even without charging to 100%... and everything has gone well, but it was a close call, because my battery had only 5% left when the milestone returned to live!
Good to hear!

Hi all,
I think I got a sourious Problem with my defy (green Lens).
I was aktually running on CM7.2 Stable as out of a sudden the call was aborted and the defy dead. But the Battery was at perhapse 20%.
At home I pluged it in and was schowing to charge.... (showing the flash in the Battery symbol at 5% and red LED)
Next day still at 5%. so nothing charged. So I changed the battery with my second defy (running on CM10) 100% loaded. But the Phone shows me still 5%.
Wenn phone is pluged in I can boot and work with it, I also can go into the Custom recovery and into the bootloader. But only when I pluged the phone and not when connected to the computer. Also bootloader shows battery low, even with a 100% loaded battery, so I can't Flash anything with RSD.
I tried everything I know, installing new roms (at the moment its at cm10)
Wiping everything... also Battery. Tried battery recalibration apps. and even some battery fixes for Defy+ but nothing changed something.
My only suggestion ist that it must be a hardware defekt..... anybody some other Ideas, what I could try?
Any Ideas how much it will cost to repair? Warrenty surely lost?
Thanks in advance. Andy
Nobody any Ideas?
maybe you should try to reflash with your stock SBF file you had b4 installing CM7 and see what happens... if the battery doesn't show right even then, I'm afraid it might be smth with your hardware...

Problem ist, that i can install any custom roms using custom recovery. But I can't flash something over RSDLite, because Handy doesn't start without beeing plugged in (plugged into pc isn't enough) and even then it shows battery at 5% even if battery ist 100% Full (Witch I can test, because I got a second defy) So I wouldn't be able to Flash because Bootloder says, not enough battery.
I don't know how I should flash.....
Did you test to restore nandroid ? If you didn't make nandroid backup when all was good, it's an error...
If there is a PC on Linux near you, you can test sbf_flash (which works very well for me on my Salix OS), eventually with the -f (force) option.
Hi,
no I don't have a nandroid backup, from this phone.... Is ist possible to use a nandroid backup of another phone? As I said, I got a second defy, so I could take one from this.
just wipe data n reflash.
connect the phone to your pc/laptop tru the cable.. for a night.. then boot. wipe data and reflash, else there is a methid where u cut open the usb cable and give the red and black to the battery.
By now I own an HTC ONE S .... so it's not so important, but I would like to repair it anyway....

Tx no 5
Your problems with Defy seems to be a hardware problem due to a fried condenser from power circuitry.

My galaxy s was hanging on boot (at the big S logo). This wasn't the first time and last time I had tried everything and reflashed. Yet this time odin crashed (windows gave me the 'Odin.exe stopped working' notification) and my phone powered off...
Now it won't give me anything, not download mode, OS or recovery (screen stays black, not even sure if the phone boots at all, hardware buttons also stay off)
Couldn't find anything usefull, any thoughts?
Cheers
Try the JIG to force it into download mode and try again. If odin crashes again, try flashin within windows safe mode. Sometimes it prevents crashing

I Think this is the problem, you may have tried flashing when you had little battery charge and that will cause serious problems as bootloader would have failed.
your only option would be read the My Android Solutions about Problem:- Cannot enter Download or Recovery Mode

EDIT: I thought it was weird indeed that my phone powered off, since it had a full/near full battery (at least it told me)
Great thread ! Yet unfortunately none of the steps work for me up untill the JIG, I'll have to get hold onto one or make a homemade one (only got a single micro-usb at the moment, so that'll be a sacrifice) Havn't really got a lot of time on my hands but eventually i'll have to give the JIG a shot.
Realize that it seems like the phone isn't powered at all.
EDIT: no "usb device detected" notifications/sounds in windows when plugged in (for adb)
Also: My volt-o-meter told me that my battery outputted 6+ volts... can't seem to reproduce at the time of writing this though....

could be a USB cable failure (guessing) try
2) Problem:- Cannot connect to PC or Unknown Device, getting Code 43 or any other code or NO response when using USB cable in My Android Solutions
did you tried to remove the battery several seconds holding down the powerbutton and put it back again?
btw i also had issues with a galaxy note and a broken usb cable. screen was black because of an empty battery, you should try an other battery maybe a friends one
I'm in a real pickle here...
My phone is bricked and I found all the resources for that already.
However, when I go to flash the firmware on the phone to bring it back to stock it's not allowing me to do it because the battery is at 4%.
I go to charge the phone a it forces itself into bootloops and doesn't charge.
I can get into recovery (CWM--which bricked the phone...likely my fault) but phone doesn't charge there.
I can get into download mode but it doesn't charge there.
WTF is going on!?!?
How can I charge my phone at this point...unfortunately, the battery isn't removable.

Edit: No, I'm unable to establish an ADB connection in Recovery to do this. I'd actually tried this already with a stock rom. Thanks though.
Flashing the Cyanogen ROM is what bricked the phone. I'm not able to establish an ADB Connection from Recovery (ClockworksMod) so I'm not able to flash anything in Sideload.
Here's the "Boot-Loop":
Power on (vibrate)
LG logo
"Source Booting Unsuccessful"
"Cause: (blank)"
And it just loops like that any time it's plugged in and not in Recovery/Download modes (which also don't charge).
I've tried a factory reset but that didn't change anything. I also tried restoring my original backup image but that doesn't work either.
Currently I'm trying this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48874488&posted=1#post48874488
This is where I get the failure to flash because of 4% battery.
Only other option I haven't tried yet is to boot into Ubuntu and restore files there and I'm avoiding that for now because I'm at my parents house and don't have burnable DVDs so it's going to be a pain in the ass.
for ubuntu couldn't you do a virtual machine, or live boot from a flashdrive?

Just an idea. Download an Alternative recovery with charge function. Flash it via ur working recovery from usb otg drive if u have one and reboot to it. Then charge ur phone back to life
Just a thought but maybe you can use an external charger for the battery

it wont work for me.i charge it more than an hour but still readed "B0" in download mode thats mean i have 0 battery percent so i can't continueing to flash the phone, please help how to i charge the phone when everythime i charge it on the wall or pc,it will start bootloop again n again without charging the phone.my battery is now at 0% can't do anything
If you can go in cwm, flash twrp from usb and charge your phone in recovery.
Dear friends, anybody has found a solution? I'm on the same situation. If I disassemble my phone, will I be able to charge somehow?
Hi everyone, I know it's been many years but do we have any updates on this? Thank you
My tab stopped working from on days to another. TWRP installed but I can't enter any mode! I can see it with ADB when I connect it to my Macbook.
I can enter the tab via shell (adb shell). Entering download mode is also not possible. The display then switches on and a second later off again - that's it!
ODIN also does not connect to it.
Don't know what happened to it. Now I try to get TWRP back to work and flash it again.
Any help here much appreciated!

So many times I've come across the same symptoms and almost always has been a flat battery.
Try a different charger and cable, leave it on charge for a few hours.

Thx, will charge it over the night and check again.
So I charged the tablet over night and it is still not booting. I guess the bootloader is corrupt or so.
Is it possible to fix it with ADB?
