If you lost root, it sounds like you need to update to the newest RA-recovery 1.6.2. There was an issue with the older one that was causing that.
Everytime i try to install any apps in the CM7 Nightly build (#25-26) it just instantly says application not installed..
ive tried fixing permissions, reflashing, going to stock rom and reflashing, and the only apps ive been wanting to get on there are the gapps.. i tried other ones to test em also dont work.
anybody have any takes on this?
Side note: also when i try to change the theme on the rom i get no service..

do you actually have the market, or is the google apps zip not flashing at all?
try clearing the data and cache from the market app(settings, applications, then choose market app, then hit clear data and cache). See if that fixes your downloading issues.
I dont have the market, the rom doesn't come with any apps put in by google and it wont let me install any apps whatsoever through the file manager..and i have no marketplace either so it's just ridiculous.. lol but whatever i've decided to go back to ice glacier till cm7 is good...ice glacier is MUCH more stable
Appears you haven't followed cm7 install instructions. gapps zip should be flashed the FIRST time you install, along with the ROM. Then, on your first use of the Market app - automatic or you cancel out during first boot provisioning sequence - Market will download all your previously installed apps for you. Like magic.

i tried everything. what you said what i said what others told me. nothing worked.
You stated Market was not installed. You also stated you followed directions correctly. One of those can't be the case.
Try a complete reinstall. From recovery, format /system, factory reset, then reinstall both cm7 and gapps from their zips. On the first boot, you'll be prompted to select some apps from Market. You can cancel out to set up wifi or do other stuff...but the first time you run Market you'll get the same opportunity. When Market runs, all apps you've downloaded will be downloaded again.
Be very careful restoring any system data from Titanium Backup. Email data and SMS data, AW Launcher should be ok.
HTC Glacier running CM7 #28
go to rom manager.
under "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery"
Your current recovery should be 2.5.1.4 and not 2.5.1.2
Be sure you have the latest build to install gapps.
May the force be with you.
Not trying to sound like an ass but I honestly have tried everything you guys have said but they all did not work I didn't com on here and ask for help when there's many threads for that I've looked I'm not the retard that reads nothing and then asks for help..I posted this thread cause nothing has worked whatsoever..
Let's get this straight. You did a COMPLETE wipe as described, installed cm7, installed gapps, booted, and you weren't prompted to run Market or cancel during that first boot sequence? Or after your boot completed, Market wasn't installed?

Yep i've even tried installing cm6 same problem..i guess i was not destined for cm..
I can only think of two possibilities. You will, I'm sure, laugh at #2, and assume it is an impossibilty. Yet I think it more likely than #1. But you can test #1 by creating a new, temporary gmail account. If you don't get Market, then the answer must be the one you don't believe: #2.
1. There is something dreadfully wrong with your gmail account settings.
2. You are missing a critical step in the installation process.
If you do find things working with your new gmail account, you could compare account information and try to effect repairs -- Google's dashboard might be a place to start.
yea if your not getting market thats a big issue..... are you using the right gapps? cause CM6 and CM7 have different Gapps i think. i know you think we're a bit retarded cause you've gone through and tried all these methods. but unless you give us a FULL detailed account of exactly everything you did we won't know. not to bash just letting you know. and yea i know its frustrating just take your time. dont want to brick your phone.
nah i kno you guys are trying to help lol ill try the gmail account thing tho and let you guys kno how it goes :] and i also used the gapps appropriate for each cm hehe i generally follow exactly what needs to be done... but thnx for the help guys sorry if i went off earlier..

Have you tried a fastboot wipe before installing CM7? That would be my suggestion. Also, make sure you are flashing thru recovery so you can make sure to be able to see any errors while flashing. It sounds like it isnt even installing any of the apps that are included. You can also use a file explorer and look in your system/app folder and see if anything from the gapps zip has been installed. You can also take the vending.apk and push it via adb or copy and paste it via Androidmate (free in market). Just make sure you check and fix the permissions to match all the other apps in the folder.
I really think a fastboot wipe will do it but you can try and check the other stuff first. Maybe it is placing them but not installing for some reason.
Well the gapps aren't the only problem tho which is why I don't think it's an installation problem. Even if iI tried installing other apps it just says app not installed like the package installer isn't working...maybe the main problem lies there?
I was on 4.2.1, rooted, and with TWRP as recovery.
I wanted to get the OTA to 4.2.2 so I did full Titanium backup and then used the WugFresh toolkit to flash stock 4.2.1.
After flashing, I was offered the OTA which I allowed to install.
When finished, I got root back with Rootkeeper and restored all Apps and Data (not System data) with Titanium.
Everything was working, but on every reboot I got the message :
"System UIDs Inconsistent. UIDs on the system are inconsistent, you need to wipe your data partition or your device will be unstable."
I also found that My Phone Explorer would no longer connect via USB so I decided to go back to 4.2.1.
I again flashed it with the toolkit and did another restore with Titanium. Again, everything seems to be working, but I still get this message on every boot.
I thought using Titanium Backup was a standard way of restoring apps and data.
How do I get rid of this message without wiping and reinstalling all my Apps individually, which means losing all my game scores, etc?
I also see that in Bootloader there is a line
"Signing - not defined yet".
I do not know if that was there before flashing back to stock.
same problem
system UIDs inconsistent, it keeps showing up after every boot.
i have nexus 7 GSM 32 gb rooted using nexus 7 toolkit with clockworkmod recovery, android version 4.2.1 build number JOP40D
i tried Rom manager fix permission the same problem, i don't like resetting it any suggestion
thank you

You can boot any recovery you want without hard-flashing it to the device (so long as the boot loader is unlocked).
With the device in bootloader/fastboot mode,
Code:
fastboot boot name-of-recovery-image-file.img
So download TWRP and give it a roll.
Hello,
I got the same "System UIDs Inconsistent" problem. I like to solve my problems myself but I've got no way out this time, so I'm asking for your kind help.
I'm on the SGS III, i9300, I rooted it then went to Omega ROM, and then to Paranoid Android. Everything went well until I got a battery problem (when charging the phone, it was not sufficient to bear with it functionning, so it powered out while charging). After that, the phone restarted and the UID problem appeared. Maybe it's just a coincidence.
So far, I : fixed permissions, did at least 10 factory resets with TWRP, changed ROM (went to CM and came back to PA as nothing changed).
I read the 6 first post about this in xda forum, and other forums too, but nothing came out as an evidence.
Last thing I did was upgrade my PA ROM : the phone couldn't even go beyond the booting process, failed to initiate the phone "first settings" app.
So I came back to the previous version of PA, and was able to use my phone again, but apps like Gmail, Color Note, won't work.
I want to get rid of that, and I wish someone told me, step by step, the things I could do to eradicate the problem. I will do what's necessary to achieve that, I only need someone who knows what to do, and how to do it. I saw some tricks that maybe could do the job but I don't have the knowledge to choose one.
That's my first message here so I hope I didn't break the rules of the forum ^^ If you want any informations about my device to help me, just ask
Thanks a lot, and I hope my english is not too bad ! Have a good day.
Thanks
I got this message too without having any other problem with this TWRP version or Hairy Bean 2.2
The message appeared after flashing the new 4.2.1 (?) modded bootloader for Hairy Bean and the ROM itself.
I'm not sure whether the ROM or bootloader are causing it but mine got fixed by fixing the permissions via TWRP.
Thanks for the tip! :good:
In my case only re-partitioning helped.
for me uninstalling quadrant did the trick
That did it

This worked for me, too. Thank you.
My situation was a little bit different:
- Flashed Paranoid Android 3.99
- everything was fine (for a few reboots) until I made a nandroid back up with CWM 6.0.3.6 ( which was surprisingly slow, almost 1,5h)
- rebooted
- UID consistency problem
- tried to boot temporary into TWRP - NOT POSSIBLE!
- flashed TWRP 2.6.0.0 permanently
- TWRP: advanced - fix permissions: SUCCESSFUL!
Maybe I'll keep TWRP, but I'm used to CWM for years now.
CWM has removed "fix permissions" since 6.0.3.5 (http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/45945/ )
Fix Permissions
For me worked fixing permissions through TWRP on CM 10.2 latest nightly (10082013).

Me too! TWRP on SlimRom 4.3
Thanks
I am also having this issue after I flashed SlimBean Beta 4 Weekly-409 on my i9300 (wipe data/cache/dalvik and clean install with gapps) and tried restoring a couple of apps like Any do and Temple Run 2 with Titanium Backup.
Is the TWRP being referred here mean the TWRP manager? I installed it from play store but I don't find 'fix permissions' option anywhere in it.
I remember of seeing it in SuperSU but I am unable to install that as well as it says the binary needs to updated.
Could someone please help me here?
Thanks!

Confirmed. Get into the TWRP n do a fix cache wipe/dalvik wipe/fix permission

I just updated my S4 to 10.1 Hyperdrive and experienced this very same issue. Rebooting into safestrap and fixing permissions cleared up this very annoying issue on my phone.
I flashed gummy V4.4 yesterday works great. I went into rom toolbox and changed LCD density to 361 and rebooted, got the UID inconsistent message.
found this thread, fix permissions in TWRP, all fixed. bing bang boom.
thanks all, I also fixed with TWRP latest version, and try to roll back to CWM
I installed a new ROM and I got the System UIDs inconsistent error, then my S Planner FC. I went to find the txt file and it stated that the problem is related to Calendar Storage. I deleted the apk and placed a new one back in. Problem persists, I scratched my head for so long and then I found this thread.
THANK YOU, fixing permission for the Calendar Storage did the trick! Thank God I found this thread!
Hi guys,
I've been trying to get Lollipop running properly on my G900F, but there's a problem with my root access - when I start an app that needs root, it takes too long for the system to answer the reques which again makes the app time out. Obviously, this makes it hard to restore my backup from Titanium, but after I manage to run it after lots of swearing, more than a reasonable number of reboots and a little bit of swearing it will still be too slow to give root when running automatic backups. I've tried autoroot, I tried applying the update zip and I've even managed to lock myself out by causing system ui to hang on boot. I'm on my third wipe now and I figured this won't get better by itself and it's not because of a bad ROM update...
So...could someone please help me with how to fix this?
Cheers!
Titanium still not work with lollipop..
For your su problem, you can go into su app and click on the # (right near the apps) and give them su access

Thanks for replying I actually went with a pre-rooted ROM which seems to work fine. Giving access manually probably wouldn't have worked as it didn't work after I got titanium into the list and even set the timeout to five minutes :S

Latest version of titanium backup works properly with lollipop. What superuser app do you have? I recommend latest SuperSu zip.
I used the latest SuperSU update file and flashed it through both CWM and TWRP. Must have been something with the image - the one I got now works perfectly both with supersu bundled and if I use the update file.
I'm Posting this because of all the confusion I see on the different forums on how to get this working. This WILL WORK as I've personally tested on three different versions of Android on the Nexus 6p, Samsung S3 and HP Touchpad.
The underlined steps are the gist of the process....
How to Install Viper4Android 2.5.0.5 on 6.x 7.0, 7.1
Download ViPER4Android_2.5.0.5_guitardedhero.zip
here's a personal google drive link
DOWNLOAD IT HERE https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3qV-scfklSkZEg0MDdZY3J4ZXM/view?usp=sharing
Boot into TWRP recovery and install/flash the ViPER4Android_2.5.0.5_guitardedhero.zip from recovery.
Reboot phone.
Use a file explorer with root access (Root explorer)
Go to the /vendor/etc/ directory on the device and rename audio_effects.conf to audio_effects.conf.bak (IF THE FILE EXISTS)
Open ViPER4Android FX
You may get a notification to install V4A driver. Select YES.
It may take some time to install V4A driver, it's doing its job and will finish soon. If Android gives an error that the app has stuck/stopped, select the wait option, don't force close it.
Make SURE that you've given Viper4Android Storage permissions
or you won't be able to load or save profiles
Check under Driver Status (in Viper4Android) to make sure it's enabled and processing. Like this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3qV-scfklSkbGJMb0JkOWdwX0E/view?usp=sharing
Once the Driver installed message shows on screen, reboot.
CREDIT TO guitardedhero and androiding.how for making it simple and me for being pissed at the confusion to get this simple mod working for folks.
Most of this guide's steps were modified/originated from http://androiding.how/install-viper4android-nougat/
I attempted to simplify the steps because of all the confusion I see on forums, and make the instructions less wordy and more precise.
This works for you please just give me a thanks I've been on here for too many damn years to not have more than 17 thanks. Good luck everybody enjoy Android it's awesome

Never needed to do anything with that file other than rename it before installing the Viper4android driver. If it's a fresh flash you should be good to go. Or you could just reflash the rom on top to fix any weird stuff you might have done trying to get it to work. It's really not that difficult to get this mod installed/set up.
My current ROM doesn't even have that file in vendor/etc if that helps.

It should, if not do a backup of your Rom, your apps and a backup with your launcher's backup utility and there's no worries. Then do a clean flash of the rom.
I just switched to Nova launcher from Apex and it will basically restore your widget locations even..it really makes it easy to clean flash. I'll dirty flash sometimes but if there's any funny business, back up and get a good clean rom flash going..

The package I use is much simpler. It was provided by guitaredhero and doesn't include all of the other config files. I've not had luck with those nor tested those. The ARISE ZIPS simply haven't worked for me. If those work for you by all means use them. The smaller package has worked for me on numerous devices and android builds.
Simpler is better in my opinion. The old viper zips didn't require 20 + files to function.
Good luck!

Hi, just sharing. Installing viper mod has been slightly tricky for me since nougat. I like Leviticus 1.3 and have it running with nmf26f. I always install viper after setting everything up and doing a back up since it's near impossible to get rid of the files once installed.
1. Install busy box stericson. Reboot.
2. Rename audio effects.con.bak Reboot.
3. Finally install 1.3.
4. Install black player from play, insert headphones and press play.
5. Open viper app and hooray, no drivers not installed message.
If I do not reboot after every step, it's almost guaranteed.
When enable for first time, music will disappear for a sec before hearing a slight difference. Adjust to your liking from there. I noticed if the music doesn't mute for that sec, Dolby atmos will just be lifeless when enabled or when switching to speaker mode and back to headset, no processing after.
Really weird.
Also, if developer options not enabled before installation, drivers won't install.
Learned from plenty of wipes and restoration.
Alternatively, there is a way to do this the systemless mode using Magisk.
Just install the Viper4Android module thats on the Magisk Manager app,
then I made a module that changes the "audio_policy_configuration.xml" file for the one I modded, using this reference http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68859212&postcount=23811
It works for all except on soundlcloud.

Basically magisk is similar to Xposed in that it can add mods to your ROM without having to flash entire Roms.
Magisk does not touch system, so magisk modules are systemless. Read the forum to find out
You basically flash magisk.zip and Magisk PHH Superuser in recovery,
Then install PHH Superuser app from play store
Then magisk manager apk from XDA

Thanks. I flashed superSU to root via twrp earlier on. Don't know what it means to flash it systemless. If I flash PHH superuser, will I be able to continue to use chainfire's flash fire to install official ROMs later? Been using it to upgrade since 7.0. I've used xposed mods a lot previously, so this magisk manager is like xposed app where you can download modules and install and enable them?
