I used burrito for the last two updates before 6.3 but for the 6.3. All i used was the Kindle Fire Utilty 0.9.4 for this update
I have never installed TWRP. I don't seem to need it. I don't know if this method would work if you have the TWRP installed
This has got to be one of the fastest ways to root the 6.3 kindle update
Downloaded the new Kindle Fire Utility 0.9.4. Got rooted in about 2 minutes with no trouble at all.
First click on - install_drivers.bat first
Then plug in the Kindle Fire and then click on - run.bat
Then a menu will popup Choose number 2 option - Install Permanent Root with Superuser.
Then choose option 6 (Extras) to re install the market and google apps
when you do option 2 you will see "installing TWRP ..." somewhere
so if you do option 2 with kfu twrp and fff will be installed
I continue to have driver issues with KFU. I suppose because I rooted my Galaxy Nexus using Wug's Toolkit my PC continues to see my Kindle as a Samsung device. Now I'm waiting for Kindle Water to be updated to root 6.3, b/c ADB does see my Kindle just fine on my Mac.
So OP, you don't have ABD installed at your, you are simply using the KFU?
I did the temp root after the first update to get the Google Market and other apps, but haven't since. Thinking I would like to update those apps assuming the KFU has the latest version of G+, Gmail, etc.

I had a similar issue. I installed the 'naked Samsung driver' in order to get adb to work with my GNex, and it causes the kindle to not work properly with adb. Had to uninstall those drivers from device manager in order for the new drivers to install properly. After that, all went well.
KFU was able to put TWRP on my Kindle, but rooting and gapps did not work, with permissions errors in the KFU text. Instead, I just used TWRP to install the rooted 6.3 rom, that worked like a charm.

OK. So I restored back to the stock Kindle Fire rom. After I did that, it restarted like 3 times and now it's unrooted. I'm pretty sure it didn't update itself. But I'm not sure.
Also, Kindle Fire Utility won't detect my kindle, so I can't use that to reroot. What would be the easiest way to root it again? I don't want to go through the hell that I experienced last time aha.

If you figured out how to root it the first time you should be able to do it again all the tools are located in the Developer section go do some reading and do it.

Use BurritoRoot3 to root and get FFF.
Then try to get KFU working to install TWRP.
Actually I'm having a very similar problem. My Kindle Fire automagically unrooted and now it isn't being recognized in any adb at all. I'm even using Ubuntu Linux right now and "adb devices" doesn't recognize my KF.
Before unrooting, my Kindle Fire had stock rom with no recovery. Just rooted to have access to default android market. I don't know what to do right now.
Noticed last night that my root went out into space with the new update. Just wondering will there be an easy root tool for re-rooting the KF. I am not too good with ADB and all that stuff. I know I used Kindle Fire Utility last time. Thanks for your patience!!!

I looked at that and I know I didn't have to type all that stuff in the first time. So I guess I will just uninstall all the apps that are for root only and just use my fire to read books. What is really sad, is that I have rooted 4 or 5 different phones. And for some reason rooting the fire scares the fire outta me!! LOL @ me!!
Download the kindle fire utility.
1. Open run.bat
2. Select option 3 (install permanent root with superuser)
3. Select option 5 (install twrp recovery) this is optional
That's all I did and got back root

I didn't use kfu 0.9.3, I used the one before that. LOL!! I haven't updated to the newest one yet! So I guess the 0.9.2 one definitely works!

I have the KF, never been rooted, just updated to 6.3
Now i downloaded KF utility 0.9.4 and installed drivers
My KF now shows up as Android ohone on the Device manger.
Now to root, do i just run the KF utility and choose option 2, ie. Permanent root with Superuser
and later option 5 to instal TWRP???
Or are there some steps that i am missing?
I just cant find a step by step guide for this latest version of KF Utility with superuser.
Any help is totally appreciated.

I hope you have got it by now. I would do the option 2 and then do option 5. But I am as much as a newbie as I can be. So you might be better off hoping someone else comes on here and lets you know.

So heres my story,
I rooted my kindle via kindlewater for mac, everything was fine, i had the android market and such and firefirefire with clockworkmod. I decided to try to flash an ICS MUIU ROM, but then when i rebooted, my kindle won't go past the firefirefire bootloader, I have try the buttons and everything. I have tryed KindleFireUtility 0.9.2 for Mac/Linux, and I have installed the so-called 'drivers' (Mac obviously doesnt use drivers), but when I plug the kindle in for KFU, it says kindle offline, and the Android Debugging Bridge is also offline.

Can you please be more specific? What Kindle software version are you using; 6.2, 6.3? Do you have the correct drivers in the right place? (i.e. in a folder named “.android" placed in your home$ folder) Do you know what bootmode you are in? Have you tried issuing Terminal commands manually?

The one-click w/o fastboot, they use an app installed directly on the kindle, solution for installing the 2nd bootloader and recovery, provided by fmkilo here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2106463 works on the rooted Kindle Fire 2 (original) as well. Hope this helps. I was unable to pull up the fastboot menu on my kindle fire and so I decided to try this method and it worked like a charm. You may have to uninstall and reinstall the app (it didn't work the first time for me, but it did the second time I installed it).

Proceeding at all with 7.4.7 is at own risk. I have a used tablet coming in the mail and will be here Tuesday. I will restore and test out rooting with binary and try some KFFA things with 7.4.7. I won't know anything until late Tuesday evening. Maybe someone will come along with some information before then. If not, I will let you know then.
Edit - Because this is possibly new hardwareI have edit my response to say just don't try it until you here from those who made the scripts give the all clear. I thought this was just an update to the 2012 Kindle Fire HD and the new Kindle Fire HD. This may not be the case. Until it gets sorted out, probably best to wait for the devs to sound off.

If you have a factory cable you can downgrade and then root it? I'm running a custom ROM on my kfhd so can't help much for 7.4.7 sorry

How did you tried? Did it root? Did you have a factory cable?
Try this...
Get Bin4ry's root and extract the 'fakebackup.ab'. Get ADB set up and working and enter the following:

adb restore fakebackup.ab
If the restore screen pops up, where it says "restore my data" at the bottom (don't press on it though), then there's a good chance they didn't patch the exploit. If the ADB restore hasn't been disabled, I would say go ahead and try to root it. It probably wouldn't hurt to make sure the factory cable still works though.

I Have successfully rooted my kindle fire HD 7 - 7.4.7
With the Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v31
1) WHILE KINDLE IS UNPLUGGED Uninstall all kindle Drivers:
Download The adb drivers from the post
2) Go to settings on Kindle Enable ADB
3) Plug kindle in,
When the device is recognized you can now root.
4) Open the tool, Select option one, and read the instructions on the tool.

I'm getting error that C:/.../ric couldn't be found
have you any ideas?
root checker says device is rooted but still can't run apex or set a wallpaper etc.

You can try again. One will install some launchers with it too. Be careful though. Using this tool on the 4th generations is not widely tested. Not that I know of anyway.

Hi, My kindle is not the newest one, so I assume it's normal Kindle fire HD 7'', I tried to run it another few times with different setups on my pc etc. same error every time. It's weird that it says it's rooted but I can't get most of the thing working, perhaps I should try to put in recovery, alt boot loader and install some different rom. But because I'm not confident about my root I rather use amazon-handicapped device than get a brick.
I would not proceed until your root is working properly. Sometimes the rooting process has to be repeated. You will want to get a fastboot cord just in case if you try to install ROM.
Just the other day I had to run root and restore 4 times before it took. Ended up I got the one that installs Apex launchers as well and just installed that afterward.

Hi, to install 2nd bootloader and twrp and then cm11 factory cable isn't needed. Kffa want downloading files to downgrade to7.2.3 so I got it manually inhaled then twrp and cm11 no problem. But then cm11 started crashing so I rebooted kindle butit dinner start, in twrp it reported that storage can't be mounted, I have pushed Rom using adb but it wouldn't install due to storage issue soI used that tool to recover kindle but after successful installation I got into a reboot loop. Factory reset cable is already ordered. After cm 11 issues I don't know if I'll try it again.
