I have heard the term nighties before, but never understood - is it like taking (for example!) fxp114, adding a few changes and seeing if it's a better build? Sorry for noob Q and admittedly I didn't search as I am out and about :-$

for 12 days? I think i must be missing something, i followed the link in OP, clicked on the "download" link but our (x10) device does not seem to be on the list of available downloads, the only links are some "nightlies" from November
Thanks anyway for the info, but i am still confused :/

As I said, they are dated November 2011.?
Sent from my X10i using XDA
Well Baz, the X10 has been misplaced for a while in the CM development corridors. It seems they are getting ready for its inclusion on a regular basis. Once es209ra is added to ROM manager, nightlies will be available for OTA download through it. That should allow for more data to analyze and quicker bug resolution, leading to a stable release more quickly. And of course giving flash junkies their fix. I was so antsy waiting for a few expected releases that I flashed FXP113-CM9 and SpaarcDroid Alpha 4.0.3 last night. In my opinion getting the X10 in ROM manager is the most important next step.

maybe it's not up yet, the link from that forum post does not have es209ra and the page for it is empty http://get.cm/?device=es209ra&type=RC
great news nonetheless, it's getting close
Awesome!
yeah it's not there yet, i think it's being uploaded since they announced its release
can't waitttttttttttt
Well i can see the benefit as Tal333 explained, thanks dude, if we have users giving real-time bug info OTA then they can be "ironed out" quicker, honestly (i know it sounds bad) but i have still not got my head around ADB, so i only use flashtool/recovery - so getting the "bug reports" manually has always intimidated me somewhat!!
Tal, if you don't mind i will PM you once these come out to check i have the process right for using the roms in a way that will be useful to the developers, but if i am right, i will be able to see the roms on "rom manager" (which i don't use yet but will learn!), d/l them straight thru the app, install via cwm, leave the cyanogen error reporting enabled (anonymous usage stats i believe?!) and the rest will happen in the background via data/wifi?
Anyways, i will read up on these things to learn more - thanks again for the info

I agree with this user since that is the only what which will speed up the development and help the developers bring out a stable release within a minimum period.
ok may i explain
a nightly or a daily build is an automated build.
organisations like canonical, mozilla, cyanogemmod, etc etc
have powerful servers running that can build rom/software/os live cd/whatever in few minutes
these builds are queued up by maintainers and the latest available sources automatically get compiled and released as a build.
the thing is between today and tomorrow if there is no change in the source code, then the two nightlies will come out exactly the same.
to understand better you ppl can visit jenkins.cyanogenmod.com
jenkins is their build server and you can see how each minute new builds are getting automatically generated

So there are still a lot of issues with the gb build then? Or are they nearing a final working version? And by no means am i asking for an eta or anything just curious as to the progress being made.
Right now it runs. That's all I can say. But it is a lot better of a first build than other devices.... If I can get a working vendor built this weekend,we may see some progress(wifi working maybe....)

Same thing that was with my builds guys. Not worth it. Compile on your own for now if you really want this. There is no data, no calls, nothing. Until RIL is figured out, then CyanogenMod 7 is useless. I will be building full time once RIL is sorted but for now, these are useless other than having bragging rights. Not trying to discourage the OP but rather letting the masses know what's up.

What's the issue with RIL?
i have a build from another dev that runs and i have gapps but no data so you cant sign in and wifi throws you into a bootloop...we needa kernel and i think we will finally have GB for the TB!
RIL: Radio Interface Layer.
The only reason that we have no data/text/calling/etc for CM 7. These threads are beating a dead horse. Wait until we have a working test build. I'll start building again once we have that.
The issue is, it's not open source.

Right I thought RIL was made open source, guess not. But like all development, it starts with baby steps. Thank ProTekk
Man i cant wiat till yous figure this out...Im jonesin for sum GB
I think the title needs changing, and I really wish these builds were not posted if no one was willing to support them.
We end up getting the questions on irc, people don't read the disclaimers/warnings. The howto stealing sites (thats you A.T.) remove the warnings.
Maybe change title to "CM Builds - DATEHERE - NON-FUNCTIONAL" so less ppl will mess with it.
So we need to find the RIL files leaked? Or how do you get them?

Oh gotcha. So they have to make them compatible. That makes more sense. Now the closed source comment makes sense.
Thunderbolt Rooted!
This is absurd. Mods should lock this thread until we get a working rom.
No offense... but why? This thread is misleading, this thread will cause noobs too eff up their sh*t (despite your clearly stated warnings, they will not take them seriously), this thread is utterly useless because CM7 is not working, CM Parts are not working, RIL is not working...
Flashing this will make your phone useless (just like this thread).
Besides, there are already threads dedicated to compiling daily builds of CM7. Those threads have been put on hold (like they should) until CM7 is ready to be compiled. Even then, many people will flash extremely early builds of CM and wonder why certain functionality is missing or why x,y, and z does not work.
The underlying point is that this thread is going nowhere fast and will only cause problems. At least wait until the RIL is re-engineered and working.
Thank you.

Based off AdamG's DevNull build.

I only need 2 Testers

may you be more precised please, and give a link to the ROM ?
I'll happily test this for you as I much prefer generic Android to a manufacturer version. I ended up sticking with Nexus 1 builds on my HD2 and I miss it.
One thing I would say though, I did try installing the DevNull build and my phone never booted, so I ended up restoring my backup. I never looked into it any further, so if you've based this quite heavily on his build then I may be of no use to you.
Feel free to PM me if you want to keep the details off the public forum for now.
I would be interested if you can provide a change log or is it devnull themed? A bit more info would be great.

He's really good. Highly superior...? Idk since recent, there's been quite a bit of talent crawling out of matrix. But I will say he's definitely an all-star and a SERIOUS contender for the MVP.
It also may be worth noting that he made, in my opinion, the most solid gb rom to touch my phone. I think it was better than stock.

They ICS nightlies have been posted since last night.
NS: http://wonderly.com/bb/CRESPO/ROM/ICECREAMSANDWICH/
NS4G: http://wonderly.com/bb/CRESPO4G/ROM/ICECREAMSANDWICH/
Flashed the NS version last night, pretty snappy.
dunno why he can't just have a thread here where everyone can find it... :\ thanks for the heads up!!!
Is there a post or a changelog about those builds ? What's added/changed from stock ? Or are those practically own built stock ROM's from source.
I tries his Nexus S 4g Rom, and there was no Calendar Sync or Google Pictures sync. The G apps was part of his rom so i couldn't flash a different version
Hey guys
I'm more of a reader than a poster but anyway, I came across a guy that has created a ICS Rom with the help of some guys on here I believe ???
Anyway the ROM is there for download and sees to be pretty close to a finished artical.
I guess go have a look give it a try and if it is as described then Happy New Year to everyone

So, what the point of this thread?
well I guess theres some conflict here but as long as the Rom works and everyone that was involved gets a mention I'm happy. Surley thats the main thing right give everyone what they want, anyway thats enough from me, happy new year to you guys its there if you want it
Does the ROM work fine?
Any nitz and RIL issues?
All this slating of airbus360. However if anyone bothers to try his rom, it is much better. I've been using cm9 since the first alpha up to the most recent release. It was good, but not a patch on this. Airbus's rom is much smoother, especially when flicking between home screens. Its also a lot faster. So although he may have used Teamhacksung code, he's obviously incorporated a few improvements of his own. Before anyone criticises, they should install it. It's a step up from the current cm9 builds.

Noon Question. How to install this so called beta version. Help pls.....
Been using this since last night.
Basically, looks the same as CM9 minus a few modifications, yet the ROM is a lot smoother then CM9.
Battery for me is great, roughly 1% loss an hour. Removed all uneeded apps via Titanium Backup.
Ive noticed one slight problem with the incoming call screen, icons misplaced. BUT, Still can be used.
I've had No FC's either.
I do really reccomend this ROM
Hello,

Thank you for your quick response. I went to the website you posted. I see he has listed different versions. The one listed as the most current version does my mention Icecream Sandwich in the log (his previous versions seem to list they are Gingerbread downloads). Also when I clicked the link he gives for the download, it says that he uploaded the file in June of last year, which suggests it isn't Icecream Sandwich. Do you know of a link that is for Android 4.0 (icecream sandwich)? Like I said, I can only find sites that list the Multiupload link, and that site is down. Thanks again for your time and help.

Sure. That's a great point.
But keep in mind, when you go back to GB after the display corruption, broken camera, broken GPS, broken WiMax and you get FC's after restoring your nandroid, you'd agree with my opinion.
ics definately is not usable as a daily driver obviously. But it does help the developers for users to flash and report bugs/issues they are having and what may be causing the issues. Some people may not need 4G like people that use miui as their daily roms, so once a majority of the bugs are squashed I'm sure a lot of people will find it usable. I am going to miss things like theme chooser and built in tethering from cm7 though there's a lot of good things in gingerbread roms that I hope I can just let go of when it's time to move on.

Noob? Who the hell you calling a noob lol? They know all the bugs they had like one or two people test it before releasing it for the devs that don't have the device. We're lucky enough to have some experienced devs that do have the device and probably do know most of the major issues/bugs. Don't ever tell people to shutup, this is a discussion board remember?

Still there's no reason why people should'nt give it a try. Otherwise, what's the point or rooting and installing a custom recovery? You should encourage users to try new ROMs, if it doesn't work out, that's why we have nandroid backups. I was using ICS as a daily since I don't have 4G where I live and camera isn't a big concern for me. I'm currently on MikG to develop an app for tommytomatoe and once complete, I will be rocking it again. How about letting people form their own opinion without you always throwing your negativity and "expert" opinion into the mix?

yeah that link is only for the his GB ROMs. Prewludedrew actually hasn't updated his ICS for the Shift in a minute AFAIK.. I would suggest trying Zenulators ZenMod9 or KushDeck's ICS ROM.. Both ROMs are a little bit farther along in development.

Where might I find Zenmod 9 or Kushdeck's ICS ROMs?
I guess the only feature not working I would miss is the camera. Do you guys think there is any chance of the camera being fixed in the future?

Camera partially works with Decks and Zens ROM. Both are in the development section.

Oh cool. I will have to give it a try this weekend. Which of the two mods do you like more? And why?
Thanks for the info.
