ReloadedRom Rocks! - Kindle Fire General

After testing many of the KF ROMs around here. I am stick to the ReloadedROM. The latest release 1.1 it is pretty stable... we are just missing a new kernel allowing hardware acceleration and... that is it.

Agreed, the new version of the rom is flawless except for the minor exception of hwa. Has anyone tried to use the blue reflective soft key mod yet? I can't seem to get it to work

Thanks for the support! And soon I will post a flashable zip for mods.. I'm very busy now!

I look forward to trying ReloadedRom as soon as I am able to root my Kindle! I am doomed to driver issues on my PCs (tried everything this point) and now await an update to Kindle Water to root on my Mac. Then to flash this rom and abandon stock launcher forever!

Agree! it runs smoothly. On my kindle, it froze when using APEX launcher, but after switched to Trebuchet 0.1, it hasn't had any problem.

Once again, Thank you. I love all the support! My computer kinda crapped out on me but it is working pretty good again, I really should get a new one! The OP was updated with a new bug (build.prop messup [my mistake]) so be sure to read it!

This ROM was my first ever flash on the KF, and I'm super satisfied.
I mistook-ingly believed the lack of HWA would cause the UI to feel choppy and that games wouldn't run fine.
I don't know what lack of HWA is losing me, because everything feels pretty freaking awesome and games run fine.

Do some research into HWA and you will find that is mainly an issue with small pieces of media (some videos, and some games, etc.)

I'm not sure on how it compares with stock, but people are telling me it gets better than other ICS and CM7 roms so... it's pretty good!

I finally got root and flashed Reloaded. Fantastic. Too soon to comment on battery life, but the overall feel is super smooth and it looks incredible.

[Q] How's CM7 on the KF?

I've seen a few of the home screens that people have posted of their KFs with CM7. How is it?
It looks really nice with the Honeycomb/ICS (?) theme.
I just wanted to know how it is for the people that use it. Is it buggy at all?
Thanks!

I had a question regarding CM7 on Kindle Fire:
I have it all set up and good to go; however, when I select the double down arrow button, the CM7 bar goes away. How do I get it back without exiting the video I'm watching?
I've got two Kindle Fires...
One was on 6.2 which I rooted and started playing around with. It picked up the 6.2.1 update and I'm kinda bummed with it. Need to re-root it and tidy up a few things.
The other one I've been holding on to for using in the car. Was kinda waiting till BT was figured out. But I had time yesterday and moved it from 6.2 to CM7. I can not stand my 6.2.1 Fire any more. I like a really simple experience and CM7 does that for me. Post Xmas I'll move the 6.2.1 Fire to CM7 or ICS if it's ready by then.
Was playing around with TetherGPS on the CM7 Fire today in the car, very cool. Just need to figure out a mounting system for it. Once BT is figured out I'll be able to use Torque for ODBII data and get more geeky.
I had problems with the home button not working and didn't like the notification bar and tools bar at the bottom. Frankly it was a bit buggy for my tastes.

I am loving it! The status bar buttons can be reconfigured to your liking. I set mine to be the same as my Droid X to keep things simple. Check out tablet tweaks in the settings menu.
So when u install Cm7, do u lose Amazon carousel? I like being able to switch back and forth

Everybody is saying that. But for me the scrolling in 6.2.1 was way smoother than in cm7. Also adw launcher ex run flawlessly in 6.2.1 in cm7 it's a bit choppy.
But other than that, I won't go back to stock. I really love cm7, have it on my phone, too.
Cm7 is really cool and highly modifiable. Its a crime to use kindle with stock. Only i had to restart cm7 once, If it doesnt keep doing it, its perfect.

I'm greatly enjoying CM7, hoping some of the last wrinkles will be ironed out soon. (Not able to play some apps like Asphalt 6, which work on stock rom, the MAC address issue, nothing major but still troublesome.)
Yeah, some apps don't work. But the ones that do are much faster (Including Tapatalk)

[Q] Does ICS perform pretty well?

Hey guys. I am no dev and waiting as patiently as possible for "beta" ICS build. I would just love to know from you pro tinkerers how is the overall system performance? Are the home screen scrolling and animations smooth? Is it impressive because ICS is better optimized or is the hardware showing its age?
I stay with CM7 for now until 4 or 5 releases of CM9.
I've been very impressed with the sneakpeaks and in fact have been using them as a daily. I recommend doing your own builds though just to make sure everything is current (only reason I haven't is due to VM issues).
I mainly use mine for browsing, email, and PDF reading so I haven't had any issues with it.
If anything you can give it a shot and try it yourself (emmc or SD) then go back if needed.
Sound still not working, right?
Sound works fine for me in sneakpeak2, but the boost in dal's tweaks isn't working. Headphones are OK. Was watching Ghostbusters earlier.
I just loaded samian303's nightly build from 1/11 and so far so good listened to Pandora radio earlier and been able to do everything I could do on CM7.1. Though I have not tried video yet..

Oh, it's great to hear.
I haven't caught up with ICS lately.
I've been pretty happy with it. The only problem I had was that it did not see any of the media on my SD card. On that note...any ideas?
I just installed the most recent build and I am amazed how functional it is. The only trouble I have noted (with very limited tinkering) is flash player and the ics movie studio app.
All my media is there on emmc and sdcard, and movies play fine.
I hadn't realized how close they had gotten. There may be more serious problems that I haven uncovered, but I am considering making this an every day ROM. Everything else is minor minor stuff.
I have tried samian303's nightly build from an SD card and really like the progress from my first build of it. It's getting close to a beta or RC I would think.
ICS works very well the only thing it is missing that CM7 has is video playback. Other than that most everything works fine.
Sent from my NookColor using Tapatalk
I am running the latest nightly and am over clocked to 1325. Runs very smooth for such an early build!
Sent from my NookColor using xda premium
works okay
Ive been using it for a day or so and it seems to work fine to me. Just a lot of little odds and ends to adjust/clear up. A lot of apps are not showing up in market yet I can install them from my titanium backup.
Not bad at all
I've been using it since sneakpeek2 and have had a totally fun time with it. Took a few tweaks to get Calendar sync going, to get the launcher I wanted (I use Zeam) and to get everything looking the way I want it to but it's reliable enough for me to use daily.
The one annoying issue (besides video stuff which is just icing on the cake for me) is that the ICS Gmail app doesn't fit the screen, it cuts off at the edges, but this might have been resolved in a nightly or there might be a tweak that I haven't found yet, still searching. If anyone sees one, let me know.
For video I'm just using moboplayer and set default for software decoding. Works well enough for me so far, but I haven't thrown anything heavy at it.
ICS is a little buggy but for the most part its on point!!!

I did perform a full wipe before installing the latest ICS rom.
It is performing perfect for me with 0 lag and grey touch response. I only notice the touch in gaming really not sway to day things. Might want to try reflashing it cause mine runs smooth as silk. Using 1/19 release forgot to mention

Yeah I would reflash mine runs fine I had one minor SOD issue the first morning I flashed it and never looked back . I have ran this since it was released with sound for the past two days with the only issue is battery last a little less time and it could be a little faster but its just alpha build its why its in the development forum. Jackpot will have this thing screaming when its released stable let's just flash it and report issue

First Impressions of a new 10.1 owner.

Just got a new 10.1 yesterday and gave myself a day to see how much I like it. Speed is always a big deal for me. Im actually typing from the tab now. The keyboard isnt too bad, but I dont see a autocorrection so far, but have not looked into it. The speed of the Touchwiz and homescreens is much better than most had me believe. I dont have any lag between the tapping of the arrow and the animation to show the quick apps.
The tablet also came fully updated, as far as the tablet shows through the update wizard. I will eventually check up the dev section and make sure I have the latest update today or tomorrow. The touchscreen does show a bit of lag as far as drawing with the fingers but isnt too bad and rougly on course with the A100 from Acer, my previous tablet. Battery is also great, and came 50% charged when I bought it, and didnt drop below 40% for the 4 hours I had used it before throwing it on the charger and watching some youtube and netflix.
Anyways, that was a quick review, and I love the tablet as of right now, when I thought the Tw UX was going to be a pain, but hasshown to be opposite and not too bad.
Thanks,
Mike
I just ordered one of these. I dunno if I'll get it since the contract was too good to be true. Nonetheless, if it get it, it'll be a worthy successor to my übermodified ZTE Light.

Thanks all forth replies. I havebthe thumb keyboard already, but don't need a new launcher or anything yet, since the stock is working perfect. The next next thing I'm waiting on is the ics update in the coming months. I do plan to root this soon, but won't use an ics Rom since I use the cameras often. I may throw Task or overcome on this instead while I wait. Overall a very good tablet, and the detail is amazing as far as the resolution and everything else goes.

Is it worth flashing?

So guys I was asking myself "is it worth flashing?". Why you ask? Well because if I took a look in the development section and it doesn't look like any of the current roms out are stable and they all seem to have many know issues. So I would like to know what you have flashed and how you like the experience compares to stock rom?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
I have flashed a bunch of roms on this tab. Most of them are stable now. ALL of them running ics are better than the honeycomb touchwiz that comes pre installed. The only caveat I say to you, is that the camera still isn't working on the roms I've been using as my dailies. (Aokp and Nightlies) If that's a deal killer for you, then stay away from the ics builds for now. But I can tell you as someone who has a 2 year + old Droid Incredible running ics AND this tab running ics, I can never go back. Its just THAT good. Especially on this tab where it Truly shows off the big improvements on the OS.

Ah OK. (Just realised you're right)
I'm using overcome 2.3.1. It's not ics. It's pretty nice. Went from multiple daily reboots to 3 or 4days of uptime. I use it a lot for reading, browsing, netflix, remote mgmt of servers and it holds up well. I bought 3 Samsung docks and have it hooked up to my home theater for music via hdmi, on my nightstand (ditched the tv in the bedroom) and another in my office. I wouldn't have been able to keep it without a rom. Give it a shot. Take your time and read up, it's pretty simple. I'm kinda pissed they made such a great tablet and put such a horrible buggy os on it.
I saw all the comments here suggesting to throw a rom on it to improve performance but I didn't put much stock in it. It's not an exaggeration. You have to ditch the tw launcher too. I'm using Go's tablet edition. I guarantee you will not go back to stock. I chose overcome because it's really stable. No point trying to escape bugs and using a buggy rom.
Getting off my soapbox now. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I don't really care about ICS on the Galaxy. Task 14 is so good, I don't see ICS as improving much. I have ICS running on HP Touchpad and Kindle Fire, right now.

Real Life: I use my tablet for IM, web browsing, reading comics, and playing games, generally around the house or while commuting. That's actually it. Number of times I did a video chat on my tablet: 1. Number of times I actually wanted to video chat on my tablet: maybe 2. Because I work with a Galaxy Nexus all the time, having the same OS & ROM on both devices is honestly nicer / easier / more lazy-friendly. Its honestly pretty slick to have Chrome syncing across my computers, my phone, and my tablet.
I recently tried to go back to Honeycomb since I once again thought "gee maybe I should use the camera on my tablet". Honeycomb just feels like ICS with training wheels on it I really don't like it as much. This probably as much a placebo effect as anything. Also, the camera isn't as good as my Galaxy Nexus or my actual camera, and I feel like a douche holding my tablet up to take a picture. Would being able to Skype on my tablet be cool? Yes. Would I use it that often? No.
I'm going back to AOKP damnit. I can deal with a non-working camera for a while.
And GPS??? My device doesn't have mobile data, so it really doesn't matter to me that much, even though I thought it would.
Bottom Line: You can back all your stuff up, and you're not out anything, so why not try it?

i feel exactly the same, i just migrated to AOKP last night, and so far the benefits of it being a lot "zippier" is good. I do a lot of typing and multitasking viewing pdf and docs etc is a better experience on ICS than HC.....
music? camera? i have my handy SGS for that.......
