[Q] TWRP Boot Triangle doesn't show anymore?

I installed TWRP a couple days ago and whenever I rebooted the Kindle Fire, I saw the yellow triangle.
But now it doesn't come up anymore. Whenever I reboot it just shows the Kindle Fire boot screen.
I know TWRP is installed because in my /sdcard partition the TWRP folder is there with the backup I made.
So how do I get the TWRP boot screen to appear again?

You might have gotten updated. Mine did the same thing. Amazon pushed the 6.2.1 update and it undid twrp and root. Just use the kf utility to redo root,twrp, and the market stuff.

Well I am rooted right now.
The last thing I flashed on TWRP was the Kindle Fire 6.2.1 Pre-Rooted Secure Boot Image when I was on v6.0.
But for some reason after I flashed the Pre-Rooted boot image, it erased my root anyway?
I rerooted later using Burrito Root.
I'm thinking that when the Pre-Rooted 6.2.1 boot image erased my root, it also uninstalled TWRP too.
But because the TWRP backup folder was in /sdcard it was kept intact since the Pre-Rooted 6.2.1 boot image only replaces the /system partition.

I don't think the pre rooted image has twrp so it got erased. You should go grab the kf utility and use that to apply root and install twrp along with market apps too.
Just check the main fire forum, the utility is at the top.

I am already rooted. So should I just get the KF Utility and reinstall TWRP?
If I do that, will it erase my current backup?

No. The backup is.on your sd card it wont be effected. How are you checking for root?

Maybe TWRP is there, but you system isn't booting FireFireFire.
Can you boot into your flashed ROM?

I can verify that neither of the pre-rooted 6.2.1 roms delete twrp or firfirefire. I used twrp to install both when I was using them and retained twrp on both occassions.

I had the same issue after an update. I used the fire util to reflash twrp. It gave an error that the twrp files already existed but still re-enabled the firefirefire bootloader.

Maybe it's because when I was done flashing the Pre-Rooted 6.2.1 ROM, I didn't wipe the dalvik cache?
Also when it asked me to reboot, I pressed Power Off instead of System?
Could that be the problem?

Did you use KFU to redo the TWRP?

will try to give you answers so much as i know and i'm thinking about it:
1. there are a lot of people where the prerouted update was overwritten by the OTA - there could be more reasons why: was allready in the cache folder or got pushed anyway - that's not really clear - but now you'r safe
2. the kfu don't overwrite firefirefire or twrp
3. the prerooted boot images don't overwrite firefirefire or twrp
if i'm wrong someone correct me

KFU is the easiest way - only take care if you have burritoroot allready on your kf - unistall burritoroot first and redo with kfu - and if you have driver problems don't use the drivers from kfu - use the ones from this post:

i want to root and install recovery using KFU but before i get started i just want to ask a few question.
1. i do i need a wi-fi connection in my kindle fire before using KFU?
2. when connecting my KF to my computer, will i turn off first my KF?
3. when im in KFU what boot mode should i pick before starting to root and install recovery?
i hope someone can answer my questions, i can't do anything about my KF because i don't have a wi-fi, so i'll just install custom roms like CM7 or CM9

Hope this helps:
1. Yes as it will download the files needed for TWRP and root for u automatically.
2. Nope you do not need to turn off while you want to connect to the computer.
3. In most cases you do not need to choose what bootmode to use.
P.S. Remember to make use of the install driver function in the KFU before you do anything.

1. kindle fire does not need wifi to install FFF or TWRP
2. Install FFF, then TWRP

but when i tried to install the twrp first it says "missing recovery file" something like that. do i need to download this:
Extras(Will auto download, only for manual install users)
Apps.zip = Click Here (Place in a folder called apps)

if you are manually installing via adb shell commands then you will need those. If using KFU then the files that are needed are downloaded via your PC's internet connection and sent to your kindle

KINDLE FIRE HD stuck on TWRP v2.6.0.0 and recogniced in adb mode on pc

Hi, I am very new and I really need some help I was trying to install a custom rom but something went wrong.
Waht I did was.
I first rooted my device,
then I installed the second bootloader TWRP
And I forgot the wifi on, so thw kindle fire HD updated itself and eliminate the super user app.
So I restored the kindle fire hd to ist default in the restore option in the main manu.
then I root it again,
and try to instal the second boot loader again,
but after I installed the second boot loader it never boots up into the kindle fire hd system,
what happends is, in turns on, appears the kinfle fire letter in orange, the aperars kinfle fire letters is blue, then kinfle fire letters in orange again, whit a animation, that use to appear when is about lo load the system, then it reboots itself and repeate the entire process but this time goes into the TWRP second boot loader.
I think I could fix it by just using the backuo files I made o I coul install the custom room I want from there, but the problem is that I cannot load any file to the kindle fire hd because when I connect it the pc it shows as ADB device. Please help me out with this. I would like to you help to restore it to stock or tell how can I transfer files to my kindle fire hd when is in TWRP mode.
I already tried the mount option on the TWRP but the pc does not recognized it as a portabla device where I can store files.

I think this is what happens when flash the old freedom boot image on the latest updates, not positive though. Anyways what kind of backups did you make, like a nandroid backup from twrp that u moved to Ur PC, or a backup as described in the fire flash tutorial made using adb? If its the adb method its really simple, you just boot into twrp and hit restart and then hit boot loader, it will go into fastboot where you can flash those images. Otherwise I suggest just downloading the latest prerooted amazon ROM in the android development section and trying to use the side load feature. I'll explain more after you post back.

So can you get into twrp or you mean you only have fastboot access? If you only have fastboot access you just need to make sure that you have installed the driver for the device (use the one in my signature if you haven't) and just use kindle fire first aid to restore the system.

similar trouble - stuck with blue logo
I hope that this is the right thread for my problem. I've also tried to install a custom ROM on my KFHD 7'' - I did it using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2271909
I'm able to get into TWRP, wiped and I flashed the latest CM 10.2 from hashcode + the gapps but when I try to reboot the Kindle (after wiping again) it goes into orange logo, which changes to blue logo and stays there. I've waited for a long time and nothing changes - tried to advanced wipe all the stuff from my tablet and flash again, but I always end up on the blue logo. Also does not matter if I only flash the CM 10.2 alone without gapps.
Does anyone have any idea how I can progress from here? I should be able to restore my backups via Factory Cable - but this is not what I would like to do.

So did you factory reset when doing this? And are you sure you grabbed the version of the ROM for your kindle?

I did a factory reset, yes. And I took the ROMs from Hashcode for version Kindle Fire HD 7'' (my tablet) I managed to successfully flash CM 11 now -> I checked zip verification when installing the ROM, this seems to have helped. It is booting after a few seconds now.
Did not realize, that the zip verification was important (this was the only difference afaik) and now it seems to work smoothly.
All in all I am still a bit puzzled - but at least my tablet is up and running again.

I reckon the problem was caused by using the wrong boot partition image.
So as your KFHD had updated to v7.4.6 you would need to flash the
kfhd7-freedom-boot-7.4.6.img instead of the kfhd7-freedom-boot-7.2.3.img

I had the same problem and solved it by flashing the matching the correct Boot Image. I had Kindle v7.4.6 installed and used 7.2.3 Boot Image

hurrah... I've fixed this problem in fastboot mood with my regular usb cable by the code below in cmd:
fastboot -i 0x1949 flash boot kfhd7-freedom-boot-7.4.6.img

The freedom boot file is just a boot.img file not a system.img. A boot.img is the file that boots the system. So it will not change your system. If you want to update the device to 7.4.6 and have 2nd bootloader and twrp installed just search for a stock 7.4.6 rom and flash it in twrp

Ok, thank you. I ve installed stock 7.4.1 rom from Hashcode (no find 7.4.6). Work good, but my problem of shutdown continue!

sounds like you have a bad battery or maybe something loose inside the device

When using FireFlash you flash a freedom boot.img and TWRP. This can only be done from stock. After stock, you need a zip with the necessary files in it. This is something that gets buy newer folks.
That said, I have seen a lot of complaints about random un-fixable shutdowns all over. Even a system restore and letting Amazon push OTA updates is not fixing it. Probably some hardware or software issue. If it were me, I would see what Amazon would do for warranty.

OK, My kindle rooted fine, I got TWRP and 2nd bootloader to installed and did a backup, downloaded cm11 and gapps into my download folder,got into TWRP and did a wipe added zip files hit install, everything was going good and about 4 minutes into the install I got a message on the screen saying that said "system UI has stopped" then the screen went black. I waited a few minutes hit the power button and now I'm get a "cyanogenmod account has stopped"
Do I go back into TWRP and install my backup or try installing a different cm version ?

I think cm11 fully installed, I can adb to my kindle and get a device number and I can see all the files in the kindle on my laptop. I just don't have any user interface screen on my kindle.
Problem solved I held down the power button and the volume up and down buttons at the same time for about 15 seconds ,then release them and when it booted up every thing was fine. Running cm11

I followed your video step by step and got CM 11.0 installed. But I can't get Google Now to work. After opening Google app, it asks me to get Google Now. If I say yes, it asks me to add a Google account. After doing that, if I open the app again, the search bar opens. No option for Google Now. Any help would be appreciated.

All attempts that I have made to root this Kindle Fire on 6.3.3 have failed. KFU fails. Towelroot fails. Nothin.

Ok so I was at least able to use a factory cable to put the kindle into fastboot mode. After that I was able to flash FFF and TWRP and then flash a stock 6.3.2 Rom which is rootable.
Also you can install custom rom from this point. Not exactly succeeding and rooting stock 6.3.3 but its a start.

So how are you preventing it from taking another OTA of 6.3.3?

has anyone figured out the root for kindle fire on 6.3.3

Here's what I did:
1. Download stock firmware 6.3.2 (latest KFU will get it for you)
2. Copy stock firmware to internal storage on Kindle Fire (boot up Kindle Fire and plug into your computer)
3. Download TWRP 2.2.2.1 from here. (thanks sd_shadow).
4. Download latest FFF using KFU
5. Put TWRP and FFF into a folder on your computer that contains fastboot.exe
6. Make a factory cable (google "make Motorola factory usb cable") or you can buy a premade one or an adapter. Here's an example.
7. Turn off your Kindle fire and unplug it from your computer.
8. Plug one end or your factory cable into your computer.
9. Open a windows command prompt from the folder with fastboot.exe in it.
10. While the Kindle Fire is turned off, plug in the other end of your factory cable into the Kindle fire. This should throw the KF into fastboot mode.
If you have created the factory cable correctly you should see the red Kindle screen but it should stay there and you should get a new driver install notification in Windows. Install the driver for the Kindle Fire bootloader.
11. From your Windows command prompt run these commands (substituting the names for whatever your TWRP and FFF files are called)

fastboot -i 0x1949 flash recovery twrp.img
fastboot -i 0x1949 flash bootloader fff.bin
fastboot -i 0x1949 oem idme bootmode 4000
fastboot -i 0x1949 reboot
Now you should see the FireFireFire blue screen and you can push the power button to boot into TWRP. From TWRP you can wipe everything and install the 6.3.2 file you placed on the Kindle Fire earlier (if you want to flash a KitKat ROM like CM11 or others then you must re flash recovery with latest TWRP from here). After you are using 6.3.2 you can run latest KFU and it will work just fine.

Unless newest Twrp is different, only Twrp 2.2.2.1 or lower can install stock kindle firmware. Other TWRP versions will bootloop the Kindle Fire, and Twrp will need to be flashed in bootloader

Correct or cannibal open touch recovery but it won`t flash Kit Kat.

Well, whatever KFU .99 downloaded, that's what I flashed. And it worked. I don't have the Kindle anymore to check TWRP version .
I don't want anyone bricking their fire because of my steps though. I'll edit the post. Thanks sd_shadow!

KFU will download latest twrp the first time you select install twrp, after that will install same version, and will not check for update, unless you remove twrp.IMG from folder.

Has OTA root keeper been tried? Voodoo or Superuser option. It needs to be backed up before update is installed

need help with a stock 6.3.3
Ever since my wife asked me to try to root her stock 1st generation Kindle Fire (currently running 6.3.3), I have had a hell of a time trying to get this thing rooted. I will also admit that I am a relative newbie when it comes to rooting devices. I am perfectly comfortable doing a few tweaks here and there, even through using command-line tools, but this is my first attempt at trying to root a device. I have both my MacBook Pro OSX (Mavericks) laptop and my Windows 7 desktop at my disposal, but I have only been able to make limited progress in rooting the KF.
I have used a number of tools (which I realize are mostly variants of one another): Kindle Fire Utility 0.9.9, RootKindleFire631 (from RootKindleFire.com), Breakdroid, and KindleFireRootMacLinux (which basically uses the ZergRush method). All to no avail. The most common error that I get is "Couldn't write bp1, panic". Hope this helps some developers out there to finally find a feasible rooting method for this one.

I created a prerooted 6.3.3 update that can be installed in twrp.
I have Installed with 2.2.2.1 and 2.7.1.0 versions of Twrp
Didn't change much,
I replaced stock install script with tobiascuypers' install script from [Rom] Stock 6.3.2 [Mods] [04.22.13] [Primary/Alt]
Added Root files (busybox, su, SuperSU)
Added Google Apps (Framwork, Play Store, Calendar, Google Voice, Google +)
Added other apps (Root Browser, Go Launcher, Facebook)
Instructions
Download update-kindle-prerooted.6.3.3.v1.zip, place on sd card, wipe data (may be optional), install with TWRP
wipe cache, reboot, may take a few mins to boot first time.
Tested Google play (signed in, downloaded apps)
Didn't test amazon sign in.

if 6.3.3 is installed already yes a fastboot cable is needed to install fff bootloader and twrp.
If 6.3.2. Is installed, use kindle fire utility, to install bootloader and twrp.

@sd_shadow - Installed fine with only dalvik / cache wipe over existing 6.3.3 (I removed most of the 3rd party apps prior to install).
Probably deserves it's own thread in development.
First thing I did was freeze OTASilentInstall.apk in /system/app/. I may consider removing it completely in the future.

If I make a new version I will remove updater, and maybe all the extra apps other than play store, and ones need for root (supersu, binary, and busybox),

Yes thought I would start a thread in Dev, but wasn't sure about the new General Public License rules (posting sources like the kernel), most of the devices I follow have it stickied in the dev section, but I see it is not in Kindle dev section?

You're not modifying the kernel, therefore there is no source (or changes) to post. GPL does not apply in this case.
Just specify in your thread that the ROM contains the stock, unmodified Amazon kernel.
If anyone beefs you on it, you can point them to this post.
