Saying goodbye to my first ever Android. - Wildfire General

The time has come that I am going to be getting rid of my first ever smartphone.
Have to say even though it is low spec I have loved using it and it has definitely convinced me to stay with Android and HTC for the foreseeable future. I will be giving the phone to a family member and hope that she enjoys it as much as I have.
I haven't been a poster on these forums till now but I have been reading since I got the handset last year. Thanks for all your great topics which have helped me get to grips with using and customizing Android OS.
Hope to see you all posting in the One X forum soon.

Enjoy your new phone

Happy New Year!

I know this may not quite be the right forum for this, but I did want to wish all of you users and developers a great and happy new year! I bought my first Android phone on Jan. 5th (the Nexus One) and coming over from 2.5 years of iPhone, I haven't looked back. This forum is what continues to spark and keep my interest in the platform, be it playing with some shiny ROMs or chiming in on interesting ideas and debates.
I've learned a ton from everyone here and I wish XDA and all its users the best! Cheers to a great 2011!!
(Posting in N1 and NS forums, as they were/are my first and current phones)
Happy New Year to you aswell.

No more X10 :'(

Well guys, I've had my X10 for a year now and it's been a nice device for me but the time has come to move on. When I first got it, Android 1.6 Cupcake was on it. I then found XDA forums and got the balls to root and debrand it and flashed it to 2.1 Eclair. Then Gingerbread came out and I got tired of waiting for AT&T to release the update for it so again, flashed it to a custom rom made by Wolfbreak. His work made the phone really shine and gave me infinitely more control over it, not to mention made it noticeably faster, smoother and equally stable. It's because of him that I kept it as long as I did.
But now with Ice Cream Sandwich coming out soon and knowing the X10 hardware wasn't going to get it I decided to step up to something more future-proof and snatched up a Motorola Atrix 2 at Best Buy for $49.99. I hope you guys felt I was an asset to the forum the short time I was here, I'll check in every now and then and help when possible.
Lastly, I'd like to give a special thanks not only to Wolfbreak for his awesome work, but all the other Dev's who devote their time to doing what they do which allows us to enjoy our devices that much more. AyDee, your work on the Envy theme for use with Wolfbreaks 2.3 rom made me fall in love with my phone...WB gave it the performance, you gave it the good looks. I appreciate all that you guys have done for me and my device and wish you guys the best of luck in your future endeavors.
Adios amigos!
Damn dude you're too kind!
Well this is more of a "see you later" than goodbye. Everyone comes back to X10 forums once in a while. There may be better phones but there are no better forums!
Have fun with the new phone. Just don't come back here bragging how much better it is. Lol j/k
Cheers buddy.

Haha so true, half the people in the x10 forums don't even have x10's we're just here because of the craziness here and environment of the x10 community. Also, the x10 was my first ever android phone.
I keep coming back and I got my atrix 1. The x10 forum keeps me amused, especially the general talk thread. That thread is the place to be.

Motorola plan to upgrade their device(some) to ICS....just finger crossed your device is one of addition in their upgrade list

cheers
I've loaded Corbato's MUIU and I'm loving it. It's breathed new life into my X10, and I'm happier with my X10 than ever.
even i did sold my x10 and got SGS2. still i always comeback to the x10 forum.
You guys were alot of help to me, without this place I don't think I would have rooted my phone and discovered Wolfbreaks rom, not to mention all the other things you guys helped me do and/or figure out. I'll check in from time to time for sure

Goodbye

Hello DHD community,
WEll it has been emotional, from almost the word go on my handset I have been a member of XDA and only dwelled in this bright little corner of the forums.
But now I move on. After the expiration of my contract I decided I wanted a new phone, and so I have now sold my Desire HD (it is sat next to me going back to RUU 1.72). I will be moving into the SGS3 world now. Wish me luck.
I have loved this part of the XDA community everyone has been great. Special SHouts go to
Mike1986 Yours was my First ROM Thank you
Lee I loved Leedroid I was very sad when it was no logner developed but I am so glad you took your expertise elsewhere
and finally
LordClockan and everyone involved in the ICS port and build. It was a bumpy ride with many bugs and pitfalls, but thanks for all of your work.
I hope I answered some questions and I hope I gave back what I took from this community.
Thanks all, see you on the dark side.
Good luck and thank you

Best of luck

Enjoy the Galaxy S3.
im planning on moving to a new phone like you, S Galaxy 3.
Even tho ive been with sense rom for a very long time, ive decided to move to a different android device.
my contract ends next year Feburary...HAHAH...
if there is a newer phone coming out by then...ill probably get the newest phone.
Personally the Desire HD is an amazing phone & I don't see the need to upgrade (SetCPU helps if I need more power). The only drawback is Sense UI, which is a HUGE memory hog. Other than that, a brilliant little device which has an excellent comunity with members such as @wbbigdave

i9000 - the smartest purchase ever

So, back in 2010, my wife and I were looking for new phones to buy. I had a Nokia E71 while hers was an outdated SE feature phone, and she desperately needed a smartphone to keep track of her emails. She was hell bent on getting a Blackberry. I tried reasoning with her, and she finally agreed not to get a blackberry, but then she started insisting on getting a Nokia instead. This was around Valentine's Day in 2010, I tried telling her that some great Android Phones are about to be launched, she should wait, or better still get an iPhone.
The sad state of affairs in India in Feb 2010 was such that Apple were releasing the previous year's iPhone model (3GS I think) a month before the new model was announced. I could not let her buy an outdated iPhone for INR 36,000 when she could get the latest Nokia N97 Mini for INR 24,000. I still implored her to wait for newer Android phones.
She decided she couldn't wait and she got an N97 Mini for Valentine's Day . I must say I was also interested in some Symbian devices at the time, but I kept telling myself that I could make the E71 last a few more months and make a call when the newer Androids were released.
Finally i9000 released in July 2010, and I heard the world going crazy over the internet. I still kept waiting, and I finally decided that I needed to make sure that this phone would be future proof like the HD2.
The clincher for me was XDA. I saw so many people boasting of updated i9000 ROMs for each android release that I finally purchased my own i9000 on 11/11/10.
Not disappointed at all. Have you seen the number of JB ports available for i9000? Tell me one phone that was released at the same time and has such brilliant community support. All I can say is, my brother's Desire HD cannot find even a single decent ICS ROM.
Thats right we are awesome. We know
I agree with the great community support. Yet, maybe we are also lucky because it is very much close with Nexus.
Yeah I switched from my N8 to an i9000 a couple months back and haven't looked back. I was bored of modding Symbian^3 it was just so locked down... almost why I couldn't live with an iPhone, they're great devices stock but Android devices are great stock but with heeeuuugeeeee potential.
Go open source as much as you can
I'm always motivated to the open source devices and software
I bought it during the release years ago and I'm still checking these forums everyday looking for something new.
It's still working like a charm and I love it! Thanks for the great community developing roms!

Was gonna get i9300 last week but when i sampled it in the store i thought the screen was huge. Seriously its like a tablet that makes phone calls.
Don't get me wrong im not saying bigger isn't better LOL!! but a phone is a phone and a tablet is a tablet. So what next the gs4 will be a 42 Inch LCD?
I got mine about 1 1/1 year ago, but was a bit bored and anoyed by all the samsung and telco stuff
so I started flashing about six month ago and I never will go back to stock. I'ts also great to be in this comunity,
you learn so much stuff and it's interesting wat's going on... :good:

What did I say ?
Had my i9000 for about a year and a half.
Don't regret it in the slightest. If my device makes it to 3 years old I'll still be using it as my main phone.

Goodbye Thread for GT540 users

Well guys, our device isn't getting any younger, and many of us have got new devices. In order to keep the forums cleaner this thread is meant for saying goodbye.
I've got a Nexus S, but I still have GT540 lying around, I just want to say thanks to our devs for making our device such a wonderful and interesting experience, also I want to thank everyone who helped me and answered my mostly stupid questions. I'll still visit GT540 forums but probably less often.
Again, thanks everybody!!!
Odlicna promena, nek te sluzi bolje nego gt540.

I'll continue using your ROMs, they're the best.

Goodbye too
I say goodbye to the community GT540 too. I bought a Galaxy S i9000. So thanks to all the developers who keep this device alive.
I didnt want to create a new topic, so I wrote it here
hi guys,
bought a LG Optimus 2x ...
last rom i flashed to gt540 was miro's last AOSP because there is no need for swap (and an sd-card) and its stable and fast...
But know he has also left so its time to change ...
I'll randomly look into this forum, but for now I'll molest the devs in Optimus 2x-Thread
Goodbye!!!
Bye man
i got my HTC One V a few months ago. just gave my GT540 away to charity (screen was broken for the 4th time anyways , and couldnt get the motivation to fix it) still look in these forums from time to time, for nostalgia purposes i guess goodbye to you all and it's been a great 3 years
After a long time away i decided to stop in here for a while. The gt540 was my first android phone, in fact it was my first smart phone. Since then i have had galaxy s, galaxy s2, desire hd, hd2, iphone 4, 4s and 5.... In no particular order.
Learning how to root and install roms were all part of the fun and learning. It was great being part of this community.
And now i must say..... Goodbye
