4.1.A.0.562 released to PTCRB for Arc S - Xperia Arc General

Is this the ICS upgrade?
http://www.ptcrb.com/vendor/complete/view_complete_request_guest.cfm?modelid=20152
Yesterday (March 30th) v4.1.A.0.562 appeared.
So development has finished? Does anyone know how long it takes for a new f/w to appear on PTCRB and be available from Emma/Wotan/etc.?

Shouldn't the ICS update be v5.something ?

Maybe a new version of Gingerbread? Something like the Xperia S?

ICS beta is 4.1.C.0.7 and ICS beta for PLAY is 4.1.H.0.7.
It's probable that the 4.1.x prefix is for ICS. In this case 4.1.A.x would mean generic worldwide.

Its on the arc too
From my sexy LT15i

Hope
we could only hope that is fully functional beta 4.0.X for arc & arc s

It's not a beta, beta's aren't certified on PTCRB.
This is the real ICS. It's coming in the next few weeks

maybe that is only 2.3.7
the .69 update was after 3 days on PTCRB downloadable from wotan and seus

I also think that this is the ICS final firmware. Usually it takes between 1 and 2 weeks for the firmware to appear in real world after it was certified at ptcrb. This is in line with the new schedule announced by sony - mid april for the first wave.

Awesome. it's real ^^

cool i will wait patiently till it's released i mean even on gingerbread it's still cool , wait patiently guys

I hope 4.1.A.0.562 rom is Real ICS rom not ginger rom

How many times do people have to say it.
YES, 4.1 IS ICS. IT IS COMING IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS.

Yes, if is for Ray, Neo V and ARC S is ICS !!!!
Because only these phone will receive the update before of Neo and Arc.

Just out of curiosity, but how long after the release in a few weeks time, does the FTF image appear on this here forums?

well I am assuming that it will be in next week for sure if .69 was on wotan in 3 days

So why is gingerbread on xperia s 6.X and ics is 4.1.X? Must be fragmenting ui 's

It's just internal versioning, it has mostly got to do with release cycles and system versioning.
The 2011 series started on 3.0.
They got 4.0 with the release of the Arc S / Neo V / ... - included Facebook inside Xperia 2.0, ...
Now 4.1 is ICS with a partial UI refresh.
The 2012 series starts at 6.0 for Gingerbread, and I think 6.1 for ICS (but I'm not completely sure yet).
That leaves...
5.x open for 2011 devices. I sort of expect them to get another major update in their lifecycle.

its out for arc too

ICS 4.0.4 coming too :)

According to the guy on sony blog 4.0.4 will be released too. Apparently they only pushed out 4.0.3 to make sure they are not late to the promised time frame. Heres the quote from his post.
We’re looking at all our user feedback and will continue to refine our software updates.
Our first update is Android 4.0.3 – Google released 4.0.4 when our release for Xperia arc S, neo V and ray was in final testing. As the difference to 4.0.3 is small, we released on 4.0.3 to deliver against our promised timings and to ensure we quality secured 4.0.4 – it will come in a further upgrade.
I hope they will release 4.0.4 for other 2011 xperia phones including arc and hope most bugs will be fixed in the next release
Good news as 4.04. has a few performance benefits
Stability improvements
Better camera performance
Smoother screen rotation
Improved phone number recognition

I am waiting for arc update too but should be soon. Its now may so they will probably start releasing it from next week r end of this week im hoping.
It's a shame they pandered to the pathetic "want it now" cry babies and released 4.03. They should have released that as a RC and delayed the final 4.0.4
I don't have too many problems to be honest, the main issue for me in ICS on the Arc S is the huge delay loading phone and contacts. Sometimes upto 5 seconds showing a blank screen before the contacts and dialer appear.
I'm guessing this is the SQLLite DB performance problems that Sony were talking about...
where are you guys seeing this? and when do you think it'll be out ?

Anyone that knows when this update will be rolled-out on the Nordic market, Sweden?

It's a nice idea to give Arc user a first look, but 4.0.3 it's still unstable in Arc, that's why they should finish 4.0.4 and then make it available to our phones. I still prefer custom roms, they seem to be working better.
we know how 4.0.3 is...but wat about the people who are not on xda forum? normal people who dunno anything about rooting or bootloader unlocking..or who dont want to do..actually they dont care whether its 2.3.4 or 4.0.3..but atleast for the name sake sony should release watever they have worked on ICS till now so that whole arc family can eat ice cream sandwich
...
i have lt15i and LT15i .69 firmware, just a moment ago i connected my xperia to pc companion and it wants me to update to newer firmware, i wonder if it is ics already?

Trust me when I say that most everyday people will regret the ics update as it is now.
First . Camera video is not what it used to be. Most everyday people get the arc for the camera abilities.
Second. Games are pretty much screwed in ics. All I have now is angry bird and cut the rope.
Take some time to think about it. Will everyday non developers really appreciate ics ??

Guys stop whining about the ICS release. Guys like you ( no offence) wanted ICS to roll out very soon. People on xda wanted ICS to be released as it was under development. but when it was released people started whining about tje release has bugs. Please give Sony sometime to fix these issues.
HTC hmm. The htc incredible s which had a scheduled ics update last month didn't get anything. Htc is a fool if it is rolling out ics updates for outdated and non deserving devices earlier than their 2011 lineup. Even sensation series has not got the ics updates ATM.

second , we are not whinning! atleast i am not.. i just saying tat even arc user should get ICS update soon before people loose interest in it..
third, I mentioned HTC because they worked well on making ICS smooth on a 600 MHz HTC desire C smartphone(FYI it hasnt released yet)..i never talked about deserving and not deserving model..( seriously dude wat were u thinking? )

Also, Sony Mobile is a much smaller team compared to HTC, Samsung and the likes so you can't expect the same stuff in the same duration.

ICS upgrade available next week

Sony just revealed that remaining 2011 xperia smartphone will get upgraded to ICS 4.0.4 next week, except Xperia PLAY(poor u) in order not to affect gaming performance.
NXT series will get the upgrade in the order of S, P, and then U.
Now, we are happy to confirm that the remaining 2011 smartphones; Xperia arc, Xperia neo, Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman will start to receive their updates starting from next week.
This software upgrade will be Android version 4.0.4 and the good news is that this latest version will also be made available for Xperia arc S, Xperia ray and Xperia neo V users, who received Android 4.0.3 the first time around.
In regards to Xperia PLAY, after extensive in house testing with our developer teams and working with our partners, we have concluded that a consistent and stable experience, particularly with gaming, cannot be guaranteed for this smartphone on Ice Cream Sandwich – therefore, we will not make the Android 4.0 upgrade available for Xperia PLAY.

yea.. i saw xperia s running 4.0.4 few days ago..it was damn smooth though..
I was wondering the same question how will Sony fix the gaming problem on ICS for the Xperia play? And there is the answer may it be just for now, no ICS for play until the gaming problem is solved. Great news for my Arc S
is there any particular date for ics to come???
and thnxxxx for the news
bec just had a rom of android 4.0.4 and now only i had put the stock .62 fw for the ics

probably this is the decision made by sony and the game vendors
This decision was also verified when we received similar feedback from the developer community; both experienced developers and advanced users, along with game content providers following our ICS beta ROM for unlocked Xperia PLAY smartphones.

previously sony said ICS will still run with the obsolete kernel 2.6.32 in order to release ICS as quickly as possible in January. i just hope after 4-5 months of development they can release a 3.0 kernel in the near future.
we also see xperia s running ICS with 3.0.8 kernel, hope Sony or some skilled developer could port it to xperia arc?
It is rather quick to get a new kernel up and running, but it takes a lot of testing and validation to make it stable and run with the modem, get a good battery performance etc. Quite some effort has been put in to the Sony Ericsson 2.6.32 kernel, to make it as stable and reliable as possible for the 8255 platform, and we do not feel that the user benefit of a new kernel would justify a later release date.

Sony ' investigating' Jelly Bean for all devices

Info suggesting no 2011 Xperias would get Jelly Bean was given "in error."
In a statement on its official product blog, Sony has reassured Xperia smartphone owners that it's still in the process of investigating which of its devices will receive updates to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The statement follows earlier reports, originating from one the company's own Facebook pages that 2011 Xperia handsets like the Xperia Arc and Xperia Mini Pro would not be getting updated.
The manufacturer said --
"During a Q&A session last week on our Sony Mobile GB Facebook page, a local spokesperson gave information out in error on our Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software development and rollout for 2011 Xperia smartphones.
"We are actively investigating Android OS upgrades for all devices, but in the meantime, our Ice Cream Sandwich rollout for Xperia S and 2011 Xperia smartphones continues as planned."

I think that too ,JB is not a major update just a few performance tweaks here and there.
Maybe its just a marketing strategy to make people buy Sony phones and then in the end moment they'll disregard the 2011 devices.

Sony(Ericsson) Did not disregard their customers from updates, Sony is one of manufacturers who's really into updating their Portfolio to the latest Android versions, look at their Update History compared to any manufacturers
2010
X8/X10mini: 1.6 > 2.1.1
X10: 1.6 > 2.1.1 > 2.3.2
2011
Xperia/Live: 2.3.2 > 2.3.3 > 2.3.4 > 4.0.3 > 4.0.4 > 4.1(?)
2012
Xperia: 2.3.7 > 4.0.4 > 4.1(?)
Right now, 2011 Xperia is one of the most updated Android Phones out there, and I believe they can be updated to 4.1

My nexus S got 2x faster and smoother with jelly bean. My mums arc S on ICS is faster than nexus S on ICS but not the nexus S on JB. That tells you how significant a thing jelly bean is it is designed to make every phone smoother not just the high end ones. If nexus S with 512MB ram can run it so well then the arc S surely deserves it. it will become a beast with jelly bean.
Let's hope Sony don't make a mess of it. Official ICS hardly fills me with confidence!

Sony plans to deliver Android 4.3 upgrade to Xperia SP

So, Sony’s Jelly Bean 4.2 upgrade for Xperia Z and Xperia ZL is well underway* – next up, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z will start receiving 4.2 from early August.
Yesterday you probably saw Google announce the next version of Jelly Bean (Android 4.3) – we’re already getting stuck in and can confirm we’ll make 4.3 available for: Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia SP and Xperia Z Ultra…
We’re also looking at uplifting some of our other devices running 4.1 direct to 4.3 – we’ll share more info / deets / timings when we can, so be sure to follow @sonymobileNews for all the latest.
If you fancy learning a little bit more about the technical side of our software development, check out Developer World’s latest piece on how we’re improving and refining our efforts to bring users new Android versions.
On that note, thank you for all the feedback on our Jelly Bean 4.1 rollout for Xperia 2012 products – we’re aware the process hasn’t been as succinct or as timely as you might’ve expected. As part of Developer World’s piece, Fredrik Ekstrand, our Head of Software Product Management, elaborates on some of the reasons for this, but essentially – we’ve heard your frustrations and are constantly improving the way we do things.
If you have any questions, feel free to drop them below.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to be wrong They are currently doing big efforts to be efficient and that why I bought a sony device in the first place.
They are the first to reply at the google announce so I hope for the best.
I would like to suggest the DEV Team to pay special attention to the Camera and Audio quality on the latest Xperia 2013 line , Using the the exmor sensor and as it was hyped the quality is just horrible and unacceptable from a sony device.
Just release the AOSP for this! Then the "XDA Dev Team" *lol* can take over..
It owuld be much easier for them.

Seriously?
Android 4.2 was announced 8 month ago, and you will not give it to our Xperia SP, we must wait again some month (6? ). And they said, without no shame, "Check out on how we're improving our efforts"!
I think, they actually laughing about us!

That's true. But I still stand by my choice of getting AOSP for the phone first.

Errr ,the S advance not consider laggy ....=.=
What I see from the ROM ,they put the default min and max frequency is always 1000MHz
And the RAM management is unoptimize , the apps always in buzy usage and phone just hang at there ,need to wait it respond back

No they didn't. Where the f did you even read that? They both implied that the SP update won't come early august and that they won't be skipping 4.2. That or they don't know how to write news releases.
