On my tbolt I can long press the home key and get a list of recent apps. This does not work on my rooted kindle running go launcher.
Any suggestions?
I personally flashed over to biteblazes cm9 reloaded v1.1 and with the ICS interface it comes with a soft button on the dock to open up recent apps. Very clean UI and runs exceptional with the exception of hardware acceleration which will soon be fixed when we obtain a working 3.0 kernel which hash is hard at work completing.

check out AppSwipe. Works great. I have it set to open on double tap of the home button.
I also bumped up the icon size to be more finger friendly. It's a very customizable app.

I bought appswipe and set it to open on a double tap of the home button. When I double tap the home button it just runs Go Launcher.
Any suggestions?

I really like the really simple menu and app drawer that the stock 1.2 has, but it only shows the built in apps or ones downloaded from the BN app store.
Is there any way to force all the other apps I have installed to show up? I would prefer to have the default "Home" launcher instead of Zeam, etc.
Any ideas?
It looks like B&N has the list of applications it installs through the Shop app. So until someone finds that database and how to manually add apps you will need to install a third part launcher. You can search the market for a home switcher application in the meantime if you like the stock launcher
Yeah, I have a home switcher installed already.
I really hope someone finds a way to override that list of apps that show up soon.

A workaround was brought up in the Manual Rooter thread about this. Basically, the workaround (and I'm running it right now) is to push the old BN 1.1's applauncher.apk to your system/app (should probably back it up first) and when you press the "Extras" button choose "applauncher"... everything will show up. The upside is now you can use default "Home" button but the downside is that the "Extras" tab doesn't populate new apps you install until a reboot.
Here's the applauncher.apk from 1.1 that I'm using.
Go to "Apps"
Tap on the "Archived" button
While holding the volume up hardkey, tap on the image of the speaker that appears.
This brings up the 1.1 "Extras"

Very nice! It worked for me. I tried volume down as well but volume up was the only one that did.
would it be possible to download a task manager and modify the behavior of the home button so that a long press brings it up like on the GSII?
If you get ADW launcher EX, it has this functionality.

I wish I could get ADW or launcher pro to work. Only go launcher will work on my Fire. All the others FC!

Cant find this setting. Can you tell me where it is?

Menu - More - ADWSettings - General behavior - Gestures - Home key binding.
Then select "Open app..." I imagine any app is selectable there. (tbh i think Gestures is an odd place)
Though I now realize that's not long press, but simple tap of the home key. However, you have swipe down and swipe up to use as well.
I sideloaded ADW Launcher without any trouble. Are you rooted, BriDroid?

As an alternative, you can download and an app called Task Switcher in the market. It essentially replaces the initial function of pressing the Home button. Once installed if you press the home button it brings up a task manager similar to the default on most phones and tablets. One of the choices is the standard home app, in my case Go Launcher but it works for any Home screen app. Press home a second time and it will bring up a choice menu where I press Go Launcher.
Next time you press the home button twice takes you to your desktop top.
So effectively it provided the task manager function with the only caveat, that I've found, is you have to press it twice if you want to go to the actual home screen, which for me is no big deal. I'm already used to pressing the home button twice quickly to get to the desktop.
hmm, how 's the way i should ask.....forgive my language not so well......
my problem is: when i full screen for gaming, the cm7's status bar will hide down, and when i want to exit the game but the game dont have exit button. i dont know how to get back the status bar (back) from hidden.......
and every times exit the game i have to press on/off button and release the ram memory by 360* (*a widget from china made anti virus) then the game will erase and exit.
Install a app such a zmooth. It puts a little touchpad at the bottom of your screen, where you can use 3 gestures for home, menu and back. Works in all windows, such as fullscreen games or apps.

thx to you~!!! dude, it's working~
Menu> settings> cyanogenmod settings> tablet tweaks> disable fullscreen
Choose the other softbuttons you want here too, like a home button on the notification bar!
Otherwise, choose power buttons menu and add a back button... Home button is on the power screen by default.

Be aware that disabling fullscreen may cause UI issues on some games and apps where the controls and text get mashed together. Real Racing 2 on mine had the controls and menu selections all mashed up on top of each other until I re-enabled fullscreen.
Another way is to add back button to power button settings

I really like this here https://market.android.com/details?id=com.smart.swkey for a few reasons. I can have it almost completely hidden (I watch a lot of videos and want the least amount of distraction) and you can also long press on them (which also works with cm's mods) so if you have the option set to kill foreground app via long pressing back button, it will work with button savoir, another example would be... I have holding menu button hides/shows the status bar via cm settings, that works with button savoir (actually that does not even work with cm's built in soft keys) I'm thinking about buying the license key so i can remove/customize the buttons but I haven't yet. I'm kinda holding out for cm 9/ICS. My experience with the unstable builds are that navigation is very well done and I might not feel the need for any third party navigation method.

That would be my choice as well yes, I've had it running on my KF since day one. Havn't bought a license key more for the fact that the only time I need it is when I need a back or menu button from within a fullscreen app
So if you use Apex and possibly other launchers you can set the home key action to recent apps when at the home screen. Don't know how useful it is for everyone but I find it more useful than having to hold on to it at the home screen. Just found it interesting.

Agreed. Wish Go launcher would do this.
On Nova, a long-press of the Home button does this and it must be default since I don't recall setting it up that way. I love it.

Actually, default settings in apex appear to be show previews with a short press of home and show recent with a long press.. been using the long press for a while now.. and the previews is kinda neat as well..
you can also set gestures for the apex actions button too. I have the app drawer on the bottom of the screen but if I swipe up from it, it changes to the default screen..
there are lots of neat tweaks I am slowly finding.. Very impressed with this over my old iphone4...
So much good information on this forum.. keep the info flowing!

Yeah, system default is that long-press of home button brings up recent apps. In Nova settings you can make it so Home button brings you to default screen when you're on any other screen, or opens up the recent apps if you press home while on the default screen.
In Gestures and Buttons in settings, set Home Button action to Recent Apps, then check the Only on Default Screen setting.
Is there a way to change the double tap of the home button to something other then the camera. I'd like to put a different app on this if possible?

I've been using a combination of Home2 Shortcut and Recent Task 2 to have my home button launch recent apps when I double tap it. You must disable the double tap camera function on your S7 to get it to work.
Home2 Shortcut is a really old app but it still works. It acts as a home launcher replacement that listen to how many times the home button is tapped. The app's settings lets you choose what app to open when it's double tapped and what home launcher to open when it's single tapped.
Thanks, shoremunkey, I'll try them out.
Yes, download "Home2 Shortcut" app.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for.
Also "all in one gestures". It doesn't have the double tap feature, but it allows you to reassign the home back and recent buttons to whatever you like. It provides different functions for holding, and also gives the option to use edge swiping.
For example I changed the "back" function to the recent button because I'm left handed, when I that button it kills the foreground app. The back button has the recents function and when it's held it takes a screen shot. Then I used a swiping gesture from the bottom of the screen to drop the notification drawer. It works great especially using finger print unlock because as soon as it unlocks I swipe my thumb up the screen and it shows my notifications.
Hey do you mind telling me how you got home2 shortcut to work. I disabled the camera double tap shortcut and assigned an application in step one however for the last step "close" closing the dialog, I am not presented with an option to choose a launcher like the app says. Thanks
