I have an english retail moto defy +
I put cm9 onto it and the first time I tried it no longer recognised the battery. After reflashing it did and charged fine. But it is a bit too unstable for my liking. So I tried cm7 and that did not recognise my battery, then I restored my nandroid...no battery. So it seems I am stuck with cm9 which reboots if I try the camera and will not turn wifi on.
My question is if I flash a full sbf will that solve my battery problem? Will it then again see the battery when I put everything back the way it was?
Never mind, I flashed a full sbf and the battery is again recognised.
So that works
Probably my question was too noobish to be answered, long live search and my own brain..

Never-mind however, wiping data/cache would have worked in this scenario.
I may be a noob but not completely stupid. I wiped everything time and again, but it made no difference.

Hey don't take it so seriously ..... no one is an expert in everything its just a matter of time ( how much time you have invested doing this ) & experimentation skills ..
What I suggested was just an idea ... and most probable cause....
Anyways I'm happy your issue was resolved!!

So a couple weeks ago I installed syndicate frozen rom, works amazing, restarted my phone today, now its in a constant reboot? I cleared everything and reinstalled. same problem. Any advice? I would post this in developement but dont have the rights do so. Please any advice is better than me scratching my head lol
It's good you don't have rights to post in development, it doesn't belong there, only posts where something is being developed belong in development.
And you should probably try reflashing the ROM and if all else fails then use ODIN.
My guess is he was talking about posting in the thread for the Frozen Syndicate ROM, which I would say is precisely what he should do, although They would probably just tell you to Odin to stock and re-flash.
When you say restarted your phone did you pull the battery, or shut it down normally and restart? If you pulled the battery you have data corruption from the EXT4 using no journaling.

You can try a factory/data reset if the reflash doesn't work. Then if even that doesn't work you are left with Odin back to stock. I would recommend the EB13 prerooted with CWM3 found here:

THANK YOU! You hit the nail right on the head. I had gotten it back, when I reflashed the rom I dint do a master data wipe and yes I'm an idiot and didn't actually turn it off, it froze so I pulled the battery then it went into goofy loop. Big thanks for everyone that responded but definately out to soco
So I turned off my phone for the night, just to wake up in the morning, turn it back on and it hung on bootscreen. The phone restarted perfectly a few times but for some reason I keep having problems with this ROM. I'm using the compiled Clockwordmod recovery v.3.1.0.1 but I cant get this to work perfectly for a week without problems. Anything I can do to fix it? (Had to restore a previous backup.)
you need to have S OFF to use this kind of rom.
also make sure you do a full wipe including the battery stats
My phone is s-off but thanks for telling me the tip.

Randomly wiping battery stats probably isn't a good idea...
OP, really not sure what the issue could be. I'm not very familiar with the ROM and don't know of any known issues.
i have this on my g2 and I have no problems. have you tried reflashing?
This has been happening to me occasionally but mostly when trying to boot into recovery post CWM update.

Nah, just gave up on it and moved to CM7 nightly.
Folks,
I've been running the ICS Kang project build without any issues (2.3) for the past while. Last night the tablet locked up on me and I powered it off by holding down the on/off button. When I went to turn it back on it now permanently hangs during boot. I can still get into CWM but attempting to wipe either the D. Cache or data hangs. Anyone got any ideas?
Can you restore a backup?
If you can't do anything in CWM then you might have to Odin back to stock....
I can flash a new rom but there appears to be something wrong with the data partition - can't wipe it and tablet wont boot.
You don't happen to have a link to restoring tab via ODIN? I was just browsing for that...

Scroll down to where is says Re-Stocking Yer System and follow the instructions.. Make sure you choose the correct download (7500 or 7510)
Thanks - I'll let you know what happens.
Its bizarre, flashed roms lots of times, never had an issue even close to this...

No problem... It should go nice and smooth and once it boots back up check in settings for system updates..
Well, thanks! That did the trick! I am back to the stock Samsung firmware and have already reflashed clockwork. I really don't know what went wrong in the first place, but I suppose that's what you get for living on the 'alpha' edge...
Thanks again! (BTW I did click the 'thanks' button ;-) )
BTW - for anyone interested or suffering a similar problem, in the end this required a full reset - all data was lost which sucked for me as I had all my backups on the device too (don't bother calling me stupid, I've already done it)....
I'm guessing some bug in the ICS KANG alpha screwed the partitions up which nothing short of a full reset could fix...
Sweet! Glad you are back up and rockin'...
phew!
I had exactly the same problem yesterday, and I thought my tab was completely fubar until I came across this post.
I was running the "official unofficial" CM9 snapshot for p4wifi, and before that I ran AOPK build 27, I think. I did not perform a full wipe before going to CM9.
I change roms on my tab very often to try to find the best, so something must have gotten messed up, but it's somewhat odd since it worked in the morning, and then when I came to work it had totally b0rked up on me.
Anyway, this post was a life saver although I lost all my data (didn't keep a titanium backup or a CWM backup on another storage than the internal storage. shame on me).
So - thanks alot raqball!

Never understood why people don't do a full wipe and expect nothing to go wrong.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA Premium HD app
Hehe, well, I usually do a wipe but this time I read somewhere that you probably didn't need to when going from aokp to cm9, since they are pretty much the same.
But..... Lesson learned

Understandable... but unless the Dev. says no wipe needed, I would always suggest it, even when it's virtually the same ROM, thread, Dev., etc...
At least it wasn't too hard of a lesson.

So... I've had a Kindle Fire with CM7 for quite a long time. I stopped using the tablet and just recently found it. Deciding I wanted to sell it, I thought doing a factory reset as well as wiping everything from every option would bring it back to stock. Apparently that wasn't so. Now it won't even turn on. I mean, I can boot to Recovery using TWRP, but there's nothing to flash at all. I mean, that should be expected, considered I, well, wiped my SD card.
I would have known how to fix this a year ago, but it seems I did not retain the know-how I once possessed. So, as a last-ditch effort, I'm coming here and asking what I should do before I do something even worse to it.

Thanks for the reply, but the instructions just aren't working. I must have gotten rid of something important. I wiped the cache, dalvik cache, battery stats, rotation, system, and SD card. I try flashing the stock ROM and it always fails.
Hey everyone I know you all probably get fed up helping noobs out and I do apologize in advance but have no idea what to do. My daughter has had gt-i9505 for a year and a half now she had an update about a week ago that she did. And now the phone was having sound problems and seems very unstable not sure if update has anything to do with it. Looked around the net tried a few different things did nothing serious just cleaned headphone jack and wiped cache nothing seemed to work. Just to say the phone was on 5.0.1 Now she has wanted me to root and install philz touch recovery for a while now but didn't really want to incase something went wrong. So given that all these problems were happening I decided I would do it for her and It all went smoothly so then I put new rom on it for her and that seemed fine to but sound problem still there and still seems very unstable is there any suggestions you guys can think of to fix it, would be greatly appreciated CHEERS :good:
Try flashing back to a completely stock rom using Odin.
Stock ROMs can be downloaded from sammobile.com.
Your best bet is to odin restore, if issue still pertains, then you have a problem in hardware, if you don't want to restore, then root device flash twrp, and factory reset there, if you have further questions, Google rooting flashing and bootloaders.
Just to say thanks to you guys I think back to stock is the only way cheers
Hey everyone just to say i have flashed back to stock now but no change even tried to update and still no sound,I even found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2612167 and tried what they said and know go just notice now when i hit the volume control at all it crashes the phone. But if it was a hardware problem would it play music on the samsung logo screen on start up? any other idea of where to go from here would be great CHEERS AGAIN
Try a stock android based ROM.

Can i try an android based ROM from where i'm at now or do i have to root again?
The phone is running the latest stock rom? Was it factory reset before booting for the first time? Possible hardware issue?
Sorry just a question is Cyanogenmod an android based stock rom?

No its not running the latest stock rom i went back to 4.4.2 because the latest stock rom is where the problem seemed to start in the first place. And yes i did a wipe data/factory reset before restart.

Yup!You can try Viper4android, its a mod for audio and is really awesome.I'm pretty sure it can fix the issue
Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
It requires root.
Hey guys hypothetically if it was a hardware problem and i wanted to get it fixed is it hard to reset the knox counter?
Still no luck it seems to have gotten worse touch wiz has stopped and wifi won't turn on what the hell is happening?
I would try flashing the latest stock rom and perform a factory wipe before booting the rom for the first time.

OK now i get what your saying before it starts, but do you not have to let it boot up for Odin to say pass and turn green?
Open Odin, uncheck everything except f.reset time. Flash the rom, when you see the word reset in the status window, remove cable from the phone, remove battery, wait 5 seconds, insert battery, use button combination to boot into stock recovery, factory wipe, and reboot.

OK got it, I will try that hour of a download of sammobile.com thank you for your patience
Let us know how it goes. I suggested flashing a stock rom and wiping because, if it still doesn't work properly, it could be a hardware issue.
Good luck.

Your daughter seems to know more than the average one Either that or kids just grow up fast these days!
It's highly unlikely that a software update would interfere with the phone's sound imo. How was the update done, e.g. wifi?
Me thinks your problem is hardware related. Also, you mentioned something about downgrading from 5.0.1 to 4.4. This might have something to do with your sound woes.
And then, once root counter has been tripped, there is no way to un-flag it. I believe there might be a way "trick" the counter to show "zero" but I haven't personally ever bothered to try it out.
Personally, I think it's the phone's hardware :good:
Hope you didn't get too much conflicting answers.

No had my doubts about the update myself it was done over wifi I think she said it was one of the lollipop updates. Now regarding the downgrading from 5.0.1 the sound problem had already started on 5.0.1 only thing I done from that point forward was to root it an put philz recovery on it and then tried a custom rom to see if that would help which it did'nt sound prob still there, after that i was advised to try reverting back to stock then i downgraded to 4.4.2 stock to see if that would help no luck, just a question when i was rooting i was reading about triangle away does that not reset the counter?
